This place used to be good, but not any more. Avoid. They charged me $18.95 for an Irish breakfast that was inedible. The sausages and black pudding and white pudding were deep fried and burned to a crisp, the eggs were runny and barely cooked, and when I complained about it they neither offered to make it right nor offered to take it off my bill. They also charged me extra for onions in the hash browns. If I could give it zero stars I would. read more

I got to the diner I frequent once a week, today 5/6/21 I arrived at 8:15 there was 1 other table being occupied I sit by the restrooms it was cold so I moved the other tables were dirty the waitress came cleaned the table took my order, another customer came and sits at the counter the waitress is watching the news and commenting her opinions and swearing while I see my food up on the counter waiting for her to get it - she walks around doesn't pay attention to my food, 7 minutes later I get my food its 8:35 my food and toast is Ice cold she never comes back to ask if everything is ok and if I needed anything else ! The food is always consistent and good I know it was not his fault he did his part she seems zoned out, not paying attention . Solid 3.5. Showed up and was let in and we picked a booth in the back. The waitress was late so we waited until she arrived. She came after we were there for about five minutes. I think this was about 15 minutes late but stuff happens so no biggie. She walked over and asked us if we knew what we want to order and we didn't have menus yet so waited a couple minutes to look through. My sister ordered eggs with ham and potatoes. I ordered a gyro omelette with potatoes and pancakes. My sister ordered a mini waffle and gave that to me to try. My omelette was big and delicious and the potatoes were amazing. I didn't particularly like the pancakes or the waffle. My sister liked her meal. All in all I am happy this place is in the neighborhood and I like their food. Our house was bombarded with menus from this place. Seriously, two menus on our front door, one on our side door and one on our back gate. We figured if they were that serious about distributing menus that we should give them a try. So glad we did! I had a corned beef hash skillet with a mini waffle. I ordered the eggs basted and they were cooked perfectly. Most of the time when I order basted eggs the yolks are completely hard, these were PERFECT. The mini waffles were yum, an excellent toast substitution. We were there with a table of 5 and everyone loved their breakfasts. This might be our new go-to spot! read more

Went today to my favorite diner. Not happy. Had eggs Florentine that were good. They only had lentil soup. They used to have two in-house soups every day. Now only one and it's supplied by the other location on Milwaukee Avenue, and reheated here. I also had coffee and a banana shake. I took a togo order for the better half. It consisted of a very over cooked chopped steak, mashed potatoes that tasted like boxed with bottled gravy, and flavorless yellow rice. I paid $31. and change for both meals. I believe I was screwed. The waitress was very nice as always. I think its time for me to find a new favorite diner. read more

We found this place by accident and we're glad we did!! I had a wrap that was really good and big enough that I didn't finish it! Outdoor sidewalk dining is small but if you can get a table it's still enjoyable! Our server was a young girl who was very friendly and attentive. Only problem I ever had was last week, While I was waiting to pay the cashier was questioning the bill of the person in front of me, stating that the waitress did not charge the customer for something. The waitress explained the confusion and all was correct. But I had to wait five minutes to pay because of her misunderstanding, then the bad credit card system. I honestly was really disappointed when we went some time back. The first time we went was wonderful and when we went to go in we didn't see the sign on the door that had changed hours until 3pm. We had gotten there around 2:30 and was told as we went to walk in, the door barely open that they were closed. No sorry no explanation just Were closed. The staff that my boyfriend and I saw were just standing at the counter talking and didn't seem pleased to see us. A simple hey sorry we changed hours would have been fine but nope just a We're closed and a very unpleasant look on her face. Big menu selection: probably about 30 different burgers/sandwiches in total, so it was kind of intimidating. They also have a decent looking breakfast selection and other dinners besides sandwiches. The amount of food you get for the price is pretty fair. I had the monte cristo deluxe, which means it was the sandwich + fries/onion rings/fruit + coleslaw + pickle spear + soup + a dinner roll. They give you a good amount of soup, too, probably a bit over a cup. The roll was a bit chewy, but really good. As for the sandwich, it was really good, though the turkey was a bit tough. My mom had the tuna salad in avocado, and she got a surprising amount of food. You get half an avocado + probably 1.5 cups of tuna salad, and then practically a small fruit salad (watermelon, honey dew, pear, peach, pineapple) and a scoop of cottage cheese and a little cup of jello, PLUS two slices of toast, PLUS soup. All that for just under 10 bucks. We took half home, there was just so much to eat. I'll definitely be returning to try more of their sandwiches or maybe something off their breakfast menu. read more

I've been here a couple times and the place isn't really anything special. I ordered mozzarella sticks a week ago due to a craving and they were just fried bread. The cheese was never there or fell out. I mean, it's a small restaurant and they weren't busy. The cook could fry up a couple of sticks an hour before close? This is a cute little place located right down the street from Resurrection Hospital -so, if you have been visiting medical facilities lately like I have (long story), and don't want to eat hospital food, this is a cute little place to get your breakfast or lunch on. I love diners. Lucky Grill is a nice and little local gem. Nothing from the outside really draws your eye to the restaurant so you would have to be specifically looking for a place to eat. It's not a bad looking place by any means though. You can park on the street or find a spot in the little private lot behind the restaurant. The inside is somewhat small: there are a few tables, booths, and little bar stool area. Pretty much any place with neon signs on the window is a winner in my book. The menu is surprisingly gigantic. There are pages and pages of various foods but the highlight (for me) is the breakfast menu. I've had several items and I've been satisfied every time. Classic items can be found, like a Denver omelet or bacon & eggs. If you want something different then why not try the chili omelet or latin skillet (which includes such ingredients like chorizo, jalapenos, etc). Want burgers, sandwiches, or gyros? Come over here and try 'em out then! This place has something for everyone at very reasonable prices. If I had to say an average price, I would say a meal would cost you ~$7.00. I love this place so much that I plan to have everything on the menu at least once. The staff is friendly, the atmosphere is cozy, and the food is great. read more

It's easy to pass by this greasy spoon (it's got a pretty nondescript storefront and is tucked away between a barber shop and a dance studio), but if you can find it and avoid the breakfast crowd, you'll find it's definitely worth stopping in. The atmosphere of the diner is very laid back and welcoming, though it's pretty small and I can imagine it must feel pretty claustrophobic when the breakfast crowd is swarming the place; we went at 630 on a Saturday, so we were the only ones there (and we still got fast, friendly service). The menu is huge and features an interesting mix of items for CRAZY cheap (most entrees were between 7-10 dollars and portions were quite large). Soups are made fresh every day, there are daily specials, and a pretty good selection of desserts. While the Lucky Grill seems to be, at heart, a traditional Irish breakfast-ery and features the usual fare-- black pudding & white pudding, corned beef, w/e else Irish people eat (...potatoes?)-- there are also some intriguing selections that I'll definitely try upon my return. Corned beef skillet? Done. Enormous breakfast combos? You got it. Pizza omelet? A-WHA?! You'd better believe I'ma try that. When my small group went, we tried some standard breakfast items, which were pretty well received. I got the Irish breakfast, which came with two black puddings, two white puddings, a hefty slab of Irish bacon, two eggs (any style), and toast. All of this was served upon a tasty bed of thick-cut hash browns and it all cost around $8. A friend of mine got a skillet of some sort which was similarly huge and apparently delicious. I'm excited to go back and try more, and perhaps even venture in to experience the breakfast rush. I frequent this place regularly it's always consistent food decent service. This rating is not a reflection of the food it's a reflection of the one waitress that should find another job. She's served us in the past and was bad very slow and seems like she hasn't a clue what she's doin. Gave her the benefit of the doubt she's new/young but unfortunately she's just plain useless we were served today and nothing has changed she hasn't a clue forgetful asks how's everything tasting despite only having a coffee we had to get from the bus boy because she obviously forgot. I've no doubt she forgot to put our order in it took up to an hr to get the food. Give me any other server they all do a good job but this one badserver would just ruin your day. Sorry lucky grill I always like your food and service but in the future if this useless server is working I'll be walking back out the door I'll find elsewhere read more

Now I ordered a skillet with sunny side up eggs and requested strawberry jelly. The eggs are hard and they gave me everything but strawberry jelly. The owner obviously could care less about service. Saying edible dog food is a disservice to what my dog eats. The only thing worse than overcharged food is sevice you get on the phone. Every delivery order is messed up and when you ask to get it fixed they refer you to Grubhub because the retards that work there rather put 18 ketchups with your order than get it right. The orange juice is the only thing that's worth getting here. Biscuits and Gravy frozen and with bag gravy and can sausage, skillets with cheese harder than talcott. Food here is about average. Their Irish sausages are good and unique for a local diner, everything else is mediocre, like club sandwiches, soups, meat and potatoes platters. The way to stand out when your food does not is with outstanding service. Unfortunately the food is better than the service. They recently shortened their hours from closing in the evening to closing at 3pm. When a customer walks in at 2:35 and you tell them you are already closed you have herby informed them you do not need their business. There are too many restaurants out there that appreciate my business to ever step foot in one again that does not. read more
