Once they completed the larger more expensive project in the attic they stopped answering my calls, texts, and emails. They had someone come over to the house to check the other rooms had them pull up our floor boards to take a look then never followed up to actually provide the service. I have called both my point of contact and the office multiple times with no response. As a result I am having to go with another company to have the rest of our work done which is extremely unfortunate. I really dont post reviews that often but I just wanted to relay my experience as I use yelp for a lot of my home service projects and rely on honest feedback not just artificially generated positive reviews.

They installed SunPower panels which a couple of my friends in the solar industry thought was a little high end for such a simple job. One was quoted as saying these were the Mercedes Benz of panels and shouldn't need something this expensive for a simple roof installation. I didn't think much of it at the time. Fast forward to current day. I went through a major renovation and added a new roof (and new direction). I contacted Edge in March to talk to them about getting a reinstallation. It took multiple weeks to get pricing for a simple 19 panel reinstall and I got into contract with Edge in mid April. It is now the last day of July (3 1/2 months later) and I was just notified that they still haven't submitted the plans to get a permit. In DC, I'm guessing that it will be multiple weeks/months more to get approval of the permits once they are submitted. Every time I email, I don't receive a response for at least a week. I've called multiple times now asking for someone in management to give me a call to discuss. Crickets. I wish I had the option to go with another company but given the Sunpower panels, no other company in DC will do the install due to the specialization needed to install Sunpower electrical wiring.

Warning sign #2 - When I showed him where the attic hatch was he informed me he didn't have a ladder and asked if I had one he could use. Warning sign #3 - Hal then informed me that the light on his phone wasn't working well and asked if I had a flashlight he could borrow. After supplying Hal the items needed he finished and gave me an estimate. Afterwards I had several questions and tried to reach Pride Insulation. I left several voice mail and email messages. No response. Finally, I left a deserved review on Yelp and quickly received a call from Hal (Pride Insulation). Hal said that this review would hurt their business and asked if there was anything he could do to help the situation. I explained that I had called and sent email and had no response. And if this is how they treat a potential customer image what kind of response you would get if there were problems once the job was finished. Hal agreed to work and correct the problems. We agreed for him to do the work on Monday February 27, 2017. I paid him 50% after he argued that he usually gets 100% of the money up front! Hal then said he would call me the next day to set up the insulation install. So I waited all day Tuesday. All day Wednesday. All day Thursday. No call. Tonight, Thursday evening I called Hal and canceled any insulation install and requested a refund of the deposit. Be careful doing business with any insulation company that: (1) Arrives late with no call. (2) Doesn't have a ladder. (3) Needs to borrow a flashlight. (4) Won't return phone calls or email. (5) Asks for 100% deposit. (6) Doesn't do what they say they will do.

Once we agreed on a start date, they were really lenient with scheduling. They worked around us getting our HVAC and duct work completed, even with delays they were able to switch the schedule around. Other than that, the contractors that came out knew exactly what we wanted done, there was no miscommunication, we didn't need to repeat ourselves and they gave us regular updates to ensure everything was completed correctly. What we got done: Insulation removal / filled in all the gaps, built a barrier around our HVAC / built a cat walk, and blew in new insulation.

After checking with some friends, based on their recommendations - I decided to try out Wesley Brooks of Green Home Energy Solutions. He is a small, local HVAC business. Wesley showed up, checked everything out, found the problem and quickly addressed it. He told me whomever had been doing the previous maintenance had been doing a poor job. He showed me what he cleaned out of the HVAC service panel outside by the compressor. It clearly had not been cleaned out for years. I requested to do another energy audit because the initial evaluation didnt provide CFM readings from Living Room and Dining room which is a colder area of the house. He was going to charge another $595 for another full audit, I asked for a discount and he said no. He said its not needed as he has all the information. When I agreed, he emails me back the following day to cancel because I had previously hired another provider due to Budget reasons. I find it disappointing that service would be refused based on my past decision to explore other options. This approach doesn't reflect the level of customer care I would expect.
