this particular morning i had no time to make breakfast. It was a humid day, i was feeling very sick and this was my first time in the neighborhood. This cozy little vintage nook does not have a restroom but that is not the only issue. The issue here is how my tragic bagel looked. My bagel was burned. My bagel barely had any egg. My bagel barely had any cheese. I had sent a photo to my cousin who's a the head of administration at a hospital her response was "Do not finish that!" Coffee needs work or should I say the guy in the front needs a coffee himself to wake up. Asked for a large iced latte, he looked at me like I asked for a kidney. He said the latte only comes in small. I pointed at the large cup and said can you please give me extra ice and put in to that large cup - I'll pay extra. This place is just okay. It's good if you really want a bagel and don't want to walk to Franklin Ave, but it's sub par at best. They're friendly and have quick service, but they've messed up my order a handful of times and there are much better bagels in the area. And what they try to pass off as pumpernickel just makes me sad- I'm pretty sure it's just a wheat bagel. Updating my review 3 and a half years later to say that they still get my order wrong nearly every time. The last four times in a row my bagel has been wrong. I ordered for pickup via Seamless yesterday. #5 turkey with mozz, red peppers, garlic mayo -- YO for $11 [$9.75 + tax], I would expect the fucking panini to have more than 3 thin ass slices of turkey [see pic]. The bagel sandwich I got here was pretty good but nothing spectacular. I like that I could order at the window and not go inside, and that Lula offered two different types of vegan cream cheese (regular tofu and jalopeño tofu). However, the amount of cream cheese on the bagel was pretty thin. Our total cost for 2 whole wheat everything bagels with jalopeño tofu cream cheese, onion, tomato, and avocado was $17.50, which seems very steep (adding avocado costs $2.50 - much more than other bagel places I've been to). I've been going to lula bagel since before its reconstruction, and I feel as if the quality has gone downhill. They gave me an iced tea without notifying me they were without mint. The inside of the bagel always has like 4 shards of lazily cut onions.. no greens or anything. Sporadically there is someone friendly selling me something. Altogether cool but meh food experience. The coffee is good and you can add CBD (lol) to your tea, so these things are a plus and earn the stars here. You can sit in this place but counter/table space is limited in quantity and comfort. Great music/vibes. Unfortunately for them, Colina Cuervo across the street still objectively has them beat for coffee anyhow and is more my style aesthetically. Reviews about bagels (it's in the name) from this place makes me wonder if people have had bagels almost anywhere else in the 5 boroughs. Bagels are ok and left me wanting; the everything bagel with cream cheese is what I use as my metric. Not sure if they're baked on premises, but would find it hard to believe as they lack physical space. They taste ok (trends toward bread rather than bagel) but lack bite. Everything seasoning was standard. Wouldn't do scrambled eggs for my girlfriend, only fried. Those processes are not all too dissimilar, but service was minimal. Funny thing is Lula Bird next door (obviously same owner) is ~phenomenal~ and will be even more so once they figure out in-store logistics of ordering/paying. read more

I first tried this gem while I was dying from a hangover. 5 stars for restoring life. Now I love taking my laptop and working from this cozy little spot. They, of course, have wifi, as well as a convenient little printer. Big windows to watch the city streets while you sit. I could probs get a pizza for the price, but the Everything Bagel is everything to me. I also tend to customize my orders because bacon. First off just some updates for some of the comments who are confused. Yes, the BACON EGG AND CHEESES are not $3.50 from a standard bodega because 1) the bagels are freshly delivered everyday from one of the top local bakeries 2) the bacon is cooked fresh and isn't hard crispy old bacon and 3) it's freaking bomb and you can customize it with anything you want! Secondly- if you are getting "subpar" food and drinks, maybe you might try ordering from the variety of a menu :) Thirdly, I have been coming here for years. Yes, sometimes the staff might be a little rushed because they are so darn busy from being so darn good all the time! The staff looks consistent as well- meaning they probably have a great boss and work their butts off- so, cut them some slack- hey this is Brooklyn! & also- if you ask there is a restroom you may use. No one will refuse you that. Try the #5 and am original cold brew or even a dirty iced chai! You can't go wrong by going here. Holy moly is Lula a score. I originally stopped in because they have a Print With Me machine, but Serious Heavenly Bagel Vibes persuaded me to stay for a bite. I got an untoasted pumpernickel bagel with scallion cream cheese, cucumber, and a heavy dose of their homemade hot sauce, which has a sweet, numbing, Korean spicy profile. One word: amazing! I also got a mint lemonade, which needed to have been just a little more tart to be absolutely perfect. But it was still a delicious beverage. Thanks to Yelp I found Lula Bagel for a great late morning breakfast within walking distance of my airbnb. The grilled ham tomato and cheese sandwich on 7-grain bread was pretty good but I really loved selection #8 on the menu. It's a bagel (I got the whole wheat "everything ") with an organic fried egg, avocado, cheddar, mayo and tomato. A little messy, but extremely delicious! Americano coffees were just "ok". I wasn't happy about eating in. The dining area is cramped like a broom closet and bringing the food and coffee to the table was a chore for all the people standing in the way. Alright fam, so my normal order is a cinn raisin bagel toasted with light butter. They were never amazing, but hey, beggars can't be choosers and the line at Bagel Pub on weekends is crazy. So, I get my bagel today, walk home, excitedly open it up, and what do I find. Legit the entire bagel had one raisin--one! Lowkey they also put so little cinnamon in their cinn raisin bagels that they honestly look and taste like a plain bagel. I love Lula Bagel and I am beyond grateful for it's location on Nostrand Avenue. I ignored all of those sad reviews below mine and gave it a try. Not only are the bagels phenomenal, but the coffee is strong and delicious. I like the simplistic hardware themed interior. Also, I went back the same day for the PB&J on whole grain bread. I feel like I have been eating this childhood classic wrong for the last 27 years I have been living - that's how good it was. Also, it was $3.00. Only $3.00!!! I received 3 plain bagels and a plain bagel sandwich with cream cheese, tomato, salt and pepper. Yes S&P was added - weird move, indeed. When I asked for them to go back and fix my order, they informed me they were sold out of everything bagels and couldn't refund my order. Who doesn't know which bagels are available when taking the order? And then doesn't inform the customer until one receives the order? Right, second-tier stale bagel places do that. This place is pretty good the prices are fair, I don't wanna badmouth them but I have to share my experience this morning, they don't have an email address otherwise I would have emailed them. I ordered a bagel w lox, cream cheese & everything, and I'm waiting almost 20 minutes. from 9:17 (says on the receipt) to 9:35. It wasn't even toasted (they didn't ask and I didn't care, I'm just saying it shouldn't take that long). Not the best lox bagel I've had but it's definitely more affordable vs. other bagel spots. This was $9 and very filling. Always have to save the other half and eat it later. - #9 on the bagel menu: grilled/pressed bagel with cheese, turkey and tomato. My BF's favorite. They press/grill the bagel with the ingredients so that it's like a panini. The turkey, cheese and tomato work well if you're in the mood for a hot bagel sandwich. I once requested it to be without tomato and they wouldn't make the adjustments. No biggie. Still a decent breakfast sandwich. Honestly, I prefer Colina Cuervo right down the street but sometimes you just want a bagel. I have a love hate relationship with Lula... I love that it's literally across the street from my house. My favorite things to grab are the salads w/ a scoop of tuna or a grilled cheese sandwich. The sandwich on ciabatta bread is pressed in the panini grill and the bread comes out crunchy with gooey, yummy cheese running out the sides. I get the sandwich with a side of avocado for dipping! So good! What I hate about this place is how slow it is and how long it takes to get your food order. Don't go here if you're in a morning rush. You need to budget at least 15mins. The other issue are some of the folks who work there. Totally agree with some other reviews that some of the people can be curt and rude. I actually stopped going for a while because I just didn't feel like spending my money in a place where I didn't feel welcomed.
