Joanne's Table in Fairfield is truly phenomenal! I've spent quite a bit of time enjoying this restaurant, photographing the food, and taking in everything Joanne's Table has to offer--and it continues to impress every single time. There is so much care and attention to detail in both the food and the overall dining experience. Some of the standout dishes include the Chicken Parmesan with linguine and garlic butter sauce, the cod with lemon risotto and broccoli, and the veal Milanese. Everything is beautifully presented and full of flavor. The salads are fantastic as well, especially the Mista and the yellow beet salad with goat cheese. And if you have room for dessert, save it! Their dessert menu is phenomenal. The chocolate cake and lemon lava cake are incredible, and the desserts are made fresh. I also love that the bread is delivered fresh every day from a local bakery. That kind of attention to freshness really makes a difference. Other favorites include the branzino, the zucchini rotini, and the Supplì--iconic Roman fried rice croquettes made with tomato-seasoned risotto rice, melted mozzarella in the center, and crispy breadcrumbs. They're absolutely delicious and a must-try appetizer. Joanne's Table is one of those restaurants where you can keep coming back and still discover something new. We've been wanting to try out Joanne's Table for a while after seeing all the great reviews, and well... it's absolutely phenomenal. It's a small restaurant with about 10 tables, without much parking out front. When you enter, it feels like home. Everyone seems to know each other. Joanne herself greeted us at the door - she was wonderful host throughout the night. Ok let's get to the food because it is excellent. We started with the meatballs with whipped ricotta and the mushroom crostini. Both were incredible. The meatballs (which come 2 per order) were the size of my fist - you could tell they had been marinating all day. Moist, soft, juicy, they were among the best I've ever had. Now the mushroom crostini - unreal. They're cooked with pears, so they have a sweet earthy flavor, and placed on goat cheese on delicious fresh bread. To die for. I'm going to be honest, we were almost full by the time the entrees arrived. Between us we got the chicken parmigiana, which comes with a side of garlic linguine, the fettuccine vingole (white wine and clams) and a simple plate of spaghetti. All of these were excellent, the chicken parm in particular. Unfortunately we did not save room for dessert, but will try to next time since we've heard so many good things about the sweets here. Incredible hidden gem. This small spot is truly a gem in Fairfield. Some of the hands down BEST meatballs we've ever had. The staff is lovely and the place is very warm and welcoming. There is not a bite that didn't impress! The parking out front is very limited and you cannot use the spot for the salon or in the back. However, right across the street is a huge church parking lot and street parking so relatively easy in that sense. This is a must visit. read more

Every single thing was delicious.... from the mushroom crostini with pears to the caeser salad, to the HUGE meatballs to the perfectly cooked chicken parm and lastly to the chocolate and carrot cake (that's homemade and prepared daily because they do not have a freezer). It is family owned and operated -- I was served by Joanne herself, and her daughter, and they were extremely attentive and kind. When possible, they also source their ingredients from local farmers' markets! Everything was amazing, but their house made gnocchi, meatballs, and chicken parmesan hold a special place in my heart. Intimate, cozy restaurant ran by a mother and daughter serving delicious Italian dishes. I had the meatballs which were super moist and very filling. Seriously you can share one meatball between two people for an appetizer, dish came with two. For my entree I had the rigatoni alla vodka. This too was a large portion. Rigatoni was perfectly cooked. For desert the lemon lava cake was divine! I sat at the bar without a reservation, and the service was wonderful. I had a gin based blueberry cocktail which was so tasty! We went here on a whim and were pleasantly surprised! The dining room was definitely on the smaller side, but that's exactly what we were looking for - not too loud and calm atmosphere. Our server (Joanne's daughter) made our visit so pleasant and she was very friendly with all of the tables. We didn't wait long for our food and they were attentive even with the amount of things happening at once. Speaking of the food, the bolognese was the best I've ever gotten at a restaurant. It was exactly what I had been craving - those meatballs in particular were delicious! The portions were good and we had leftovers to take home. We'll definitely be back! Joanne's Table is an Italian restaurant that opened in Fairfield, Connecticut in May 2023. It was founded by Joanne Monroe. The space was previously home to Liana's Trattoria for over 20 years. Joanne was a longtime employee at the Neapolitan-style trattoria. When owner Liana DiMeglio decided to close her restaurant, Joanne decided to make it her own. The menu, which has been carefully curated by Chef James Agoglia (who also previously worked at Liana's), features a variety of different Italian comfort dishes. Monroe's daughters Asher and Cassidy can also be found helping out around the restaurant. I recently dined at Joanne's Table for an exclusive tasting event. Joanne was nice enough to invite me and a select group of local foodies to sample some of her menu items as well as ones that have yet to be added to the menu. It must be noted that the restaurant only has three or four parking spots in front, but additional parking is available on the nearby streets. For the appetizer course, we were all treated to "Zucchini Rollatini" (thin sliced hand rolled with a special egg batter and herbs, stuffed with asiago cheese, served over marinara sauce), "Wild Mushroom Crostini" (herbed goat cheese, poached pears), "Pan-Seared Tuna" (seared with black pepper and coriander, served with cara cara oranges, grapefruit, fennel, crispy chickpeas over lemon aioli) and "Homemade Meatballs" (all-beef, with whipped ricotta). Everything was so delicious! I especially liked the meatballs which simply melted in my mouth. For the entree course, we were treated to "Branzino" (seared filet, served with sautéed Campari tomatoes, olives, with garlic broccoli rabe) and "Chicken Parmigiano" (breaded chicken breast, topped with homemade marinara and baked with house-made fresh mozzarella served with a side of linguine with oil & garlic). That was easily some of the best Chicken Parmigiano I've ever tasted! For dessert, we were treated to "Lemon Lava Cake" and "Chocolate Cake with Ganache". The former was my favorite! I had a fantastic experience at Joanne's Table and I look forward to returning with my family! read more

I drove an hour and fifteen minutes from NY to try this supposed hidden gem. We were told that the food options they are most known for were unavailable. However, those who came after us were being served those same dishes that we requested. They saved their most wanted dishes for the locals and those that were unknown were not allowed access to their specialties. There is no doubt that the food we did have was incredible. It is just a shame that we were told that they no longer had certain dishes when it was clearly not the case. Why would we go back only to be told the same since it was obvious the dishes were available to those they chose to serve? They also made a mistake on their bill and chased us down the street as if we were the ones that were responsible. Great food but awful experience and customer service. read more

We were longtime fans of Liana's Trattoria. We were saddened that Liana's closed but so happy that Joanne (who worked at Liana's) has taken over. Food is still excellent - gnocchi may even be better than the Liana's rendition. Generous portions, excellent drinks and - most of all - a warm, intimate and cozy atmosphere. Waitstaff knew every ingredient in each dish, which is really unusual nowadays (and very welcome when you are eating with people who are watching their ingredients, whether for allergies or otherwise). This review is in response to the one submitted by "Jimmy M" regarding Joanne's Table. FYI--Jimmy left out some "details," as we saw it. On that same night, my boyfriend and I were seated across from Jimmy and his party of four. In the "TWO HOURS [in which] THEY WERE NEVER SERVED ANY FOOD," his table enjoyed numerous drinks from the bar. For those two hours, we witnessed Jimmy and his table being LOUD and obnoxious, making us (and others) feel uncomfortable. Someone from that table spoke to the owner. She apologized and forgave the check due to the unfulfilled food order. Jimmy noted that the waitress was "rude and angry." What Jimmy didn't know was that she was upset after being mistreated and stiffed. He and friends stomped out without leaving a tip. That night, the restaurant happened to be short-staffed and were doing everything possible to satisfy customers' requests. All of the employees pitched in with any task required to run a restaurant. (Just watch "The Bear" on hulu, and you will understand what I mean). My boyfriend and I did wait some time for our food order, but both having worked in retail understood the pressure the staff was under on a busy Saturday night. We enjoyed our scallops, and chicken dishes, and were able to relax and enjoy our meals after Jimmy and his friends departed. We noticed that all other tables were having a fine and fun time. This is a family owned-and-run business, and they make you feel like family. We certainly will be back again in the near future, and hope that we never encounter any other "Jimmys" and haughty patrons....at ANY restaurant. PS. The lemon dessert cake was AMAZING! read more

We couldn't have been more excited to return to the former Liana's Trattoria, reinvented by Liana's longtime trusted employees Joanne and Chef James. The interior is warm and welcoming, as are Joannes beautiful, kind and attentive daughters, Asher and Cassidy. Long-time diners at this location will be thrilled to see the menu is largely based on Liana's tried and true fabulous recipes including gnocchi, branzino, chicken parm, veal Milanese and the famous paccheri in spicy Asiago sauce. The evening ended with the best tiramisu and the best coffee. The cocktails were delicious. As we looked around at other diners , everyone's expression was "Happy to be back" as kind words and hugs were exchanged . You will feel like family at Joanne's Table. We stopped in for an early dinner on a recent Friday night and sat at the bar (table for 2 which the server set up for us right away!). Great view into the working professional kitchen. What a lovely rebirth of a legacy and staple restaurant off the main drag (Lianas Trattoria). An amazing family restaurant embraces some of the old flavors and a whole lot of new flavor. The new Joann's Table doesn't disappoint. Great new traditional menu. I had a veal parm special that was delectable. My wife had perfectly cooked Branzino. dinner tonight was probably the worst I've had. the menu is limited so the only option that looked decent was the chicken parm. it was dry and had no flavor. it came with dried out linguini with oil and garlic and tasted like it was sitting under a heat lamp for 2 hours. it was crusty and hard. the waitress had a Zyn hanging off her front teeth and was not dressed professionall. I'm sorry but this place was total NO. for me and for my husband and 2 friends. Most expensive chicken parm priced at $35!!!!! so not worth it read more

If I could give this place no stars I would. We were regular patrons at Liana's so we were excited to try Joanne's Table. I'd love to tell you how the food was, but after showing up for our reservation on time, we waited TWO HOURS AND WERE NEVER SERVED ANY FOOD. When we asked about the hold up the server got angry and rude with us. We left without ever being served. I've never been treated so poorly before. It was insulting and embarrassing, especially because we took friends from out of town who were visiting there for a special dinner. All I could say to my friends afterwards was "I'm so sorry." Please, do yourself a favor and skip this place, or go on a REALLY slow night so you can be sure you'll actually get served your food. It was a disgrace. read more

Our midweek meal was as delicious as delicious can possibly be. Spinach and cheese stuffed chicken breast was moist and flavorful. The chicken parmesan was cooked in the traditional manner but was so much better than most. The surprise treat was the roasted Brussel Sprouts. We ordered them expecting them to be good, but they tasted so much better than good. The wine list is just the right size. Oh, and save room for dessert.
