Super yummy fried chicken!! The BEST EVER!!! When you walk up you can smell the goodness. Very busy and the service was on point. The staff got us seated right away and bought food out within a few mins even with a packed house. Super impressed! We got a 5 piece chicken basket and it fed 2 adults. We added on onion rings (AMAZING!) to share between 4 of us. And of course had to add in a black berry shake... wow!! The shake was thick, rich and delicious!!! A must have!! The fried chicken is absolutely amazing, I usually always get the "Pop," which is 5 pieces of chicken and split it with my grandpa. The fries could be crispier but overall they're pretty good too, the best part about eating here is the muffin we usually save till the end! A small pat of melted butter, and a drizzle of honey over it just makes it such a good end to a meal. Their milkshakes are some of the best I've ever had, and although I've never really had dessert here it looks pretty good. The prices seem pretty fair for the large amount of food you get, we've always just gone during dinner so I can't say anything about lunch time if the food or service is different. But we've always had excellent service and great food! It's definitely a place I always recommend to my out of town friends. read more

Not impressed. Wife and I went here expecting greatness. Disappointed! I asked the waitress what they were famous for and recommend it. Fried chicken of course. We got it, what, they have dwarf chickens? I never knew. Priced high for dry fried chicken. I saw people getting burgers and asked ourselves ... Ok so first things first.... I don't understand some of these reviews. Leaking roof in March? That's expected from a place that was built in the 50's, especially after a long Alaskan winter! Soggy fries? Not enough meat on the chicken? You have to give a restaurant more than one chance! Even places that i hate I will try at least three times. Anyways, on to the review.... I want to recommend this to ANYONE! I am very picky when it comes to my hamburgers and know a good one when I eat it. The same goes with the fried chicken, which I am use to because I am from the south. I got a simple cheesburger and a half order of fries. The fries were a little cold but whatever. The hamburger was amazing. The cheese was perfectly melted and it didn't drip all over the place. My boyfriend got a chicken sandwich with a half order of fries. Again the fries were slightly cold but he ate the chicken sandwich so fast he didn't care about the fries. He was very surprised that the sandwich filled him up. Both of my parents got the Mama 3 piece fried chicken (WHITE ONLY) and we all drooled over it! The chicken was lightly battered and there was not a touch of grease to be found. The chicken under the skin was moist and OH SO DELICIOUS! None of use had room for a shake, however, the people beside us both got a shake and we could hear them raving about them! So basically I say... GO. Give the Lucky Wishbone a try. It has been around since the 50s and the food has been also. It is AMAZING, the smell is amazing. The 'Bone' is a fixture in Anchorage. Known for their pan fried chicken (which is excellent) they also make some very yummy burgers (try their Jumbo Swiss Bacon). Although the Bone is on the expensive side the food usually always makes up for the ~$12 - $17 individual bill. The only sub-par item IMO are the fries. They are shoe-string fries much like McD's but greasier. Some people love them, while others don't. I like the bone. We always go here when my dad is in town and get the usual. This place is a little staple in our family, whenever we'd come to Anchorage we'd eat here for lunch or dinner. It reminds me of family and since it's a family restaurant I can see why. Their food is always good, we've never had a problem with the 20 plus years of coming here. I grew up in Anchorage and Lucky Wishbone was our go to for fried chicken. Having moved to the peninsula, we don't get the opportunity to dine at places like Lucky Wishbone often. My husband and I visited LW yesterday and were pleasantly surprised that the restaurant hasn't changed in 15 years. What did surprise us is the food. We ordered the pan fried chicken but it fell short of what we remember. The chicken lacked the seasoning and there wasn't much breading on the chicken. It wasn't the same food we had come to expect. The food was delicious but there was many fly's and also the service did not come to check on the table frequently. I was disappointed but the god made up for the lack of service. I had a salad that was incredible my other family members had burgers and a grilled cheese. Their food was good as well. I enjoyed my lunch here. I don't eat fried chicken, but it smelled lovely. I had a jumbo burger, which didn't look all that jumbo to me, but tasted wonderful. The fries are a separate order, but the half order was plenty for me. I didn't finish it. They didn't mind mixing flavors for me when it came time to order my malt, and the service was very, very good. My only complaint is that they don't seat incomplete parties. There were more than half the booths empty when I arrived, and I'm pretty doggoned pregnant. I had to stand there for ten minutes while my friend who was meeting me arrived and parked her car. That's easily the smallest chicken breast I've ever seen. I thought it was a thigh until I saw how tiny those were. Three of us who usually only eat one piece each finished off all eight pieces and were still hungry. The chicken itself was good, but not very moist. Definitely not worth the price.
