Also tried the turkey mole (great for those that like the sweet dark red mole style) and blood sausage tlayuda. Huge portion I started during lunch and shared with a friend, and finished as leftovers for dinner when i got home. Bonus you can eat or have a cocktail from any of the other vendors in there. This place was pretty overhyped in my opinion. I took my Mexican boss here and he wasn't too impressed with the food either. To start, we had the guacamole which came with some chips. I thought the guacamole was solid, creamy, and had good heat. The chips that it came with weren't my favorite though. The texture was dry and there wasn't enough of them. My boss said the guacamole wasn't fresh too. For my main entree, I had the Tlayuda with the Tasajo (beef) meat and it was decent. The tlayuda portion was huge. The tasajo came on the side and was not the biggest portion though. All the components came together separately so it was a bit confusing on how to eat the dish. The tortilla used for the tlayuda was a bit dry, but the filling was pretty solid. The meat was solid too, it just doesn't stand out. You definitely need the side sauce it comes with and the guacamole to add to this dish or otherwise it's kind of a bland on its own. Not sure if I would get this again to be honest. read more

This spot was inside the Maydan Market in the Adams District and they seemed pretty popular while I was there. I kept things simple and ordered the guacamole and Tlayuda chips. They're basically flat Oaxacan tortillas and fried to perfection. Very crispy. Very good. The guacamole with onion, chile Serrano and lime all came together to make a delicious piece of art inside a cute heart shaped bowl. I will definitely come back to try more items on their menu. I got a tlayuda with moronga (black pudding sausage) and tasajo (skirt steak). I really enjoyed it. The most distinctive thing was that it was clear flavor-wise that everything was cooked over a live fire. Everything had a nice little smoke to it (not too much, but definitely noticeable). The sausage and the steak were also both highly flavored. And then it is also served with a native Oaxacan legume called a guaje (kind of like a long string bean). Which was neat (although there really isn't too much to it). The whole Maydan market itself is very cool (with a whole Middle Eastern vibe). Yes, it is a little expensive, but the whole experience (flavor, surroundings) makes it worth it. I got there at 11am on a Sunday (which is what time it says it opens on weekends) but when I asked, they said they start taking orders at 8am on the weekends. read more

This place is more of a cute look than actually good food... at least for what I ordered anyways. I had the Tasajo Quesadilla and it was wayyyy more tortilla than it was meat, which is crazy considering the prices. The chorizo was good, but again not worth the pricing. We also ordered a side of corn for the table, it was tasteless and not much flavor to it. Overall the experience was underwhelming. Fine dining and mall food court had a baby and it's Mayden. Lugya'h is in Mayden. This was lunch. Nothing says they they close for dinner prep at 2. They reopen at 5 for dinner service. Ambiance It's beautiful. Very Moroccan vibe. The details are outstanding on ambiance. The details in silverware and plates is just beautiful. The copper hood over the grill is gorgeous. Service- the lady at the register where we ordered was nice but not that helpful, ok. The restaurant is new October just opened so they're probably working out the kinks. No servers or anyone asking if the food was good but this at 230pm when employees were leaving. Food- Taco de boda. Has salsa inside and is spicy. It has pork, the pork was ok. Not fancy. I would prefer the sauce on the outside for some reason and with some cheese on top to balance the acidity of the salsa/chile. Memelas- I had the one with moronga (blood sausage). My friend ordered Tasajo (pork) but received Chorizo. He then ordered tasajo on the side after but they gave him carne asada. He says he wished the portion was larger For the price point. He like the wood smoke on the meat he ordered but the chorizo on the memela was like a 1/2 an ounce. I know it's rich but at least pack on more beans or something. The items are individually sold. The tortilla/ masa was great but the blood sausage actually lacked salt for my taste (and I don't cook with much salt) but it was tasty. The salsa /chile is served in a clay heart type of ramekin. I am Mexicana and we have ALOT of Oaxacan restaurants out here in West Adams area and sadly I just wasn't impressed and my dish wasn't that flavorful. It felt like they were taking oaxacan food from Mexico that's workers' style food and trying to sell it as if it's fancy. It's missing pizazz. BUT there's potential and they've only been open a month. It did though feel really clean. Not heavy. Another plus the environment is conducive to meeting and chatting with strangers! That's a big plus. My friend wasn't a fan of the salsa chile but liked the meat and ambiance. He liked the chile in the clay heart. Price point high but likely due to location. It's just really confusing. At first I thought it was a food court style but they can't seem to execute the concept well. It's a counter type of restaurant meaning counter service but it's confusing. Where do you order? How many different restaurants? How do you Instead of giving elevated workers' style food, they are giving workers' style food at elevated prices. Nobody at the door to explain how this place operates. We saw 4-6 people walk out because they werent attended to. What's confusing is you Order by QR code but do they bring the order to you? No. Nobody told us we get a text when the food is ready. Then you pick up. The menu is limited. Would I return? Maybe for tortillas and maybe for the small pizza place in the corner. read more

Lunch at Lugya'h was one of those meals that immediately transports you somewhere else. Two of the three people at our table had never had a tlayuda or a memela before, and by the end of lunch they were completely hooked. One of them is now actively trying to figure out where to find proper Oaxacan food back home in Colorado, which honestly tells you everything you need to know. I've been fortunate enough to have both in Oaxaca, and the flavors here genuinely took me back. The purple corn tlayudas were spot on, layered with deep, earthy flavor and that perfect texture that's hard to replicate. The moronga was rich, flavorful, juicy, and beautifully balanced. The only thing missing was someone walking out with a jícara full of mezcal to properly round out the experience. Had that happened, I may have started looking at flights to Oaxaca before the end of meal. I will definitely be back! read more

Came to Maydan Market for dinner with some girlfriends and the market is a super cool concept. I ordered the Tlayuda with Carne Asada and also ordered a side of chips and guacamole. I have a dairy allergy so they removed the lard and cheese (which I'm not sure how much that affected the flavor), but while the food was good I thought it was quite bland and lacking a bit of flavor. Outside of the food, customer service was top tier and the market venue aesthetic is super cute with lots of seating. Despite the seating this place gets PACKED on the weekends and it's a bit confusing if you're a first timer. Unless you have a resy at the back restaurant it's all open seating and you order at each individual restaurant in the market and then grab your seat after. I'd definitely come back and try Lugya'h again along with the other spots in the venue. You can try and scrap for street parking, but they do also have valet. Bon appetite neighbors! read more

As we know, Lugya'h is inside of Maydan Market. It's somewhat loud in there...FYI but there are plenty of seats if you get there early. First of all, I myself like many other people was confused on how to order, where to order, where to get my food...etc. That was a bit annoying. I got there at 4pm on a Saturday, only to find out that Lugya'h was closed and they were reopening at 5pm. Annoying x2..... When 5pm came, I ordered and was disappointed with the fact that I couldn't order a memela because that is only part of the lunch menu. Annoying x3 that is why I'm uploading pictures of the menu!! I ended up ordering a tlayuda and a drink. Parking......parking!!!!! Parking is a nightmare lol if you go on a weekend, there's no nearby parking. You will have to walk 2-3 blocks. Or just take an Uber. The restrooms there are extremely small which is also pretty annoying. Would I go back??? Probably not in a long time. I was pretty disappointed and the tlayuda was decent. A traditional street taco will always have my heart so take this review with some bias. I think the tacos were great, palpable, and filling. However, they're missing that touch. I haven't had Oaxaca cousins before so maybe these tacos are just different. Huge cons are parking of the place. And ordering is so confusing. The location is in a food hall. I visited Maydan Market yesterday for a tasting at Lugya'h, and it was a flawless 10/10 experience. Every plate was stunningly presented, and the flavors matched the aesthetics. The steak was incredibly tender and paired perfectly with the tortilla, chili sauce, beans, and romaine lettuce. We stayed a little longer, and we tried their famous Tlayuda, which is highly recommended! The service was exceptional. The timing between courses was spot on, giving me plenty of time to savor each dish without feeling rushed. I also stopped by Compass Rose for a Tahini Colada and a Casa Lager. Both were refreshing and served as the perfect appetite suppressants well, the opposite, they really opened up my palate! The atmosphere at the market is very welcoming and intimate, making it an ideal spot for a date night. I hate to leave this 3 star review for this restaurant that could be one of my favorites one day. As a lover of Oaxacan cuisine, I have to say this is the most authentic Oaxacan food I have had that was close to what you have in Oaxaca. We got two tacos, one Empanada and one quesadilla for two people, sepnd over $70 (no drinks no desert no appetizer) and came out hungry that we had to go grab something to eat elsewhere. The portions are very small for the price. $14 a taco dish should have had at least two of them. The empanada was precisely exact same thing as the quesadilla we had except the ingredients inside were different. Empanadas should be closed all around. Nothing on the side of each dish, serving it on a paper and charging $15-20 a dish is extremely high. That is how much dishes are at higher end seat down restaurants like Mirate. . Making everything on open wood fire and a real comal males this place one to shine but they need to work on their concept. Ps it sucks not serving Tlayudas on their lunch menu when they have all the ingredients right there. I was quiet pissed to try Poncho's new concept at the Maydan Market but not being able to eat their Tlayudas. read more

Stopped by Lugya'h this Saturday night. Best choice I made. The tlayuda's are very delicious, you don't have to jump on a plane. You get a taste of Oaxaca here in LA. Although they were busy their service was great fast and on point. The ambiance is dope, great music,good looking place, and clean. My family and friends had alot of fun here.
