We don't usually eat breakfast out because we have egg producing chickens at home and rustle up some goodness there. But, every now and then you crave something that you don't have at home. We've been eyeing this cute place since we moved here two years ago and today was the day to go try it! It's a seat yourself place -a good selection of vinyl red and white checked covered tables. The menu is big. They do breakfast and lunch only. Lunch starts at 11, so we did the breakfast. There was much to choose from, most have a cute name like 'the wagon wheel' which I had and the man had three eggs, bacon , sausage and toast. The food didn't come fast like the fast food places do, but it gave us a chance to talk and check out the place. We noticed straight away that it was clean and the two servers working the floor were always busy cleaning, taking orders , sweeping, or refilling drink orders. When the food came I was shocked at the abundance of yumminess on my plate. There were two biscuits cut in half smothered in a white peppery gravy... nestled in the middle of the 'wheel' was a fair amount of scrambled eggs, cheese and sausage. Y'all we eat mostly keto/carnivore so this was a good journey away from that and to be honest there was just too much to finish! He liked his food too.... And the coffee was good! Another side note, a former co-worker of mine from four years ago when we lived hours away was there! How in the world? He's looking to move out here.... And, then, upon leaving we saw our neighbors!! It's a hopping spot on a Saturday morning. The atmosphere is cozy and homey and warm in the best ways possible. We'll be back. If it's going to take an hour to get your food, they should tell you that up front. Very unorganized cooks. People arrived after us and received their food first. When I told the server that my hashbrowns were rubbery, she said it's not usually this busy. I said with them being this busy, everything should be very fresh, she got defensive and said we never get any complaints. I watched the cook microwave several plates of food before sending it out. A good cook in a restaurant shouldn't need a microwave. I do have to say that the biscuits were very good and the chicken fried steak was good. My son and I came in for late breakfast, the haystack I ordered was delicious and his chocolate chip pancakes smelt like birthday cake- he commented how good it was! The restaurant is closed on Mondays, and close at 2:00 every other day. The building isn't very clean, probably due to the waitress using a dirty towel to knock the previous eater's scraps off the table and onto the floor. The tables are pretty crammed in on one side and the other side has two bathroom doors opening right into the eating space, two feet away. The food was pretty good, but I wouldn't order dessert in the hotter months. They pre-slice every slice of cake and pie, leaving them on the open counter for easy access. Unfortunately, no one is on fly duty and it looks like DFW International at Thanksgiving for the little critters who have the easiest access. One waitress was jovial and efficient. Not ours. Our waitress seemed pissed off that we chose the restaurant for breakfast and that we wanted coffee, which she did not provide until ten minutes later and taking orders from two tables who came in after us. Once she delivered our food, we never saw her again until we were at the register. Never saw her smile or thank anyone. My friend said I should tell the manager, and I told my friend that the waitress probably WAS the manager. Anyway, the food is good for the price, no paved parking, and hit and miss with a non-suicidal waitress. read more

Worst Breakfast in Lake Fork area. Eggs were ordered over medium. They were cooked to the texture of hard-boiled eggs. Hash browns were ordered crisp. They were limp and undercooked. Water was served in shot-size glass with no refills. Coffee was served in demitasse-sized cup with slow refills. All-in-all, a bad experience. I will not be going back to Country Kitchen, nor do I recommend it to anyone else. read more

Food was great, service was good. There were three of us and two "parts" of the food came out early and then the rest of their food came out later as did mine. I cannot stand when I am out to eat with my family and the food doesn't come up all at one time Other than that it was food. I even asked did you ring it all up!! Our first time here but it will not be the last. I had The Rancher - 3 eggs, hash-browns, 2 each sausage, bacon and pancakes. First the pancakes were about 5 inches across, perfect size for the size of the meal. Bacon crisp and tasty. Sausage was spicy but not too spicy. Eggs cooked perfectly. Hash-Browns were a tiny bit soggy. Other than that the breakfast was delicious and the coffee hot!! Ronda had the Blueberry Pancakes. It came with 3 pieces of bacon. When they brought her food out, the pancakes (2) were overflowing her plate and loaded with blueberries. She loves blueberry pancakes but could only make it through half of them. The traditional American breakfast options (biscuits & gravy, pancakes, eggs, etc) were all good and a couple of more interesting options like the wagon wheel (biscuits & gravy topped with sausage, eggs and cheese) and the fully loaded omelet (onions, peppers, mushrooms, jalapeños, cheese and bacon) were good also. This is a rare find!! True country cooking all the way. We had the Wrangler and Wagon Wheel.....home fries were delish!! They have a wall with coffee mugs for those regulars and also served in the military. It was a nice, down to earth touch. I love it! This will be another breakfast place for us to choose from!! Recently moved here and I've tried all the local places- I regularly come here because the food is the best in this small town - I love the breakfasts the most and usually order bacon egg n cheese biscuits they pour on the bacon and the biscuits are handmade and fresh! Third time to visit this place and the wait time was excessive. After waiting over 30 minutes for our food we were told they were out of biscuits which came on their wagon wheel. After a 30 minute wait, you would think that they would have prepared more. But instead, while they were getting ready to serve the rest of us our meals, they waited til the last minute to let us know they were out of biscuits. Needless to say, we weren't going to wait another 30 minutes for them to make a replacement meal. read more

there are a limited number of places to eat in a town so small it has less than 2000 residents. this is the only one that doesn't salt, which is a BIG plus since the other establishments are very, very liberal with the salt shaker. as a consequence, it doesn't run up my blood pressure to eat at country kitchen and the food is delicious as well. great food. good service. very reasonable pricing. ambiance is vintage diner (as in it's all about the food, not decor) and that works in its favor as well. simple, home-style comfort food in good-sized portions without being ridiculously large. this is the type of place where the waitresses call you hon' and the cook(s) have on hairnets. where the pie and cake was made fresh that day and the other diners are likely to say howdy as you are seated near them. country kitchen is a definite throw back to a bygone era where service and excellence were inherent in the dining dynamic. read more
