I had a terrible experience at this shop. I went to Chris for a labor only brake job for rear brakes & rotors (I bought my own parts prior). I was quoted 158 for this job the day prior over the phone and I confirmed at the start of the appointment if that would be the price. My brakes were in poor shape, missing a brake pad on one side and the mechanics spent an extra 15-20 mins working on my cylinder. At the end of the job, Chris informed me that they got air on the line and would have to bleed the brakes. (I've always had my brakes bled at the end of any brake job so this is standard for me to have done whenever I get my breaks done. They told me this would be an extra 120 dollars at the end of the job. My father is a mechanic and said that price was a little high just to bleed the brakes and was very familiar with the procedure. He told me "go call your dad and ask him to send you more money." When I asked if they could take 20 bucks off and knock the price down to 100 from 120 he asked me to tell him how old I was which I thought was rude and uncalled for. I told him I was 30 and he proceeded to say "wow you look 18" and said "one day you're going to have to learn that everything in life isn't free sweetheart." When I went to his office to pay he also said I'm going to have to buy him lunch because they spent extra time working on my car than they planned. Disgusting behavior. I would not recommend this shop to any woman (or really anyone) unless you want to be taken advantage of and upsold. They ended up bleeding one brake so my car would be somewhat drivable. I came in thinking i had a trans problem and we talked through all possible options after car techs review they seen it was not my trans but something else that they fixed next day. I have been going to this car repair shop for over two years now. Brad is the owner and his top auto mechanic Darrell is usually the one that works on my car when I go in. I have a 2002 Lexus RX 300 and have been very pleased with the results since bringing my car to them at Car Tech. The first time I went here I had been referred to this company by a close friend. I had taken my car to an auto repair shop on South Blvd. for auto inspection and was told it was failed and needed work done the cost of the work was quoted as $326 be Eddie. I took it to Cartech for second opinion and Darrell look at the car and then Brad looked at the car and then they told me there was nothing wrong with the part that was in question. Darrell put the car back together, charged me nothing. I was told to take it back to the shop on South Boulevard where Eddie had failed the inspection and I had to pay for part of the State Inspection. I was told if they did not pass it this time then to call them at Cartech. I took the car back to the original repair shop again Eddie looked at it quickly, then passed the inspection the second time even though nothing had been done to the car. Nothing else was said about it. I just decided not to get into a shouting match with Eddie at the other car repair shop and let him know I now knew he tried to rip me off. I decided to report this issue to Yelp and let the other ladies and men in Charlotte know not to take your car to the shop on South Boulevard and get ripped off. I suggest especially to the ladies that they should take their cars to the Car Tech Automotive Repair Shop and be treated fairly as we deserve to be treated! This is an issue that happens to women all the time but they don't always take the time to come to YELP and/other sites to report the problem and let people know where you'll get ripped off and where you won't. I must be honest with you, I am a little bit concerned. I wrote all that information on the YELP website then. I have written up good things about the Cartech Automotive Repair Shop twice before and when I came back tonight to look for those and add to them they were no longer on the site or at least I COULDNT find them under the name Cartech. read more
