My family came in on a random weekday around 1:30. We had a party of four and were sat right away. We ordered drinks and the armadilla eggs. Not really sure what to expect. As transplants from another state, and BBQ not being our first language, we wanted to try new things! They came to the table and we were all sort of perplexed. Were they supposed to look like...that? Either way, we dug in. They were cold in the middle, also a strange discovery to us. I ordered the burnt ends, which came to the table closer to cold than warm. The blue cheese potato salad was tasty and all it needed was a lil salt and pepper to make it perfect. All was going well, until my husband was about 4-5 bites into his brisket wrap. He asked me to smell it, and I did. It was funky! Smelled a lot like a foot and not a lot like a tortilla. He asked the server to smell it and they agreed it was a bit odd. The manager came over and denied it smelling like anything. My husband had finished his meal, and we weren't looking for a freebie but wanted to let them know it was a lil weird. Instead of acknowledging the potential issue, we were dismissed as "wrong." It just didn't sit right with me. My husband had some definite issues in the hour or two after eating, so we won't be back. I won't say it was food poisoning because genuinely it could have just not agreed with my husband. I'll put my disclaimer on here, I hope people do enjoy and continue to patronize this small business, it's just not to my liking. read more

After driving from the Northland to Lees Summit to checkout Jazzy B's, I wanted to go all in on the menu and try as much as i could; so for $25 I ordered the 3 meats and 3 sides platter. Three short ribs, six thick slices of sausage, and about a dozen chunks of burnt ends were my meats. Large cups of baked beans and apple jicama slaw were served with a very large helping of tater tots, Texas toast, pickles and cups of sauce on the side. A large feast that exceeded my expectations in quantity. Ok, but what about the quality? First the missed opportunities... the ribs were short but thick, yet were a bit greasy and undercooked, and The "Miles Davis Baked Beans" had an unusual taste... maybe too much liquid smoke?? Not my favorite beans by a long shot. They had a nice "Aura" but this "Bitches Brew" of a side dish left me "Kind of Blue". Now on to the good stuff.... The tater tots were the best I've ever had. Some sort of sweet magic powder was coating them and created "A Love Supreme" between me and those little potato nuggets.. I'm very glad the serving was large. Apple / Jicama slaw? Yep, another "Strange Fruit" concoction but the, textures and flavor combinations won me over. Burnt Ends... "Mercy Mercy Mercy" a mouthful of moist meaty morsels that stack up to any other in town. Sausage - was one of "My Favorite Things" Made in house and perfect flavoring without fennel seeds! Great for dipping in the sauce on the side cups. Jazzy B's not only has a large BBQ menu, but offers much more, burgers, crab cakes, salads, a full bar, live music, sports and jazz paraphernalia for visual stimulation. I love the fact that this place has blended two of our city's culture touchstones - BBQ and Jazz, thrown in some football blended it all together to create a unique roadhouse feel. I wish they were more centrally located in the metro, because I would certainly be a loyal and returning customer if they were a bit closer. Three days post visit and I'm already "In the Mood" to "Take the A Train" back to Lees Summit for some Crab Cake balls, a brisket sandwich and a cocktail or two and listen to some live beats and take some "Time Out". read more

We heard Jazzy B's was worth the visit after moving from Colbern Rd. (That's where we visited last). We ordered 3 meats and sides and shared the platter to give as most we could a try. Unfortunately, it was not an enjoyed visit. Ribs were so dry we only took 1 bite and took them home to steam them to try and get some moisture in them to enjoy them. Cole slaw was bland. Beans were over smoked and nearly inedible. Brisket was good, fries were good, and sauce is tasty. I really enjoyed the spicy sauce. Service was also great. Smells great in here! We placed our order we placed our order at the register as instructed and took a seat. We ordered several different meats to try. The owner came by to make sure everything was great. It was nice that he cared enough to check in with us. This is kind of a mixed review. I really like the atmosphere here and felt at home. Something was off with the pulled pork; I think it was old. Neither my wife or I were interested in a second bite. The brisket was pretty good and so was the sausage. The sauces were good too! I like the beans a great deal. The cheesy corn was delicious. The coleslaw was nice. But holy cow! The best thing on that platter was the amazing tater tots!! Good Food! Worth a visit!! I love a good owner operator joint and Jazzy B's is all that and MORE! Greeted by Jazzy at the door he was a big man with a BIGGER smile. His passion was evident from jump. 6pm on a Friday the parking lot was packed we feared our first attempt to sample some good local food and LIVE music may be futile. But.... Jazzy sprung into action cleared a table near the stage and sat us within 5 mins. Unexpectedly we found Happy Hour was still in effect until 7 (even on a Friday!). Cold drinks delivered quickly while we investigated the menu. Yes it was busy so here's the good and not so good. Apps we started with crab balls and fried mushrooms. Dinner we chose the 4 meat and 4 side so we could sample. Dessert we took home beniets. Loved the mushrooms! As we sampled each we broke down the flavors and made our best guesses as to what magic went into this recipe. My guess it was a bit of smoke and a nice beer batter - simple! Crab balls were not my favorite. Growing up near the Chesapeake I love my crab and I had a hard time tasting any crab flavor. My son loved them so it's a toss up. More crab flavor please! They also have crab cakes on the menu so I will temper my opinion until next time. Meats all of the were fantastic!!! Really I've tried many dozens of BBQ joints from KC to NOLA Memphis to Texas, Hawaii Seoul Japan and Guam (and more) but Jazzy and his staff brought the love to the ribs pulled pork brisket and especially burnt ends (invented in KC, go visit the BBQ museum if you get a chance.). Hard to choose a favorite but rarely do you get a moist rib that pulls clean from the bone - not overcooked not mushy just beautiful. Brisket slices pulled apart effortlessly just enough fat to lean and great smoke ring. Pulled pork was like dessert. Pickels toast jicama apple slaw beans.. even the arugula they decorate the platters so tasty. Our second round of drinks one got lost in translation, 30 mins we were asked 3 times and it was still missing. Bartender finally came over and offered "must have been delivered to wrong table" excuse seemed like she needed to throw her expos under the bus. She was more than slammed so all forgiven. So full but we couldn't help ourselves seeing the beniets on the menu - we spent New Years 2020 in NOLA (pre pandemic) and must try. We ordered them to go and asked for a check. Beniets took 30 or so minutes (order them early) and our check was charged for an extra margarita, probably due to the delivery issue. Well that was long and probably unnecessary detail but please leave with this. Go try for yourself. Stopped into Jazzy B's as a last stop before headed to the airport on our way back home. Our group was quickly greeted by Tessa who got a few drink orders while we waited for the rest of our party to arrive. The vibe is casual with a sports theme with live music on Friday's. The menu seems to offer something for everyone without being overwhelming. Jazzy, the owner, was warm and we had a great visit with him talking sports. Our party had brisket, burnt ends, pulled pork, a chicken wrap, cajun dry rubbed wings, and smoked turkey sandwich. Sides were: fries, tots, slaw, apple/jicama slaw, and beans. During our trip to KC we had eaten at Jack's Stack BBQ & Joe's (original location). Jazzy's blows Jack's out of the water for both the BBQ meats (tender, not over smoked) as well as the sauces and sides. Jazzy's is on par with Joe's for the quality and flavor without the 45min wait to order and then the additional time to get the food. Tessa took great care of us the entire visit and handled our various bills smoothly. The wings were the BEST I've had...I could eat a platter of those everyday and never get tired of them. While there we saw a family that looked like they had come from Sunday service with their kids, a retired couple enjoying their Sunday afternoon, some younger guys in to watch the game and grab a bite. And that is just the beverage side of it. The menu is small in terms of number of items which is a strategic choice to focus on making the items they serve very high-quality. We started with the crab balls which were phenomenal next. I had the brisket tacos which were very good tender brisket & delicious slaw. Man this is a hidden Jem you definitely have to try this place, I am not a taco love but my wife of the pulled pork tacos and they were amazing, I got the fish and chips and fried mushrooms as a appetizer and they were delicious as well. We finally got around to trying Jazzy B's, and we're so glad we did. My wife tried the brisket tacos with a side of fries. She thought they tacos were good, but she loved the fries. She tried the spicy bbq sauce and the jazzy sauce, and liked them both. She tried a cocktail, the Cajun storm, and really liked it. I had the two meat and two side platter. The meats I chose were the chicken wings and brisket. The wings were awesome! I tried the garlic Parmesan. Just the right amount of seasoning, with crispy skin, and smoke flavor. The brisket was tender, with the right amount of flavor from the rub they smoked it with. I tried the spicy bbq sauce, and liked it as well. My sides were fries and the Miles Davis baked beans. Both were great! I tried a Peanut Butter porter, and loved it! As far as the service, it was outstanding. Years ago I had their food from their great food truck and decided it was time for a rematch. BBQ in KC should be amazing, rich and smokey before you add any sauce and then the sauce just completes the flavor profile.......if you can't manage that you won't last in KC......Jazzy Bs doesn't disappoint! A coworker told me about this restaurant and highly recommend the turkey sandwich. Yesterday I decided to stop in. The Price on combo to me was high but I know everyone has increased their prices. One thing I'm not a fan of is BBQ on a bun but that's just me. Should have asked if could I have meat on bread. Didn't really taste smoke in meat but I could see meat had the smoke ring. Thought such a large bun could have a little more meat but the taste was okay. Bake bean had a mix of black beans and pork beans from a can. Little too sweet taste but some may like their baked beans sweet. I'm used to onion and meat in my baked beans. Nice little crowd in the restaurant and atmosphere was nice. read more

Omg it was my first time to Jazzy B's!! It was amazing! I did a pick up and the staff was friendly and helpful. We had a slab of ribs, no sauce and garlic cheese corn. The ribs fell off the bone and had a perfect smoked flavor. They did not need any sauce!!! The corn was really good.
