If you have never tried lutfi's then you probably aren't a KC native. This location took over the old fun house pizza location in Raytown. I suggest you call ahead and order as you will have about 20 min wait. They drop the food fresh right then and there as you order. I appreciate that their fries aren't cooked in the same grease as the fish! The fish is always cooked perfectly with a nice crunch and season on the outside. My only downfall is Lutfi's is stingy when it comes to dipping sauce. They only give you one tarter sauce for about 4 pieces of fish. Additional tiny tarter sauce is 25cents each.

Macroni and Cheese Catfish Green Beans

Mac & cheese had 0 flavor tasted like plain noodles, green beans tasted burnt & the day you get 4 pieces of fish & you actually get 4 strips. $30 for 2 plates & this what you get. Never again.

So, I've been comming here a bit! Dig their snack pack, 3 pieces of catfish with a side, and a slice of bread. My friend gave me his slice of bread so I made a catfish and chips sandwich drowned in Trappey's Hot Sauce! I could drink that sauce out of the bottle! The food is made fresh to order, so it's the wait! The first time we came here, we orderes dinners for 5, the only thing I remember is a ton of catfish and everyone giving me their hush puppies! Also, sent home with a bag of tiny sauce containers full of the hot sauce, I was in fried food heaven. Their fries and other sides are okay, i mainly come for the fish! Snack packs mon-fri 10am - 2pm are only $6 and some change. Their dinners are a bit pricey but you get a lot of food with that price. I like comming during the snack hours, but if arrive after 2 then I'll get the fried fish in a sandwich, which is pretty good with all the fixings.

I didn't realize Lufti's existed in Raytown, until it was pointed out to me. It's the same Lufti's that is on Parallel in Kansas City, KS, which I am very familiar with. Lufti's is down home, no frills and looks like it could be snuggled in an area in the Ozarks. Lufti's sells catfish and chicken, plus a couple of other choices. they are the only place in this area that does what they do, and they fry that catfish well. You walk in, and are greeted by a smiling face, and a menu. For 8.39 (approx.) you can get 12 pound of fried catfish. For 12.00 (approx.), you can get 1 lb. There's all you can eat on Sundays. With your selection, you get 2 sides. Go ahead and try to choose just 2. I chose onion rings, and red beans a rice. Good choice. Out of green beans, hush puppies, red beans and rice, onion rings, French fries, cole slaw, it was tough to choose. The meal comes with 2 pieces of potato bread. You can choose your fish to be blackened or steamed; never in my life would I succumb to that. The restaurant is long and narrow. There is a room for parties or meetings, called the "Obama Room." There is atleast one television. There's a few tables, nothing fancy whatsoever. I sat and waited for my to go food. It took about 10 minutes. The woman at the counter asked me if I wanted hot sauce. I answered, 'I never turn down hot sauce with fried fish." The fish is served in styrofoam containers, mine, to go. When I arrived home, and started eating, I remembered how much I loved Mad Jack's on Minnesota Ave, in Kansas City, KS. The fish was perfect, and hot sauce made it oh so good. I swear, I could eat a pound of it. Oh yeah...Lufti's knows their fish, and has their frying skills is the bomb.

Lutfi's Fried Fish is an undiscovered hide-away in Raytown, Missouri that stands as the middle ground between Long John Silver's and Red Lobster. Tucked into a strip mall, Lutfi's serves amazing catfish with a warm smile. The man behind the counter was as friendly as they come; he enthusiastically recommended their most popular dishes and proudly claimed that their green beans were so phenomenal that people travel across the state to buy platters full of the beans for the holidays. Their fish menu is simple, but the wide variety of side dishes and desserts is astounding. Sides include spaghetti, okra, and sweet potato fries among a long list of other dishes. Desserts include red velvet cake and lemon bars, among others. If you come expecting fine, sophisticated dining, you will be disappointed. Your meal is served to you in a Styrofoam container with plastic silver ware. You even have to walk up to the counter to request a re fill on your drink. Lutfi's may lack in sophistication, but they make up for it with charm and delicious side dishes. Lutfi's is not the place to impress a first date, but more of a hang out spot on a Friday night with a group of friends.

"Premier" isn't marketing flair - it's accurate. This is, hands down, the best raw bar in Kansas City. We arrived for our 5:15 p.m. reservation in the main dining room and were warmly greeted by Allison, our server. She struck the perfect balance - friendly, engaging, and attentive throughout the meal. A great start to the evening. For two diners, we wanted to explore as much of the menu as possible. Before ordering food, we were told the signature Frozen Gin & Tonic was a must. It lived up to the reputation - bright, refreshing, and expertly balanced. The only thing that would have made it better was a slightly warmer dining room. We're big mussel fans, so we opened with the Bangs Island Mussels - and they set the bar high. A generous portion of plump mussels bathed in a white wine and roasted tomato broth that was deeply flavorful without being heavy. The toasted bread was perfect for soaking up every last bite. Simply outstanding. Next came the NOLA-Style Shrimp Gumbo. Served in a small bowl, but packed with richness and depth. Adding a touch of hot sauce brought just the right amount of heat and complexity. A standout dish. My wife - having happily overindulged in mussels and bread - opted for a lighter course: a single Maryland Crab Cake, available fried or broiled. It was almost all crab, clean and flavorful, with a satisfying crust. She couldn't finish it...so I did. When you go to a raw bar, oysters are non-negotiable. I ordered a half dozen featuring both East and West Coast varieties. Each one was pristine, briny, and fresh, and the horseradish had just the right bite. For my entrée, I chose the Bacon-Wrapped Shrimp - four large prawns, each wrapped in crisp, smoky bacon. Simple, well-executed, and a strong finish to the savory courses. Dessert did not disappoint. My wife loved the Lemon Pistachio Chess Torte, while I devoured the Bourbon Apple Tart. She noted that the toasted meringue reminded her of marshmallows - a detail that made us smile. The dining room is intimate and can get noisy as it fills up. Next time, we'll likely try the patio for a different vibe. Pacing throughout the meal was spot-on, dishes came out promptly from the kitchen, and Allison's service tied everything together into a truly memorable evening. We'll definitely be back - and soon.

Either way, we dug in. They were cold in the middle, also a strange discovery to us. I ordered the burnt ends, which came to the table closer to cold than warm. The blue cheese potato salad was tasty and all it needed was a lil salt and pepper to make it perfect. All was going well, until my husband was about 4-5 bites into his brisket wrap. He asked me to smell it, and I did. It was funky! Smelled a lot like a foot and not a lot like a tortilla. He asked the server to smell it and they agreed it was a bit odd. The manager came over and denied it smelling like anything. My husband had finished his meal, and we weren't looking for a freebie but wanted to let them know it was a lil weird. Instead of acknowledging the potential issue, we were dismissed as "wrong." It just didn't sit right with me. My husband had some definite issues in the hour or two after eating, so we won't be back. I won't say it was food poisoning because genuinely it could have just not agreed with my husband. I'll put my disclaimer on here, I hope people do enjoy and continue to patronize this small business, it's just not to my liking.
