Neighbors use their lawn service and the crew always blows leaves and debris onto my property despite asking them numerous times not to.

We had Lupfer re-grade and sod our back yard after it was torn up from a basement drainage project. Tim was very good at designing our space and providing us with illustrations and quotes for the designs and was very patient as my wife and I tried to figure out what kind of back yard design we were looking for. Ultimately, we ended up going for something basic and simple, but it looks great. Their landscaping crew was very professional and did a great job. I'll definitely look to Lupfer for when we decide to plan more flowers next spring. read more

Tom Lupfer and the folks at Lupfer Landscaping have maintained my yard for over a decade. On of the best days of the year is when the Lupfer sign goes up in my yard. That means the guys are soon to follow for the spring cleanup! Last fall I had Lupfer landscaping make design changes in my front yard. It wasn't a complete redesign, but the changes they suggested really improved the curb appeal. Another thing I really like is Tom's monthly news letter. It's full of great information about things like watering, pruning, etc. Gretchen does a great job of letting me know via email when crews will be out based on weather. This is especially helpful during the snow plowing season. Looking forward to another great year! read more

I called 7-2-14 and was told someone would come out 7-3-14. Excellent! Nope. No call, no show. Left a message on the 3rd, no callback. I tried calling 7-8, it rings & rings. When we moved to the suburbs, we thought having a big yard would be great. Then a couple of months later, after being slaves to our yard and lawn, we gave up and called Lupfer. We never looked back. They cut and treat the lawn, they edge the sidewalks, trim the bushes -- they even weed my flower beds! It is awesome to be able to enjoy our yard on the weekends with our kids without the grunt work. I've used Lupfer for the last two seasons after working with many other landscape firm. I can honestly say the experience has been perfect. We utilize the "full service" package and basically our landscape bed areas and lawn look great whenever there's not snow on the ground! The office has been responsive and the crews professional. Lupfer Landscaping has been taking care of our yard for over 3 years now. We started with them just cutting our grass, but when we decided to redesign our backyard, Tom and his staff came up with a great plan that fit our initial budget and allowed us to improve it as funds permitted. They designed and installed a permeable brick paver patio of different heights with a gas fire pit with some built in seating. We have a grilling area. They installed conduit so we could add lighting at a later time. They also did a smaller redesign of our front yard and planted a perennial garden in a weedy side yard. Tom always works within my budget. We also have expanded our Lawn service work with them. I find the crews to be polite, considerate and dependable. Plus, Tom is helping me with a bee hive. NEVER use this Lupfer Landscaping service. The most unethical people I have ever experienced. Tom, the President of Lupfer, does not finish a job even after you've paid thousands of dollars for a service that turned out horrible. Lupfer Landscaping sodded over my sprinkler head, and by doing this, caused my sod to die! Additionally, Tom promised to replace the sod, and he NEVER came back to fix the HUGE mistake by his landscaping service. read more

The owner agreed to purchase an oak that I would plant - under his supervision - as a memorial for a deceased friend. He quoted $300. When the time came to do it, he doubled the price. I insisted he stick to his original quote, which he called "charity," but reluctantly agreed to. On the day he himself appointed, 8 of us friends waited for him for over an hour - he never showed up. He never called my cell phone. I finally got someone in his office who told me Tom did not get the village permit to plant yet! To this day, he has not contacted me. Since then, the village forester got an oak for me for $150, so Lupfer was trying to surcharge me $450 for a tree I was to plant myself. He never apologized. If the job was too small for him - he should not have taken it. Great business practices! read more

Very similar disappointing experience that others had. Ours was a pretty good size job with need to repave patio, relandscape a large yard, regrading, annual maintenance contract. Very annoying to have wasted my time and effort - meeting with them (twice), multiple emails and phone calls unreturned. Most odd was after initial meeting, we had another meeting a month later that was just a chat - no proposal or estimate had been done in the interim. I wish they rejected the job initially instead of stringing me along for two months. read more

We have had a fantastic experience with Lupfer Landscaping. They did a complete redesign of our backyard including installing a beautiful permeable paver patio and fire pit with built in seating. They came back with a range of ideas at different price points so that we had options. They met our request to use native planting without a problem. They advised on lighting ideas which we installed ourselves. A year later after living with the yard, we had them install annuals to complement our landscape design. I had an awful experience with this company. There were multiple problems but the biggest was the front walk and stairs they installed. The stairs were not done to code and when it was pointed out to Tom he assured me he would fix them. I have asked multiple times but he never followed through on his promise. He also used the wrong stone material to border the front walk. It immediately started cracking and falling apart. Again Tom said he would fix that problem but has not and now will not return calls or emails. This company may do an ok job on regular maintenance but they are not qualified to do any type of stone work or major landscaping project. read more

I was very dissappointed with this service (or lack there of!). After reviewing their website and receiving a referral from a friend, I e-mailed and asked for a quote to have work done on my yard and to have weekly service. First, it took nearly a week for someone to respond to my e-mail (should have been my first clue). Then I was scheduled for an in person review for a week later. After the guy showed up (at the wrong time) he reviewed my options and discussed what I needed. After another week passed with no quote or further communications, I e-mailed again asking what was going on. They apologized, claimed to have discussed my job that very morning and they would e-mail me an estimate in a few days. It has now been an additional 2 weeks and I have still not heard from them. While I am happy and appreciate that a local business is busy - they really need to work on their customer service and simply tell me that they were too busy to take on my job. Luckily, I found another service that is more customer oriented and needed my money. read more
