We had a wonderful lunch here…read more They weren't busy when we came in. Just a couple other tables were occupied. One room is the regular dining room, and the other is a huge sushi bar taking up the length of the restaurant. The restaurant is a Korean restaurant with Sushi and Dim Sum and a few other Chinese meals. The regular menu is large. Plus, if you are there during the week, ask for their lunch menu. My husband ordered their sushi bento box from the lunch menu. It came with a house salad with ginger dressing and miso soup to start. The salad was crisp, and he liked the ginger dressing. The miso soup was served hot and had pieces of tofu in it. The bento box had 5 pieces of sushi and a half hamachi roll (he could have also chosen a half tuna instead). He said the fish was very fresh and delicious. I started with an avocado salad -- from the main menu. It had a lot of slices of avocado on top of the lettuce with cucumbers and tomato. There was a vinegar-based dressing on top of the salad. It was good, but I preferred the ginger dressing which I got a bit of on the side. Then I ordered a few items from the Dim Sum section of the menu. I started with their turnip cake. It was perfectly cooked on the outside and soft and creamy inside. It's one of my favorites and usually if they do this one well, then all the others are good. I'd wanted to try their shrimp stuffed eggplant or the crispy shrimp with taro but they didn't have any of these in house. So I had their classic steamed crystal shrimp dumplings. I liked these as well. We had very good and friendly service throughout. We even got a taste of two of their kimchi's as a comp offering. There are a number of Korean dishes and combos with different soups and grilled meats and fishes that we'd like to try. I know we will be back here -- I'm hoping that it is sooner rather than later.

All the fish was very good and they use fresh yellowfin which is a big plus. I also had an appetizer of Korean pork dumplings which were simple and tasty. Unfortunately they didn't have Uni or any of the fish bellies. The chef said they couldn't buy them bc they're brand new and don't have the customers yet. Hopefully they'll speculate soon, bc people aren't going to be happy when they do show us and several top offerings are unavailable. I will definitely be back and I look forward to trying Korean entrees and dim sum soon. Ambience is nice and comfortable.

But 818 Fusion is good We came out Friday for dinner. It's an unassuming spot, in a strip mall in West Boca. The previous reviews most you can't go by as it's used to have a different and owner. It was actually mostly full when we arrived, but we still got a table. I already knew I wanted bimbimbap, but since the menu had other good looking items we tried a few things. 1st we got the fried pork dumplings. They were done perfectly. A little crispy but not over cooked. Next the roll we got was really good, put together solid. Then came the Bimbimbap. It far exceeded my expectations. A nice layer of crispy rice was bubbling as our waiter brought out the skillets. I got the pork but really I would have been fine with just vegetarian; maybe an extra egg. I didn't expect much from 818. But we are looking forward to going back. It's a pretty darn good spot.

I asked for less ice and less sweetness, and they failed to inform me that it costs an additional $1 for less ice. I have never heard of this happening before- I understand that you use more product, but you should inform the customer before you add that charge. My annoyance only grows as I left my drink for 15 minutes and the milk and matcha completely separated, please see the photo attached. Overall, the matcha itself was not good. It's very grainy and had no flavor. Additionally upon reviewing the menu, each "snow drink" comes with a foam topping which I was not asked about and not received. The ube taro smoothie's first sip was amazing, but every other sip tasted like ube flavored ice water. The actual boba pearls themself are taste great, but they stick together and I can't even get the drink or the boba up the straw. I wouldn't recommend coming here for the boba and I don't plan on coming back.

They also had Astro Boy playing on the bar TV! Astro Boy was also featured on their menu alongside Sailor Moon. The font and graphics on the menu gives manga. I wish I could rave about the food as much as the decor but unfortunately, it was pretty displeasing, to say the least. I had an order of the chicken Katsu Bao buns. I am a huge fan of dim sums and Bao buns (I typically don't eat the open-face ones) so this was very disappointing. The Katsu was so dry, overcooked, and chewy that it seemed like it was leftover, not fresh at all! I'll pass on Baos from here next time. The bobas were great though I got the matcha milk and my cohort got the Ube taro. They were delicious and bobalicious [they were not stingy with the boba] The cashier was very welcoming and our waitress was nice and attentive. The food alone would make this a one-star review but the boba and ambiance helped get it up to 4 stars. I recommend their Bobas, be cautious when ordering food.

The downside for us are the prices- $14 for five wings and $12 for a side salad, for example. I suppose all restaurants are expensive now, but I would consider this a special occasion place with those prices.

Had a scallop sashimi which tasted off, like it was just a day too old. I let them know about it and am thankful they took it off our bill, but didn't really appreciate the server's response who said everyone else had it and no complaints. Sorry, but no they did not have the same scallop. It's not like it came from the same fish. Finally, ordered an omakase that fell flat. I've ordered the omakase here before and thought it was a great deal but on this day what really ruined it was the rice. It was mushy and had too much vinegar. On top of that, I don't think the hamachi in the roll was at its freshest either. If I come back, I'll probably stick to happy hour and their cooked options.

There was only one other person in there when we were seated. I got the sesame chicken with a side of noodles instead of rice (the noodles are a $3 upcharge) and we also got the veggie delight. For the prices, the portion size is an actual joke. The sesame chicken with the noodles was $23! For 7 pieces of chicken! And the veggie delight....vegetables and rice....$17. The worst part is that the food is just not good. The chicken, again, very weird texturally and a $3 for noodles in soy sauce? I expected it to be mixed with veggies or something. The veggies in the veggie delight were hard and bland. We also ordered a strawberry Boba and the color was crazy red and strange looking. The kid we ordered it for wouldnt drink it because it tasted weird (and she has strawberry Boba all the time). For these three items we paid over $50. Laughable.
