Fried Chicken Dinner. Sides: Macaroni and Cheese and Dressing
    Erica G.

I actually wanted to rate the restaurant a 3.5. Anyway, I've had a couple of people that live in Lansing, tell me over the past few months that I should try Gregory's. So I was pumped out when I returned back to Lansing to visit friends a few week ago. I ordered the chicken wing dinner, with macaroni and cheese and dressing on the side, with a corn muffin. The chicken wings were good, and seasoned. I like my chicken fried a little harder than the chicken I had, but I could've requested that. For the sides, I really didn't care too much for the macaroni and cheese, it tasted bland in my opinion. And the dressing was dry. I ordered carried out, and I will say the I did like the restaurant inside, it was spacious and it seemed cool for a dining in experience one day. I would try Gregory's again whenever I'm back in Lansing to check out other menu items.

Terrible food, terrible service, slow and rude. Would not recommend to anyone and will never go back. Bunch of angry lazy workers in there.

Update: I am sorry…read moreto update everyone that Travis left EnVie. The new bartender leaves so much to be desired. Pretentious bartender who really really wants to be known for being a mixologist. Don't you dare ask to modify any of his ingenious cocktail creations. I've been to many many bars in my lifetime. Nice bars, hole in the walls, distilleries, hotel bars, outdoor bars, cute little trailer-wedding bars, speakeasies. You get my point. My standards are high but i'm down wherever too. this is the first time anyone has refused to modify a drink for me. and i'm not talking about changing everything. i'm talking about swapping out mezcal for gin (there are barely any gin cocktails anymore). i've been here three or four times since the new bartender-- and i don't even sit at the bar anymore. the only redeeming quality of the place is the chef(s?) who I feel really takes care of people and makes the food with love and care and excellence. the burgers and steak are literal perfection. Le sigh. Travis if you're reading this-- Mike and I miss you!! Management, please try to get him back! Give him a fat raise! anything! your restaurant is going downhill quickly because 1) Travis is gone 2) Inflexible pretentious guy took his place.

The restaurant is quaint but with sufficient seating to accommodate both small and medium sized groups. There is ample parking as it is located in a downtown district. The decor is simple modern, nice clean lines every where you look. Our waitress, along with those assisting her with food and drink were abundantly pleasant and welcoming. At one point the waitress prepared to offer me and my dining companions the drink specials and I jokingly asked her if she would "freestyle them" while I beatboxed. She admitted she was horrible but was down to try! We were both horrible but the exchange was fantastic and very personable! We appreciated her and her service throughout our evening. All of the cocktails we selected were well made with high quality liquors, no complaints there! The food. The food, the food was superb! We all enjoy the presentation of our dishes, beautiful and simple! Everything tasted well balanced and flavorful served in perfect portions. Our only complaint here was the pasta in the Cacio e Pepe. It was a little heavy and thick in texture but the flavors and the lump crab made up for it! The gluten free cake was shared by the table and enough for all to feel just the tiniest bit gluttonous! I look forward to returning to Envie to check out more of their menu and perhaps be able to have the same waitress.

The service was better than any other establishment in recent memory, possibly ever in my life. Lily was our server and was amazing. Drinks, appetizers, entrees and desert quality was so far above expectation (i mean, this is lansing after all, not New York or Chicago) that my wife and i were extremely impressed. As a Retired Navy veteran ive been all over the world, 37 countries actually, and Capital Prime is easily top 10 meals ever, possibly top 5. What wonderful decor, ambiance, attitudes, service, quality. Cant say enough about how much we enjoyed our anniversary dinner last night. A side note about some other reviews: Wow, reading some of these less-than-stellar reviews made me laugh a little. One was a disheveled un showered couple with a dog, feeling discriminated against because of her disability, had to include they are both MDs like that makes them better and thus entitled to be dirty and smelly with a filthy animal around a fine dining atmosphere. 1-star rating because these disgusting people expect the world to bow to their disabled war veteran doctor ass thinks common decency doesn't apply to them. I can hear her now, karen ass war vet yelling about how its illegal to refuse a service dog entry, on a packed night, people trying to enjoy their meal with dirty vagabonds and their stench. Disgusting. Another reviewer gave three stars after being seated in a room with his group that is reserved for parties, not as elegantly dressed as other areas of the restaurant. He must be so fancy.

So of course, I had to check it out. When I got there, I met the owners, who are actually brother and sister! The brother is the chef, and the sister was working the counter. She was so friendly and helped me decide what to order. Now, I went in craving spaghetti. I know what you're thinking this isn't an Italian restaurant! They serve soul food and breakfast all day. But then I saw the spaghetti and fish combo, and if you know, you know! I asked the sister, "How's the spaghetti?" She smiled and confidently said, "Everything is good!" That confidence sold me, so I ordered it. I also asked if they could turn my side of fried fish into a fish sandwich with cheese, and for a small upcharge, they made it happen without any problem. Y'all... that spaghetti was THAT spaghetti! The kind you get at a family repass or after a funeral the comforting, homemade, seasoned-to-perfection spaghetti that just hits different. If you know, you know! It was an easy 10/10. And don't sleep on the fried fish either! It was crispy, flavorful, and cooked just right. Matter of fact... I loved that spaghetti so much, I drove back two weeks later just to order another plate of it! Hank's definitely knows what they're doing. If you're looking for authentic soul food in Lansing, this spot deserves a visit. If you're a soul food lover, Hank's Cuisine is definitely worth checking out!

Our party of four were served the food in phases rather than everyone's plate coming at once. I'd consider the service slow since we waited a bit 10 minutes (?) to order. Had the seafood soup which was fine but the bread I asked to be served with it was cold, dry slices of a French baguette. The salad someone else from our party ordered had a nice serving of beef on it and looked tasty. The beef stroganoff another person ordered was overly seasoned to me as I was given a taste and beef wasn't very tender. Overall food is fine. Place is nice with some outside seating.
