Little wine to start the weekend.
    Branson U.

If you are a wine lover, wine enthusiast or wine connoisseur you MUST make Lumiere Winery a stop on your Temecula Valley wine trip. The wine is Phenomenal, but make sure that you really appreciate wine as these wines here are not to be trifled with. They are full body and Bordeaux style. There are a couple whites that are very good for those in your party that cannot handle Red Wine. The scenery is so serene and tranquil. You are up on top of a hill looking over the vineyards. It is so quiet and peaceful that you are truly enjoying the wine. You are able to bring outside food and snacks with you to enjoy on the patio. The pricing of the flights is unbeatable for Temecula and honestly better than any winery or tasting room my wife and I have been to in California. The bottle prices are truly fair as well. If you know the wine you know that the pricing is best in the valley for the quality of wine you are drinking. The owner is there pouring the wine and talking with you. Telling the stories of the bottle, how it got its name, how it was bottle and pressed and harvested. This is truly a wine lovers hideout!

We were so happy to find Lumiere Winery. Martha and her late husband bought the property in 1987 and it's become a true family business with their son as the winemaker! We loved hearing about the growth of the winery over the years. She was so sweet and welcoming. The property has gorgeous, panoramic views; there lots of seating whether you're wanting to soak up the sun or sit under the shaded patio. We loved the tasting - great wine. Highly recommend stopping by if you're just the area!

I had a lovely visit as part of a group wine tasting with 10 women on a recent Friday afternoon. Lumiere is a small boutique family-owned and managed winery located at the top of a hill on Calle Contento off Rancho California Road. All their wines are estate grown. The original vines, all Sauvignon Blanc, were planted in 1980 on the 21 acre vineyard. The current owners, the Kleiner family, purchased the property in 1987 and started growing grapes which they originally sold to local wineries. Their focus is on Bordeaux wines. They kept 6 acres of the original Sauv Blanc vines and added vines of the 5 "Noble Grapes of Bordeaux" - Merlot, Cab Sauv, Petit Verdot, Malbec and Cab Franc. Construction of the winery started in 2006, tasting room offerings began in late 2010 and the official opening was in 2014. Andrew Kleiner is the winemaker and his mother, Martha serves up wine, as well as fascinating stories about Temecula Valley wine history. She is charming, kind and very knowledgeable. She welcomes visitors to Lumiere and makes you feel right at home. Her love of the wine and all the history surrounding this special place shines through - Lumiere is so fortunate to have her there! We had such a wonderful time tasting and learning. Lumiere has a small indoor tasting room and although it was a warm day, there was a delightful breeze coming through and we were perfectly comfortable sitting outside on the covered patio. Tastings are very reasonably priced, with options for premium ($15 for 6 tastes) or reserve ($25 for 5 tastes), as well as $10 for 3 tastes of all premium red or all white. Add $5 and you go home with a logo wine glass! I opted for the reserve tasting and especially enjoyed the 2012 Cab Franc. Martha was gracious enough to also give us tastes of their two Sauv Blancs - 2006 late harvest and 2013 Fashionably Late. The late harvest SB was a bit sweet for my taste with 4.5% residual sugar, but I loved the Fashionably Late - both the name and the wine! They're open Thursday-Monday 11am-6pm, are kid and pet-friendly, and invite you to bring outside food in to enjoy with your wine. This is a special little winery that might otherwise get overlooked as you make plans to go wine tasting in Temecula. But I'd encourage anyone visiting (or living in the area as I do!) to pack a little picnic basket with some cheese/crackers, nuts and dark chocolate and head out to Lumiere!

Had visited this amazing winery on a Sunday afternoon. It was very quiet, but actually nice. Had the whole winery to myself. Martha the owner was so sweet! Her company kept me occupied throughout my tastings. We had a great time sitting and chatting while she tells me about her winery. The wines were all delivered with exquisite tastes. There's no kitchen at this property, so you can bring your own food. Great view from the top overlooking the vineyards and other wineries. Good spot to bring your kids as well. Truly a hidden gem. Glad I found this through Yelp!

I love a smaller winery. Beautiful stone archways with the long driveway up the mountain. This was one of the original wineries in Temecula Planted in 1980. Originally the family used to work the Winery with the kids, but turned it over to management when the kids went off to school . After the son finished with a degree in accounting He returned home to see the growth and development. Having a business background, and working in the winery as a young boy . He decided to let go of management, and take over But not before returning to to UC Davis to study viticulture and enology. After that, he refurbished the winery. To the glory it is today. A beautiful rustic, smaller winery with delicious wine. I had a wonderful time, talking to the owner. She has all The charm in the world.#5StarWineryExperience

I'm not sure how we came across this tiny winery when we were looking for a spot to check out on our drive home to San Diego from Palm Springs but the name immediately made my Disney loving brain think about Beauty and the Beast and I was hooked. We arrived less than an hour before closing but the host was happy to accommodate us with a wine tasting, whites for me and reds for my boyfriend. We enjoyed sitting outside on the warm fall night and admiring the peaceful view of the vineyards.

The family-owned nature of this winery is a real winner in this area. The view from the small tasting patio overlooks a couple of neighboring wineries and the rolling hills of the valley. We were greeted promptly and genuinely upon arrival. The wines leaned on the sweet side which isn't my thing personally, but when we go to the later reds, they were good. So much so that I bought a couple of bottles.

    Christina W.

What a nice little winery! It's great to socialize with the owner herself as she describes each one for the tasting. Speaking of tasting, premium tasting consists of six wines, three reds and three whites for $15. There is a variety of other tasting packages available to suit your taste. Very reasonable prices. The winery offers pretty nice views, not the best that I've seen in Temecula valley, but very impressive regardless. The winery is very peaceful and quiet, so if you want to avoid the crowds, come here. Outdoor seating is open as of January 30th, 2021.

Family owned winery that goes above and beyond, with their wine as well as their guests. Martha, the owner, was so friendly and made our time so fantastic. The wine tasting was incredible - I got the premium and my husband had the library tasting. We walked away with three bottles of wine to enjoy later. We will certainly go back again. This is a boutique winery, which are some of the best in Temecula. Don't be swayed by the small sitting area- the wine will blow you away. The wine here is especially better, just on another level compared to the huge wineries that are better known on Yelp. They have wines from as long ago as 2006, available for tasting! Not something you typically find on a tasting menu. Come for the wine, and enjoy a nice view of the vineyards in the shaded overlook.

Best freaking winery out there! Classy environment, best rep Martha very caring and knowledgeable in this wine craft! Very proud of the business. Red reserve wine is AMAZING!!! Try this winery on your tour!! Great ambiance!

The wine tasting menu is very reasonably priced and Martha the host is a gem. My favorite was the White/Red but you'll find your own favorite. Dog friendly too!

We went to this winery because I prefer smaller, family owned wineries with less people. The sommelier who is the owners mom is incredible. She is so kind and makes you feel like at home. I've been to about 30 wineries in Temecula and she is one of my favorite sommelier's ever. For wine I had their white red and it was a very nice balance between not too sweet and sweet. We will visit again to try their white Merlot which this time was sold out. Overall a great experience.

Amazing experience at Lumiere! The best wine in the most relaxed atmosphere in Temecula Wine Country. Highly recommend!

I decided to do a wine tasting for my birthday with 2 other guests and drove from LA to Temecula on a Sunday. Arriving to the estate was easy, there's plenty of free parking spots surrounding the winery. It's quite an uphill stroll and some stairs are involved, but you definitely get a workout in. They have a covered patio area of tables that are either reserved or you put your name down to get a table on the left side of the winery, the middle/terrace area is usually used for private parties/events such as a bridal shower or birthday party, where there are 2 outside bars and sometimes they offer live music, the back area of the estate has a grassy area with small vendors selling jewelry and such with picnic style tables (no shade or cover), a gazebo of seating facing in my opinion, the best part of the view, and a separate location for wine club members. The inside is where you do the actual wine tasting experience, and has high bar stool tables and chairs for seating as well. Stepping up to the hostess desk, a man who worked there greeted us and very quickly told us what they offer and then walked away (had nothing to do with the check in desk area, so it was a little confusing). The hostesses had the same spiel to give, and I had mentioned it was our first time and we had absolutely no idea how to even begin a wine tasting experience. The explanations were rushed and basically told us to figure it out. We walked away towards the inside/outside terrace of the winery and were stuck walking around for 5 minutes not knowing where to go. We stopped by one of the outside bars and asked for help, the bartender told us we could start our wine tasting experience inside. Now was that so hard to help us navigate where we're supposed to go and what we're supposed to do? Not everything should be explained on a script, most of the time hospitality and customer service goes a longer distance than formalities. We finally get inside and the women working the front for the tastings were really impersonal and standoffish. We finally start getting a tasting experience going, asked for recommendations and none were received or explained so we just picked random options and had them pour. Throughout the 6 tastings we had, each pour was a different amount, if the bottle they were using was running low, they would pour the last bits of it (barely 2 sips), and hand it over, vs a bottle that was more than full, would get a nice even tasting pour. We eventually wanted to order food, and before we even started the tasting, we asked for a table and the hostess told us it would be over an hour wait. We put our names down, they called us in the middle of our 2/6 tasting, which was less than 20 min. So we went to our table and kept having to go back inside one by one to taste our different wines, as we were at a table now and not just doing the tasting experience inside. Food was great, service at the table was also great. Afterwards we left our table and walked towards the gazebo area and sat down by the view. The most enjoyable part of our day just taking in the atmosphere. On our way out, we wanted to experience a different viewpoint which was the bar area with the stools next to the tables of the "reserved/name down" area. I very nicely asked the hostess if we could sit in the empty seats for just a second to finish our last tasting and take in the view, she told us no those are reserved areas and not just open for anyone to sit at as they please. "Sorryyyy those are reserved spaces" with a smile that was clearly not genuine. We understood, dropped our wine glasses off at the bar, and proceeded to our next destination. All in all, the service here was not great. The entire experience felt absolutely rushed, it was not focused on the wine tasting experience at all, they are more focused on selling tables and getting you to order food. There was no explanations on a quick backstory of the wines we were interested in trying, it was just like "which one do you want" "*point*" poured it, and just told us to enjoy. I didn't enjoy my time here at all, and I won't be back to visit, as there are many many other lowkey wineries that are not as highly reviewed or popular as this one, and they are a much better experience.
