    Outside, no Lucky's logo

Lucky's is a small doughnut spot that shares space with 49th Parallel Coffee. You can order both items at the register. Outside sign is for 49th Parallel, you have to go inside to see Lucky's. Good amount of seating outside and inside. Street parking, metered. Very busy before noon, even on a Friday. Line moved decently. Decent selection of doughnuts, they had my two favorites. Sprinkles - $3.50 - Doughy fluffy sprinkle doughnut, not the dense version. Ton of sprinkles on top! Vanilla Glazed Old Fashioned - $3 - Fried perfectly, great crisp and bite. Vanilla glaze was not super duper sweet.

I'm not quite use to a fancy place for a donut shop. Well, it's not too fancy, but they have an outdoor seating area for you to enjoy your coffee and donut. I don't know many places that does that for a donut shop. It's a pretty good location for people watching. For the donuts, they have a good variety of speciality donuts. They are more of the cake-like texture. There's a small wait line for the donuts, but the line goes pretty fast. I enjoyed my donut the Mulberry old fashion. Other donuts look a bit too sweet for me, so I went with the Mulberry. It has a good tartiness to it, but not to overwhelming. The raspberry cheesecake bismarck was surprising not too sweet with a little tangy flavor as well. Although I prefer my donuts to be more doughy, this place wasn't too bad. It's a cute spot overall.

Very delicious donuts. Its like a special treats here. I actually like their donuts more than say Timmy's and other places around town. Lucky's doughnuts is connected to or part of Parallel 49 coffee shop. Its great to grab a donut and at the same time sit and have a coffee. Some of their pretty good donuts (with some pretty interesting flavors too) like the creme brulee and matcha. But it really depends on the time you go as well. Their donut flavor changes and is different every time I go. Well there are some common ones that they have like cinnamon fritters or bacon maple etc. Pretty good donuts.

Strawberry old fashioned ... craggy and crunchy in the best way for a donut. Not in an old hippie way.

So I heard that there were 2 good doughnut spots in Vancouver and Lucky's was attached to my other must do of 49th Parallel Coffee. One thing I've learned about trying doughnuts... their shelf life is pretty miserably short. So when we got here, we made sure it was early as possible and on a busy day. Saturday morning was perfect for it. Stepping into the beautiful 49th Parallel Coffee, you're soon in front of this amazing case of glazed, frosted, and filled of doughnuts. Ever feel like you're stunned into silence because the choice is so vast... you might have a relapse here. We were confronted with at least 12 options and all looking so fresh. If you were like me and here for the possible one time, ask the staff for the most popular or flavourful or (insert your favourite flavour ever) to help you decide. They're quite nice here and ready to give you some help to decide. I do like how Lucky's have cake doughnuts in addition to the yeast ones. Im partial to the fluffy pillow like yeast ones that are just filled with something custardy or jammy. Rarely do I get a good one lately but Lucky's surprised me. I also loved how they had seasonal offerings that go with the freshest fruit available. This would keep me coming back to just see the newest flavours and tastes available. Just a note about taking it away... if you only order one, it's most likely they'll put it on a bag for you and if it has icing, it's going to be a big sticky mess. The Lemon meringue will be in a box but you may need to ask for your icing ones in a box too. The old fashioned in a bag should be fine. Blueberry lavender iced yeast doughnut with Earl Grey filling - Just visually this was the one that grabbed my attention! The amazing vivid deep violet was just so shiny and the doughnut was just puffed up as if stuffed with a lot of good stuff (spoiler... it was). Seeing how the sides of the doughnut was a nice deep caramel colour, I was just thinking this might be better than anything I've had in Toronto. Confirmed... I havent found a stuffed doughnut filled with so much rich custardy goodness like this. The doughnut was light and fluffy with the glaze adding just enough berry sweetness to lift it out of the plain boring bread flavour. The custard was just so luscious with just the right amount tea flavour. I didnt taste the citrus of a traditional earl grey but definitely tea. 4/5 Strawberry glazed old fashioned - I normally dont like cake doughnuts but this one is really good. With the right amount of crags to give that crispy crunchy edges and just bring more of the berry glaze into every nook and cranny, this was one of the better cake doughnuts I've had in a long time. Since we bought this early in the day, the cake interior was still moist and the exterior having the nice crunch... nothing dried out. The strawberry flavour was a true to the fruit flavour and not sweet. If anything, it had that right amount of tart and sweetness of the true fruit. Visually, the pink was cute too. 4/5 Go early in the day to avoid the stale or dried out doughnuts and you'll be well rewarded with one of the better doughnuts I've had in Canada. Definitely try their yeast stuffed flavours as this was so generous ... I havent seen one like this in Toronto. Lucky Vancouver!

We needed sustenance while waiting for Lululemon to open. This place was packed. They have 49th Parallel coffee to pair with your morning doughnuts/pastries. Pistachio Almond Croissant: Croissant with pistachio and almond paste that you can taste and see...not just a hint but a taste. 5/5 Salted Caramel Doughnut: Old fashioned doughnut dipped in caramel sprinkled with Maldona salt. Simple but perfect! 5/5 Cheese Danish: After tasting the awesome pistachio croissant and salted caramel doughnut, this was a bit of a letdown. Dip it in your cup of coffee to make it more interesting. 3/5 Morning Breakfast Brioche: Brioche with pepperoni and cheese inside. As much as I'd like to have sweets, I need something savory in the morning and this fits the bill. Light and fluffy brioche, smokey peppery salty pepperoni and soft creamy cheese. 4/5 Ham and Cheese Croissant: The basic. 3/5 We tried the latte and mocha which were hot and delicious.

Been here before and maybe I was in a bad mood or something, cause I don't remember loving it - well today we loved it. One of the best donuts I've ever had (peanut butter and jelly) and good coffee too. The decor is very retro-like, or was it. Maybe it was just because of the turquoise colors!?!? I dunno. I do know that it was a great stop in for us today.

    Delicious donuts!

I ordered 6 of their yummy donuts and was not disappointed. I got the Chocolate Pistachio Ring, the Praline Bismark, the Apple Bacon Fritter, the Long John, the Peanut Butter and Jelly, and the Salted Caramel Old Fashioned. My favorites were the Chocolate Pistachio Ring (the cake donut and richness of the chocolate are excellent), the Apple Bacon Fritter (although it was a bit on the crispier side, the smokiness of the bacon pairs perfectly with the donut), and the Peanut Butter and Jelly (this reminded me so much of a pb&j sandwich - if you love those, you'll love this donut). Cute location and great staff as well. Definitely worth checking out if you're in the area and craving some delicious donuts.

Sourdough glazed donut. One of the best donuts I've ever had.
    Abigail S.

I had a transcendent moment with the sourdough glazed doughnut here today. I prefer the cake-style, but was influenced by the person ahead of me who went the sourdough route, and how glad I was for making the detour. Soft but not too dry, with glaze that had slightly soaked in to the pastry and a subtle tang of the sourdough at the end--seriously, one of the best doughnuts I've ever had in my life. Yes, the pleasure will run you $3.50, but for a rare treat, it was absolutely worth it. The line seemed to move briskly, even on a busy Sunday afternoon.

Matcha Bismark ($5 for coffee + doughnut) - 3 stars. Dry, not stretchy/soft. It was very hard to cut for sharing! Sun afternoon 2016-07-03
    Ziyan C.

Not sure what all the amazing reviews are all about! While our Matcha Bismark was definitely unique (I have never seen a green tea flavored one) and the flavor was good, texture-wise it definitely disappointed. It lacked that really soft, stretchy texture that other yeast doughnuts I've eaten have. In fact, it was pretty dry! We were trying to cut it in half to share and that was pretty hard. Maybe it wasn't fresh, but shouldn't that be the premium you pay for when going to a bakery? THE WAIT: The line went to their front door and it took just a few minutes to get to order. All the tables were crowded but after ordering, we were able to nab a small table for two by the window. The afternoon sun makes these spots really hot, though, so we moved to the couches by the front door. Not ideal with the lower coffee table, and the line basically right in front of you, but at least we were in the shade. THE COST: $5 for a coffee and doughnut. THE COFFEE: I got the cold brew, which was a bit acidic for my non-coffee-loving palate. A little bit of cream made it more digestible for me.

I love Luckys because every time I go in they have different artisan donuts available for purchase it's a mystery each time but there is always something for everyone my boyfriend loves lemon meringue pie and I found a lemon meringue donut for him this morning. I like more plain classic donut so when I saw the crème brûlée glazed and hardened on the outside I confirmed if there were there was cream in the middle of the guys said yes and it was a done deal. They served the lemon meringue donut in a box because of its sensitive meringue topping my crème brûlée donut came in a bag packaging due to its hardened exterior. Great outdoor patio that's covered in case it's raining.

    Parking Beware!
    Scott S.

Some really exciting flavours (example: root beer donuts, peanut butter & jelly) and the donuts look unconventional in a good way. Unfortunately, the dough in the donuts are just meh. If I were to come back it would just be for the coffees & teas. But there's so much foot traffic through the door that it is hardly a relaxing place so I likely won't be back. Remember to pay for parking before you go in the store! Lucky's has a sign posted out front warning: "Did you Park in the Lot? If so, please know that a Parking Enforcement Officer likes to hide in his car in the parking lot. You will likely get a ticket if you don't pay at the parking station".

Salted Caramel Doughnut, Lemon Poppy Seed and 49th Parallel coffee.
