Busy but no long wait early on a Friday evening. Comfortable relaxed classic texmex decor and friendly efficient service. Drinks and dinner at the bar. Bartender was happy to fix up a jalapeño top shelf margarita, not on the menu. Wife loved her skinny margaritas. Nice selection of draft Mexican beers. Salsa was thick and tasty, though the chips were a bit stale. Served with a second little bowl of pinto beans, not sure why. Extra credit on the queso for including pickled jalapeño slices on the side. Classic tex mex enchiladas were perhaps the best I've found in DFW, and, trust me, I've been looking. Did not care for the grilled onions on top, would definitely ask next time to leave off or replace with chopped fresh onions. Queso on top is a little over the top, but I'm not complaining about that one. Classic sides of Rice and refried beans were good. Very long wait but the food is ridiculously good. Our waitress was awesome too. They tried to sit us in the back at a booth but the booth was messed up and they really need to fix that. It was the middle booth so if the person sitting behind you wanted to push their booth forward to them then your seat would be pushed farther away from your table. i'm hadn't been here in a year but i've always been hesitant about what to order. my husband ventured out if his comfort zone and ordered flat enchiladas. he indicated it was so good and filling that he couldn't finish it. leftovers for him. i changed up my tastebuds and ordered the crab and avocado enchilada. it was absolutely delicious. and this is coming from a picky eater. the cream sauce was perfectly made and not spicy. the rice and beans cooked very well. our server was very attentive and the manager even came by to say hello. great experience and will come here again. read more

Lupe Lupe oh how we like your tortilla's and the fajitas we wrapped in them. We had just got off our plane at DFW and were looking to reward my stomach and our kids for picking us up. As this was Saturday evening and a college football day the first place we stopped was standing in line. Lupe T's was a little better but we took the 20 minute wait in stride- interesting with a 6 year old along. We decided on the Fajitas Grandioso for the four adults. We were not disappointed. The bacon wrapped shrimp- delightful, the beef - splendid and the chicken fine. Their salsa gets a shoutout as well. I had been out of town for two weeks and had to feed my Tex- Mex. First time to visit this restaurant. It was crowded and people waiting for tables at 7pm. We walked in and got seats at the bar immediately. Bar tenders were attentive. Good selection of draft beers and the house margarita on the rocks is one of the best we've ever had in DFW. Chips are served with a delicious salsa and a small bowl of beans. Ok everyone....let me start with the positives. The food was really good. Great food. The taste was outstanding! Also, the manager was great. I will get to that later. I went with a large group. It was a last minute large group so I want to say the place is accommodating. There were 21 of us. They seated us within approximately two hours. That to me was outstanding because the place was packed! They made it happen for us so much thanks! Now the negative! Our server practically made everyone order steak fajitas. He lied and said we had to because we were a large party. He said only a few people could order different things. I knew this was strange but I kinda did not say anything because they accommodated us as I explained earlier. It was messed up because another large party came in after us, approximately eighteen people, and they ordered whatever they wanted. Well, on top of that the server screwed up the checks. We told him in the beginning we wanted separate checks but he put orders ....he basically mixed everything up. On top of that, the restaurant charged a service charge that we could not take off. The manager came in and told us that he did not tell him to do that. He credited some of our meals and pretty fixed what he could. We were very grateful to him. I recommend going here but be aware of this in case you get that server or if a server tell you some nonsense like that. 1/5/25 My girlfriend and me wanted to have a date night so we decided to go to what we thought was a nicer restaurant. When we entered in we noticed they weren't super busy so the hosts seated us automatically. The hosts were super nice so we had no problem with them. The issue is we sat at the table waiting for a server for 15 minutes. Multiple servers passed by us and made eye contact with us, but they didn't say a word. I noticed after one of the servers walked by the table they went up to the host stand to ask about us and pointed in our direction multiple times while he was up there. This place has a nice Mexican themed atmosphere. My friends and I went around 2:20 on a Friday afternoon, so it was not packed. We ordered drinks at our table from the bar, which took about 15 minutes to get that was our only complaint. My mother stayed in the area before and after we took a trip. We wanted to be near the airport but wanted a casual Mexican restaurant. We had brunch there before we left and dinner after we got back. I had the chilaquiles for brunch and ordered it spicy. I was told it would "light me up" it did not. It was tasty, but I would never call it spicy. I like spice but I am pretty sure my 10 year old nephew could have easily taken this down without a problem. For dinner, I got the barbacoa tacos and my mom got the spicy chicken tacos. We both ordered a margarita. The margaritas were good. The barbacoa was good, bit the corn tortilla got really mushy really fast and fell apart before I could finish half a taco. The spicy chicken tacos were not good. Our waiter told us it was an acquired taste. It was a puffy taco with like a chile coated chicken tender placed inside. However the flavor was weird. It was both bitter and a little sweet. And again, definitely not spicy. The salsa was very mild but smokey and tasty. The chips were fresh. It took quite a while for everything to come out and the hostess tried to sit us RIGHT next to the bathroom entrance even though the restaurant was only half full. My experience here was very disappointing. I've eaten here several times.. it's a well lit and festive scene and they normally don't let me down but today was a disaster.. First I walked in and wasn't greeted by the host, we had to wave them down.. we were told it would be a 10-15 minute wait for a table but waited 50 minutes. I ordered the steak enchilada dinner and made it clear I wanted it medium well steak and my steak came out very well done.. I told them it was well done and she apologized saying she forgot to make it medium well... A man who I believe was the manager also came out apologized and advised me that because it comes out on a heated skillet it may have over cooked the steak. He then suggested I get it medium so that way the serving skillet doesn't over cook it again.. I obliged and asked for it medium... 15 minutes later he brings me out a medium steak on a plastic plate... defeating the purpose of what he suggested... Two margaritas, one chicken quesadilla, and one fajita steak burrito $66.00 dollars before tip. My burrito alone was $21.00, I know the restaurant industry has seen an inflation increase, but Holy Moses!!! The chicken quesadilla had a fantastic flavor, but the kitchen was extremely stingy with the meat and cheese filling. The tortilla was huge, with most of the filling in the center. Leaving the edge of the quesadilla, mostly bread. My burrito was delicious. However, after I asked the waitress the size difference between the original and the fajita, she honestly explained, there was no size difference, just the price difference. All the burritos are the same size. Mine was smaller because I opted for no lettuce, which made it much smaller in size. I appreciated her honesty as a consumer, which let me know if I hadn't requested no lettuce, my meat portion would have been smaller than what I received. In my opinion, this spot is an upscale establishment where you pay for the ambiance. Because this same meal we could have purchased elsewhere for cheaper. My 2nd time at a Lupe's - 1st time at this location. The restaurant appeared to be practicing social distancing when seating customers and staff were masked up. The menu is also via a barcode on each table. I was seated- ordered a drink - and went to the ladies room half way expecting my drink to be on the table when I returned. Not only was there no drink but it took an additional 10 to 15 minutes for delivery once I returned. My waitress walked by more than once and was careful not to glance my way. The restaurant wasn't super busy so I'm not sure what the delay was. Aside from that my waitress was super sweet and attentive after I received my food. Speaking of the food- it was just as flavorful as at the 1st Lupe's I visited. I came for the fajitas and that's what I savored every single bite of. I'm not a fajitas girl but most fajitas don't have the fall apart - mmmmmm factor - beef like the fajitas at Lupe's. I dig the fact that their flour tortillas come in all sizes. The super large are perfect for the fajitas as you can double wrap so nothing falls out. Another great perk is that shredded cheese is free. It actually comes as part of the fajita flag! So many restaurants now charge for the shredded cheese. I declined the sour cream but assume there is a charge for that. The frozen mango margarita was so good I enjoyed two. I mentioned earlier that the staff was masked...all but the person who bussed my table as I was finishing my 2nd drink. His mask was hanging from one ear. Alyssa is an absolute disgrace of an employee to have behind the bar. She had no hospitality and a horrible attitude from the moment we sat at the bar. She did not greet us with the proper disposition that should be coming from someone who is in that position. Hospitality is the key to any thriving business and she needs corporate training on how to talk and deal with people. Did the TRUMP hat on my head have anything to do with it? Hmm i don't know but what I do know is...she made the decision to have an attitude and treat me with hostility instead of a warm greeting and a smile. she got aggressive and told me I didn't look 21 and I have to be 21 to sit at the bar when I showed her I was 31 on my Texas ID given to me by our government on my phone she said "oh no that doesn't work" that I needed to go to the car and grab my physical copy to SIT at the bar. The whole point was that I am 31 and I PROVED that but it wasn't good enough for her because I "looked young to her." I didn't even order a drink. I don't drink. I was just coming to have a nice meal with my man. She wanted to have my physical id just so I can EAT. I wasn't drinking. She had a power trip and was hostile for no reason. My id on my phone or in person doesn't change my birthday. It's common fucking sense. I'm still going to be 31 on both cause it's the same document. Mind you, I had no problem grabbing my physical id but I did have a problem with the way she attacked and handled her disposition by me just sitting there. By the way we've been regulars at this location for 3 years and I've never been approached or talked to in such a demeaning way. Ive been to this location many many times and have spent THOUSANDS of dollars at this location and NEVER BEEN ASKED TO SHOW AN ID TO EAT AT YOUR BAR WHEN IM NOT DRINKING. Never once. But today it was her little power trip and she wanted to feel superior. she didn't hold the same policy for EVERY person sitting at that bar but she did it to me? You don't get to pick and choose who you hold to your rules it's either everyone or no one. And it's either consistent every time or not at all. From ALL employees. She is a horrible bartender and this location will lose out on thousands of dollars by having a bad employee like that behind a bar. She needs a deep reconsideration by her employers and corporate should be worried that they have staff that poorly represents their brand and is costing them long time business. She should be replaced with an employee that smiles and is great and kind and knows what true hospitality looks like and operates as such. Never going here as long as she is behind the bar. A disgrace and horrible employee by choice. She choose to be nasty when there were a million different ways she could have approached me and talked to me nicely to get her same point across and made money instead of having such a bad attitude and personality that I would never want to be spending my money on. The food is very good but the waiters are not as friendly, especially after you fill out a negative comment form on them.... His name is Angel. He brought me my order to the bar and didn't say a single word to me. I'm like does customer service only exist if you're at a table here; screw the bar folks... Then it hit me.... First time trying Lupe Tortilla. For the tex-mex genre, I liked it more than Mi Cocina. I got the Tilapia Veracruz. It was a bigger portion than I was expecting. Nice sized fish, and a few small shrimp hidden in the sauce, but still felt a little pricey for $19. The sauce was real tasty... Probably not too healthy though, being a cream sauce. Rice and beans were good too. I liked the variation of boracho beans instead of refried. They had Negra Modelo on tap, which made me happy. We were seated on the patio, and had a medium size group (like 8 people), and our server handed us well (I think she was Danielle?). Overall, a good experience, but nothing outstanding. That only annoyed me because the table next to us, that came in after us, was given priority. But my table and that one did both have middle aged white women, and you know how we can be. I visited this place on 10/22. I ordered veggie food and was charged for adding a couple veggies to cheese enchiladas. I ordered two entrees and only got rice and beans with one as I didn't want to waste food . I am a strict vegetarian. There was chicken piece with the food we received and still we were charged $8 bucks for the extra veggies. I am extremely dissatisfied. No courtesy at all. They could be sued for being careless . The server was confused the whole time . When we told him about the chicken piece he said I am not sure how that happened .
