After 40 years, our insulation was falling off. We also had (they discovered) squirrel damage. C.I. had a team of extremely hard-working folks who removed all the old stuff, repaired the squirrel damage, and then sprayed foam throughout our attic. The work was noisy and their workday was long. But worth it. The price was not inexpensive, but we believe for the number of workers, and the extent of the work, the price was fair. It's not something I want to be good at. read more

Capital Insulation recently insulated my attic and did an amazing job. I got 4 estimates before I chose them. They were not the cheapest but their quote was detailed and explained every step they took to install the insulation. They arrived at my house right on time and worked for 11 hours straight. They were meticulous removing all of the old insulation, sealing gaps, and blowing in new insulation. The difference in the comfort of my house was immediate. No more drafts. A few days after they finished, it snowed. Normally the snow would melt off my roof quickly due to all of the heat escaping through my attic. That is no longer happening. We used them to redo the insulation in our attic. The team that came out was very professional, incredibly friendly, and kept me updated throughout the process, and while it was expensive, it wasn't out of line with other companies in the area. My only complaint was related to the guy who gave us the estimate (Kyle I think?). He spent about 5 minutes in the attic and told us that it would be a really easy job, would be done in about 3-4 hours. Well, it turns out he missed things so we ended up with additional charges, and the process took closer to 9 hours, so I do feel somewhat misled by the estimate. Also they didn't replace the window screen they'd removed...which was not a huge deal, but kind of a pain to get it back in place. Overall still happy with the service. read more

We were notified that are check was written incorrectly and couldn't be cashed. I asked for it to be returned, but was told it wasn't valid only to find out thorough our bank they actually cashed it. We wrote them a separate check that we had to cancel (that BoA charged us a fee). I emailed them/texted and never heard from them for 2 days. I plan on reporting them to the BBB. Capital insulation did a great job! Karl came out because the 3rd level of my townhouse would always get warm during the summer months. He was the only contractor who actually got into the attic and looked around to properly inspect and make a recommendation. Similar to other reviews Karl gave me 2 separate quotes for R38 or R60. I recommend the R60 for everyone because it has dramatically decreased the temperature. Karl and his team came on time and once the job was completed they cleaned up and you would never have know they were there. His pricing also beat most of his competition. Capital Insulation did a great job removing my original insulation, sealing everything in the attic, and putting in new insulation up to code. They responded quickly to my original inquiry and came out to give me a quote. Karl actually gave me two quotes to choose from (removing old insulation or leaving it) as well as choosing R38 or R60. They were able to schedule the work within a week. The work itself took 7 hours and Karl vacuumed afterwards. He also took some pictures in my attic of a couple problems he found and talked me through whether to fix it or not. They did great service and great work. On the day of installation (we had additional insulation put into all three attics), a team came out first thing in the morning. Kyle, his son, explained what they were going to do and then placed tarps on the floor in all areas that they were going to work. Kyle kept me updated throughout the project and made suggestions as he went along. When the job was completed, the crew cleaned the areas and vacuumed. They did an amazing job and I appreciated the photos Kyle took in the attic, showing exactly what they did. More importantly, when I woke up the next morning, the heat in the house was warmer than it's ever been. I had to lower the temperature on my thermostat. Karl came out and checked out my attic as I was having issues keeping my living room cool during the summer (large cathedral ceilings with skylights). Karl looked through the entire attic and took the time to crawl through a very small opening into another portion of the attic (the only access point) to specifically look into the living room area to make sure they could provide good insulation coverage. Karl said they could definitely do it and even suggested some other areas that may be causing the excess heat buildup in my attic (roof vent opening size which he was correct and has since been fixed by the original roofers). Karl did some carpentry work to ensure there was a higher level of insulation in the attic and built a custom box for an attic fan that would ensure no squirrels or raccoons could enter my attic from the roof. Overall it was a great experience, Karl and his team were very prompt and professional and left the house in better condition then when they first visited. The work done was excellent and the purpose of everything was explained ( I ask a-lot of questions) very thoroughly and professionally. After getting two other estimates (#2 didn't even look in the attic, then pressured me to sign immediately on an over-priced contract or pay more than twice the cost I ended up paying), I was ecstatic to be rescued by Karl of Capital Insulation, Springfield. He did a thorough inspection, offered a reasonable price, showed up when promised, and was a Zen master who knew what the hell he was doing. His crew was efficient and capable. The house was cleaner after they left since they vacuumed all over, even under where their many tarps had been. They found a fire hazard and repaired it for free. Lisa, the scheduler, was super-efficient in moving the inspection and job dates earlier as dates opened up, and everyone was so friendly and helpful. Excellent service from start to finish. Karl came out to do an estimate about a year ago for re-insulating our attic. There was only 4-6" of original insulation left in the attic. We went through a full winter and summer before getting it done. Karl and his team showed up on time and ready to work. Half a day later we had a fully insulated attic. He even removed the old house fan that was leaking air into the attic and put new drywall over it. I could have gotten the project done cheaper by a few hundred dollars but none of the contractors I had come out were nearly as professional, polite, and knowledgeable as Karl. Just finished having our attic reinsulated today and we can already tell a big difference in the cooling of our upstairs. Our insulation was original to the home (40yrs) and we had about a 15-20 degree difference in temps between the upstairs and downstairs. Karl came to our home and provided an estimate within a couple of days of the request. We had additional quotes and Capital was priced at a reasonable rate. Additionally, they did a very nice job of detailing out what type of work they would do and communicated effectively. The day of the work they showed up a few minutes early ready to go. Everything was done neat and tidy and very efficiently. After about 4hrs of work on a 900 sq/ft attic, they were done and on their way. I also appreciated that all of the workers were U.S. citizens. Capital Insulation did a fantastic job on my attic. Karl and his team were great. They couldn't have been more professional or squared away. I'm warm and cozy in my condo for the first time in years. My old roll insulation was a mess. They cleaned up the whole place and blew in fresh fiberglass, not cellulose, which is very dusty. It looks like fresh snow-not dusty at all. They tented some exposed water pipes so that they wouldn't freeze and covered over some recessed lighting that hadn't been properly installed. They built up the plywood platform to fit the higher level of insulation, but left me plenty of storage space. All around great job! read more

I found Capital Insulation doing an online search and checked their BBB rating which was very good. Karl came out to the house and did a free estimate. He was very nice and clearly knows his stuff. He was patient, listened to our concerns, and patiently answered our questions. As a new homeowner we have multiple projects in the works and he also provided us with additional names of vendors that might be helpful to us. He promptly delivered the estimate via email and then honored it almost 90 days later when we were able to fund the project. On installation day Karl called ahead and arrived early. He and his team were professional and tidy which is a trick when you're blowing in insulation. They were finished in about 2 hours after installing baffles and insulating both level of our split level. In one of my initial conversation with Karl I joked about problems with new homes and referenced the HGTV show "Holmes on Homes" - a show I'm a fan of. The job was small and very difficult, but Karl's work produces major and immediate benefits. Ted crawled through an impossibly small access hole to apply foam sealant to small gaps and then blew fiberglass into a small but poorly insulated space. My wife and I had a great experience with Karl and his team. During the fall season of 2015 Karl came out to assess our unfinished basement. It's a really unique space and rough around the edges. It is not insulated. After a 10-15 minute walk-through that was very informational, Karl ultimately advised us not to insulate for a variety of reasons. He mentioned that a vapor barrier in our very tight and all dirt crawl space might be worthwhile, but not an immediate need. He also gave us some good tips to manage the space which we implemented. He was basically giving us his secret sauce for free. Fast forward to March 2016 when we decided to finish our crawl space with a vapor barrier and some insulation. Karl came back and immediately recognized the space and recalled our consultation from the fall. We looked at the crawl space, and he turned a quote around to us within a matter of hours. While in the house together I asked for a ballpark estimate which he would not give. I appreciated that. When he and his team showed up to perform the work (just a week or so later) they went above and beyond. They essentially had to regrade the dirt in the crawl space using nothing but a flimsy rake and some boards I had kicking around my basement with just a few feet of clearance above them. Their work was absolutely top notch, and despite the unanticipated effort of regrading the crawl space they came in on budget. Karl and his team are very professional and they do first rate work.
