Had an incredible dinner here this evening! The restaurant is beautiful - it looks like an art gallery. A beautiful old house where the rooms have tables and cool artwork on the walls (was that David Lynch's portrait??). The service was fantastic and the food was even better. We started with a special appetizer of burrata and greens, tomatoes, etc. that was delicious, and the focaccia. Then I had the linguine with shrimp, my son had the Bolognese, and my husband the rib eye steak. We also had some great cocktails and some really lovely glasses of wine. We loved everything about this restaurant and if we lived here, agreed this would be a regular!
This was a wonderful Italian dining experience in Vancouver! Reservations are highly recommended and easily made on their website. The interior is beautiful and actually gives you the feeling of eating in a small and elegantly appointed home. The server was quite knowledgeable, friendly, and attentive. I tried the Aperol spritz cocktail which was tasty, strong, and refreshing. For starters we had the focaccia bread and meatballs. Both were delicious! The bread had a wonderful soft and fresh texture. The meatballs were hearty and flavorful and well-sized for a starter. I had the salmon entree. Very tasty and fresh with a light sauce and a variety of vegetables. Very good! Save room for dessert! I loved the lemon almond cake. Amazingly perfect texture and a delicious lemon almond flavor. This was a wonderful dining experience. I highly recommend it!!
Excellent food, outstanding service great ambience Highly recommend this place if you want a flavor sensation
Service was delightful. We quickly got a table and the staff genuinely seemed to be happy we came in. I got the ravioli on special, and my date got the truffle fettuccine. Both dishes were delicious. Wow. I wish the dishes were bigger! I could have eaten both dishes all day. There were no leftovers haha :) The restaurant was decorated really nice, the lighting was just right, not too bright, not too dim. And it was lively but quiet. New favorite restaurant! Wish I lived closer!
Ambiance: 5/5 Service: 4/5 Food: 5/5 This was my third time at Lupo and it never disappoints! This time I was celebrating my birthday with my family so we made a reservation for a Sunday evening which I recommend since the restaurant is usually full with on weekends. The menu has something for everyone and lots of vegetarian options along with gluten-free pasta which is great to see them be so accommodating. They also have lots of daily specials and I decided to go with the special ravioli. Our food came out quickly and was delicious! We all enjoyed our dishes and left feeling stuffed. The quality of the pasta and sauce was perfect. I took away one star because I found our server to be attentive but not overly friendly and the prices are quite steep even for Vancouver
Lupo is the most adorable and homey (the restaurant was originally a house and the owner lives next door!!!) Italian restaurant in the Yaletown neighbourhood. There are two levels for dining and the restroom is also located up the stairs by the wine rack (crucial information for the heck of a story I'm about to tell). My two girlfriends and I were celebrating a belated Galentines. We were sat promptly and our server immediately came over to take our drink orders. The server (who also seemed to be the bartender) was kind and humourous and gave me dad joke vibes. While he was making drinks, another server delivered us specials for the night. The food arrived promptly. My friend and I shared the carpaccio, the fettuccine, and the pappardelle special while my vegan gf ordered the taglierini without dairy. I enjoyed the carpaccio as it had quail egg and artichoke to pair which was a unique addition (the wagyu was quite thin though for $26). When the mains arrived, I was impressed by the portion sizes. The Fettucine was truffley, creamy, and delicious! Perfect noodle texture and sauce-to-pasta ratio. However, the pappardelle was just okay - I didn't feel anything was special about the flavour or the sauce but the wagyu cheek was very tender and melted in your mouth. I sampled my friend's vegan pasta and surprisingly, the non-dairy taglierini was good too! Lots of mushrooms on it and although a bit salty for my liking it was still flavourful. Now the night became interesting when I got up to use the restroom. I made the climb up the stairs and while waiting for my friend in the bathroom, I began to feel very dizzy. Before I could figure out what to do, I fell to the ground and blacked out for a very brief moment. The staff were amazing, 2-3 people immediately checked on me and moved me into the office so I could sit and recover myself. One staff member had first aid training and checked my pulse while another member went downstairs to alert my other friend so she was aware. The way everything happened was so seamless and stress-free considering I was super embarrassed that this happened in the first place. Thank you Lupo for great service, food, and apparently also first aid! I definitely will be back to this homey and lovely place.
My partner and I were craving some good Italian food so decided to checkout Lupo. I'm glad we had a reservation because it was pretty crowded on the Friday night, we sat on our table as soon as we entered. They have an upstairs and downstairs dine-in space, we were sat upstairs where it was really loud. The tables were very close to one another so it was very difficult to have a conversation, we asked our server if we could get another spot and she was very nice enough to move us. The ambience of the place is cliche, nothing too fancy. My partner is vegetarian so that night we only ordered vegetarian dishes and I was very surprised to see that they had a lot of options. After we placed our order, it took them almost 30mins to get our food and it started with the main course first because our appetizer only came 20mins before we left. (They were nice enough to make the appetizer on the house considering the wait time). For main course we got their Taglierini which had mushrooms, chillies, garlic, and olive oil. The pasta was very dry and did not have much flavour, it felt like something I could've made at home. My partner got their ricotta gnocchi bolognese (but only tomato sauce, no beef) and it was cold so the flavours didn't pop. It was average at best and also felt like something we could've made at home. For appetizer we got their focaccia bread because our server really spoke highly of it but it was subpar, did not feel like we were having fresh focaccia bread. Because our appetizer came so late, I asked our server if we could cancel it and she said "we are paying for it so you should have it" in a very aggressive tone which I did not appreciate. The server although gave us a space when asked and took the appetizer off the menu, was in general pushy and made us a bit uncomfortable with the tone that she spoke to us. It was a busy night so maybe she was overworked? I would give her the benefit of the doubt. Considering the price of the food, I expected something more than what I got. Would I go again? maybe not but if I do go, I will try more of their meat items because I think those seem to be the favourites.
We happened upon this place across from our hotel and we all devoured our meals! Staff was very knowledgeable. I loved the setting as it's as if you were in a someone's home. Low light and casual ambiance. Glad we came and hopefully I will be back soon!
First thing we noticed was how slow the service was. Most of the tables around us had no food when we were seated and I first wondered if they happened to have table turnover at the same time. Then I noticed how long it took them to take our order.. and the appetizer to come out... and the meals... and dessert... and the bill.. However, the food was decent and the atmosphere is nice. One of the tables had someone propose during dinner. I think it's a good choice to celebrate a special day. Just make sure to leave at least 2 and a half hours for the whole experience.
recently had the pleasure of dining at Lupo Restaurant & Vinoteca in Vancouver's Yaletown, and it was an exceptional experience. The modern ambiance is both stylish and comfortable, creating the perfect atmosphere for a relaxing evening. The staff was attentive, professional, and incredibly knowledgeable about the menu and wine pairings, which elevated the experience.
I've been to Lupo several times now and the food is always fantastic. Ambience is great as well. It's situated inside a townhome and I find it so cute. There's a lot of stairs though. The wagyu carpaccio was delicious and well portioned. Just the right amount of flavour too as sometimes it can be overseasoned/dressed up. The focaccia was like a little pizza with zucchini, tomatoes and cheese. I ordered the beef cheek rigatoni, which was their special for the night. Incredibly tender beef that would just fall apart in your mouth. The fettucine was also great but not as memorable. I've had their creme brulee and orange cake (?) on a different occasion and they were up to the same standard as the rest of the dishes. Unfortunately there's nothing that makes this place extremely memorable for me. Everything tastes good but nothing is so unique and well done that I have to come back to Lupo for it. Still a solid restaurant and one I would recommend to friends but not a must try in my opinion. There was no magic.

Situated in an old house in Yaletown, this restaurant is definitely a different vibe - very homey & we were seated right in front of the fireplace! Octopus Mosaic (2/5) - $20 Taste: I wasn't a huge fan of this dish & maybe it's because I don't have a strong appreciation for octopus, but it had the flavours of Asian preserved dried shrimp snacks from T&T. Portion Size: Shareable for 2 people Taglierini (5/5) - $31 Taste: Served al dente, the mushrooms & garlic taste complimented the noodles very well - it had a milder, savoury taste. Portion Size: Good portion size for 1 Spaghettini Alla Amatriciana(5/5) - $30 Taste: Also served al dente, this tomato based sauce had a lovely kick to it with the chilies used. It's also true that guanciale is on a whole other level to bacon, the savoury taste of the guanciale just spreads throughout the pasta noodles. A great complimentary dish to the milder taglierini. Portion Size: Good portion size for 1 [Value for Money] I'd choose a different appy next time, but truly worth the money for the pastas. A really really solid choice for Italian pastas. Definitely up there in terms of my favourite pastas in Vancouver. read more

Food: 3/3 Service: 1/1 Atmosphere: 1/1 Perfect score for Lupo! I have only good things to say after a wonderful night out! Our waiter(s) were extremely attentive, kind, and helpful. The food and drink were absolutely amazing. We felt super cozy and homey at Lupo too - because it is a beautiful home turned into a restaurant! We had the Wagyu Carpaccio, Fettuccine, and Lamb Shank which were all delicious and we couldn't help but clean our plates even though we were getting full near the end! I would definitely recommend Lupo to anyone looking for a good night out :) read more
Today was our 11th month and we wanted something special. I've been seeing Lupo on Opentable for a while now and decided to give it a gooo! So why not? Try a new place and eventually might make it our regular go-to! When we parked, it looked tiny and was nothing my boyfriend expected. Although, once we got in we both were stunned by how lovely the place was! It was such a cute quaint, small and cozy place! Looked like an older home renovated into a restaurant and it was buzzing with people! We were met by our sweet server, Giovanna! She not only knew what we'd gravitate towards, but she also amazed us by how amazing the food was! We never usually choose seafood in restaurants, but this restaurant was an exception!! All the seafood options were FRESH AND DELICIOUS! They were prepared so well! The presentation and the flavour was on point! So was the truffle pasta and oh my gosh!!!! The dessert! We said we'd stop at dinner but kept going with the chocolate dessert!!! We had such an amazing first time at this restaurant! Thank you to the staff and special mention to Giovanna to the warm welcome!! read more

Wow wow wow! I so wish I took pictures of all the food my friends ordered but this place is truly amazing! Matt was our food "tour guide" and he truly pointed us to some amazing dishes. From apps to our pasta dishes. I had the lobster and prawn pasta. The ambience of the place is just so lovely. We truly enjoyed the whole experience. You must try! read more

Let me start with: if you love homemade italian then this is a must stop. We were recommended this spot by a bartender at our hotel. It was spot on. From the minute you walk in the door they treat you like family. And I mean a good family. Took our coats and hung them up so they weren't draped on the back of the chairs. They bring them back at the end of the dinner warmed. As for the food. Exceptional! We had their two recommended appetizers which were amazing. For the main course one got ravioli special, one got the Veal porterhouse and I requested a linguini pasta bolognese. All of them were completely devoured. For desert we had the Carmel cake and Carmel apple tart. Again demolished. This is a must stop when in town read more

The starter focaccia is amazing The special octopus was disappointing, I was expecting a few big thick tentacles, but the octopus was slightly stale and small Ravioli was yummy but salty Meatballs were small - I prefer the ones at Global or Italian Kitchen Lamb shank under delivered and bland My favorite was the Spaghettini Alla Amatriciana! Al dante, bit of spice, it was very lovely. I paid cash, and the server asked if I wanted all the change or if I wanted a specific amount back. I asked for all of it, but he kept the change and asked if he that was okay. I also asked another server where the bathroom was and he didn't even look at me, it almost felt like he shoo'ed me away. Don't think I'll be returning any time soon. read more

Sat down with my wife and in-laws for dinner. We order focaccia for appetizer which was very fresh and tasted great. Sister in-law and I had tagliatelle nero. My wife wife had halibut from the special menu and her brother had lamb shank. Our server, Jeff, was very professional yet very friendly. Everyone else that came to our table was equally nice. The ambiance is casual and cozy. Everything tasted great and seemed to be prepared from fresh ingredients. For desert we shared a tiramisu. One of the best I have had in long years. Highly recommend it read more

Date: Wednesday, 28 September 2022 Time: Dinner Category: Italian Food Number of person: 2 Price: $180 (incl. tax + gratuity); $90pp ($$$$) Rating: 9.4/10 Introduction: Lupo is a bit in a hidden place which restaurant is located inside a house be like. You would feel very welcomed like in your own house eating here. It got a lot of italain food other than its pasta and got lots of wines and dessert wines and dolci to get. The place is a little bit small and packed with two storeys. Better book your place since it doesnt have many tables. Let's get down to the food! Food: - Meatballs ($22): Meatballs with mascarpone polenta was amazing when you eat them together! Do not eat them seperately because it was super amazing when you eat them together. (5/5) - Lupo Focaccia Bread ($9): The fresh baked focaccia homemade bread was one of the best foccacia i have ever tried. Totally crispy and smooth at the same time. (5/5) - Spaghettini Alla Amatriciana ($33): The spaghettini with guanciale, pecorino romano and tomato was the best amatriciana I have ever tried. The cured guanciale was perfect and was definitely better than di beppe's. You should get this when you come here. Portion was so big and worth the every penny which i could not finish it. (5/5) - Fettuccine ($34): The fettuccine with chicken, summer truffle, peas and prosciutto and crema sauce was very good too. It was a bit interesting but not the best but definitely very good too. Same size like the amatriciana. (4/5) - Tiramisu ($14): The mascarpone with coffee was one of the best tiramisu i have ever tried in Vancouver. This is top tier tiramisu like farina's. The coffee choice was good and the texture and taste was just perfect blending. Top notch. (5/5) Conclusion: Lupo was tremendously amazing! This is somewhere you should go to to celebrate an event at. It was frickin expensive but it was worth every penny. The pasta was super big. My bills came out big because of the drinks and appetizers. Honestly, you shoule get the pasta and you would be enough and perhaps take away some. Very recommended. Cheers! read more

Love this place!!! Perfect cuisine! Lupo is a must-visit for steak lovers! The steak was simply phenomenal. Perfectly cooked, juicy, and bursting with flavor. The presentation was stunning, and the service was top-notch. Highly recommended! read more
Lupo was my first dine-in experience (since pre-social distancing) for my girlfriend's birthday. She had chosen Lupo, which I thought this was my first time here but apparently the same girlfriend chose this same restaurant for her birthday 10 years ago and I was there but I don't remember. So I guess this is my second visit here! It was a lot better than I expected. The entire staff wore masks and every other table was empty. The dinner itself was amazingly delicious. One of the most popular dishes at our table was this Linguine Vongole. There was 4 orders of this (between the six of us) and it was so good! The sauce, the ingredients, the pasta.. everything was perfect. In addition to the 4 orders of Linguine Vongole, we also ordered: Wagyu Beef Carpaccio, Salumi + Prosciutto, Burrata, Stuffed Calamari, Lupo Focaccia Bread, Penne Bolognese, Tagliatelle Nero, and Sablefish. In total.. 5 appetizers and 7 entrees for 6 girls! And we also had 6 bottles of wine, including one Magnum bottle! It sure was a crazy night. Great experience! read more

This place is a huge no. Great service, but we felt like most of the dishes were cobbled together out of kitchen scraps. First, the Caesar salad - touted as having "amazing house-prepared anchovies." We got two unrecognizable, barely there squiggly bits that looked and tasted like the dregs from a bottle of store-bought Napoleon fillets. Next was the focaccia, topped with desiccated tomatoes and zucchini that added absolutely nothing in terms of flavor and substance. Then came my entree, which ended up being the worst $58 I've ever spent. What was described as halibut topped with prawns and scallops accompanied by white asparagus and roasted potatoes turned out to be a disjointed mess of random veggies, woefully undercooked and flavorless fish, flaccid shrimp that I swear came out of a can (Bumblebee, anyone?), and tiny scallops that were just as limp, lackluster, and lame. Only a bizarre medley of vegetables provided some much-needed texture. The asparagus was the best thing on the plate, but the single piece of yellow pepper, a bean salad that smacked of store-bought giardiniera, and a spoonful of raw cauliflower bits were confusing and felt like a total afterthought. Did the chef rescue these sad little veggies and legumes from the compost bin and decide to throw them onto the plate "just for the halibut"? And did he/she mistake sunchokes for potatoes? Because there wasn't a promised potato present, just two very odd chunks of some kind of poorly roasted and seasoned potato wannabe. The profound lack of quality, flavor, and finesse were astounding, especially for the price we paid ($250 for said dishes and three drinks). My boyfriend thought his pasta was okay, despite the pale poached (!) chicken breast that was unceremoniously thrown on top of the dish. Go to Salvio Volpe instead. You'll get good, well done Italian food that actually makes sense for half the price. read more
Food was excellent as usual. My favorite is the black truffle fettucini. I tried the white truffle, but they skimped out on the shaves and it didn't taste as good as the black truffle. Forgot to take photos of the desert but the sorbet is my favorite - they use real fruit! read more
Over the past year, I've come to realize the inflated price point is not justified. The food and service are great, but the price point is pushing the absurd. $300C for 2 people without dessert and no bottle of wine?! Get real. My original post is below and reflects great admiration for the food, but I now feel somewhat abused by the pretentious asking price. If I lived here, this would no doubt become my #1 go-to Italian restaurant in the area. It is a stroke of good fortune that we stumbled upon Lupo during our short visit to Vancouver. Charming location feels like you're attending a dinner party at a friends house. Staff was completely attentive and very knowledgeable on everything on the menu. The also have great features not on the menu. Started with a couple Negronis. They add a squeeze of blood orange to cut through the Campari. Appetizers consisted of burrata cheese, heirloom tomatoes with pesto and balsamic drizzle. Also had a seared veal carpaccio laced with purée tuna and capers drizzled with extra virgin olive oil topped with quail egg and parmesan cheese. Both were excellent. They also brought a fresh focaccia bread topped with zucchini and tomato. Entrees were even more impressive. Scratch made fettuccine simply tossed with olive oil and topped with black truffle table side. The truffles and pasta just melded together perfectly with every bite. Petit filet of grain fed Alberta beef with roasted root vegetables, savory bread pudding and demi glaze. Outstanding quality beef. Dessert consisted of a sweet bread pudding with bourbon gelato. Topped off with limoncello and grappa. This was one of those restaurant memories that will stay with us. Can't wait to return. read more

Came here for my birthday dinner and loved it!! We called early in the night and were able to get a 9pm table for 5 on saturday - def recommend trying to get a reservation a few days before. It was super cute inside very quaint and like you're in someone's house. All the dishes we got were amazing, they know how to cook steak and the special short rib ravioli was delicious. Definitely $$$, so go for a special occasion. Excellent service as well. read more
Came to Lupo for a family dinner and had a really good time. Below are the break downs. Service: 5/5 - amazing service Atmosphere: 5/5 one word to describe it: Homy Food: 4/5 3.5/5 truffle fettuccine: I felt that the fettuccine need 30-40sec more. The texture was a little too hard for me. However the truffle sauce was simply amazing and delicious. 5/5 focaccia bread: NOTE: make sure you save the truffle sauce from the truffle fettuccine. Focaccia bread was absolutely stunning. It was flavorful and yet not too heavy. When you soak the crust in the truffle sauce it created another delicious flavor profile. 4/5 rack of lamb: the meat near the bone was phenomenal however the lamb itself needs a little more seasoning. The vegetables were cooked perfectly. 4/5 Halibut: there are a lot of bright moments in the dish. The scallop was cooked perfectly. The Halibut was spot on. The acidity of the tomato, the earthiness of the seasonal vegetables and the chef secret sauce was the true stars of the dish as they helped elevate the Halibut. I felt the egg omelette was a little extra. Without the egg omelette I felt the dish will be perfectly be fine on its own. 4/5 short rib: you must try the mash potato. I have to say, it was one of the best smash potatoes that I have ever tried in Vancouver. The mash was seasoned perfectly and every bite made me wanted to have more. The short rib was a little dry for me. The tasting profile of the short rib was ok as it didn't really wowed me. I had a surreal time at Lupo as they made it a great night for me and my family! read more

Wow. "Could you please tell the chef that was the best meal I've ever had?" Located inside of a house, this restaurant has history and has talent in the kitchen. I visited Lupo a few days ago with my boyfriend and his parents. I've heard really good things about Lupo in passing, so my expectations were high. They didn't disappoint. The staff was friendly, and the setting was lovely and intimate. No loud music, just a pleasant atmosphere for a lovely dinner. We had a hard time choosing from the menu because everything sounded so appealing. Then the waiter comes by, lets us know the specials for the day, and sends us back to square one. We finally settled on the Tagliatelle Nero, that at the moment, was serving with Canadian Lobster and prawns on squid ink pasta. This was my boyfriend's dad's favourite dish, maybe ever. We also got a couple specials for the day, namely the Veal chop and the Vongoli pasta, and paired it with the Cab Sav from Lupo. Let's just say there were no leftovers, and we all left with a giant grin on our face. Lupo, you guys are killing it, and we can't wait to come again! read more

One of my fav restaurants in the Country! Has a homey feel - as it's literally an old house made into a restaurant. So intimate, lovely and delicious food & wine. Service is also on point as well. My favourite item here is the Sablefish, it is to die for. Highly recommend!!!! read more
One of the most memorable Italian meals I've ever had, and definitely one of the best restaurants I went to during my trip to Vancouver. For one, the look and feel of the restaurant is lovely -- classy, spacious, and warm (feels like a house). I ordered the veal carpaccio (not on the menu) and the braised rabbit / spinach pappardelle. The veal carpaccio was hands down one of the best things I've eaten. The pappardelle was excellent as well -- I'm used to pappardelle with red meat / tomato based sauce, but was so pleasantly surprised with their light buttery / lemon-y sauce. I added on an order for their side of seasonal vegetables. The waiter told me it was mostly root veggies, but asked if I preferred greens. He let the chef know, and ten minutes later I had a delicious plate of zucchini, broccoli rabe, asparagus, heirloom carrots, kale, and green beans in front of me. Was honestly super blown away by how good these veggies were. Overall, an incredibly memorable meal. EAT HERE! read more
I can't believe I've never noticed this homey little Italian restaurant located near Canada Place! The interior of the restaurant was super cozy and homey with the perfect amount of liveliness. The atmosphere of the restaurant felt like I had gone on a little vacation away from home and was absolutely lovely. The food was great and had generous proportions which got me absolutely stuffed. I loved the touch of artichokes on the carpaccio as it gave it gave the dish such a nice zing. One thing I was slightly disappointed with was the service as it was a bit slow and I felt that the waitress was inattentive. I had sat down for 10 minutes and the waitress didn't give me the food menu and it took me a while until I found someone walking by my table to ask if I needed anything. Though, I'm sure I had just caught them in a super busy night. I would certainly still come back to this restaurant in the future. read more

With only 9.16 of my 230 reviews (to date) rating 5 star, please listen to me with I ask you visit Lupo and silently toast to me over an amazing evening out with friends, loved ones or that special first date. You will not be disappointed. If you are, I'm sure it's your problem and not Lupo's. Seriously, it's that's good. Cute and inviting. I'm at Momma's house with hard woods make it loud but that's Italian. Quick service and eager to assist in any selection. As I was sipping my Peocecco to cleanse the pallet and perusing the wine list, a manager walked by and let me know there were a few wines "off list" if I wanted something different. No need. The list was impressive. I chose a medium body red for my meal. Wile the specials sounded good, I eyed the 1/2 orders of pasta as a starter. NOTE: All Italian restaurants should serve a smaller portion of their pastas for an appetizer. If they don't, please ask for it. If you're lucky, they will dish it up and your taste buds will thank you. ALL Italian restaurants should offer small portions of pasta as primi. After inquiring about the gnocchi, of which I was assured it was home made, it was settled. A perfect partner for my Osso Bucco. But how did they fair? Home run for team gnocchi. Not traditional potato so you may be thrown but I aplore you to try it. Soft pillows that don't fill you up. At least not like the potato kind does. Outstanding choice of I do say so myself. The staff appears to be a well choreographed dance troupe. Everyone participated. The hostess and others floated easily with table settings, wine, dirty dishes. I had the feeling of family. It looked effortless. And that's a good thing. The patrons are an awesome mix. As is Vancouver. From new and old dates to friends and coworkers. If you need food, youll fit in here. Attire is smart casual but some were clearly after work suits. All are welcome here. One glass of the Grenache was very good and I asked my server to suggest the next. He's been spot on so far. Rosa de rosi arrives with a nice deep spice and its a perfect match to the Lamb Shank (Osso Bucco). The meat falls off the bone and although I'm not a fan of throwing veggies at a dish in a whim, the peas, carrots and zucinni would do well to add color, texture and flavour. The only suggestion is to ditch the risi bisi (rice and peas) and go with a risotto. The easy reservations through OpenTable made this evening spectacular. While it's hard to repeat when I travel, this is an exception. Thank you for the meal, the service and for making me feel at home. I will see you soon. read more
Lupo is an upscale Italian restaurant in Vancouver. Built within a former home, Lupo pairs great service, a warm & cozy atmosphere, along with some progressive Italian fare. My Overall Rating - 4 1/2 Stars (Atmosphere, Service, Food, Return) Atmosphere - The building Lupo resides in is a former house. As a result, you end up dining in any number of rooms that may only have one or two other tables. It's very charming, and on our visit, we were led up the staircase to our table. Dimly lit, it gives a nice warm, inviting feel as if you were dining at a friend's house. 1 Star. Service - Upon entering, the host & hostess took all our coats to be hung up. Again, we felt like we were at a friend's house. The service was also excellent. Our server was friendly, patient (we had a big group), and explained the dishes to help us with our selections. This was perhaps the best service I had while in Vancouver. 1 Star. Food - I label the food as progressive Italian, as you won't find heavy pastas (lasagna, cannelloni, etc.) We started with an Octopus Carpaccio. Honestly I enjoyed it but prefer mine grilled. Their meatball appetizer but prefer mine grilled. Their meatball appetizer was good (not great) and were a bit small. However, their capreze salad was a standout, with some of the freshest, soft mozzarella I had ever had. This was my favorite dish. Also, my lump crab spaghetti was outstanding. It was served tossed with olive oil so the flavor of the crab stood out. Finally, their after dinner coffee was outstanding. Not sure if it was Illy or not but it was certainly from a French press. Definitely a high quality meal overall. 1 1/2 Star. Will I Return? - Yes. Lupo is a phenomenal fine dining experience. While it's pricy, you're guaranteed to have a great meal from start to finish along with outstanding service. 1 Star. My Yelp Rating Scale (Sum of all parts): 1 Star - Atmosphere - Is it a cool dive? Perhaps an upscale place? No matter the type, atmosphere plays a big part and I'll give a star if I like it or thinks it has great charm. 1 Star - Service - You can have a great meal with bad service. But that's also what can make a five star joint drop to four. It's important to the dining experience that service is great and on point. 2 Stars - Food - I'll award up to two stars for the food, since this is the main reason we dine out. Sometimes the extra star is given for value, but it's really all about the food. 1 Star - Will I come back? - If I know for a fact I'll return, I'll give this a star. A place has to make an impression for me to return. Each Category can be given up to 1 star except food (2 stars) because I consider all these categories important to the overall dining experience. I will sum them up to provide my final Yelp score read more

The ambiance features as a character in this experience so make sure and book a table upstairs, overlooking the street (if coming to a restaurant in this price range is a "treat" as it is for me). The service is highly gracious and personable without being overly attentive. The starters were a favorite part of the meal. The pot of foie gras accompanied with house-made preserves and breads is a must-have-at-least-once experience. I am not a fan of foie gras and this dish makes me a believer. The fresh burrata is everything it should be and more. I generally do not order fish except at establishments prized for it. However, I found a dinner companion's sablefish to be worthy of 'entree order'. I could not try the Ossobuco as we were sharing family style and a member of our party could not have one of the ingredients integral to the dish. I will be back to sample it. The ravioli was quite nice, if not exceedingly memorable. Next time I will try the gnocchi. Everything was artfully presented and the tiramisu was tasty, though not quite up to par with the one my local elderly Italian widower friend makes. The creme brûlée hit all the right spots and the flavour lingered pleasantly. Unless you are a sommelier, ask for wine recommendations. They know their stuff and we were exposed to brands previously unknown to us. If you can, make time for a walk around the neighbourhood and check out the bakery and 'ginger-bread house' style buildings next door. read more
Everything we ordered was exceptional. I ordered the pre event course: Octopus Carpaccio Lamb Shank Ossobucco Lemon Tart The husband ordered Halibut Octopus Carpaccio was quite delightful. The plate was covered with thinly sliced smoked octopus with light sauce and a tiny pile made up of a few pieces of octopus prepared in a different flavorful seasoning with sweet carrots and potatoes. Lamb Shank was on a bright yellow risotto topped with tomatoes. The lamb melted in my mouth with the flavorful creamy risotto blending harmoniously with the lamb and sauce Halibut was mounted on fabulous quality farmer's market veggies, seasoned with a spicy Asian kick. The first bite brought an element of surprise. It was fantastic Finally, the highlight... The Lemon Tart was just perfect. It was heaven. The berries tasted beautifully with the tangy lemon tart balanced by the sweet burnt creme brûlée shell. Absolutely delightful. Our waitress was out of this world. She was incredibly pleasant, informative, and helpful. Food was delightful waitress was delightful oh~ what a delightful night! read more

The exterior of the restaurant is fancy and once you walk in, you'll feel slightly confused whether or not you've just entered a restaurant or someone's house. Quite an interesting concept and an intimate setting inside. Food wise, everything was super delicious! The octopus carpaccio especially was very rich in flavour and an amazing appetizer to start off with. Now for the black truffle fettuccine, at first I thought the fish looked a bit bland for the price, but after a few bites, the flavour really sinks in and explodes. This has got to be the best pasta place I have ever been to so far. It's a great location for a date or just family dinner. read more

I had my belated birthday dinner with my husband and 4 other friends at Lupo and we all really enjoyed our meals :) The service was excellent, food was delicious, cocktails were on point, and the ambience was cute and cozy. I ordered the Black Tagliatelle and it was fantastic. It was made of fresh, high quality seafood and the pasta was cooked nicely with great texture. The sauce was light and garlicky but had tons of flavor. We also had the Octopus Mosaic which wasn't my favorite there but that was probably because I enjoyed the other stuff so much. There was a burrata special which I loved :) I won't go into too much detail with my husband or friends dishes, but I'll post photos for you to see. They were all very tasty. We will be back for sure! read more
My hubby was craving for Italian on Halloween night and I just made a quick rsvn via open table. We enjoyed it all the way from appy to dessert. Our server was pleasant, courteous, and very well-mannered. Meat balls - It's taste good and meat so bouncy. Sliced organic tomatoes, beets and feta cheese salad - Simple and refresh Rack of lamb - It cooked perfectly and well-seasoned. Crab meat spaghetti - Fresh crab meats and light tomatoes sauce, it's so delicious. Cheesecake with blue berries sauce - Rich and smooth cheesecake and fresh blue berries sauce, excellent. Tiramisu - I ordered the same dessert all the time, it's still very good. Lupo never disappointing us and we probably will return more often. read more
