Great to see Korean food make it way to the Poway area. Nestled in the industrial section of Poway sits Mama's Bowl tucked in the corner of a strip mall of small restaurant shops. What was known as a Poke Bar, Mama's Bowl exists inside and you have to scan a QR code to reveal the menu. Wanting something hearty and filling I went with the Bulgogi Rice Bowl topped with beef, pickled radish, salad, boiled egg and brown sauce. Beef was well cooked and seasoned with that sweet umami flavor. As a side I also ordered the Kimbap regular made of seaweed with carrot, pickled radish, cucumber, burdock, and egg. Great side dish to go with my meal. Overall great experience and satisfied with my meal. Service was excellent and she did a great job checking up on me and my meal. I can't wait to go back and try other items on their menu.

Thank you Mama's Bowl for satisfying my Korean cravings without having to drive all the way down to Kearny Mesa! The ambiance is casual with both indoor and outdoor seating. You order at the same counter as the poke place. They have a QR code to pull up the menu. For a pop up restaurant, they have almost every Korean entree you typically find at other restaurants. The owner is super sweet and inviting. The food was delicious, authentic, and fresh. It made me think of my own mom's delicious cooking! The portions were very filling...just wish they gave more rice to go with the large bowl of tofu soup :p We left happy and full! I will definitely be back for more!

If you want authentic, homemade Korean comfort food, Mama's Bowl is great! They reside inside a poke restaurant, so it's a "virtual" restaurant. We've ordered from DoorDash twice now and both times the food was delicious! The kimbaps are humongous and packed with veggies/meat. Japchae is so flavorful and loaded with ingredients. Also highly recommend dduk guk (rice cake soup). Don't expect fancy, but DO expect consistently good food made with love.

Go into the Poke store and scan QR for menu and order. I like that there's an option for some std Korean dishes and bento for lunch close to my work. I order the beef noodle soup. It was fine esp on a winter day. Food was average but the location and convenience added to it. service was good. Inside ambiance is like a quick eats place and has room to eat a quick lunch

The food here is excellent! I'm glad there's good Korean food that's closer to me and I don't have to drive all the way to Convoy. Feels like there's not a lot of Korean choices around Poway so I'm really happy. Just fyi, they are in the same place as the poke place but you can still order in person instead of just online. I ordered the beef tofu stew and the vegetable pancake to go. Both were really delicious. The tofu stew had lots of tofu, meat, onions, and veggies and the broth was good. The pancake had lots of veggies and was really yummy. Highly recommended. Located near lots of offices so it seems like their bowls would be really good for take out. Will definitely be trying some of their other stuff in the future.

I was not impressed with their Kimbap. But everything else we ordered was good. Price is pretty reasonable.

It looks like most of the other tables were reserved for reservations. The decor is modern and very clean and chic. They also had a high chair and was accommodating with our baby. Food was incredible and the quality of the fish is evident throughout. We started with the mixed shrimp and vegetable tempura - light crispy batter, really good. The sashimi champaloo came with 12 pieces of sashimi, salmon, tuna, yellowtail, and the fish of the day was albacore. For rolls, we got the Luna Lemon, Maru's Sushi Toro, and Hamachi Hiro. The rolls were a good size and I loved how each had a fun twist (but at the same time not TOO crazy with their combinations like some other sushi places). You can tell it was designed with intention and each roll had a nice balance. The Luna Lemon roll was great with spicy tuna inside, salmon outside, and the soy dressing and shallot oil put it over the top. The Maru's Sushi - Toro roll looked so good in the photos so I knew we had to order it. The negitoro was delicious and did not disappoint. The Hamachi Hiro roll was hearty and loved the combination of yellowtail outside the shrimp tempura in the inside. We were blown away by how fast the service is. The staff was friendly and on top of everything, and the food came out REALLY fast. For example, when we ordered an extra roll at the end, it came out in maybe 3 minutes and we were shocked. Highly recommend!

Every piece was delicious! -Chirashi bowl ($30.95): I really enjoyed the sushi rice in this bowl since not every restaurant does quality sushi rice. The sashimi was pretty good, but quality wise the sashimi champloo was definitely superior. -Salmon mango roll ($9.50): This had spicy salmon, mango, and ume furikake. This was quite tasty, and definitely had a kick to it. -Maru Maru roll ($9.50): This had imitation crab meat, shrimp tempura, and avocado. A basic roll but still good. -Chicken katsu curry don ($16.95): This was disappointing because the portion was quite small for the price. I do like how the curry was packaged separately. All in all, Hakumaru has quality sashimi and rolls, but could work on portion size for chicken katsu curry don.

A small anecdote: I once believed I'd lost my ring here and returned as the staff was closing. While I wasn't able to search the restaurant myself, the closing staff looked for me for about ten minutes and offered to take my number in case it was found later. It was very kind of them and definately made me feel positively about the place.

One of my favorite things about this place is how easy it is. You order on the kiosk, grab a seat, and your food usually comes out within like 10-15 minutes. The inside has a lot of seating and even games like Jenga which makes it feel like a fun spot to hang out for lunch. I didn't interact much with service since I used the kiosk, but the worker upfront was really friendly and even brought my takeout to my table. This time I tried the Dynamite Crawfish Bowl and the Dynamite Fries. The bowl comes with crawfish, rice, dynamite sauce, eel sauce, seaweed, sesame seeds, and pickled radish on top. The fries normally come with sweet potato fries but I swapped mine for regular fries because I just wasn't feeling sweet potato that day. The fries were honestly kind of underwhelming. It was basically fries with dynamite sauce and only a few pieces of garlic confit, which was the part I was most excited for. They weren't bad, just really underwhelming. I honestly think the sweet potato fries probably would've worked better with the flavors. The crawfish bowl though was really good. The crawfish had this slight smoky flavor to it like it was lightly torched and they give you a lot in each bite. The rice was fluffy and cooked perfectly and the pickled radish on top helped cut through all the richness from the sauces. Everything worked really well together flavor wise. My only complaint is that halfway through the bowl the flavors started blending together a little too much and it gets boring, but overall it was still super satisfying and filling. Definitely still one of my favorite quick lunch spots in Carmel Mountain and somewhere I'd bring friends because the menu has so many good options. Their dessert menu also sounds insane so I already know I'll be back.
