I found Comptons Automotive through ScannerDanner's shop directory. I called 10 minutes after they closed trying to get an appointment for first thing Friday morning. The owner Tom Compton returned my call roughly 20 AFTER they closed to set an appointment for first thing Friday morning with the hopes to get him back on the road if possible depending on the issue/parts availability. However, my father in law ultimately decided to rent a uhaul to tow the escape and continue driving so they wouldn't be late for the moving truck with all their stuff in it. An owner that invests in high quality training such as scannerdanner to ensure that the vehicle gets diagnosed and repaired the correct way the first time. The owner and his team you can tell genuinely cares about people and ensuring that customer gets treated the right way. You will be hard pressed to find better service and generosity than the team at Compton's Automotive. Wish I could give them 10 stars!

It refused to start for a few more days after this so I got it towed. Being new to Charlotte I thought this place would be good to tow the car to due to it's great reviews and how close it was to where I lived. It is not and I have absolutely no idea how it has so many good reviews. Sadly when they investigated my vehicle the following week (not concerned about how long it took, it was during the holidays so it is understandable that it took them a while to get to it) the car started. I guess because of this they decided to not investigate the issue further, note the car still has trouble starting and will likely break down again in a few more days which I assume is what they are hoping... They either did not find the issue out of laziness or chose not to disclose it in hopes my car would be back there for another $150 "Drivability Evaluation". They charge $78 to clean rear brakes. This includes spraying your brakes with a can of $5 brake cleaner. The only thing they offered me that was priced fairly was the oil change at $66. I rejected all of these services besides sadly the fuel system service and oil change. I was under the assumption that the fuel system service actually included a full service and not just a $20 cleaning solution dumped in with my fuel. I should've asked first which is my mistake. I'm writing this review in hopes other people do not make that mistake and maybe this scam of a business can start operating fairly with the consumer in mind. UPDATE: Owner was "threatened" with a chargeback that he seems to love to overdramatize into something it's not. He seems to have a habit of misrepresenting things, especially his services. I was polite during the call while the associate on the phone was yelling and screaming and hung up on me. Also I didn't have a SO make any reviews about my experience as that is my experience and mine alone. After learning about how your business operates I most definitely took my car and left without coming back inside to ask for you to take another look. I did not and do not trust your business, why would I ask you to take another look at it after seeing how your business operates? Makes absolutely no sense.

I was told that my front brakes were at 1% and that I would eventually need to also have my back brakes fixed. So, I got the front brakes fixed, but when I picked up my car, I still heard a disturbing noise. I called Jake at Super Eagle and shared the concern. Jake responded appropriately and said to bring the car back. The sound became worse over the weekend. When I took it back, I did not get the same type of service as before -no text messages sharing the status of my car and no calls with updates. We called three times and only got voicemail. Upon finally hearing from them, I was told that my back brakes/pads were basically gone - metal on metal, and they couldn't/didn't even try to drive it to hear the sound. It is unacceptable that one week later, my car was worse. Hubby and I have concluded that they replaced the wrong brakes the first time. This mistake, the absence of updates, and the subpar level of service were extremely disappointing. Full disclosure - after expressing our displeasure, we were given a discount of maybe 15-20% Unfortunately, my initial excitement of finding a new shop for my Volvo is gone. Here's why: 1) I found them online and they had great reviews. We all know the power of a good review from happy customers! 2) After I performed my freestyle rap of what was wrong with the car, the owner Terry said "Okay, let's go drive it." What?!? Rented a car and came back to Darrell's at 8am and explained my symptoms. They knew exactly what it was likely to be (a suspension problem). I asked if it could be fixed on Friday so I could drive home. They did! And washed and detailed the car so when I picked it up Friday at 2:30 we could hit the road home confidently. Car handled perfectly. The repair was very reasonable. Great job by everyone at Darrell's. Highly recommended!
