Luna Grill is a pretty good chain restaurant in the area! They are very popular for Mediterranean food for good reason. All the locations I've been to seem to be pretty consistent, and the food tastes fresh and they use pretty decent quality ingredients. Their menu isn't too crazy, they have your more basic Mediterranean staples which I feel is good so that they can concentrate on perfecting those items, instead of some places that have huge menus with a bit of everything which then seems to make each item mediocre. It is also a really good place for vegetarians, which is common with Mediterranean restaurants, but this place also includes a Beyond Burger which is one of the best vegetarian substitutes for a beef patty out there. I see that some of the other reviews mention issues with the staff and orders being wrong, but so far I haven't experienced this, staff has always been friendly to my groups and all of our orders have been correct. There was a new girl at the register my last visit, but she was sweet and the other staff was very encouraging and helpful to her, so they seem like a pretty good bunch. This Poway location is part of a shopping plaza with a large parking lot and I've never had trouble finding parking. Definitely a good choice for fresh healthy-ish food in the area! read more

Always, always a fan of their Mediterranean Salad with chopped chicken and extra feta cheese! But first things first... This location is always bright and clean with friendly service and consistently fresh and tasty food. My good to is that salad...always. I love the mix of couscous, cucumber, onion and mint over a bed of lettuce and their house vinaigrette. I will usually add on extra feta to mine. It is so light and refreshing and my favorite item on the menu. My hubby opts for the Chicken and Sirloin Kabob as his meal of choice. Both items never disappoint. The Feta Chips are always a crowd pleaser if you want something other than fries. The Cornish hen though is also a winner...super juicy and full of flavor. They offer plenty of inside and outside seating for large groups: lovely red décor and the coolest little ceiling lights hover above you. It tends to get pretty busy during lunch so plan accordingly. Best Luna Grill I have been too. Poway Luna hooks it up. The ones in Orange County cut you short. They short you on the feta garlic sauce or harissa hummus or even the pita bread when you order two sides. This Luna was great when we first started visiting more frequently. Chicken was cooked perfectly, moist and flavorful. However, they have become much more inconsistent with take out orders and now serve very charred, dry chicken about every other visit (at least 3 times recently). It's not very pleasant to open your take out and then have to pick through and/or peel away what's burnt to find a few small pieces of chicken remaining that are somewhat edible. Hopefully they can turn this around and be more reliable with quality control before the food goes out. read more

My friend and I ordered the Gyro Meat Plates and fountain drinks. The sliced meat, rice, and pita bread were good; the fries were hot and crispy just as I like them. This place is good and pretty timely. Delicious freshly made food such as grilled chicken or gyro meat. Rice and salads are tasty. My only complaints would be that 1) when I tried to do a substitution the manager indicated that wasn't allowed and it was company policy, and 2) I once heard the cook in a foul mood grumbling in the back and he rudely yelled at the customers in line that it was going to be at least 20 minutes for any grilled meats because they had just opened. I think he was just overwhelmed. Otherwise to go orders are always ready when promised, we usually get it at least once a week! read more

Luna Grill was a favorite spot for me for years. In the past six months my personal experience is that the quality,preparation and appearance of the food has gone down substantially. Today I ordered the salmon plate with a vegetable skewer to go. I found the salmon to be dry and cold, overcooked, asifit had sat around for a bit. The veggie skewer was very tasteless, soggy, way overcooked. Recently salads have been unappealing with roots on the greens, too big to enjoy. There seems to be no love any longer in the preparation. I have to admit that I love me some Luna Grill Flat Chicken Kabob for for $11.50. The tender all white chicken was served with a side of Basmati rice, a small amount of pita bread, a salad with feta cheese that I added for a dollar extra, and some grilled carrots. The chicken was quite savory as advertise, tender, but just a tad dry inside, which did not take from the goodness of the chicken. The chicken had great color brought on by the charring. Also, they did not skimp on the quantity. The rice was nice and fluffy with a bit of yellow brought on by the turmeric. Although I really enjoyed the rice, I wish they would of added more turmeric. The pits sliced were very good but limited. I used what little pieces they did give me to make mini pita sandwiches with the chicken, salad, and yogurt sauce. The salad was fresh and the feta cheese was great. The cucumber, onions, and tomatoes were all fresh and crisp and the salad dressing or house vinaigrette was quite tasty. I say, the more feta cheese the better. That's what I have to say about the feta I added to the salad. Service was great at the ordering counter. The employee had a very good sense of humor and was friendly. I really liked the team leader that was there on my particular visit. Dropped by here after another one of my weightlifting sessions! We were in the mood for Mediterranean so saw this was closer than the one in Scripps Ranch so jumped in the car and drove here. It is in the same parking lot as Target and quite a lot of parking. It was very roomy and had good ambiance. They also had outdoor seating but it's been pretty chilly lately. Grabbed a table after ordering, and time seemed to fly by pretty fast as my dinner mate as he was helping me resolve laptop issues. I discovered my laptop was 5 years old - Ive forgotten how long its been haha. Food came out not too long would say 8-15 minutes? Presentation was colorful. Got your balsamic rice, pita bread, salad, choice of meat/seafood along with choice of having carrots or tomatoes at the side (tomatoes might have been something else). I ordered the Norwegian Salmon and he ordered the Mahi Mahi. The kind girl manning the cashier took our orders (I hate myself for not remembering her name off the top of my head) - and agreed that the choices were pretty good. Mine better than his though, hah! Veggies were fresh. I do agree the Norwegian Salmon was grilled to perfection in my opinion and I thoroughly enjoyed the dish. I feel that the Mahi Mahi seemed to be a smaller portion but might have just been me. There was a lot of rice left over - feel like most places always overdose on rice. They are closed the 26th of November and accept Visa, Mastercard, American Express and Discover. Would come again. Lesbehonest, I came here because I had a coupon for a free item. We got the free appetizer, but we purchased a plate of kabobs and extras. That coupon brought us in the door and Luna Grill got our business. I'm so glad I'm a sucker for discounts/freebies, because we just had some of the best kabobs we've had in a while. We had the chicken and Beef Filet kabobs with basmati rice, a side salad and spicy hummus. Everything was incredibly fresh and flavorful. The meats was juicy and tender, the hummus lightly spicy, served with pita. The gal that took our order was friendly and the guy that cleared our plates was great. I just moved to the neighborhood so I figured I'd check this place out. The service was great. The food took a while to come out, but it was super fresh and super delicious. There was a self serve soda/tea fountain, and they bring your food to your table. I ordered the filet beef kabob and it was great. Multigrain flatbread...A different option. Luna Grill is a great chain with great food. But at this location I tried something new. I ordered our wraps with multigrain flatbread instead of the always reliable pita bread. Was that a mistake? Chicken wrap with multigrain flatbread - I think the chicken works with the wrap format because there was enough flavor there to outweight the blandness of the wrap. I'd rather have real pita bread. Falafel wrap with multigrain flatbread - Didn't care much for their falafel, very dry and crumbly. The bread was dry too so the combination of the two was not very pleasant. . Probably my least favorite item from Luna Grill Summation - Just get the damn real pita bread! Their flatbread tasted like that Matzo cracker stuff. Tip - If you want great falafel go to Crossroads Deli in the UTC area. They only make them on Friday. read more

I have been sleeping on this place! I've always wanted to try it, but I had another Mediterranean restaurant that I favored. But I finally made a visit with my friend on a weekday for dinner. This location is spacious, with indoor and outdoor seating. The service is great. All the staff I've encountered have been really helpful and had a good attitude. I love the variety on the menu because you can get a salad, plate, or wrap. I ordered the *Falafel Wrap (greens, tomato, onion and signature sauces - $9.25) w/ the multigrain lavash (you have the option of pita bread, also). As a side, I've tried both fries and the house salad (greens, tomato, cucumber, red onion, house vinaigrette). The fries are SO good! They're just plain fries but I really don't know what they do. It's perfectly crisp, cut, and addicting. The Falafel Wrap is also such a simple meal but it was delicious! The falafel tasted great and was still warm as I ate it. I ask for the signature sauce on the side. I'm not sure what it is made of and it's not something I was blown away by but it helps make the flavor not so dry. WOW NEVER COMING to this location again!!!!! This was the 3rd and final try. I was kindly given a voucher for a free entree worth 12.25 after receiving an incorrect/messed up order. I was excited to use it. I had not eaten all day and was really stressed out. I suffer from anxiety and it's hard for me to even really go out in public to eat. I am embarrassed to even say that but it is the truth. So I awkwardly get to the counter after the guy in the pink button up shirt gestured for me to order. I just was trying to finish the conversation with my mother about what hummus we were going to be ordering on trio dip. I mentioned I didn't like spicy feta and OH MY GOD THE CASHIER HAD THE AUDACITY TO SAY ITS NOT ALWAYS ALL ABOUT YOU. I couldn't believe what he had just said. I quickly panicked and was about to Start crying so I said cancel my order I can't deal with this. And I left. Unfortunately I no longer wanted my food because I now was so upset and crying in my car. My mom waited and insisted on keeping the food. The man did not apologize AT ALL. He just walked away like he did nothing wrong and the poor girl working with him had to help us. She was so kind my mother said. She packaged our food and even gave us some cookies. Been eating here for years but not so much lately. I always get the chicken skewer, but I thought I would try the new garlic chicken. I took 1 piece of chicken and after taking a bite, threw the rest away. It tasted like you actually ate garlic, it was terrible. My friend tried a piece too, and he didn't like it either. I did end up throwing the rest away, it was so bad. I would have given it less than1 star but the rice and salads are always good.
