We've been going here for 20 years. The food is fantastic and the service is normally great. But tonight was one of the worst experiences we have ever had. No one in the place at 5pm and wouldn't seat us up front. 4 waitresses literally cackling as if no one was there. Unbelievably unprofessional. We almost walked out but had already had a glass of wine. It only got worse. Recommend you do take out and leave the wait staff to themselves! $75 for a very unforgettable experience. I have been here for dinner several times and it never disappoints. The food and service are consistently great and I always enjoy myself. Do yourself a favor and try the smoked mozzarella and prosciutto salad and the homemade coconut gelato- both are amazing. I also really like the Luigi's salad, and the warm, fresh baked bread is addicting. They have outdoor seating available which is nice, and they do large orders to take out if you are hosting a party. Great Italian food with even greater pricing!! I went to dinner with 2 of my friends and we were craving some good Italian food on a budget. Luigi's is a perfect place to go! It is a cute, smallish restaurant with quick service. The bread is pretty good too. I ordered a meatball grinder and it was about 7 dollars and my friends went for spaghetti and meatballs. I thought the grinder was a nice size for the price and it was delicious. My friends raved about the spaghetti and meatballs saying that "it hit the spot". Yummy Italian food that isn't too pricey can be a challenge but Luigi's does not fail to deliver. I am glad we found this spot and we will for sure be back again! read more

Funny the spots you take for granted. Aren't old shoes the most comfortable? I've dined here for over 20 years, rarely in the last few. But, the new modern decor is pleasant and creates a more intimate atmosphere. The wine list is predominantly regional Italian w a few Californian. I rarely write about pricing. But it's of note that, one can still dine in a relaxing modern atmosphere, enjoy a very good $8 glass of Italian wine & have a Classic Italian meal for $14 in lower Fairfield County. Started w the tortellini in Brodo. The broth had a nice chicken flavor but not overly rich, the meat tortellini was average. A real stand out is the smoked mozzarella appetizer w a ton of shaved prosciutto over greens. Excellent! This is a large appetizer to be shared or even enjoyed as a meal w their famous hot fresh pizza bread. The eggplant parm was anything but a dried out slab of fried eggplant smother in red sauce & cheese. It was tender, fresh, layered w velvety buttery mozzarella, delicate hot goodness. Very satisfying. With a side of angel hair w a sauté of garlic in olive oil was the perfect side. The vongole (cherry stone clams) was a smaller portion but the clams were abundant & tender. And the red sauce kept its bright red fresh tangy flavor. Gluten fee pasta offered. House made fresh linguini. The menu offers all of the classic Italian standards w a few creative options. Specials only on the weekends. Service is ok- not super attentive, slightly brisk and our server should have had an understanding of the menu's dish preparation & ingredients. read more

We have been regulars for 10-15 years and been coming at least 3 times per month, usually for dinner. That adds up to a lot of dinners! I am surprised to read some of the less favorable reviews here. I have no reason to doubt the factual basis for those, no place is perfect, but if our experience is at all representative, these occurrence must be very rare. We have never had a plain bad experience and that has to be more than just luck given how many times we have been there! It has not been perfect every time, a few things could have been better here and there, but overall we are very happy to keep coming back. read more

Special Orders - no problem Went to Luigi's on Tuesday night for dinner with my wife. We enjoyed a great dinner in a comfortable and clean restaurant. The staff (only seemed to be one person working out front) was friendly, efficient and professional. The place had about 10-15 tables and I think there were 3 or 4 other parties there. We are long time Fairfield residence but this was our first visit to Luigi's. My wife recently had her company holiday party here and she liked it and wanted to introduce me to the place. We started with the Calamari. It was fresh and crispy. The marinara sauce was flavorful and a good compliment. I prefer the RI style with pepperoncini but it tasted fine without them so thumbs up! My wife continued with the seafood theme and had the fish, francese style with veggies, it was lightly battered, fresh and the sauce was great. (Yes I had a chunk.) There were two nice sized fillets. I had the veal piccata and added capers to the sauce (special order 1.) The veal was great and the sauce was great with lemon and maybe a little wine. The veggies on this night were green beans and roasted potatoes, they were very good. As we were wrapping up we order 2 meals to go. The chicken parm with pasta and a special dish for my youngest. I took the gnocchi dish that comes with broccoli and a garlic and olive oil sauce and made it my own by substituting the gnocchi with penne, adding fresh mozzarella and then putting a filet mignon on the top! Came here for the first time on a Thursday night because of a Groupon. The deal was an appetizer and 2 entrees - no restrictions - good deal. We actually tried to go a few weeks earlier - tried to call to make a reservation, but there was no response or answering machine saying that they were closed so we thought they might have just been too busy to answer the phone. Went by anyway and saw they were in fact closed without a note on the door (Friday night). Attempt number 2 - the place was less than half full and we got seated in the back corner. Waitress seemed friendly, but was frazzled as if she had to take care of a full restaurant. Appetizer - Funghi di Bosco - Mushrooms were good. Polenta was nice and crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Entrees - per the menu, "Famous" Eggplant parm - not that great. The eggplant was very thin so it was mostly batter. The whole thing was also fairly soggy. I also found it odd that in between the layers was a bunch of basil. Was expecting more from their signature dish. It came with a side of homemade pasta - which didn't have that fresh homemade pasta texture I was expecting... it actually just tasted like it was from a box. Filet Mignon - looked like it was about a 3oz steak - it was just ok. Wouldn't come here again - there are better Italian restaurants in the same area. read more

We ordered takeout to bring to the house. I'm homemade spaghetti and meatballs, chicken Marsala, gnocchi with broccoli and garlic, and linguini with clams in white wine. They were friendly and welcoming on pickup and threw in a loaf of delicious fresh baked bread. Everything was just like grandma used to make and that's great since we brought it all to grandmas house for a holiday visit dinner. Wanted to try a new place for dinner and after passing this place a million times decided it would be a nice place to celebrate our 365 day countdown to our wedding. The parking can be a bit crazy as it took some back and forth to find a good spot,due to it being in a plaza and the restaurant having a heavy flow of take out orders. The wait wasn't to bad. The atmosphere was very busy filled with families out for the night. FOOD: We started with the fried zucchini and mozzarella which took without exaggeration a solid 20 minutes to get to the table, but after demolishing the well cooked appetizer it made up for the time. I ordered the lasagna which I could eat everyday it was that good,the sauce in my opinion was the best I've tasted in the area. My other half had a pesto based veal with white wine sauce which she wasn't to happy with as it was drenched in a very oily pesto on top of a white wine broth that sat at the bottom of the plate. Which our waiter kindly offered a change of entree without hesitation. Overall it was a good choice,the red wine they had on special was very very good. Would I return yes. read more

I have driven by this spot for years. Finally had dinner here tonight. Now I regret not having stopped the first time me I saw the place!! We had the Fughi Di Bosco grilled Portobellos mushrooms with garlic, basil and tomatoes with roasted homemade polenta for an appetizer. The Timballo di Melanzane, freshly made pasta with fresh tomato and mozzarella wrapped with eggplant and topped with tasty marinara and freshly grated imported parmigiano cheese. The fresh warm bread was delicious. Service was good. And I absolutely loved the Cesar salad! It had great flavor. I got the ravioli. It was okay... not enough cheese or flavor, could make at home. Luigi is more of an italian restaurant that sells pizza than just a pizza place. Nevertheless, if I am looking to get a pizza this is my first choice. I can list other places I really like (Pepe's , Nauti Dolphin) but 3 times out of 5 I choose here because Luigi is just damn good pizza. Was there today with a small sized party (8). We were seated by the waitress who was immediately overwhelmed. She couldn't figure out how to arrange the tables/seats to seat us. We tried to make suggestions (which were ignored) and ended up having to sit at two separate tables. Two tables could have been placed together to remedy this issue. She then sat a party of two while ignoring us. They were seated served drinks and bread with their order taken before we finally went and got OURSELVES menus. This other party was served and out the door before we even got drinks! We told the waitress we were on a limited time which seemed to make her move even slower. I was midorder when she stopped listening to me so I had to have another memeber of our party order my beverage. She didn't bring one member of our party her order and when reminded about it she got upset and rude. She continually rolled her eyes at this member of our party behind her back. She also spilled another member of our party's meal and when asked for something to clean it up with she rolled her eyes took a napkin off the table and poorly cleaned up the mess. She never apologized for spilling over half of the meal. As a former waitress and restaurant manager I was horrified with this. I have been to this location before and was pleased, but after today's experience I don't think I'll be returning and will not recommend Luigi's to anyone. read more

I happen to live a few minutes away from this restaurant but never felt inclined to go there until I saw a Groupon deal. The interior seems nice. The hostess wasn't very friendly. The waitress was a sweetheart but appeared overwhelmed. Service was slow. The food was okay. The portion size of the fried calamari appetizer was huge. Our entrees took forever. Once they arrived we were disappointed. The portion size of the sole and chicken was on the smaller side. The sides were supposed to be grilled veggies. We only got about 4-5 pieces of undercooked veggie and potato. Out food was beyond super salty. We couldn't finish it. If I was to ever go back I would likely stick to the pizza or pasta dishes. read more

This is everything Italian restaurants should be- tasty, huge portions, and reasonably priced. Our server was very sweet and made sure our food and drinks were all 100% perfect- which they definitely were! We left with a second meal's worth of leftovers and a very full belly.
