We came to Luk Fu for dinner and the casino to celebrate my friends 55th birthday. Backstory - We frequent the casino and every time we walk by Luk Fu we are greeted with the most amazing aromas from the restaurant so we thought we would give it a try for this special occasion. The fried calamari appetizer was also recommended by one of our guests that has eaten at Luk fu before. I easily made reservations for 7 on Saturday at 8pm through Open Table. Upon making reservations, my sister told me about the Chef's table. I called the restaurant to make these accommodations. Annie the assistant manager was very pleasant and explained the chefs recommendation and sent me an email to review 2 menus, one was 40 person and the other was 60 per person. After reviewing the menu, even though the dishes sounded delicious, we decided to just order from the menu since we wanted to keep the price range low for some of our guests. The night of the dinner, we arrived about 10-15 minutes early. We were told table would be ready at 8 so we stood by the hostess stand and decided we would play a table game. Before we walked away, we were told the table was ready. For a table of 7 we received 2 little round tables pushed together. When the waitress took our drink orders, some of the guests wanted cocktails and other wanted water. The waitress then said I'll bring the table a round of water. When our drinks were served, by someone who was probably the runner only 2 out of 7 guests did not receive water. By the time I could get the waitresses attention to let her know we needed 2 more glasses of water, one of our guest already needed a refill. The waitress then returned with 2 waters. I, then tried to get the runners attention to which she just gestured what I needed. She was at another table and the DJ was behind her playing music - I knew I wouldn't be able to communicate with her without screaming across our other guests so I mouthed for her to come over. By the time she came over, our other guest figured out the water but we still needed another one. Next, we ordered appetizers: 2 orders of yaki man do, japchae, 2 orders of fried calamari and duck soup. The appetizers were very good. Next, we ordered - galbi (so tough many of us could not even chew it and the flavor was not like most Galbis We have tried), pan fried noodles with seafood(the waitress asked me was I aware how this dish was prepared, I said yes and she said ok because a lot customers return it because it's not what they expected- well after trying this dish, I'm not sure they return it because it's not what they expect, I think it's because it was prepared horribly, the noodles were slimy with no crisp at all, if the chef intended for it to be pan fried, he added the sauce too early and it was basically mush). We also ordered the Yu Choi , which was another disappointment since it had no flavor at all. Our saving grace was the Sriracha sauce that helped flavor most of our dishes. Finally we ordered the Kim Chi Fried Rice. We didn't complain about the food at the time since all of us were starving. Next time we will probably stick with the appetizers or just skip it all together. Also, I agree with other reviewers - prices were high for no reason. Im old school in that way. This restaurant has Chinese, Vietnamese, Japanese, Korean, Thai and Continental cuisines. Im usually a fan of Vietnamese as I love pho and summer rolls but the temperature outside was too warm for pho IMO. I did however want summer rolls....but wait no summer rolls on the Vietnamese menu!? My friend said they used to have them on the menu however they never had them when she ordered them so its best that they took it off the menu. Now my ballon has deflated a bit. Sigh. I see kimchi on the Korean menu so that might be an option. Ive been craving sushi so I glance at the Japanese menu. I skip the Chinese menu all together since its my least favorite of asian cuisine. I skip the Thai menu because Ive had that a lot in the last month. She orders shrimp and pork shui mai and bulgogi. I order the spicy tuna roll, yellowtail roll and seaweed salad. I sampled one of her shui mai. We both agreed that it tasted a bit weird, not sure how to define the taste but paired with the sauce made it taste much better! She said her bulgogi was a bit salty but good. Bulgogi came with white rice and kimchi. She doesnt like kimchi....score for me! Kimchi was awesome, not too sour, not spicy but the perfect marriage of spices. Spicy tuna roll was plated very nice but something on the top made it salty. Im sodium sensitive but nothing wasabi cant fix! Yellowtail roll was okay. I would order the spicy tuna roll again but not the yellowtail roll. We both agreed that the seaweed salad was a little on the sweet side but still good and we would order it again. My friend also said she's had the pho and its good. Wow what a disappointment ;( this place has to review the food flavor man even my Chinese Great grandfather is turning in his grave. :( What a big fail. They do Chinese food no honor. Luk Fu is a definite go-to in the area. If you're military, the casino offers a $20 voucher every Wednesday, so I would go to Luk Fu every Wednesday and enjoy a delicious meal. I mostly ordered a veggie fried rice, which was pretty delicious. read more

Great variety of food offered here. Me and my wife looked at the menu and there were a ton of items we wanted to try. We had the crab rangoons for an appetizer, only complaint was it is a small order of only 5, but they are delicious. I ordered the Singapore noodles, they are very thin noodles with Chicken, shrimp, pork, green and red peppers with a little bit of curry that makes it a little spicy. My wife had the pork fried rice which was delicious as well and we both enjoyed the meals we ordered. A disaster from start to finish! Food was nothing to write home about but getting it served was an ordeal. In order of events: The paging system did not work, at all! There were people standing around waiting for the page. Some were so frustrated they gave the pagers back! I had to point out a table to force the staff to clear it and seat us. My order was wrong. Ordered Pad Thai with beef, got it with chicken. We received an appetizer we never ordered. My wife's order never came until we insisted the server check back with the kitchen (she put the order in then). Some parties got preferential and constant treatment, reserved tables. So their dim sum is good but is it $7 good? The answer is no. I had better in Toronto. Their soupy dumpling is $12 for 5 dumplings. Same answer as the red bean bun, it is good but not worth the price. I had better and cheaper in NYC Ctown. We all have issues with service. Not once did our waitress refill our water. I have eaten at Luk Fu twice now. The first time was good. The second time was great. I love their dim sum, especially the Har Gau (shrimp dumplings) and the Chai Sui Bao (pork buns). Coming from New York, my standards for authentic Asian cuisine are pretty high, but Luk Fu did not disappoint. I really love the Beef Chow Fun and the Singapore Noodles, and the House Fried Rice was excellent. For me, the location at the center of the Maryland Live Casino, was an inspired idea. I can still see, hear and feel the action and excitement around me. I don't feel like I'm walking away from the fun, but it also feels like an oasis that lets me relax and enjoy my food. Decided to take a shot at the new restaurant. Atmosphere made me feel like I was in an Asian country. I had the shrimp lo Maine. Very good flavor. Fresh vegetables I was impressed because this was the first above average food I had inside the casino. The negative are the prices are very about average for this dish. Not even at p. F. Chang. We ordered mainly dim sum items because I wanted to see if they would be a good place to for dim sum. The menu has a variety of all asian food minus Korean and japanese. So we ordered shu mai, lotus wrap, fried shrimp balls,, har gau, dai bao. The shui mai was ok a bit strong on the dried shrimp spice. Lotus wrap was ok same thing their shrimp paste sauce seems to just slightly over power the other flavors. Fried shrimp was good. Crispy and juicy. Har gau was a little dry. Dai bao was good. Soft dough with a good pork filling. Overall I would say the dim sum is ok. I would rather go to other places in rockville or virginia. I will come back another time to try the congee and other asian dishes. I did notice the chefs use store bought pot stickers they bring out of the freezer. Everything else as far as I know is made fresh. One tip for dim sum I think because we came for dinner a lot of the food was left in the steamer so the flavor dulled out. Pad Thai good and a little tangy with large shrimps, however the large flat noodles were used and portion small for the price. Har gaw or shrimp dim sum dumplings were tiny but good. The endamame was typical. The pot stickers were average. Recommend for those who have a craving for soup dumplings who do not mind paying more vs driving to Rockville. Also good for those who crave dim sum while gambling. Considering there really isn't any dim sum places in a 15+ mile radius that I am aware. I go to Luk Fu at least a couple times a month. I'm the Szechuan Shrimp and my boyfriend gets Lo Mein. Honestly, it is the best Szechuan Shrimp I have ever had. The shrimp are a good size and the sauce is very tasty. Yes, it's a little expensive but I'm in a casino so I'm there to spend money. In addition, the staff is always polite. There is one waitress in particular who recognizes us (probably because we always get the same thing). We don't usually go there when we know it's going to be busy (Fri/Sat. night) so we always get good service. The staff does sometimes ask for ID when paying with a credit card, but who cares. I would take a star off for the incorrectly stated wait time and some of the interaction with the wait staff. The hostess was nice but they were about 20 minutes off with the wait time. We sat around the "grill boat" area which was weird because it wasnt really any thing to look at cooking wise, but it was set up like a bar. We had 2 or 3 waitresses that kept coming back and forth asking the same questions which was a bit tedious for us as guest and one waitress continued to get to close when taking my order, that was a part, that i did not like at all. A real treat!!! I had there wonton noodle and dumpling soup. It was terrific. (and a BIG bowl!) I was by myself and in a good mood for having done well in a poker tournament that just finished. I ordered a yellowtail roll and an order of the soup dumplings. Roll was good, and it came out quickly, but it was expensive and quite small compared to your typical maki from good sushi restaurants. Soup dumplings arrived a good 30 MINUTES after the roll, and they came out with tough, brittle skins and NO soup inside whatsoever. They were all broken and somehow both rubbery and crumbly at the same time. The waiter recognized the problem, apologized, and asked if I would like something else, instead. I ordered the chow ho fun to replace the terrible dumplings. By this time, the place had gotten much more crowded than when I arrived. I waited 30 minutes more for my replacement dish, and when it was nowhere in sight, I asked the waiter for an update. He went and spoke with the chef, motioning to me and explaining that I had been waiting a long time. The chef SCREAMED at him and flailed his arms like a madman. The waiter came back to me and said, "You see that? He yelling at me. I'm sorry. I tried." I paid for my roll and left hungry after being there over an hour. read more

The noodle bar is usually a go to late night snack choice in casinos. I gave this new place a shot, after the previous asian noodle bar in the Live Casino was notoriously nasty. I went with a large party in the middle of the night. After 4 of the dishes were served, we were told that the remainder would come when more bowls were available. Who would have thought, a restaurant running out of dinner ware. Service was shabby and the food nearly inedible, unless drowned in hot sauce. read more
