Each times a disingenuous excuse was given about personnel shortages and inaccuracy on the initial estimate. At the end I had to literally pay them to leave the project. I then found several weeks later that the previously agreed on underlayment for the mulch install was not installed causing a bunch of weeds to grow over newly installed mulch. So that meant another $2K out of my pocket but this time with a different contractor bc I would never engage with these guys again. Strongly advise to be very cautious and look elsewhere.

They were very understanding and kept the quote the same for the spring which we appreciated. Kevin was great to work with which was the same with their whole team. Javier was here the day of and they were amazing and worked quickly. They got the old plants removed and everything cleaned up and then reseeded a majority of the lawn with new grass. We had small requests on the day of and they were very accommodating. 3 weeks later and the grass is coming in great and we are so happy with the work. We will be using Addlawn for all of our lawn care needs!

Even though he wasn't the lowest, we decided to go with him because we felt the most comfortable with him doing the work, understanding our wants and needs, and being able to put those wants and needs into our yard without second guessing our decision. So for peace of mind, knowing that it will be done how we want it and be don't right, it is worth just the few dollar difference from the lowest quote. Oh, for those who might not like he didn't get back to a few of the reviewers, he did get in touch with me right away. Communicated quickly via email (which I preferred). And was flexible with the time on coming to view what needed to be done. I will update my post when the job is done!!!

We contacted Hope's Landscaping in July 2018 for an on-site consultation. We had an aging deck…read morethat was getting little use and wanted to know what was possible if we were to replace it with a brick paver patio. They promptly set up a visit and Ernie came out and checked out the area. A day later, he came back with a vision for what was possible (we literally had no idea what to do and were relying on the opinions of contractors). He explained what would fit the space best, what sorts of things would detract from the space, and the best "bang for our buck." He was open with his pricing, laying out all the details of what was included, discounts, etc. We decided to go with them to: 1) Remove the deck 2) Remove two older raised garden beds 3) Remove an area of pea gravel separating the raised garden beds and deck. 4) Create a two-tiered patio, with curving edges, that steps down to a built-in fire pit and a half-moon style stairs leading up to the adjacent sun room. 5) Put in garden beds edging the patio with custom plants. 6) Finish the area with sod. What followed is the only "less than 5 star" part of my review. We were told a start date of August 25, contingent upon rain and other projects; we completely understood. Late August came and for a couple weeks the communication about the project progress came to a standstill. It took about 3 weeks of voicemails and emails to finally get a response and explanation about the delay (health issues with crew members and some weather delays). I expressed my concern about simply improving communication and from that point forward, we had no issues with the office folk, Ernie, or anyone at Hope's. I think it was simply that they were overwhelmed at the time. Because of the delays, our project ran into a winter "pause." The deck was torn out late fall in 2018, and then in April, the work on the space truly began. One thing that we were VERY impressed with was the thoughtfulness each and every day by the work crew as they packed up to leave. They would pick up the area, organize any tools or bricks, blow off the patio, etc., just to make it "look nice" until the next day, even if the area wasn't even close to being ready for use. When the project got close to being done, Ernie met with us regularly again to discuss the garden beds, finishing the project, and other details. We were given a list of plants to choose for the garden beds (custom listed and appropriate for the shadiness of the areas), and Ernie was receptive to my wanting to create (on my own) a small in-ground strawberry garden (in the pictures, this is the rectangle of bare dirt not covered by the new sod--Ernie gave his opinion on the size and placement of that bed so as to not detract from the appeal of the patio and other beds). All-in-all, we would hands-down recommend Hope's Landscaping, especially if you "lack creative vision" like we did. Ernie has a talent for creating a project FOR YOU and FOR YOUR SPACE.

Ultimately, we ended up going for something basic and simple, but it looks great. Their landscaping crew was very professional and did a great job. I'll definitely look to Lupfer for when we decide to plan more flowers next spring.

Truthfully there is very little lawn at any of these locations and so it has been fairly low stress. Mainly cleanup and snow in the winter. But over the course of our engagement I quite regularly showed up at the properties to find that nothing had been done in weeks, I'd make a call and things would usually be addressed promptly. BUT it appeared I generally had to actually call them out. At the and of this season I had to call and prompt for a fall cleanup. The crew cleaned up the leaves at one property and then filled up my tenant's garbage cans AND the neighbors with the lawn waste. Yeah that was a big problem for me. I had previously showed great patience given the context...it's only a yard. right?...but Sadly , over the last snow on Jan 23 and 24 they simply failed to show...24 hours later and still nada. I have aged tenants out shoveling the snow because the people I PAY fail to arrive. When I suggested via email that they need to arrive with greater haste or I'd need to find another service...I was basically told that I had an outstanding debt and I could shove it! Oh and there billing patterns are abysmal as well... So yeah my ire is raised...I was so patient with this unreliable service...shame on me. Find another option, why give your money away.
