Yesterday we had the worst meal we have ever had in a restaurant. In the past we had been reasonably pleased with the food, though it was never real quality, just huge amounts. It is hard to know where to begin to explain why our experience was so awful. First of all, we wanted beef stroganoff as displayed on the flyer at our table. We were told that they didn't have any because they were having trouble getting cream of mushroom soup. Seriously, they couldn't make beef stroganoff without canned cream of mushroom soup (which I can easily do at home) unbelievable, makes me wonder how much actual cooking they do or are most items pre-made. Next, I ordered a baked potato that was barely warm with a wad of cheese in the center that was like a ball of glue that I had trouble cutting through with a knife. The coleslaw looked odd and tasted worse, neither one of us could eat it, it actually 'looked old and spoiled.' Then our wait person was pushing the sale of two-week-old pumpkin pies left over from Thanksgiving. Seriously, two weeks old! We were shocked at the overall lack of quality of the food served and then with a cost of $60.00 for two of us without dessert it was a huge rip off and left us feeling disgusted in more ways than one. Lumberjack was never a first choice, but it was passable, now it seems prices are up, and quality is down. As of now we have decided never to go there again and removed them from our list of acceptable restaurants in Redding. read more

I had a BLT on sourdough. It came on time as a pick up. By the time I got home, the toasted sourdough was soggy. I ordered coleslaw as the side and there was no sauce (Mayo/vinegar etc) It was just a small cup of cabbage. Ordering online was easy, pickup was easy. OMG, whatever you do don't order the Chili Mac & Cheese unless you like it bathed in canned nacho cheese sauce with about a half cup of chili on top. Been sick to my stomach for two days and I should not have given the leftovers to my dog, he has been puking and hardly eating for two days too! We were traveling from Idaho to home in No California. We wanted a sit down meal. We chanced it and stopped here at Lumber Jacks. Our first choice was out of food with doors locked at 5:30p!! They were scheduled to be open until 8:30p!!! I'm really glad they were closed!!! Lumber Jacks was open!! We were warmly greeted and sat down immediately! Drink orders taken and delivered quickly and our order was taken! They offered a Turkey meal with all the fixins, a ham meal, and a 16oz prime rib meal!!! Perfection!!! Exactly what we were wanting. The veggie (beef?) soup was delicious, lots of flavor layers! There's a huge chocolate cake with tons of layers, I wonder how it tastes!? This is the place if you are looking for good food for a great price! We were hungry & wanted to find a restaurant nearby. Glad Lumberjacks happened to be the closest one on our way. The service was excellent, pleasant servers. Loved the interior decor. We ordered the Cobb salad & Jack's melt sandwich. Both of which were well prepared with fresh ingredients. My family loves this place. You get your money's worth and then some. It's family/kid friendly. The staff is always amazing. Especially, Yendi she super attentive and great with kids. Always thinks of thinks we forget like extra napkins. Tonight was extra amazing. We ordered the giant axe burger. This thing was massive and delicious. Its on a homemade bun that's to die for. We were looking for lunch on a Saturday and got off the exit and saw this place. There was no wait and were seated right away. Place is super cute inside. It's like a little cabin even inside. They had plastic glass at every booth and sat everyone separated so it made me feel really safe. Our server was fast and helpful. I ordered a salad it was huge. My husband ordered breakfast. 9/28 Service was amazing (Christine). She was efficient, friendly and knows what she's doing. The food was served in big portions (even though it was the "lighter side"), so you get your money's worth. It was also well prepared and was better than the average breakfast place. There was plenty of seating (it was busy), but they turned the tables quickly. There was plenty of parking in the area but there was also a few homeless people in the area panhandling. We saw this place heading home from Oregon and we stayed nearby. I'm a sucker for woodsy looking restaurants and I was not disappointed! Their decor was rustic looking and their breakfast specials on the board walking in had nice prices, however when I opened the menu the prices we much higher for their non specials. I now know why they were a bit higher than other restaurants, their food is AWESOME! I had chicken fried steak, it was about the best I ever had! Their country potatoes were well seasoned and eggs perfectly cooked. I decided on English muffins and never had them made this way, they were special! My wife had French toast, which was excellent and had two huge breakfast sausages, I ate one and they were mild and I could have eaten 50 of them! This was probably one of the best breakfast meals I have ever had! They need to open a thousand more stores!!!!! read more

Decent food and a decent franchise type place, but man are they bad at takeout. No silverware to eat soup and a breakfast scramble? Cool, great takeout ideas. At least I asked for napkins so I got some of those since she didn't feel like packing that either. I'm lucky I had spare silverware in my car, and yet takeout wants tips! When we were in Willits, we ate several times at the Lumberjack restaurant there, so we knew what to expect. So when we were staying overnight in Redding and noticed a Lumberjack restaurant there, we figured we could count on a similar experience. We were right. We were there for dinner and breakfast the following morning. Both times the server was Jimmy, and both times he did an excellent job! The food was good, but Jimmy was on top of things to make sure that everything went well and we had no needs. So, not only can we count on Lumberjack in other locations in the future, but if we are in Redding we know where we will be eating read more

I was looking for a good place to load up on some breakfast before heading out to Turtle Bay and this place popped up on my Yelpdar. The reviews where a bit shaky, but I liked the name and the promise of big portions at cheap prices. Plus, I'm not afraid to try out places with mediocre reviews. After all, you never know when you'll find a hidden gem. So I loaded up the family and headed over. We like to order a nice smattering of items to really get a feel for a place. We ordered Coffee,Chicken-Fried Steak (CFS) & Eggs, Griddle Sampler and a side of Bacon. Here is the breakdown: Coffee- The coffee came in a huge cup which was nice, because I didn't need a refill the entire time. Unfortunately, part of the reason I didn't need a refill was not just the size of the cup but because it was below-standard diner coffee. It lacked body and boldness. 2.5* Chicken-Fried Steak & Eggs- The CFS breakfast came with scrambled eggs, "loaded" country potatoes and a buttermilk biscuit. The CFS was super salty and pretty generic tasting.; the eggs were crunchy and over-cooked; the country potatoes were flavorless and under-cooked; and the buttermilk biscuit was actually pretty good. 1.5* Griddle Sampler- This came with over-medium eggs, French Toast, Flap Jacks (aka Pancakes), Banana-Nut French Toast and Bacon. The eggs were cooked OK; Flap Jacks tasted like your average out-of-the-box mix; French Toast had a nice Cinnamon flavor; Banana-Nut French Toast were OK; and the bacon was very good. 3* Side of Bacon- They serve Applewood smoked Bacon here at Lumberjacks and I think that might be my favorite type. As I stated earlier these were quite good and they got my toddler's seal of approval (he's quite the bacon connoisseur!) I would've prefered they be cut a little thicker, but that's a minor quibble. 4* Unfortunately, all the food was pretty mediocre to awful which is not conducive to a second visit here and thus the 2-star rating. Which is a shame, because they're very generous with their portions and sides; the service was great; and the prices were fantastic! But, in the end it's all about the food. read more

Ordered 4 Christmas Special meals to take to family celebration. 1 Turkey dinner, 1 ham, and 2 Prime Rib. Have had good meals here in past many times but never take out. The food was packaged well but there was no salad dressing at all & 6 cranberry sauce cups. Also it was supposed to come with 4 slices of pumpkin pie but it came with 3 pumpkin and 1 apple. Maybe they ran out? But no one said anything. Fortunately I like apple pie. The huge disappointment was the $40 each Prime Rib dinners. We ordered both medium. One was rare which fortunately was acceptable to the one eating it. The other was very overcooked and really tough. I struggled to cut it and found it impossible to chew so ended up throwing it away. I really feel overcharged and disappointed in the holiday meal this year. Not sure I would trust this place again. I tried to contact by phone or email rather than leave review but no one answered and no email is available. I don't often leave a negative review but when you're the one bringing the dinner to a holiday celebration you want it to be nice. read more
