Wonderful experience with full front yard makeover. We literally removed everything, had a complete new design put in as well as new grass. And from design to execution and even to after care support, owner John & their landscape designer Laura Hope were a pleasure to work with. The best part of the whole experience was the landscaping design services provided by Laura Hope. Once we decided that pretty much everything had to go, I was so overwhelmed with picking the right plants for the climate. One visit w Laura and all that fear went away. She helped us select choices that would look great together, were low maintenance, would flower throughout the year and would stay healthy. Even sent us a computer rendering of what it would look like to help us see the vision after we discussed it. She helped manage the project and with one off questions, even offered her support in the months and years to follow should we need it because of how committed they were to our yards success. This is my second time using John and his crew. They did an outstanding job for me the first time around (see prior review) and this second time did not disappoint. We had an outdated landscape for the front of our house. Lighting changes due to mature trees and landscaping that had been around since the 70's was really pulling down the look of our house. The designer at 1st impressions did a great rendition for a new design concept. John and his crew executed perfectly. Our house now looks twice the size. We needed landscaping for the front and side of a newly built home. I called 1st Impressions for a consultation and quote. Laura, the landscape designer, came to the house and gave us thoughtful ideas for a plan, then promptly sent beautifully rendered images of what the suggested plants would look like if installed on the property. We happily accepted the plan, and within a short time, John and his crew were here to install the plants. We could not be happier. The installation is beautiful, owing to the design, the selection of terrific plants, and careful placement and planting. All around, a superb job. We will be hiring them again to do the back yard. We hired 1st Impression last year to help with the garden bed and weekly mowing as our little toddler is keeping us busy. The garden bed was in terrible shape at first (basically a weed bed) and the crew at 1st Impression did an amazing job cleaning it up and keeping it in shape. They do a great job with the mowing and maintenance each week and cleaning everything up, and I always come home being impressed by my house's clean curb appeal after their weekly visit. Their prices are very reasonable and John is very responsive to requests. We have them continue with the weekly maintenance this year in addition to some additional landscaping work - great trustworthy business all around! read more

His designer, his workers & himself have done an excellent work on our landscape job. I called 3 landscape companies back in late July & no one was available to take my call. I left voicemails. I waited a week & none of the companies called me back. I get it - very busy season. So then, I browsed Google again & came across 1st Impressions. John was available to take my call. Despite him being crazy busy with work, he managed to provide me with great assistance in figuring out what to do for landscaping - very helpful suggestions. He's an honest guy. Anytime I contacted him about questions on what we were going to do, he was always very prompt on contacting me back. His designer gave us 3 wonderful designs to choose from. The ironic thing about finding 1st Impressions is that I told my mom about how the 3 other companies I called never called me back. A day after I got in touch with John, my mom then gives me a name/number of a landscaper their neighbor used that did a great job. I look at the number & it was John's number! We needed dead bushes ripped out & new design that would be pretty low maintenance for the area we have in front of a window. He said he would come at 8am. They showed up a little before 8am. Over the years, I have had mulch layed many, many times, but 1st Impressions did such a nice job i just had to comment. In the past I have had dirty mulch, foul smelling mulch and mulch spread on top of flowers that I have taken so much time to plant. 1st Impressions mulch was exceptionally clean and they were extremely careful when laying it. I've had John De Sitter doing my yard work for the past several years. I used to do it myself, and I am a bit particular (I had to stop because it turns out I'm basically allergic to everything outdoors). John's team has done a great job and kept the lawn and gardens looking good. I have them do everything, including weeding of the gardens (which are large and filled with perennials). If I have any issues (and I rarely do), I drop an email to John and he takes care of it. In my gardens, I have these large, red, flat, and fragile sandstone rocks that I pulled out of Lake Superior. I've had problems in the past getting mulch where the rocks would end up cracked. This hasn't happened with 1st Impressions and they've done mulch for me every year. When I happen to be home when the lawn is being mowed, the crew is friendly and they seem happy, and I really like that. read more
