Easy and comfort bakery for Hong Kong style milk tea and delicious bread. If you buy 6 buns, tax is free. Staff is always kind and efficient. Inside of store is very clean and they have patio too!

This is our favourite local Hong Kong style bakery / cafe. They have a wide selection of sweet and savoury Chinese baked buns, cakes, and dim sum. They also offer frozen dim sum and rice dinners to take home. This is our favourite weekend hangout spot with their made-to-order Hong king style milk tea, their fresh egg tarts and pineapple buns. It is a bit on the pricey side compared to other Chinese bakeries, but it is on par with typical cafe prices. I recommend this unique cafe spot to try if you want something a little different than your typical coffee shop!

A month ago, I returned to the GTA from my trip to the Twin Cities and drove over to North York to pick up ingredients for a virtual cooking session. Next to The Abibiman Project's popup store was Lucullus Bakery. Since I had landed om GTA and drove over here, I decided to grab some goodies for dinner and beyond from this bakery. I was parked right in front of the bakery on Yonge Street, facing south. I used my Green P app to pay for parking. It was so convenient. It was my first time at any Lucullus Bakery. Markham has two locations close to my home. Why haven't I been to one?! It works like a typical Chinese bakery. You pick up a tray and tongs, find something you like, grab it with the tongs, and place it on your tray. I looked longingly at the sticky rice wrapped in lotus leaves. Next to them were curry beef and crab meat fried buns. I got one of each. They had a bunch of croissants. The chocolate, and cheddar and bacon ones appealed to me. I got one of each. See a pattern? I got a cheese and hot dog bun, and a beef burger bun. Everything looked so good. Yep, I also got one of each. This place has quite the assortment of egg custard tarts. I'll need to return. I was thinking more savoury items for dinner and beyond. l completely overlooked them. Next time, I'll get some. The woman behind the counter was helpful and nice. I paid with a debit card. It was seamless. She placed everything in small bags, and then added them to a larger one. I thanked her and drove home after a long travel day. I was so happy to get home and eat. I had the chocolate croissant and crab meat bun for dinner. The croissant was flaky. The chocolate croissant had chocolate, but I wanted more of it. The crab meat bun had imitation crab meat, but you do get a lot of it. I liked the roasted seaweed strand around the bun. It was as if you were eating a large piece of sushi, but without the rice. The filling was yummy. I devoured the cheddar and bacon croissant, and cheese and hot dog buns the next day. The former was the perfect handheld breakfast. I loved every bite. I heated it up in the toaster oven. I highly recommend it. The cheese and hot dog bun was comforting. It had the right balance of sliced hot dogs with cheese. It was excellent. My favourite buns out of the batch were the curry beef fried bun and beef burger bun. The former had a lot of curry beef filling. It was so good. I'm salivating thinking about it. The beef burger bun had sesame seeds all around the outside and a ton of flavourful beef filling inside. It was like an Asian version of a burger, but in a filled bun. Yum! I am a fan. I really should visit a Lucullus closer to home, thanks to visiting this store. It was a great find and I had a terrific experience here. I'd definitely return to get my fix when I'm in the area. Egg tarts and HK milk tea

Great newer location for Lucullus! They have the same great items here as other locations, although their dim sum selection is a bit more limited. If you've had stuff from their other locations, you'll have the same experience here. If you haven't tried before, I definitely recommend stopping by for Chinese baked goods! Their milk tea is lovely, their large iced size comes in a comically tall cup. It's less bitter than other versions of HK milk tea you may encounter (I personally enjoy the butter versions) but it really satisfies your HK milk tea cravings. This location also has outdoor and indoor seating, perfect for kicking back and relaxing on a summer day.

OMG that pork bun was soooo good! The bun was melt-in-your-mouth soft and the pork filling was bbq-tasty. Came fresh out of the oven so that may have played a part in it, but wow that was good. Also got an egg tart, a coconut-filled bun, and a napoleon bar (I think; it was nutty) - all ok but not outstanding. So while everything else was just ok, I'll definitely dream about that pork bun.

Red Bean Pineapple Bun (BLB)

Lucullus Bakery: 4.3/5 Food: 4.75/5 - I was having a walk with my boyfriend and stumbled across Lucullus on Yonge St. We have to take a look, because I am a SUCKER for pineapple buns. I was so happy that I found this hidden gem, and apparently our friends later told us that it's one of the best bakeries in GTA to get bo lo bao (aka pineapple bun). Please see the descriptions of the bun we got to try below. - Red Bean Pineapple Bo Lo Bao (BLB) [GET]: Their BLB is loaded with fillings, definitely didn't skimp on the ingredients. The red bean filling has the perfect sweetness and texture, and you can see actual red beans in it. I just wished that it was more evenly spread across the entire bun, instead of a huge chunk sitting right in the middle of the bun. At one point, I was just eating the filings, and had to use a butter knife to spread it to the edges of the bun. The bread itself is soft and light with an insanely flaky crust. It just crumbles right off. Also, I love how pillowy and fluffy it is, literally inhaled that bun so quickly. It was great, and I think it will taste even better if I try it fresh out of the oven. Ambiance: 4.25/5 - Lucullus is like your typical Chinese bakery, but with an elevated interior. It is modern, clean, and very spacious. There's trays and tongs available right at the entrance for you to grab the bakery items you want and put it on the tray. You will then pay at the register. There's also lots of pre-made drinks in the refrigerator for purchase. I do recall there's some outdoor patio seating available as well. The overall layout was organized and self-explanatory. Price: 4.25/5 - We got one pineapple bun to try. It was almost $3 after tax. Prices are a bit higher than most grocery stores or Chinatown, but you can see the high quality and fresh ingredients they put into the bun. I'd say it's worth it, and definitely try it out when you get a chance. Service: 4/5 - The service was friendly and prompt, and the staff greeted us when we walk in. After selecting our BLB, we paid at the cash register with our credit cards, so the process was pretty seamless, literally tap and go. The staff then sealed up the plastic bag and handed it to us. I just wished that they provided us with a bag or something, because we carried the BLB back in a sealed plastic bag, but oh well. BLUF: I think Lucullus is one of the better bakery spots in GTA that serves authentic HK style pineapple bun. It is really delicious and tasty, but I didn't think it was the BEST one I've had ever, but in Toronto probably. I highly recommend trying them out if you haven't, and you can't go wrong with any of the pineapple buns. I look forward to my next visit and try their other BLB flavors, croissants, and other savory pastries like the curry buns.

Tried the Hk milk tea Iced . It was very smooth and tasted like HK! It was $5 and huge. We got 30 percent sugar and it was too strong for us . Prob next time will get 50-75% sugar . The large sized was more like XXL and we couldn't finish it so likely will get small the next time

Hong Kong-style milk tea is utterly bland, it's nothing but drinking watery milk. Maybe the tea very expensive, one pot of tea use a day and add water, and add water and so on. You must come to have a HK milk tea before 1 pm , must not come after 4pm, after 4 pm, you only have watery milk.

I finally got a chance to stop by this newly opened Lucullus near North York Center. They closed the downtown Elm location a couple of years ago and I've been craving the chicken mushroom lunch combo since. I ordered a large yang yuan coffee milk tea only this time, as I only had 10 minutes to spare before my appointment. The coffee milk tea was made fresh. Seating was allowed at this location. There were a few two seaters lined up against the windows and one booth seating that can accommodate groups of four - six people. The cafe was SPOTLESS and fully stocked.

3.5/5!! Pretty delicious buns! The buns taste very fresh. My favourite is the ubi bun. There was a lot of ubi flling inside which I love! Some things that I noticed is... It does get quite busy. You might have to wait longer than expected. I waited in line over 10 minutes before getting swrved. Also, I wasn't huge fan of all the buns exposed in the air. I don't feel like it's very sanitary. I've been to other bakeries and they clear wrapped all of the buns before placing them on the display. Overall, decent buns but just be aware of the wait time. I might go during the weekday instead to avoid the crowd.

Finally Lucullus Bakery opens in North York! I have been waiting forever! The place is so nice, modern, and clean. There are some tables inside and patio with cute yellow umbrella. We love to get the Custard Bo Lo Bao, Coconut Bo Lo Bao, Ham Sui Gok, and Egg Tarts. Their bread is loaded with fillings. Ain't skimping about the quality of ingridients. The custard pineapple bun is my personal favourite since who doesn't like custard?!?! The outer layer is flaky, sweet, and the custard has the perfect sweetness. I'd say Lucullus is the BEST HK Bakery in Toronto. It transports you to Hong Kong, so authentic. The price is reasonable for what you get. I have been here for more than 3 times now since they opened! The HK Milk tea is also really good!! Follow @astravel_eats for more recs!

This Lucullus Bakery is definitely a little more expensive than other Lucullus in Toronto. But this Lucullus FINALLY take credit card! The store is nice, modern, and spotless. This was a refreshing evolution! I adore their walnut dessert with cane sugar and tapioca ($7). It is pre-made and kept in the fridge section of the store. I highly recommend Lucullus for Asian dessert.

A nice Chinese style bakery with a large variety of items in addition to Chinese buns like egg salad and tuna sandwiches, lotus leaf rice, tarts, croissants, and a large beverage menu. They also do chicken rice pots if you want a more hearty meal. I only came to try the buns. Arrived at the end of the day so some of the trays were already almost empty, but the buns still tasted fresh when I ate them at home. Also had a few the next couple of days for breakfast and they were still soft and delicious! If you get 6 items, you don't pay tax! My favorite was the BBQ pork bun. Very flavorful pork that doesn't heavily rely on a lot of that sweet red sauce for flavor. It's very generous amount of filling with notable chunks of pork and some onion. Other buns I got: deep fried curry, egg tarts, and butter croissants

Overall I liked the food here, generally the portions were bigger than I expected for every dish,…read moreand it justifies the higher than usual price per dish. Items that I got this visit: - har gow shrimp dumplings: overall pretty good, but the wrapper was a bit thicker than I expected. Would prefer a thinning dumpling wrapper - chicken feet: excellent, very tender and flavor was great - tofu skin wrap in abalone sauce: pretty good, the meat inside was lean and well balanced with the veggies - spare ribs in black bean sauce: this was a bit of a disappointment. The ribs were a bit tough and also underseasoned. It could have used some more salt and some extra cook time. Service was fine, nothing special. The restaurant overall was pretty nice and modern. I hope to come back sometime and try some other dishes.

Food 4/5 Service 4/5…read moreAmbiance 4/5 Food: I came here for a lunar New Year lunch with some co-workers. They chose the menu which was a combo deal. There were so many dishes I started losing track. LOL. I also don't know all the names of the dishes as I didn't see the menu. One of the dishes was a fried lobster. They showed the lobster to us (poor lobster) before cooking it. The lobster tasted really good but I'm not used to handling lobster in its shell. LOL. There was a pumpkin soup which I couldn't eat since it had dairy in it. Another dish was a Peking duck with rice paper wraps, cucumber & green onions. This was my favourite dish. Delicious, yummy & simple to eat. Another dish was chicken (I didn't taste that one). We also had a fried rice which was so yummy. Then there was a dish with scallops, oysters, pork & seaweed surrounding it. I tried the scallops & they were delicious. There was another duck dish but this time the duck was chopped into little pieces with some Dessert was a yogurt / jelly type of thing which I can't eat due to my dairy intolerance. Service was really great. I'm not sure if that's because I was at a table full of Chinese people though. LOL. The dishes came quickly & they just kept coming! We had tiny plates to eat from so after the lobster we got clean plates. For the fried rice we had the servers separate it into bowls for everyone. Since we couldn't finish all the food we had them wrap up the leftovers & we took it back with us. Myself & another co-worker split up the leftovers between us since no one else wanted it. Ambiance: The restaurant had some nice lunar new year decorations up. It was pretty. Located inside the Atrium on the Bay this is an easy location to get to. The location was the site of a former restaurant called Spring Rolls. It still looks the same the only thing that changed were the tables & chairs. The washrooms are downstairs in the lowest level of the restaurant. It was hard for me to get down there because my knees are really stiff & painful. It would've been nice if they had a handicap washroom on the main level. The food was delicious & service was attentive. I thought the special lunar new year meal we chose was too much food for six people. I would've been happy with dim sum. Also the washrooms being in the basement was an inconvenience for me. Those who are mobility challenged will have the same issue.

Good spot for standard dim sum…read more We came here on a midweek lunch and waited a few minutes before getting seated. They have a pretty standard selection for dim sum, using a paper and pencil to mark selections. The service was also quite quick and efficient. They will charge you for tea service (per person) and tip was already included in the bill at the end, so double check before you pay. It was bright and also slightly higher in noise level but to be expected. Some of the dishes were a bit too salty for my preference (like the pan fried beef ribs, great but a slightly more salty than I'd prefer) but the egg tart was nice - not too sweet but still eggy and light.

The chive cake was perfectly crispy and great on its own. The soup dumpling was really more of a wonton soup to us but there were plenty of wontons and the broth was great. A really great place for dim sum!

When they provided with a table it was right next to an exterior door, with people going in and out. The was a cold draft, we even had to tell the hostess/manager, if they could provide a divider to divert the draft from hitting our table. We ordered 9 dim sum dishes, one be Roasted Pig Mixed Cold Jellyfish, which was $23.80. I had the idea that it would be a fair portion. When it came, I was shocked, it was only 6 pieces of Roasted Pig. When I spoke with the manager about the portion size, he commented "for that price it is fair". There was not apologies and walked away, nor was it written on the menu. If I had known it was only 6 pieces (size of your index and middle finger put together). I would not have ordered it. If you want to have Roasted Pig, you can get better deals else where. Also, ordered Marinated Chicken Feet for $13.98, when it came to table, it was also a disappointment, part of the chicken feet was dark in colour, not even sure if it was even edible or not. Another dim sum dish that I have order was the steamed chicken with fish maw. The chicken was okay, but there was only two small pieces of fish maw, (the size of each piece was 1/2 inch by 1/2 inch). The order 6 dim sum dishes that was order was mediocre, tasted better from other Dim Sum restaurant. When I received the bill for the meal it came out to be $119.50, they even had included the tip. They didn't even give me an option weather a tip was even worthy. I will definitely not be returning to this place. I definitely do not recommend anyone to come to this restaurant. I would consider blacklisting this restaurant. It's simply deceiving customers.

The individual New Century slow boiled soup is hardest to share but secure some empty bowls and you can divide the hefty portion. In the winter, there's a silkiness to the piping hot consommé that sooths a dry throat and has an umami essence infused with abalone, ginseng, and pork. There's plenty to choose from in the house signature combo platter including roasted duck, soy sauce chicken, BBQ pork, pork slices, and seaweed salad. Saving my stomach for the later dishes, I had a taste of the duck (a good start with crispy skin) and BBQ pork (satisfactory and well flavoured). With the generous portion of chicken in the combo platter, the slow cooked chicken with abalone broth seemed like overkill. I've never been a huge fan of this dish that's served cold since I prefer chicken hot. Still, I understand it's the jelly layer between the skin and meat that people enjoy. And to be fair, the chicken was tender, and New Century certainly didn't skimp on the ginger and scallion oil. For those who tend to fill-up before the "main dishes", the stars of the combo arrive mid-meal. The stir-fried Vancouver crabs with silver fish in HK style spicy sauce needs to be eaten at arrival as the crunchy coating is best straight from the fryer. And despite not looking spicy, the dish has a light heat that permeates in the background. Additionally, the crab was fresh and meaty, cooked well so it remained delicately flakey. The amount of sweet and sticky sauce used in the stir-fried lobsters with scallion in Maggie sauce was well balanced, lightly covering the crustaceans. Both lobsters were substantial; even after eating many pieces, we still had plenty of leftovers. This is a long review head to Gastro World for the rest.
