So happy to be back in Spokane so I can enjoy Luna's incredible kale salad at home or in the restaurant. I am surprised at the review that accuses this restaurant of being racist, because for the eight years I have been attending this restaurant I have found the owners ,the staff and the personnel to be incredibly welcoming to my friends and guests who represent broad diverse backgrounds. It sounds like an unfortunate mis understanding that began before the meal started. I hope both parties can reconcile. Especially now we need more kindness all around. The food, drinks, and venue are amazing! I have the best meal each time I go, I was recently here for brunch a week ago. Unfortunately the service sucks and has always sucked. I don't know if they teach a class on how to ignore customers or that by being at their restaurant it's some how burden on the server but it's the attitude. Our server was so bad and rolled her eyes at us several times my friend went to talk with the manager who responded "well it's Sunday brunch thats just how it is" like umm okay so on Sundays we are okay to be rude? Pretty place located more south on the South Hill, near Egger's. We started with some complimentary in house bread and homemade butter. It was some kind of cinnamon swirl and very delicious! I ordered the dungeoness benedict. It sounded so good to me - eggs, muffin, avocado with homemade roasted potatoes. The potatoes were small bite sized pieces with a crunch on the outside. Yum! The eggs were cooked perfectly, but as I was chewing, I found out there were small chunks of onions in it! :( Normally I ask if there are onions in dishes where there might be a variation, but I've never heard of eggs benedict with onions so I didn't ask. I'm deducting stars because it was never listed on the menu. I can only imagine how bad it would be if someone allergic was eating it. I'll come back to Luna again, but not for awhile. read more

I have heard so much about this south hill spot. Was very excited to finally try. Upon entering to your right you see the open kitchen. Copper pans hanging hanging in the kitchen and in the corner the 800 degree pizza oven. The restaurant really has this soft flow to it. You have a choice of sitting in the bar, the patio or inside. Service was a bit slow to start. I'm not really sure who was my waitperson. I was tucked in a corner. But after a bit I received water and bread My server was attentive. Took my order and was off. She was kind and checking up on me. I ordered a mushroom salad that was excellent and scallops that were amazing. Dessert was a berry crumble. I'm not sure I would consider it a crumble. More a berry cookie. All in all it was real Holly cow. My second week staying in spokane and dinner at Luna. Tonight was bomb amazing. They were pretty booked up and full. Only seats in bar and patio. At 100 degrees. So it was bar. Our waiter codi was amazing. A gem. You could tell they were busy with some people transitioning to a sales pitch meeting. Lol like amway in the banquet room but Cody was a star. Last week while there I did the scallops. This week. Filet, with a chard tomato and beef broth. A beet salad with cumin vinergarette. Also a salmon board app. The filet was so frigin tender. The broth was so sexy, herbs, I tasted worchurshire (spelling ugg) just a bomb. The cumin vinergarette on the beets so perfect. Probably the last time we will go to Luna. We went to celebrate our 31st anniversary of meeting (we also had our wedding brunch there many years ago). My very small portion of sea bass arrived partially uncooked. Had to go back to the kitchen and by the time it returned my husband had almost finished his dinner. For $44, I was sorely disappointed: expected at least a few vegetables on the side, instead of just grits, a minced vegetable sauce, and sprouts. Definitely not a meal. Our shared dessert was comped, which it would have been anyway due to our anniversary, but the $44 remained on the bill, and there also was an inexplicable "service charge," which our waitress said was "for the kitchen." Felt a bit like salt in the wound after what was supposed to be a celebratory dinner that turned into a large disappointment. There are a lot of good restaurants in Spokane that may not have the upscale ambiance of Luna, but feature way better food for a far more reasonable price, and I have never had to send anything back for being uncooked. read more

Would not recommend this place to anyone. Our family made reservations for my papa's birthday and got incredibly rude service from the moment we walked through the door. We were not welcomed or even acknowledged for 15mins as we waited by the hostess table. We were then just asked if we had a reservations(which we did) and were seated right away. Unfortunately service to our table was not great throughout the night. we were left at our table for big chunks of time before we could order, before we could get refills on our waters, and throughout dinner service. It felt weird that other tables were getting checked on and waters filled around us as servers rushed around our table trying not to make eye contact with us. When dinner came we had 4 out of 7 people from our table order burgers, medium rare, when they arrived they were charred black and over cooked. We brought it up to our waitress and she raised her voice argued with us in front of everyone that they were perfect but just in the middle and that all the burgers were cooked that way. We just had to get to the middle were it was perfect she stated. One of the burgers Patty's even crumbled apart by just picking the burger up. We aren't the type of people to send food back, so we tried to finish them best we could. I personally did not even get my meal and waited another 20 minutes till we could track down a waiter to ask if it was still on the way. I ended up getting scallops and they were cooked perfectly, I was very happy with my dish even though I only got to start eating as everyone else were finishing up. We appreciated that the manager for the night came and quietly tried to apologize and that he offered to fix our bad experience with free desserts, but we declined so that we could leave sooner than later. We were disappointed with the attitude of our condescending server(the other ladies that helped refill our waters and clear plates were very kind though), time management of our table, and overall the quality of the food for the price. We have come to Luna several times in the past two years, trying to give it a chance , sadly it has continuously gotten worse with each visit. read more

The atmosphere of this restaurant is lovely, and the staff was wonderful, but the food was terrible. I had the pepperoni pizza which cost $21. The sauce tasted like it was out of a can of tomato paste. I honestly thought that it tasted like a frozen pizza. I only ate half (because I was hungry) and couldn't box it up to go home. My husband had the burger and he said the beef patty tasted frozen. He remarked that he would have been happier with a burger from a fast food place. Have wanted to try Luna for a long time, and, if I could, I would give my experience 10 stars! My sister treated me to Luna last nite (Monday 2/26/18) for my birthday dinner. During the Inlander's Restaurant Week, it's a great opportunity to try a restaurant that I haven't been to before. Luna's homemade bread & butter was on our table immediately; nothing like fresh bread! Then, we ordered the restaurant week dinner: My sister started with the Butternut Squash Bisque with crab (crab was an additional charge) & I had the Salmon Charcuterie; while her soup was very good, my salmon was fantastic! Then my sister ordered the Crispy Pork Cutlet & I ordered the Poached Prawns; while my prawns were large & delicious with a wonderful sauce, I preferred her cutlet. I would have ordered that except I'm not a fan of rosemary and most restaurants roast red potatoes with that (I could have asked too!). The finish to our wonderful dinner was the beautiful & delightful Petit Fours: four tiny little bites that packed a flavorful punch! Exemplary service was provided by Jill; she was very friendly & attentive without being intrusive. I absolutely loved our experience and our meal here. Out of all the restaurants I have visited over the years during Restaurant Week, Luna is one of my top two favorites. (The other is Hill's downtown, btw). read more

Where do I start? To say Luna never disappoints does such a disservice to the establishment and the staff. We come here a few times a year and each time we leave asking "why aren't we coming here more?". Kudos the the staff both in the kitchen and the servers. The food is epic and the service is even better! Wife had the filet and I had oxtail fettuccine. Both were absolutely off the charts. Steak didn't even require a knife and the flavor of my fettuccine was incredible. Our server, Tim, was easily the best server we've ever experienced at any restaurant. Average at best. Have been twice in the last month. And prior to that it had been years and years. I used to have such fond memories of the food at Luna. Recently, it's bland and over priced for what you get. The Kobe burger has no flavor. And the halibut is tiny for the price you pay. I do think the atmosphere is beautiful and inviting. The patio is awesome! The server I had both times I've been recently was great. I wish I remembered her name. She is the reason I give 3 stars instead of 2. I most likely won't be back because I just don't think the food is that good. If I'm going to spend the money I'll go to clover instead. Update: their bloody Mary's are average at best! Their brisket hash breakfast is extremely salty and dry. The rosemary potatoes were over cooked. For $16 it should be made better than it was. The server was awesome. Gorgeous resto right in south hill. First time in Spokane and Luna's charm is definitely a winner. Beautiful European vibe, service and wine list superb. My lunch choice however was salty - so so salty. Went for the fried chicken Sammy - with Luna salad. The pickles were overpowering and the chicken might have been brined for too long. Not my fave - the brioche bun was good however. Since I'm a foodie who cares most about grub, I'm quite blue by this experience but will definitely give it a go the next time. Everyone raves about this place and I can see it has a following. Not the best Dairy free or Vegan options - so if you're a veggie nut - Luna might not be be your jam! There's a ton of places with great food in Spokane. The service is what separates lunas from the rest. Jared is hands down the best waiter in Spokane. He used to work at another fine dining restaurant where used to get food maybe once a month at the most. It's been 2 years since I've seen him. Upon ordering I asked him for recommendations. He said, "if I remember correctly, you have a gluten allergy..." then gave 2-3 different options. I literally couldn't believe he remembered my allergy as it's been two years since I've seen him. Came here before for dinner about two years ago. I remember the food was really ono (delicious). We came here for Sunday brunch and was not disappointed. We ordered the French Press, Beignets, Salmon Benedict, on special the Lamb Benedict, Lox Toast and there was complimentary cinnamon rolls that came with the meal. This is honestly in the top 2 restaurants I've eaten in all of Spokane. I don't know why I never came here. Well, actually I DO know why - because it's impossible to get in if you try to reserve "day of". I finally made a reservation a week in advance. We were greeted and seated right away. The ambiance is beautiful. Soft gray velvet backed booths, silver decor and lighting, twinkle lights everywhere. It felt like I was actually going "out to eat" to a nice restaurant, which I haven't felt much here in Spokane. The food was cooked completely perfectly. They brought fresh baked bread which my family devoured. It's baked on premises daily. Every dish was cooked to perfection. Butternut squash bisque with lobster meat, scallops, filet mignon, salmon and my daughter got a crispy chicken sandwich she loved. This was probably one of the best dining experiences I have had thus far in Spokane. My friend and I made a reservation for brunch on Sunday May 7th, so celebrate finishing Bloomsday. I had made a reservation online for 11:30. We were running behind due to the traffic from the race, so I called to inform the hostess we would be about 15 minutes late for our reservation. She was very pleasant and said that would not be a problem. When we arrived at 11:45 we were immediately seated in a quiet area of the restaurant. Our waitress came over shortly after we were seated and handed us menus. Everything looked incredible! We were also incredibly hungry after Bloomsday. After about ten minutes our waitress returned and took our drink orders. We both got mimosas and decided to spare a french press coffee. Oh my gosh! They know how to do french press coffee; not only was it delicious buy they bring you a tray of goodies for it! Included is cream, whipped cream, chocolate, cinnamon sticks, and sugar cubes! They presentation was wonderful. The mimosas were equally delicious and very reasonable at $7 a piece. When our waitress returned we ordered: we both got the eggs benedict. Something that I wish more brunch places did is what Luna does: they bring you delectable cinnamon bread and butter complementary while you wait for your food. Oh, and ALL of Luna's breads are made in house. It was perfectly sweet and light. About twenty minutes later our waitress also brought out complementary chocolate beniets for us! What?!? Usually you have to order these! She explained that the kitchen ran out of ham (AHHHH NOOOO), but that the chef ran to the store to get more (YAY) so our food would be longer than usual. So sweet! The beniets were awesome! But we tried not to eat too many because we wanted to save room for the main attraction - the eggs benedict! Oh man, it did not disappoint at all! And they put a ton of ham on it! House made English muffins, awesome ham, perfectly poached eggs, and great hollendaise sauce. The roasted potatoes on the side were splendid as well, and were a great compliment to the eggs benedict, which is probably some of the best I have had in recent memory. Overall this was a great place to refuel after a long run. The staff were great, the food was above and beyond, and the atmosphere was very pleasant. We brought about another couple for dinner and enjoyed a wonderful experience. We dined outdoors in the garden area. The service exemplified a "European" model, allowing time for conversation between courses without any pressure to order. The wine list is quite large and invites repeat visits. The cheese plate was a fine appetizer, well suited to our party of four. Our meals ranged from burger to scallops to a filet of beef. All were wonderfully prepared and presented. The desserts were superb. I enjoyed an Italian pistachio gelato. Yes, the bill was pricey, but you get what you pay for. The perfect location for a special occasion, or just splurging.
