I was a little hesitant about going here because of so many negative reviews. They must be a hit or miss kind of place and it was a hit for me. The wait was about 20 minutes. We sat at the bar and had a drink. Only issue with that is they didn't go to the bar to call your name so if you don't check on it, you may miss it. I had the chicken masala and it was delicious. The chicken was cooked perfectly. The mushrooms and sauce had a great flavor. My brocolli was bland so I had to add salt and pepper. My other side was an angel hair pasta with an olive oil, tomato, and basil sauce. It was great! The restaurant was clean and had the perfect amount of lighting for a date. The bathrooms needed a mid day cleaning. They weren't awful, just needed a sweep and some tp refills. I went here for a special birthday dinner because my visits in past years had been wonderful. But tonight the opposite - the hostess seemed utterly unconcerned with doing her job in a timely manner, & repeatedly abandoned her station for several minutes without even acknowledging the line of waiting customers with a "be with you shortly". Once seated, it was 20 minutes before a waitress appeared to take our order and 45 before any food was on the table. My aunt's food didn't even come out with the rest of ours because their system somehow lost her order, and even though the waitress implied her steak would be comped because of the delay, she was only offered a free dessert when the bill actually came. Several steaks we ordered were not prepared as requested, but we didn't want to have to wait even longer to just be able to eat after waiting an hour for our entrees (the dining areas were 50-60% full, not "busy"). I just heard that the bartender was recently fired (found this info on another review) stating that he was amazing, etc etc. He was not & commend Luckys for this. Over the summer my husband & I stopped in to enjoy a cocktail & were treated poorly, After waiting 20 minutes at the filthy bar, we were acknowledged by his snarky & negative attitude, we left. We were never asked for our drink order. He was not overwhelmed as the restaurant was nearly empty & the servers were pouring their own drinks. They had 3 hosts that could have cleared the bar for him. He was only working with 2/3rds of the normal bar seating as the remaining 1/3rd was filled with piles of dirty dishes. I think the asparagus could be retouched by the head chef to make a better and less greasy consistency. And more liberal seasoning to the steak would do justice considering the grilling. This place does not take reservations. They do try to do call aHead seating, but they don't ever pick up the phone so I would not rely on it. Even when they say they're not going to be busy expect them to be busy. There's always a wait. They have their own parking. It's a convenient location. People are pretty friendly and it's bright and shiny in there, the portions of food are big. Really big. There's considered a steakhouse but honestly, the steak is only OK. When I like best are the sides the starters the bread everything else company the actual food is actually really good. Definitely worth a return trip. read more

Went there for our 51st anniversary on a Saturday early evening. Was seated right away. Service was top notch food was served in a timely manner thanks to Dan. Even though there was a wedding party of about 30. It was noisy only because the drinks were doing their job for the wedding party and they deserve to party. Potato soup was good, no complaints. The bread was good. Quality of waitstaff we had was not great. Seemed like we were bugging her, she didn't wait for us to answer "how was it" before she was on her way. Maybe she was busier than we could tell. It didn't seem too busy, 4:30p on Friday. This seems to be a popular spot in the area. I sat at the bar and the bartender was clearly having a bad night. I ordered the crab and shrimp stuffed grouper with side salad and roasted Brussels sprouts. I forgot to take a picture but it was a huge portion. I skipped the bread but it did look very good. The food was fresh and perfectly prepared. The prices are excellent and I would expect to pay twice as much for the same food. I will definitely be back. The atmosphere is relaxing and not too loud. My husband, son and I went to this establishment at 8:10pm. Waited at the host stand for 10 min to be greeted by the host. Multiple servers made eye contact with us and ignored us. Another server walked right past us without saying a word. Finally my husband had to get the attention of the server for some assistance. He said he would get the host for us. Shortly after a woman came up and said she was the general manager and that she couldn't sit us because she had a 30 minute wait. Mind you there was no other people in the lobby. The woman was very rude and not to mention she walked up with a glass of wine in hand. I hope she reads this and knows how distasteful she was and completely unprofessional. A word of advice lady, put a sign out if you're not going to greet customers and let them know you stop serving 45 minutes before closing. No need to lie about a 30 minute wait when nobody was there. We went to the Okemos Lucky's restaurant today. We were told it was a 20 minute wait when we arrived. We waited for an hour and 20 minutes and still we getting the same story. We have been to other Lucky's locations and have never had an experience like this! There we empty tables! We had a terrible experience the weekend of February 7th, 2026. We were treated rudely and the manager told me that I did not need to bother contacting the owner since they don't really care and would never answer me. Well, I emailed the owner/manager at these two email addresses that this prompt won't let me print here. That was a month ago. In that letter, I detailed the way we were treated and the outcome. I heard nothing. We will not be going to anything that these people own any longer. How hard would it have been to simply answer the email? I would be happy to share details if needed. She finally came over after we had requested her presence a second time and said "how dare you demand my presence on a busy Friday night". Delicious bread, that's about it! My family and I came to try this place out and put our name on the waiting list. In total we waited about 30 minutes. Was it worth it? You decide... We got seated and ordered a Combo Appetizer Platter and Steak Cut Calamari to share. For myself, I ordered their Espresso Martini and the Big Ribeye. How was it all? - Combo Appetizer Platter: This could be considered a meal on its own. It consisted of baby back ribs, buffalo tenders (our choice), loaded cheese fries, and steak cut onion rings. I only tried the buffalo tenders and a few of the fries, they were decent. - Steak Cut Calamari: The calamari sat in a caper lemon butter sauce which was OK. Flash fried so it wasn't too crunchy. Not bad. - Big Ribeye: This hefty 22oz. steak came with a caesar salad (my choice) and potato au gratin (my choice). The steak was disappointing, it wasn't seasoned well and was over salted. It was cooked medium rare as I had requested, so it was juicy. The salad was OK as well as the potato au gratin. - Espresso Martini: This did not look or taste like the ones I'm used to getting. This came out looking and tasting like straight Kahlua and had a sugar rim to it. I definitely don't recommend this. Honestly my favorite part of the meal was the complimentary bread & butter they give. So freaking good and addicting. You can get a few more on the house before they start charging you for it. The bartender asked us to push the dishes to the end of the bar - help her clear the dishes. This is wrong and gross. The manager was there and things have gotten worse under her management. Sat down to order dinner and was immediately and extremely rudely chastised by the bartender over where we sat. They were open seats and were never sat while we were there. I finally asked if he was the person who took our order and he rudely replied there were six others ahead of us-- totally untrue. We got up to leave. I asked for a manager and told her this bartender has been extremely rude to us both times we were there and we were leaving. What a disappointing dining experience to celebrate my husband's birthday. We thought this might be a classy place, but the restaurant has gone downhill since we were here last. My main complaints: 1) The host who seated us was wearing dirty pants. Not a welcoming sight. 2) We were seated at a table/booth that was still dirty, and we had to ask the server to clean it. 3) The menus we were given were also dirty and sticky. 4) A different server brought our main entrees, and we had to inform her that we were never served our soup and salad. 5) The salad arrived AFTER the entree. Server admitted that it was her fault. 6) Server stopped by and made excuses for the soup not being ready. Soup arrived halfway through the main course. 7) I asked for a takeout container, and that arrived 15 minutes later. 8) Lastly, the food overall was very disappointing. I ordered the Prime Time and my husband ordered the Prime Rib and Lobster. The mashed potatoes were cold, and the mozzarella cheese had already turned cold on top of my prime rib. The food and service here used to be fantastic. Not anymore. I contemplated talking to a manager, but we didn't see one walking around and didn't want to ask our server to get one. read more

I only have had good experiences! The food is always fresh and quality. I typically get Prime Rib. The price seems reasonable for what you are getting. The waitstaff is professional and put together. I'm not a fan of the hightop tables by the bar, but it usually doesn't take long to get the next available table or booth of you are willing to wait. The dining room can be a bit noisy during mealtimes. If you want to have a lengthy stay, I recommend going after the typical dining hour. Ps. They have really good ranch dressing! read more

Today was our 26th Wedding Anniversary, and unfortunately, we selected your restaurant to celebrate. My wife was born and raised in the Lansing area and I am a happy recent transplant to the region having lived and worked here for over 30 years. We had been to your establishment last April of this year and quite happy with the service on that visit. Unfortunately, we thought we would return to your restaurant hopefully to enjoy and celebrate our wedding union of 26 years. Your food was terrible, the steak was full of fat, and the service...was, quite frankly, terrible. The waiter was not interested in helping our experience...special in the least. His back-up waiter had to do most of the heavy lifting...delivering the meals to our table and making sure we had everything in order to enjoy our "special" meal together. The steaks were so fatty and grizzly that we couldn't cut through the steaks with the knives provided. The service was, I dare I say, so far sub-par as every request made to the waiter was clearly greeted as an inconvenience to him, and he fully showed this with his constant dismissive behavior. His "dis-service" was so bad that it made me and my wife feel like we should not even be in the restaurant at all, but should instead obtain our food at the "back door" of the restaurant, tragically, much like we had suddenly been transported to the 1950's and we were not to be served inside of the restaurant. I am very disappointed with your waiter's callous and rude behavior, and openly reported this to your staff of hostesses as I exited the restaurant. The lead hostess told the other hostesses that there was nothing that could be done as the food service had ended and wished us a happy evening as we exited. I am asking you( as management) to "do better than this" as you have made our special day very unhappy. I told your lead hostess that "we will never return", and we will not do so to give you yet another chance to disappoint and make any of our other special days so darn "unspecial"!!! read more

Looking for places for a birthday dinner on the way back to MSU I selected this place as there were many choices on the menu and the prices were quite reasonable. I regret not going for the place on the other side of the road, Joe's on Jolly, instead. Lucky's seemed quite popular and busy but we only had to wait 15 minutes for a table since we came after the dinner rush. The server was hardworking and did his best. He apologized for taking so long to get our salads out. He said a chef had walked out. I don't know if that was a factor but our meals were mediocre at best. We've never seen filet mignon that looked like this. If it was actually filet it was the cheapest cut they could find though I'm doubtful was actually part of the tenderloin at all. My New York strip was tough and not a pleasure to eat at all. I only ate half, saving the other half for use as a door stop. Out of the four dishes (filet mignon, filet medallions, prime rib, NY strip) nobody was satisfied with their meal. It's highly unlikely we'll ever be back here but if I do I will definitely not order steak which is ironic considering it's a steakhouse. read more
