Lucky Express used to be my go-to restaurant when I lived in Boca. Excellent food and service for a take-out. However, I moved to Delray and found Chinese closer by. Today, however, I was excited because a doctor's appointment brought me close by to Lucky Express, and I knew when I made that appointment that I would be stopping by Lucky Express for my Chinese food lunch, as well as for my mother's and her aide's. Was I disappointed!!! First, when I got home I found that half of our lunch was not in the bag. They left out 2 orders of fried rice and extra crispy noodles which we asked for in lieu of drinks that came with the lunch specials. When I called to complain about the missing rice to our orders of shrimp and lobster sauce, there was nothing I could do except drive back there (1/2 hour round trip)! Got the hot and sour soup and general tso's chicken. I'm a huge afficianado of authentic chinese so I haven't eaten American chinese in years, but this place does it very well. The food was hot and very fresh, nice garlicky sauce, not too sweet and a little hint of spice. The hot and sour soup was a bit thick for my liking but is just a classic at chinese restaurants. Big portions, ate for two days off my order. When you order at the door, (who I assume is) the restaurant owners' son takes your order and he's such a good natured nice kid who does his job well, made me happy to see it. If I could give this place no stars I would. I went here Saturday for lunch with a co-worker called our order ahead. The lady who answered the phone wasn't rude, but was surely rushing us in placing the order. I got sesame chicken lunch special with a small wonton soup my coworker got a 6 piece fried chicken and egg roll. When we got there the order was just coming out which was awesome, but when my co worker pays for her food instead of the lady handing her the change in her hand in the same manner she paid she literally threw the change on the counter. When I paid for my food I signed the $11.09 recipet and we left. When we got back to work to eat the wonton soup was really good. The seasame chicken had a weird taste it didn't taste like any of the seasame chicken I get from other places and the sauce was really runny. The fried rice only had eggs in it no veggies,no bean sprouts, carrots not even onions. Not to mention it was about $7.50 and the portion size wasn't even worth it. On top of it all I got the worse upset stomach ever after I eating it as well as my co-worker. The next day I was looking at my bank account I realized they took out $13.31 out of my account, I guess they decided to take out their own tip. So I called up the following Monday to sort if out the same lady answers and I asked to speak to the manager she just kept asking for what when I told her she said they would get it corrected but I would have to come Tuesday since the manager wasn't there. When I mentioned to her I got sick after eating it she told me to schedule an appointment with my doctor to see what was wring with me. How rude by than I was done with her and hung up the phone. When I looked at my bank account later today I realized they corrected it, I guess they didn't have to wait for a manager. I won't ever return and would never recommend them!! read more

This used to be my go-to Chinese restaurant for almost 10 years, until they recently (within a year or two) came under new ownership. I could immediately taste the difference, It just hasn't been as good as it used to be. I stopped ordering from them for a while because my food was consistently not tasting good but decided to give them another try tonight to see if anything has changed or gotten better. I ordered the hunan beef dinner combo, my first bite I chewed up and literally spat out. My beef tasted like AMMONIA. Second piece of beef, same thing. Third and fourth piece of beef were okay, but I had to "investigating-ly" smell them before eating them. You could actually smell the difference. There is absolutely no reason why my food should taste like ammonia. I couldn't/didn't want to finish my meal. Between the ammonia taste and the cheapness of the food quality in general, I will never eat at lucky express again, unless the old owner/chef comes back. read more

Have been ordering from Lucky Express for 16 years. All of a sudden they won't deliver unless we spend $40. Girl on phone said we live too far into our development. I guess if I want delivery I'll have to buy a house closer to the entrance. Haha!! Btw food is just okay, nothing special. read more

Ordered the Dinner combo chicken and broccoli, wanton soup and egg drop soup. I would definitely recommend the soups, the fried rice and the egg roll. However, the noodles that they give you tasted stale and the chicken and broccoli were overly oily and had a lot of sauce despite asking for lite sauce. I tried Lucky Express based on some of the positive reviews, but I found the food to be as lacking as every other Chinese restaurant or take out place around. The egg roll was good, the rest of the food was mediocre. The fried chicken wing appetizer was bland and not appealing looking when you open the container. The house special chow fun had minimal protein ingredients and used medium size rather than wide noodles. It contained 2 small shrimp, 2 small pieces of pork and a few small pieces of chicken. It wasn't very special. There wasn't even enough sauce so the noodles stuck together in a clump, which I've never encountered anywhere else. The General Tso's chicken was tasty, but the portion was fairly small and the pork fried rice had no pork. It just seemed like they were cutting corners in a stingy kind of way. I don't see myself going back there. read more

Closest thing to NJ/NY Chinese food you'll get down here. Pretty damn good, prompt delivery, clean restaurant. Always friendly and courteous on the phone and in person. Wish they had shrimp toast but that's a rarity outside of the tri-state. read more

Good food. Awesome takeout, ready in less than 15 minutes. The owner is friendly. It's a family business that has been there for years. It's a small place not really meant for dining in as it is just a waiting area. My favorite is the beef or chicken chow fun and their steamed dumplings. Every now and then she'll add complimentary egg rolls, nice little bonus. I wish they delivered to me but I'm just not within their delivery zone. Had the worst experience. I went back to the restaurant with the food after being yelled at on the phone by a woman I assume was the owner. I tried to explain that the sesame chicken my husband ordered was very tough and the beef and broccoli I ordered was so salty I could not eat it. I even washed it off. I said all this calmly and politely and the woman kept screaming at me. I asked her not to yell at me since I was not yelling at her. I told her I came to her as a courtesy before dealing with the credit card company. She finally took my credit card and voided the sale and told her husband to get a machine out of the car. The entire time she was screaming at me until I finally got angry and demanded my card back.She wouldn't give me back my credit card. When her phone rang I went and got my card and left. I have never experienced anything like this and hope I never do again read more

LE used to be our go-to Chinese delivery at the office for over 12 years and I often would get delivery at the end of the day to take home - no more! The food here used to be 5-star good and inexpensive, but unfortunately I think there has been a change in ownership as the quality of the food has greatly deteriorated and it seems many recipes have changed (for the worse). Additionally the $12.00 lunch minimum has been bumped to $20 ($20!!!! at lunch??? really?!?) and they now also charge a delivery fee ($3.00). My sesame shrimp is gummy with thick half-raw breading (seemed a from-the-freezer product) and some sort of weak watery red sauce, whereas before, the breading was light and extremely crispy in a lovely dark, spicy, tangy sauce - if it was a frozen product it was very difficult to tell it wasn't fresh. Just one example of the changes, and would give no stars if I could. Definitely will cross LE off my list - how seriously disappointing. read more

Portions are large enough to share and owners/chef still ask about my daughter who moved out of town over five years ago. Super nice people. The give free egg roll with some orders so ask. If I could give them a zero I would. The service is terrible. I called to place an order after ordering from them a thousand times. I order from them at least twice a week for lunch along with work colleagues. We don't have a lot of delivery options in my area so I don't have a lot of options when I don't bring or pick up lunch. I usually just ignore the lack of customer service because I know that most Chinese restaurants lack the concept of customer service. I called in and requested that they remove the vein from the Fantail shrimp before cooking it because the last time I ordered it I could not eat it because the nasty black vein was right in the middle of the shrimp when I took a bite (looking like a big black booger). I was told by three people that they didn't know what a shrimp or a vein was. I was told they didn't speak good enough English to understand what I was saying. However, it's ironic that they understand the word shrimp when I am placing an order. I was transferred from the 1st person, to a 2nd, and then a 3rd. By the time I got the 3rd person, he told me that they were closed for the day. (Lmao). The reality is that I wasn't sure if removing the vein is something that they could or would do, but it was worth asking. I had a second order in mind if they couldn't do it. I pointed out how many times my colleagues and myself have patronized their establishment. It was obvious by the response that they didn't care. It was worse than bad customer service. These are not good people. They didn't care that I didn't want to eat shrimp boo boo! Lol! And the best solution that they could offer me was to tell me that the restaurant was closed for the day, right after they answered the phone to take my order. So my point is that the service is not service. It's a take it or leave it state of mind. I know most (not all) Chinese restaurants are strictly about the money and they do not care about people, service or the quality of food. But since the business is in America they need to adjust to our level of service. My entire company is no longer ordering from this restaurant and I would love to see them go out of business because they don't deserve to be in business.
