I could hear these guys gossiping about other trucks from the line, but much worse - the guy who's face is all over their instagram picked his nose right in front of everyone!! And then ATE IT!! I definitely watched to see if he was gonna wash his hands and he simply continued to work. Didnt even change gloves. Some poor lady recieved that booger slime sandwich. Gross. As far as the food goes, I waited for him to change gloves before I ordered (no he did not wash his hands between glove changes) - thank god the line was long and they weren't moving fast - the fries were soggy and lacked salt, seemingly just dipped in cheap truffle oil - panini sandwich was a greasy mess. Not sure if that guy is owner, staff, or management - but the city needs to retest him on basic sanitation. I expected better from a so called "veteran owned, best of philly". Wish I would have had my camera out for this one - probably would have went viral.

Unfortunately, the experience didn't live up to the reputation. We ordered Philly cheesesteaks, and while I was ready to taste something iconic, what I got was a black pepper overload. The seasoning completely overpowered the meat, which was disappointing. Even worse, the bread-to-meat ratio was way off. My roll was soggy, and no amount of mayonnaise or ketchup could save it. We also ordered onion rings and chicken tenders for our toddler. The onion rings were fried to the point of being rock hard. Not crispy, just tough. The chicken tenders were dry and flavorless. Our toddler ate some and said they were "good," but even she didn't want the leftovers the next day and neither did we. Hubby said to be fair, the staff was sweet and very accommodating, which we appreciated. However great service can't cover up subpar food. Sadly, High Steaks missed the mark for us, and in a city known for doing cheesesteaks right, that's a big letdown.
