Quality Insulation - Really nice work in the garage.

    Quality Insulation

I usually don't write reviews. However, I felt compelled to write this one because others should…read moreknow about the extraordinary customer service provided by Mr. Chris Jordan, owner of Quality Insulation, Silver Spring, Maryland. Past spring, a chipmunk got lodged under the garage floor and died. One of the local pest control companies scared me and my husband that there were mice tunnels in the attic. They changed our fiberglass insulation to cellulose, treated with pesticide and fire-retardant chemicals. As senior citizens, little did we know at that time that we were being taken advantage of. A two days job was finished in four hours. That was the beginning of the nightmare. We found out that they didn't air seal. When I called the business, I was told that they are a pest control company; they don't air seal. The inside air was full of dust and chemical smell. The owner pushed back but finally came to take a look. He refunded some money because a good part of the old insulation wasn't removed. Now we had to find someone who would air seal the attic with the cellulose insulation in it. We found a local insulation company who agreed to do it. The price was really high, but we were desperate. We were told that we can get some energy rebate because it would make the house more energy efficient. Once we signed the contract, I asked about the paper work and was told that insulation is already done, so it won't work. This was the second time we felt that we were being taken advantage of. Meanwhile, the strong chemical odor and dust persisted. Finally, after five months, my husband and I decided that we would remove the pesticide and chemically treated insulation. It would be a loss of at least twelve thousand dollars, but it was a lesson we hoped to remember. That's when I looked at the Yelp reviews and found Chris Jordan. I called Chris on a Monday and got appointment the following Wednesday. He went to the attic and took pictures to show us. The baffles were all broken, and soffits were clogged with insulation. There was hardly any airflow to the attic. He found the old insulation mixed with new. He gave us an estimate which was very reasonable considering what he said he would do. The following Monday when I called to see how soon Chris could start the job, he said he could start in two days. He didn't ask for a signed contract or for down payment. That Wednesday, he sent four people including the foreman, and the crew took seven hours just to clean the attic. Chris came back on Thursday to check the attic for air seal and to make a note what needed to be done. He let the attic sit for a day to air out. That day, when we asked him about the invoice, he said he would wait to see how many bags of fiberglass insulation would be needed. He would charge only what would cost him. His conscience would not let him sleep at night if he made profit on us. After being taken advantage of twice, the empathy and compassion Chris showed us chocked our voice with emotion. We have never known anyone who would give up his profit to do the right thing. On Friday, his crew were back again. They air sealed wherever needed to be, put a screen of baffles, and put new insulation. The work ethic of the crew was amazing. Chris wrote down the instruction and they followed it to the last detail. Once everything was done, Chris called and gave the price. It was two thousand dollars less than the contract price. He said he could not give any more discount because there were lots of bags of insulation needed. It is more than 2100 sq ft of attic space we have. Again, my husband and I didn't know how to express our gratitude to him. The previous two experiences made us lose faith in doing business with anyone. However, coming across Chris Jordan was like God's way of telling us that there are still decent human beings left among us. The house feels clean like before, and my husband and I met a gentleman. No contract, no down payment, no profit--something unimaginable in today's world.

They did great job with insulation in attic. Would recommend and they were professional.read more

A completely unprofessional company. Getting them to show up at all is a chore, and when they do,…read morethey have "equipment malfunctions" that keep them from doing any work. Out of 5 days of spray foam work, they only did real work once. Also, they almost killed our cat by using the wrong foam, despite telling them he would be home. Luckily they had an equipment malfunction. We're two weeks into a 3 day job with no end in sight, and no insulation on our house.

I called Pride Insulation to give me an estimate on adding insulation to my home. Hal called and…read moregave me a time and date for the estimate. Warning sign #1 - Hal arrived 20 minutes late but I thought oh well things happen. Warning sign #2 - When I showed him where the attic hatch was he informed me he didn't have a ladder and asked if I had one he could use. Warning sign #3 - Hal then informed me that the light on his phone wasn't working well and asked if I had a flashlight he could borrow. After supplying Hal the items needed he finished and gave me an estimate. Afterwards I had several questions and tried to reach Pride Insulation. I left several voice mail and email messages. No response. Finally, I left a deserved review on Yelp and quickly received a call from Hal (Pride Insulation). Hal said that this review would hurt their business and asked if there was anything he could do to help the situation. I explained that I had called and sent email and had no response. And if this is how they treat a potential customer image what kind of response you would get if there were problems once the job was finished. Hal agreed to work and correct the problems. We agreed for him to do the work on Monday February 27, 2017. I paid him 50% after he argued that he usually gets 100% of the money up front! Hal then said he would call me the next day to set up the insulation install. So I waited all day Tuesday. All day Wednesday. All day Thursday. No call. Tonight, Thursday evening I called Hal and canceled any insulation install and requested a refund of the deposit. Be careful doing business with any insulation company that: (1) Arrives late with no call. (2) Doesn't have a ladder. (3) Needs to borrow a flashlight. (4) Won't return phone calls or email. (5) Asks for 100% deposit. (6) Doesn't do what they say they will do.
