He was very talkative and informative, and he went above and beyond in his inspection and communicating what he saw and what possible solutions might be. The problem is that the townhouse my wife and I own does not retain heat very well. As a result, the heater is on all the time during the winter (even at a low temperature setting). To save on electricity, we wanted to see about getting some new insulation. The owner was very honest with us and said that to replace the old insulation would involve a lot of time and money for a hugely invasive process that might not be worth it in the end. He provided with tons of free information and advice to help make the right decision for us and consider alternative options that didn't involve working with his company. We ended up not using his services, but this company comes strongly recommended for their great customer service and the amount of value we got out of their free consultation!

Right off the bat that's great to see, but the actual winner winner chicken dinner of the situation was that DES said they would be able to insulate our addition through our main attic space, that no cutting from the outside would be needed. The first estimate? HAD to cut through from the outsides because "there was just no getting it done from the main attic space." That little piece alone showed that DES takes the time and effort during their estimates to make sure they are doing the best job for the situation. Kevin came back out for the beginning of the job itself and was incredibly kind and pleasant while his team got started. He supervised for about an hour then let us know he had to get going, but that we could always call if we needed to speak with him directly instead of his team. During the job his team (made up of two men) were easy to speak with and had extensive knowledge regarding the two questions I had throughout the day. I basically forced them to take up my offer for food and drinks, but I think they mostly drank the waters I kept bringing them out of kindness. All in all I would recommend DES to anyone who is looking for good customer service and quality work from people who really know what they're doing/talking about.

Now that they've completed the job at my house, allow me to provide yet another glowing review. Chris and I connected not long after my request for a quote and he came by my house in the next day or so. After spending a little time in the attic, he came down to give a thorough breakdown of what was in the attic and a couple of different paths I could take (e.g. removing all the existing insulation before blowing in the new product; leaving the existing insulation and simply blowing the new stuff over the top of it). He answered every question I asked and had a formal estimate (which included detailed photos of what he saw up in the attic) to me the next day. Chris promised that the team coming to do the install would be top-of-the-line -- and he was right. Dave led the crew, who were very respectful of my house and used floor coverings and booties throughout the installation. They removed all the old insulation and got the new stuff in place in about 3 hours. Dave had me inspect the work before departing and was also happy to answer a couple of follow-up questions I had. I went with Comfenergy due to their professionalism and expertise. From the energy audit and consultation (Matt), to the removal and re-installation of attic insulation, crawlspace encapsulation and dehumidifier installation (Dylan & crew), things have performed as expected over a year later. No more humidity, no more overworked HVAC, and no more mud pit under the house. I am writing this review because I had an issue with the dehumidifier that was installed (throwing an error code). I called on a Monday before a holiday and explained the situation. Comfenergy had someone (Ariel) out by Friday to diagnose. He fixed the issue, offered amazing advice, answered all of my questions, and even performed an inspection of their previous work (going as far to spot repair a few places that had weakened due to settling). This kind of customer service, over one year after performing their work, made me feel a whole lot better over such a major investment and project for my home. I believe this is one of those instances where "you get what you pay for," and Comfenergy certainly exceeded my expectations.

Justin called me back on the day when I put in a service request via their website. While I had to wait a bit that day to get a response (this is not a big firm with lots of sales agents and so forth), I spoke with Justin (an exterminator) himself. I didn't have to waste my time speaking to some sales agent. Just asked me to send some pictures of the bees. He immediately told me they were not carpenter bees, which do not sting, but hornets which do! He came the next day to take a look around and recommended taping up the hole in the drywall. This solved the immediate problem of hundreds of bees getting into the attic. Despite Monday being a holiday, he said he was available. He came with his associate, Phillip, who does the drywall repair. Overall, a very professional and positive experience. I am very happy that these @&$!ing hornets are dead.

This company will charge you a high price for anything that is not pest management, and they will have someone else do the work with a very poor quality of materials and craftmanship. Awful customer service and even worse accountability of their work. By the way, Justin's response below is absolutely false. My advice is that you look elsewhere for real professionals that are accountable for their work.

I would give them five stars for their prompt communication setting up the initial appointment, for providing a competitive quote and then answering all my questions about the insulation product they were going to use. I felt my concerns were heard and responded to respectfully, especially by the owner Brian. The crew that did the removal and installation were also punctual, friendly and took good care of my property. Despite working long hours in 100 plus degree conditions. The only reason I dropped a star was because after the dust settled and we were able to access the attic we noted a few things that bothered us. Most of these issues could have been easily addressed if the installation crew had been more communicative with us throughout the process. Instead we had to deal with these issues afterwards which was rather frustrating and took several weeks to resolve and required us to call in other contractors. I would still recommend this company for all the things that they did well. But more and better communication from the work crew would have made this an overall five star experience.

Brian's a great guy--knowledgeable, honest, responsive, and easy to work with. He clearly explained what was needed, what was optional, and why. He showed exactly where the insulation and air-sealing problems were, giving me complete confidence in his recommendations. There was no pressure to add unnecessary work, and everything stayed within budget. Work included removing old attic insulation, extensive air sealing, insulating the attic to R-60, sealing the attic hatch, adding insulation to vaulted ceilings, and spray-foaming problem areas and a cantilever. The team did an incredible job. I was especially impressed with how thoroughly they cleaned up afterward. Most importantly, I've noticed a significant decrease in my heating and A/C costs since the work was completed. Excellent communication, quality work, fair pricing, and no surprises.
