The Lucky Supermarket on the corner of Hopyard and Los Positas is the most complete American market in the Tri-Valley. It's hard to compete with Safeway in this area with the Safeway corporate HQ in Pleasanton and a Safeway supermarket ever couple of miles. Lucky has closed stores in San Ramon and Danville only a few store left in the Tri-Valley. This is huge with a hot food and deli counter. Lots of check out stands but very few open . read more

My spouse works nearby and I've been in this store several times over the years. I was never very impressed other than by the larger size and more modern design than most Lucky's stores. Today however, solidified my never using this store again. No shopping carts anywhere near the door, not the biggest deal as I only needed a handful of items, but left wondering if they expected customers to scour the parking lots to find one? Inside the store no hand baskets anywhere to be seen, walked down each checkout stand and no baskets there either..!! Walked up to the manager station and saw who appeared to be a manager, she was having an open heated discussion with another employee, never even looked up towards myself or the elderly man in front of me standing in front of the counter. I walked through the store to grab my items in my arms and get out of there. Stopped at the Ice cream aisle And Dryers ice cream was $8 & change which is significantly more than what Safeway is typically selling it for! Skipped that, found small packets of pickles on the end cap, grabbed one, and went to the checkout. I asked the checkout woman, who can only be described as "sullen", where the hand baskets were, she tersely replied "we don't have any".. Then came the pickles, they wouldn't ring up, she hollered at a woman in the self checkout asking about the price, she hadn't even seen them before. My checker asked her to go look up the price, had to ask 4 times, had to describe how to go look up the price. Woman comes back, says there's no price on the display, ( which is already what I said) and she says "just charge $2.. (I'm not even sure that tiny packet is worth $2, but I just want out of there by now.).!! Checker barely looks up at me, as she slides my stuff down the counter, gives a 1/2 hearted "thanks".. So much more letdowns, more employees than customers, not one of them made eye contact, most were milling around looking like they were trying to find something to do.. (Which wasn't asking any customers if they needed help).!! I was relieved to be driving away, drove to San Ramon Safeway and bought all of the other stuff I needed, Dreyers Ice cream was $2 cheaper, I was so much happier at Safeway that I spent $120.00 there.!! read more

This is a review for their sushi counter. This Luckys is the only one in the area that has a sushi counter which is nice for us that are close by. The ones in San Ramon and Livermore don't have the fresh sushi chef counter. Their sushi is pretty good for a quick workday lunch. It is comparable to the Safeway sushi that is near me. I would get it again. Not high end but good for a more healthy lunch option. read more

I like going there because it's close to home but recently I like it less because their produce is terrible. Salad kits last no more than 1 to 2 days. Large bag of oranges were mushy and moldy after 2 days and I had to toss out 4 of them. Water mellons were mealy and no flavor. Very disappointing. read more

The best Lucky store i've ever seen. Unassuming from the outside. As soon as you enter, straight ahead, there is a hot food station. To your right there is a separate bar area. YES!! A bar! There is a sushi station and an entirely separate sandwich and chicken station. This store is giving Whole Foods vibes!! read more

I love that they have tables for you to enjoy the food right after you buy them . They have a big grilled in the back of the store . Desperate for school lunch stuff I came here this evening. It's always kind of messy here. The prices are outrageous. But the worst part of all for me tonight was the way that the person who was checking my groceries out had a wet filthy rag right on the conveyor belt where you're putting your food!!!! I had to lift up my food items and move them away from this disgusting filthy wet rag!!! Personally, I think the health department should come check things out here. They have a fresh sushi bar, and I noticed the people rolling sushi and then touching a filthy rag to clean up the counters. I don't get it. Are people not trained in food safety here??? it was so disgusting to watch them making sushi while touching the filthy rag no gloves nobody washing their hands The rag on the checkout counter really creeped me out, though I don't want my food, brushing up against a filthy dirty rag!!! Over time the quality at this store has gotten pretty atrocious. Produce in particular is now the worst in town, meat department is subpar as well. It's also the most expensive grocery store in Pleasanton that I'm aware of. Prices similar to Genes, but worse in every way. Avoid. read more

Bagger is a loose title for these employees. Saw a bottle of wine I was excited to open slam and fall off the belt. Followed by my onion, then garlic, then spinach! Employee tasked with bagging them watched this eagerly, as if it was a new episode of heated rivalry. Employees were under some influence that I wish was sold at this establishment. read more

This Lucky is the premier Lucky. A cashier told us that it was created as a flagship store, something that all the other Luckys could aspire to. It seriously has it all. Not just your usual made-to-order sandwich/deli counter and salad bar, but barbecue bar, fresh sushi, pizza, burrito bar, ramen, fried chicken, but also if you buy vegetables in the veggie section you can have them cut up for you. Besides all the ready to go hot (or cold) food areas and seating (and drinkery) you have an entire very nice grocery store that has it all - beautiful flowers, bakery, wine selection. Except it turns out, no pre-cooked bacon! Maybe I just couldn't find it but it is my new time saver when I have a Bacon Emergency and the San Juan Capistrano Vons has 4 brands. This is my favorite local Lucky. They remodeled in the past couple of years and the new flow is appreciated. I really like the hot food area. They have all kinds of food for lunch or dinner. I love to get a carne asada burrito bowl with everything. All the flavors are fresh and delicious. You can have them build a charcuterie board for you or even cut your fruits and vegetables. They will also custom make hummus. How cool is that? Staff is friendly and they usually have a good selection of items across the different categories. They also have a good deli with nice sandwiches. read more

I have to add an update on the Automated Robot Grocery Delivery, it is pretty amazing and AWESOME! We needed a few grocery items last week on a rainy day so we had the Robot deliver it for us! Ordering is done through the Starship App and you even get to pick a song that you'd like the Robot to play when it arrives! How cool is that!! The Robot arrived in a reasonable amount of time and we could track it via the App. Such an amazing and innovative way for contactless delivery! We walked in and boom! Beer and Wine! We technically could have gone here for dinner and been totally fine. Lots of featured local beers/wines (i.e., 21st Amendment, Altamont, Wente, etc.). Whoa. The new remodel makes this store look like its had a facelift. I stopped by with a couple of friends the other day and it looks like a totally different store. Before this store was drab and just like any other grocery store. The new version is spacious and welcoming. Whole Foods has some serious competition. It's divided into sections and there's even an eating area outside with a flat screen tv. Wait, what? I know I've had issues with customer service in the past. Prices are a bit high here but they were like that before they facelift. The shopping experience here is night and day compared to the old store though. Come check it out sometime. read more

This is great store, especially compare to what it was. There is so much selection and the hot food area is very complete from juicy brisket to Poke' to a burrito bar. Can't leave out the Hummus area! Instead of going into good prices and plenty of fish and meat selection (plus they can grill for you) I want to point out a seemingly absurd policy. I ordered a smoothie from a very nice lady and a custom burrito (Could not post up on the trifecta as there was no shrimp in sight) also from a stellar employee. I handed them both a few dollar tip and neither wanted to take it saying "it is against Lucky policy." WAT?!? What kind of dumbass policy would not allow a CUSTOMER to tip if they choose to do so for a combination of good food and excellent service? I left the money anyway and if either of them get in trouble from management, the manager can fire me. Someone please explain the logic behind this as it is annoying going into places that throw tip screens in front of you while paying for doing almost nothing in comparison to the effort these two woman put into making me a nice meal. Next time I might bring in the Cash Cannon just to prove a point. Reluctantly went in to quickly grab a few things and to drop off an Amazon return. Go to self checkout with my items and for some reason my card would not work. It kept getting an error message. The last time this happened the checker entered my card number into the machine and it worked. So I asked the lady managing the self checkout to see if she could do the same thing. She tried inserting my card and got the same error message. Then she tried swiping the card and got another error message. As she continued the same actions, I gradually watched her become more and more frustrated. I asked if she could enter the number on the card but she didn't seem to hear me and kept swiping several more times. Eventually she stopped and rudely put my card down and while muttering something, she just walked away without so much as an apology for not being able to help me. I was pretty blown away by her actions especially considering that I have seen her when I went into the store in the past and assumed she had worked there for a number of years. Certainly she had dealt with worse situations! I took my items to a manned register and the checker, after getting the same error messages, entered my card number into the register and I was able to purchase my things. As I was leaving, I walked past the lady managing the self checkout and her attention was fully directed on her phone and she was smiling and seemed completely oblivious to anything else going on around her. I guess whatever she was doing on her phone was more important than attending to her job. I wanted to post this as it's just another reason Lucky's will be a "last resort" stop for me if I ever need to go there again. Very unprofessional! I would expect more from a senior associate but at that moment, she seemed more like a junior associate and I would think cell phone use while on the clock is not something her supervisor would approve of. Then again, she probably is the shift manager which would explain a lot. Just saying. read more

My complaint is towards the front, regular checkout lanes just happened on Tuesday, June 20th, 2023 at 12:05 pm I must have shopped around for the whole 30 minutes, was ready to checkout when this lady, long brunette hair with glasses told me, "My lane is closed." Fine - but what I didn't appreciate was her chuckling (laughing) towards me which the customer she was helping, .. joined in. I've been going through some personal stuff, .. I don't need extra immature attitude coming from a grown woman. I back up, go to the next lane over (2 registers from the self checkout lanes), but the older, short, lady with short brunette hair's checkout lane is also closed because the light was off. Sure, I could have gone through the self checkout lanes, but I had some stuff (too much) to even try going through the self checkout lanes. FRUSTRATED!! I just randomly shoved my grocery cart down a random aisle and I walked out. I like THIS particular Lucky's for convenience since I live nearby, although checkout lane employees are currently "INCOMPETENT" as I type this up. I know there are still hard working, employees currently. I also like THIS particular Lucky's because comparing with one of your competitors (popular name brand grocery store) I find your Romaine Lettuces fresh, LOVE your new Sushi vendors, there are HARD WORKING employees working at other Depts at THIS Lucky's (i.e. Deli, Produce, Fish, Meat, floors, etc etc). I don't even know IF there was a Manager working on site as I type this, but IF your checkout lanes couldn't get their SH*T TOGETHER the STORE MANAGER is most likely INCOMPETENT too!! Lucky's Corporate needs to visit this Lucky's store 6155 W Las Positas Blvd, Pleasanton, CA 94566 and figure out what the HELL is going on with your regular checkout lanes because in my understanding your checkout lanes were ALL CLOSED besides the self checkout however the amount of stuff I had in my cart there was just NO WAY of going through one. I guess people will just start walking out of THIS Lucky's without paying because I KID YOU NOT = NO AVAILABLE CHECK OUT LANES ARE OPEN!! RIDICULOUS!! I guess I'm off having to drive across town to the next closets Lucky's. Such an INCONVIENCE. THIS = I NEVER EXPERIENCED at THIS Lucky's store before. Let me start off by saying the employees work their butts off here. This review is in no way about them. I went in to return an item. The store was swamped. It was around 5 on a Saturday the weekend prior to thanksgiving. 2 registers were open and the lines were huge. The poor woman at the first register was working so hard to get everyone through. She was calling for help but none came. Come to find out, the manager was there somewhere but not helping. I walked around looking for Mario, but he was long gone. I asked a worker where he was and they said they last saw him by the front doors. I assume Mario left after seeing the long lines. Shame on you Mario for abandoning your employees when they needed you most. A manager should immediately go help and avoid these situations. You're a terrible manager. read more

I went Luckys on Capital Expressway, I bought a birthday cake. It was dry and I requested cream cheese frosting and blue borders. I got a tasteless, whip cream frosting and red borders cake. Not satisfied. The best LUCKYS to buy a very good tasting, moist, get what you request, go to EL CERRITOS PLAZA. The ladies in that bakery make sure you are happy with your purchase!! It wastes my time and makes me hate shopping there when something I want is on digital coupon only. It's wrecking my whole attitude on this store. Makes me hate it. This store is notorious for price gouging! I typically visit this store 3 times a month, usually stop by on my way home for a few of items, buying a lot of the same items, every visit I notice the cost has gone up sometimes as high as a dollar! they used to have the prettiest, freshest looking produce, for some reason the lettuce is wilted, tomatoes aren't ripe and the melons are hard. The store is always clean and well stocked, the service is great but the constant price gouging is turning me off. read more

Since I live so close to this Lucky's I've tried to support the store but after my latest experience with the store and digital coupons I'm done. I purchased about 8 items at the self-checkout. The first product, a 12 pack of Diet Coke Zero rang up at $11.99 and did not go down to $4.99 after entering in my phone number. I looked around for help but there was no one. I then rang the rest of my items and when I was done tried to remove the 12 pack. I couldn't do it and since there was no one coming to help I paid. After paying I found a cashier and I was told it was my fault as it was a digital coupon requiring I purchase 3. Since it was my fault for not reading the fine print of each and every little sign carefully I let them keep the 12 pack I paid for as a parting gift from me. They DID try and offer me a refund before leaving but I just wanted to leave.... read more

This Lucky Store was recently remodeled and a Grand Opening was held a couple months ago.  It was in the local paper and local TV channels.  It was billed as their new Flagship line of stores - complete with various hot food stations for Pizza, Ramen, Sandwiches, Sushi and other casual foods.  Their is also a really modern and nice meat market with dry aged beef with an unusual feature - you purchase a large cut of beef and instruct them to age it a given length of time.  At that time, you can come and pick it up.  It has to be paid for by the customer before this procedure can be started. The store is huge!  The departments are very nicely stocked with very wide aisles and a very spacious feeling.  While it is still a Lucky supermarket, they have decorated it in an upgraded style and stocked with more than just the normal/regular inventory.  Think of it as their version of Whole Foods but with less expensive prices.  For sure, it is nothing like their standard supermarkets.  It's much nicer with more inventory and choice and feels like an upgraded property.  Produce, meats, deli and produce sections all look fresh stocked with high grade items. I would have rated it 5 stars except that many shelf markers missing so trying to determine price of things is not always easy to do.  And when the shelf marker is present, the unit of measure is not always clear.  For instance,  a tag above bags of oranges just says $1.58.  Is that per bag, per pound or what?  It's per lb. but it should be marked that way.  The same loose pricing info applies to prepackaged grapes and other things that can be easily prepacked at the store level. We recently stumbled across this Lucky Location. We are officially that couple that goes on dates at the grocery stores - lol. We hadn't been in this area in a while so when we pulled up we noticed the outdoor seating with TVs. We were puzzled for a second trying to figure out what was the adjacent restaurant. Spoiler - there isn't - it's their outdoor seating area. The inside - WOW. I am so impressed. It's clean, fully stocked rows and rows of items. The different stations for food was what I found amazing. That, along with the Beer Station. We specifically went there this past weekend for burgers. They were fresh and really good flavor. While at the meat counter, hubby was told he could ask for marinade and it was free. Who does that? Our date lasted about 45 mins and would have been longer if we could have gotten a pint but that part was not open until later in the afternoon. We will definitely come back. OH! Only thing I should mention - didn't affect me due to time we went to the store but they only have like 6 full service check out lanes. I can imagine it may get busy. read more

I went to this lucky store at W las positas in Pleasanton because I received a coupon for ground beef 2.99 ground beef a pound which seems a good deal.But when I check out and looks gave the coupon to the cashier, the cashier looks like she applied the coupon but actually not. I came back kindly ask her todouble check, she looks like it's not her fault and didn't say a single sorry. And she asked me to go to the meat department to ask them to re-tag the ground beef. So imagine that these supermarket ask a customer to go to different departments for a price change. eventually, I didn't buy the beef. And I will never go to lucky store again. read more

I have never had any sort of negative experience at this location before but yesterday's experience was jarring. My husband and I headed over to the store around 10 or 11AM yesterday, 04/07/2024. After we finished shopping we headed to checkout where an older gentleman was paying. The cashier was telling the man that he needed to stop taking his card out of the POS right away. He explained to her that when he put the card in, it continuously presented an error message. She leans over the counter and says, "Well look at your password, is your password that long?" The man quickly replies with a no. She proceeds to cancel the transaction on the POS and snatches his card out of the machine. When he reaches for his card, she holds up a finger and says, "Hold on for one second." At this point, he is staring at her- it's obvious he is incredibly frustrated/embarrassed. The transaction gets completed and he leaves. Once it was our turn to check-out, she continued her behavior and was rude toward my husband. She asked us if we knew the price of a pack of tortillas to which my husband said he didn't. She snarkily responded with, "Yeah, I didn't expect that you would." I noted that she did not have on a name tag but thankfully Sherri's name was printed on our receipt. It shouldn't surprise you that she had no name tag because she has likely received complaints before. I have worked with the public for 12 years- I could NEVER speak to an elder like that. I have already made a phone call to the corporate office and filed a formal complaint; I hope and pray the district does something with it. It's free to be kind. read more

The store carries a wide variety of items and even some you wouldn't expect to be in a Lucky store. 2 stars off because I've purchased a few items on different occasions that were close to, or were already expired up to even 8 months back. This store doesnt do the best job at filtering out items on the shelf that are ready to be thrown out. We've found that we need to check the expiration date on every item that we purchase here before putting it in our cart (canned food, sauces, granola bars, cereal, etc) 3 stars because the staff here is usually pretty nice and helpful! I definitely would rate this location a solid 4.5 stars if I could, being that the items are kept more up to date on the shelves. I'm sad that they no longer offer the little robots that bring your groceries to your front door! read more

This is third time in the last month, spending around $250 each time or more. They are all back to there ASSHOLE ATTITUDES again...... No one saying Hello, did you find everything etc.......npthing.
