Great place for breakfast or lunch! The cod nuggets and fries are the best I've had in a long time

This place is great if you want some yummy comfort food! They have the best beef and noodles special on Wednesdays

We have had a variety of Lunch Box Cafe's food. For the most part, we are happy with their food and service. The restaurant has a good section and some specials on weekdays, we believe. If it isn't done right, I believe they will do it over. Sometimes it is a little hard to find a parking spot. read more

First time having the food and got the salmon steak said it a popular item and not sure why... dryest salmon I've ever had.

Lunch Box Cafe is a good, neighborhood diner. Friendly, quick service, and plentiful servings at a reasonable price. I like the $5 two egg breakfast. You get 2 eggs cooked any way, home fries (with or without onions), choice of meat (link or patty sausages, bacon) and toast or pancake. One additional extra that I appreciate: they have jams/jellies WITHOUT high-fructose corn syrup!! (Kraft Brand...the Smucker's has the HFCS!) The burgers are good (must be the bacon grease on the grill!), dinner specials are good too...try the stuffed green peppers or the pork chops. Their 12 piece "broasted chicken" is great as a take-out. read more

I just found out that residents from my my moms assisted living location went to the lunchbox cafe today. After leaving the restaurant to load back up in the bus the manager came out and told them they were no longer welcome back as some of the people didn't leave tips. These wonderful elderly people look forward to getting out once a month to a different restaurant. I find this behavior rude and unacceptable. These men and women deserve our thanks and respect. Many of them are veterans. I wonder if the servers or manager would treat their parent or grandparent with such disrespect. Granted servers make their living on tips but wouldn't it be a better world if our elders were shown respect rather than told never to come back to a place on their one monthly outing. The staff at this AL facility do so much to try to make their residents golden years truly golden. Shame on this manager for such rude behavior. read more

Discovered this place when i bought my house in Fort Wayne a couple years ago. While we were working on it we went pretty regularly. Never Had a bad meal, nice little side salad. Their white fish is wonderful, and their "Char-King" burger is great. They have great daily specials which are always a good choice. But the best thing is their crazy amount of choices of homemade pie. My favorite is Lemon Meringue or the Rhubarb. But I tried the vinegar pie which is kind of like Pecan pie on steroids. Great little place!!! I am wondering if they have carry-out during this Covid 19?? read more

Love this place! Huge midwestern menu, great portion sizes and very reasonably priced. Still "new" back to the midwest from a long time in AZ and were actively looking for a place like this and it didn't disappoint! We've had takeaway a few times, and always good. Love their sweet potato crinkle fries and their pies are yummy so far. Hubs had a pattymelt just today and he was impressed, as they are one of his favs to eat. Can't wait to try their breakfasts! read more

I consistently get the same sandwich here for fear of getting something else that might not be quite as good(doubt it...). The Tuna Melt. I've only had this sandwich at the Lunch Box Cafe. I don't understand the sorcery that this sandwich is...?? It confuses my tastes buds... Just join me as I take you on this visual journey of deliciousness... Wow, the smell... it smells like a homemade cheese toasty, but it looks like heaven. When you bite into this, you die, but then The Lord brings you back to life to enjoy the taste again. You receive this sandwich sliced(the beauty, the precision.) The buttery crispness of the toasted bread is flawless, but you don't even get time to savor that because the sweet tuna shows up and proves its worthy... the melted cheddar is the Robin to the Tunas Batman. The 2nd half of the sandwich is its own story. Tuna meets Swiss... Swiss wins the award for best supporting ingredient in the best sandwich romance. Now every time my wife says shes making tuna salad for lunch/dinner, I get sad... I stare out the window, it begins to rain... Adele's Hello begins to play as I reminisce on the times that I've enjoyed with The Tuna Melt... A regular tuna salad sandwich is not the same... Where did we go wrong...? Then I realize how awesome it is to work just down the street from Lunch Box Cafe. (Pharrell's Happy plays in the background as the sun begins to shine) Lunch breaks... Lunch Breaks are good now. OK serious note, the only annoyance are the stares from other customers who are usually older, maybe its the dreads. In any case I didn't think it would be fair to give them 4 stars just because they have a few customers who act like they've never seen another human before. Cheers! read more

What a wonderful experience. Tried this gem on a whim and thoroughly enjoyed. Had the Patty Melt and it was one of the best I have had. Cooked to perfection on toasted marbled rye. My daughter had the fried food and said it was delicious. Can't wait to go back and try more read more

One of my favorite restaurants in town. My family has been going to the Lunch Box since it was over on Maplecrest. Great old fashion steak burgers, fresh fried fish, homemade pies, and more. I have never had a bad meal here so it's worth a try. read more

I'm in love. This place is honestly a surprise waiting for you to discover it. Service was awesome and fast! The servers are easy to get along with and personable . The environment is a more diner feel and is pretty laid back. Not much seating for how many people come in. Food is outatanding. My fiancée and i ordered the chicken pita wrap and are in love. Its so rish and flavorful and isnt pricey at all. Barwable for most items!! Highly recommend read more

Food is okay, but seriously no masks? You all look uneducated and completely ignorant. Switch off Fox "News" and get with it. The CDC is recommending face coverings. Way to care about your customers. read more

Lunch Box is no-frill, but everything you could want from a small diner. It's a great place to head with a couple friends after a night out, and has reasonable prices and a casual atmosphere. The Dagwood is probably the most ridiculous and most fun thing on the menu. It's absolutely monstrous, and for the price, a bargain if only for the quantity. I always seem to be a little disappointed with the breakfast menu as the omelets seem a little bizarre. It's definitely a "what you see is what you get" establishment. Lunch Box doesn't pretend to be anything fancy, and provides quick, reasonable diner food. read more

Stumbled upon this place while on business in Fort Wayne. The place was packed but we were sat promptly. I opened up the menu and my first thought was "I don't think they have changed the menu prices since 1988". I went the eggs, bacon hash brown route. Everything was cooked perfectly and in HUGE portions. I noticed others around me ordering burgers that were served with a giant tower of onion rings so I will be going back to dive into the lunch fare next time. Our server was friendly and helpful and kept my coffee and water full. I love this little breakfast/lunch joint and will be visiting it again when I am in town. read more

We are traveling from Detroit to St. Louis- just happened to stop here even though it didn't show up on google maps. Lunch was excellent - had the specials, sloppy joe and Chicken and noodles over mashed potatoes- highly recommend! read more

I should have started my meal with the pie! It was so good made with blueberries and so fresh and homemade. As for my Gyro, it probably wasn't the right things to order, but it was pretty good anyway. The servers were friendly and prompt with smiles. read more

My boyfriend and I love this place for our Sunday after church meal. It has never disappointed. The food is always hot and delicious. The servers are always attentive and friendly. This place does a great job. I have yet to try a menu item I didn't like! You can't go wrong. read more

Good for breakfast. Typical place for standard breakfast and lunch items. Nothing stands out as unique. The wait staff struggles to be prompt and responsive. read more

Have eaten here several times with large groups or just my wife and I. The staff is usually prompt, however when it gets busy I get the impression that they are understaffed. I think the food is good, not mind-blowing or anything. I enjoy the country fried tenderloin the most. It is enormous and normally I have to take half of it home. The fries are good and you actually have choices on what types of fries. Price is reasonable and I like supporting local establishments. With that said, there are a few negatives. Have had a couple of servers who are not very attentive (have also had some outstanding servers). The shrimp appears to be typical frozen shrimp, but you cant really expect fresh shrimp in Fort Wayne. Biggest disappointment for me was the pies. They have a small board listing the pies when you walk in so I got the impression that they were these spectacular ones. I ordered the pecan cream pie and discovered a pie with vanilla custard and pecans on top. Maybe I just got a bad batch or something but it was very underwhelming and ended up in the trash can at home. But the positives far outweighs the negatives here. Its a good location (not in too busy of a location), the staff is normally on par, and the food is tasty and affordable. A very good place to stop in for lunch or to bring the family. read more

I was in Ft. Wayne Labor Day weekend and ate here twice. It's a no-frill, large-portion diner with exceptional prices. I had the fish sandwich special the first time... it was a little underwhelming, but very cheap and everyone else dining with me loved their food. The next day at breakfast, I was amazed at the portions; even on what was on the kid's menu. It all tasted great. read more

My son and I ate lunch here today. I had the chicken wrap with spicy ranch. Very tasty. Son had the roast beef Manhattan, a hot roast beef sandwich. He devoured it. Very reasonable and generous portions. Waitress offered good service. read more

I have been there twice for lunch, it is good food at a decent price, but there is nothing particularly special here. Nice place to have a quick lunch. read more

Went last Friday around 5pm, wifes' taco salad had 5 chunks of lettuce just a little smaller than a cue ball! Also, the taco container was tough and bland. Said something about it to the server--to no avail. Upon checkout, said something about it--same response. Maybe this was because the staff looked to be 18-23 and didn't have much business experience. We've heard that the pies were good but don't see much reason to go back. read more

The lunch box offers a decent meal at a very fair price. It is diner style, with friendly service and tasty eats. This is the kind of place to grab a good sandwich or a quick breakfast. They do 'diner basics' well. read more

Burgers are great, nice selection of home cooked food. The Dagwood is an experience. When they say its big, they mean it. We fed a family of six for less than $60. Nice alternative to chains when you want some simple yet good diner type food. read more

We have ordered carry out fish often since they opened. Never again! The last few times it was greasy and about half the amount we usually get. Then tonight I thought we would try one more time but instead a woman answered the phone, asked me to hold, put the receiver down and 10 minutes later I am still listening to the staff discuss orders and argue. Went with Cracker Barrel and that is where I will continue to go. This place is a joke! read more

Great diner type place. The service is prompt and super friendly. We were remembered by our last waitress after only our second time here. The plates are very generous, we always leave full and satisfied. We have not had something we diskliked yet. The broasted chicken was especially good and they serve breakfast all day. The best American home style type of food around town. Could not ask for a better home cooked meal that did not have to come from my own kitchen. read more

We like to come here on occasion, the food is good and the prices are reasonable. Two people can split the chicken strip meal. Nothing spectacular, just good comfort food reasonably priced. read more

We had a fantastic dinner here last night. My mom had cod, I had the whitefish, & my husband had a grinder -- all were great. Not too expensive. Fast & friendly service. Win/win/win. Try it! read more

Very good chicken and homemade noodles. Good meal. Busy at lunch time so don't be in a rush but food was worth the wait.

This place is always packed for a reason and it is not atmosphere. Always great food and service and price is just right

I used to love this place when I still ate meat. The prices are very fair and you get a lot for what you pay for. I used to get a chicken pita and it was so delicious. You could also get it spicy with a spicy ranch and peppers. I like the fact that you can substitute your french fries for this meal for a side of carrots and celery instead to try to be more healthy. I also really enjoyed the salmon that I got there. It was very flavorful and juicy. I got their fried pickles as a side it wasn't too impressed. They were a little too salty for me. Overall, there are so many different choices here that I guarantee you'll find something that you'll love. Sometimes it gets really busy in there and service is a little slow but they usually looked quite understaffed most of the time that I've gotten bad service. I wish they had more vegan and vegetarian options because I truly do love this place. read more

I hate to complain. Bad food I can overlook. Bad service I can't. I even admitted it was my fault for ordering the wrong thing. To be accurate it was my child's meal and was proud to pick her own meal thinking I knew what she was getting thought we would be okay. When our waitress made a big deal out of how the broasted chicken takes longer I was expecting a big deal rather an almost 10.00 plate of bones with a side of fries. My child looked so disappointed she made the wrong choice and I even apologized I knew it was our fault and I offered to pay the difference and or pay for a whole new meal. I took my plate over to where you were busy folding silverware what for tomorrow?? You close after lunch. Pretty sure it was the manager who told me to take my plate and go back to my seat A chicken tender was brought to my child. Thanks for that. It wasn't so much the food I can get over that it was the service you provided as to why I am writing this review. Come to think of it the overpriced club sandwich wasn't all that either. I've heard so many good things about your establishment and I hope this is just a one off for you. read more

Food was pretty decent but the hash browns were bland. Service wasn't great, coffee tasted watered down.

We had stopped coming here about 18 months ago, but decided to give it another chance. The food is fine, but the service is challenging. Waitress was nice, but food (nothing complicated) for lunch took over 40 minutes to arrive. read more

Went there today. First they play Fox News on TV which is fine, I don't have to watch, but it sends a clear message. The food was mediocre at best and service was second rate. We asked for a side of mayo. We had to ask twice. Apparently they were out of mayo. Really? A diner with no mayonnaise? Then the server proceeded to spill coffee all over the table and my plate. I understand accidents happen. The problem was how she handled it. She never apologized, just walked away and brought me three napkins to wipe it up. That did it for me. Won't go back if that's how they treat their customers. read more
