We have been to the Lumberyard Café several times and have had a good meal each time. Quick service and good prices.

We pulled in here on a whim for a late lunch . We all three ordered the half order chicken fried steak. Glad we didn't get the full order, it was huge, and tender, and delicious. It came with two sides and a huge roll. I had fries and fried squash. The wife had asparagus and squash, grand daughter had mashed potatoes and green beans. Everything was delicious and the service was excellent. Will definitely go back when in the area. read more

Every review is 5 stars? That's fishy or so I thought... turns out this is a 5 star worthy restaurant. If you are looking for country grub this is the real deal. Fresh rolls, fresh mashed potatoes, fresh Mac n cheese, canned green beans (which is what I expect at places like this), fresh CFS, and even fresh fried squash. And they have other stuff too that isn't as horrible for you but it was my first time and who wants to eat healthy on a day trip. read more

Coming to Edgewood to go the vegetable stand, my mother, aunt and I were in the lookout for someplace to eat lunch. I came to Yelp to search for such a place. The other reviewers did not steer us wrong. My aunt had the chop steak with onions, mashed potatoes and salad. My mother had the avocado ranch chicken salad, while I had the grilled chicken with green beans and salad. The salad was cold and crisp. My aunt and I were very happy with it. My aunt loved her steak and potatoes. My chicken needed a little more seasoning, and the green beans were mushy. I think I would have the pinto beans next time. My mom cleared her salad bowl. We were unsure what we would find when we stopped. It was very good overall, and we will make sure to stop again when we come back to Edgewood. Also, for weekend travelers, go through downtown Edgewood. It is adorable. read more

I had the Top Sirloin, potato, and dinner salad. The salad was a bit limp and nothing special. The potato was large and well prepared. The steak was correctly cooked, but the cut was not tops. It was grissily throughout. Service was very good and sweat tea was fresh. Don't order the sirloin. read more

The ribeye was mediocre tasty but just OK, we had the mac and cheese, very very good, the deep fried squash very very very good. One of the kids had the chicken basket, very very good and the other had avacado chicken salad, very very good too. Keeping them from the five star was the mediocre steak. Been here a few times over the years. Is always really good and the staff is always friendly. It's really good for groups and especially large ones. Stays open pretty late as well compared to the area it's in. Always make sure to stop by if I'm in the area. read more

A nice wholesome place that many people come after church. The food is great with the rustic decor it is a place you can really have a good time in. With the gorgeous paintings you can buy after eating you can bring home a memory, along with the art you eat and look at art. All in all o say it's a great place to eat. read more

Was in the area on a camping trip and we ate lunch here one day when passing through. We stopped here because all the reviews online were good. There was 8 of us in our group and everyone enjoyed their food. We had a variety of things - steak, CFC, Cajun pasta, burgers, grilled shrimp. Food was great and the service was very good too. Too bad I'll probably never pass through this area again because I'd love to try their breakfast. read more

This is my favorite sit down and relax restaurant. If you want a good, hearty lunch or dinner, this is the place to go. Their taco salad is delicious. The workers are super friendly and some have memorized what we normally eat and will stop and chat if you start a conversation with them. I've never had a wrong order and their burgers are great. It's a nice atmosphere and the paintings on the walls are nice to look at. If you're looking for a nice place to take your family for dinner, go here. read more

I have never had a bad meal or experience here. Service is really good as is the food quality. Sundays are really busy, especially when the area churches are getting out. Gets really crowded. The staff works hard to seat everybody ASAP, including large groups. Can't complain about the costs too. Really good for what you get. The fried onion rings are tops!! This is small town dining at it's best. Good food, good prices and friendly service. Everything I've had here has been very good - chicken fried steak, catfish, grilled chicken salad, cheese burger, fries, onion rings and desserts. The onion rings are big and hand-battered - great for sharing. There is always a good selection of desserts, including an assortment of fried pies, cakes and traditional pies that vary each day. Right on HWY 80. If you don't live in or around Edgewood, it's worth some extra miles to get here. read more

I'm always sceptical when ordering any kind of salad, it seems like there's five parts lettuce and one part toppings. That being said, I was pleasantly surprised when I ordered the chef salad and there weren't just little pieces of meat and some cheese, there were big cubes of meat and lots of cheese, so much intact I was barely able to finish it! Not to mention the kids food! When I ordered chicken strips for my daughter I was expecting something similar to what Dairy Queen would have like some restaurants do... nope! Yesterday, Sun, we were headed to drop our daughter off at camp, and were looking for something good to eat. We found Lumber Yard Cafe on our phones, and thought we'd give it a shot, but figured it would be a run of the mill southern comfort food place. First when we were walking up I noticed that the business hours on Sun were only until 2pm, it was 1:55, so I figured that we'd be turned away. To my surprise they graciously seated us. Second, I looked at the menu, and was surprised again to not see a menu full of southern comfort foods, and when I talked to the owner she said that her and her husband are foodies. I ate a spinach and shrimp salad with a bacon vinaigrette, and added grilled asparagus. My wife had a plate of grilled chicken a 2 veggies, one of them also being the grilled asparagus. My daughter got the orange chicken bowl with grilled chicken, most places it would be fried. So outside of the staff being very friendly, the food was delicious, and not overly priced. Although I'm not sure when I'll be out that way again, but when I do we will be stopping. read more

For a small town eatery, this place is about as good as it gets. I have eaten there several times when I was in town, and every time the food has been excellent. The presentation and quality of the food reminds me of Chili's or Appleby's. I know they are not 5 star restaurants, but for a small town, this is pretty high end.
