I walked into Hunan City thinking I was ordering Chinese take-out, only to learn that it's actually an "Asian Fusion Grill with a Jamaican twist." A little confusing when you're standing there looking at a Chinese take-out menu, but whatever. We ordered Orange Chicken, Pork Chow Mein, Pan-Fried Dumplings, Crab Rangoons, and Boneless Ribs. The Orange Chicken was good. The Crab Rangoons were good, but they didn't include the dipping sauce, which seems like a basic thing to include, but things happen. I told the woman at the register that this was my first time there. She directed me to the take-out menus sitting on the counter. I placed my order, paid, and was told it would be ready in about 20 minutes. Something didn't sit right with me, so I looked at my receipt. I went back inside and compared it to the menu. Each item was $1 more than the price on the menu. I asked the same woman about the discrepancy and she said they "haven't made new menus yet." She then shrugged her shoulders and laughed. So apparently the new pricing is already in effect, but the old pricing is still being handed to customers, which is an interesting business model. I suggested that perhaps customers should be told the menus are outdated BEFORE placing their orders, or here's an idea, put up a little sign letting people know the prices have increased. Her response was that she was busy and they would get new menus made "at some point." I understand price increases, but what I don't understand is intentionally giving customers outdated menus, and charging them more, AND only explaining the price discrepancy IF they are asked about it. Meaning IF they are caught. Considering there are a quite a few 55+ senior communities in this area, this is especially concerning. Taking advantage of people, specifically seniors, is truly disgusting. Hunan City, you lost a first-time customer over a few dollars, not because prices went up, but because you apparently couldn't be bothered to tell your customers about it. There are other places nearby with better food, accurate menus, and a little thing called transparency. Hunan City, do better. read more

I'm usually a tad more skeptical with my South Floridian New York Chinese reviews, but Hunan City puts a nice twist with their rice and Wonton soup. They share the same virtual kitchen with Island Nyaminns, a Jamaican wishlist spot of mine as well. I feel that the chefs compliment each other in the background. The wonton soup is mixed up nicely with chopped green onions in a flavorful broth. This has some soul in it. The Mongolian beef did not disappoint... and the menu photos on entry introduce a nice array of future indulgences. On pickup, they were rightfully busy with 5 people waiting in line on a gray Friday. A telling sign! read more

STOP!!! DON'T ORDER! I ordered food over the phone and was told it would be ready in 25 minutes. I arrived 40 minutes later, and it still wasn't ready and had to wait another 20 minutes on top of that. When the food unwrapped at home, it was a total letdown. The presentation was not appealing at all. The food looked horrible,, the flavors were flat, and nothing was remotely enjoyable. One noodle dish looked like the cook had dumped a whole bottle of soy sauce into it, the noodles were pitch black and inedible. While waiting, I also noticed this place is serving Caribbean/Islander food alongside Chinese food. To me, that says it all: instead of focusing on doing one cuisine well, they're just throwing anything on the menu to make a buck. There's zero pride in the cooking here, and it shows. Most of what I ordered went straight into the trash because it was that bad. This was my first visit, and without question, it will be my last. Honestly, I have no idea how this place has managed to get five-star reviews, maybe from people who don't know what good American Chinese food actually tastes like. read more

I'm shocked by the reviews. I was driving by and decided to try the food. I got the chicken lettuce wraps & the pork vegetable fried rice. It was super good 5/5. Also the lady was super nice and kind while I waited. I ordered online and everything was ready in 25 mins. The restaurant is no frills but the food was fresh and delicious. It's Christmas night & we pre-ordered and pre-paid. Of course they were busy & running late. So we waited an extra 15 minutes & got all of our orders. The MoShu Pork was average. The PadThai was weak & the fried appetizer Plate with spare ribs fair. Overall nothing exciting nothing great. But if you're the only thing open on XMas then you take what you can get. However, this place can't compare to others like Lisa's kitchen when they are open. read more

By far THE best Asian fusion grill In Boca Raton I've ever had. The jerk chicken is so good and at an astoundingly low price on weekdays with the lunch special for just under $10! I was so disappointed, I order boneless ribs, half were overcooked and burnt. The bourbon chicken was definitely not bourbon it was some other sauce and it did not taste good. It was saturated in it. The spring rolls were soggy and still cold. This is the second time trying this place , the boneless ribs were good last time but the chicken lo mein was dry. I ordered the Roast Pork With Fresh Mushroom Combination Dinner comes with a choice of Hot & Sour , Wonton, or Egg Drop Soup and a choice of Brown Rice, White Rice, or Pork Fried Rice and an egg roll The wonton soup was small portion and didn't taste like Wonton soup.. The fried rice was also very good with diced carrots and pea. The roast pork was a nice portion with lots of pork and fresh mushrooms with a brown sauce, flavorful. My wife ordered the sweet and sour chicken Combination Dinner. It intrigued her because it had pineapple chunks. She thought it was just fair. read more

So disappointed! This local take out place was very good up until now. My order took almost 2 hours from when it was placed on line. I called after an hour and 15 minutes and was told it was on its way. 45 minutes later it arrived. It was cold, as expected. I ordered the pork and shiitake mushroom, they did not use shiitake, just plain white mushrooms. The flavors of that dish and the others were bland and did not provide the usual traditional Chinese flavor I was expecting. Even the fried rice was disappointing, even after reheating. One of the items I ordered leaked and the bottom of the box the order was delivered in was soaked with broth from my order. What a mess... Asked for extra hot mustard and chop sticks, this wasn't included , but I did get lots of little bags of soy sauce. Need to find a new Chinese delivery place... read more

About two years or almost 2 years ago ago I seen a post on Facebook talking about this restaurant and the video review that the customer posted I thought the customer was over exaggerating. I just had to go see for myself when I tell y'all the food was amazing. I ordered damn near half the menu. Everything I ordered was chef's kiss after that I've been there a few more times. But it's far from where I live yesterday I was craving it so I decided to go not only did this man add on a Jamaican cuisine menu, but he added GRIOT (Haitian fried pork). Then he mixed the Jamaican cuisine with the Asian cuisine and if you know Asian food was originated in Jamaica. And what I mean by that he has jerk lo mein jerk, fried rice, jerk, chicken, egg rolls, and all of that stuff there I'm telling y'all if my review leads you here in the food is nasty reach out to me. I promise you I'll pay for it. This is a black owned establishment and the owner is Jamaican. The customer service is immaculate. and I don't have any picture to post because I ate everything before I can take a picture. read more

Trued to order a few days ago and the girl answering the phone very nonchalantly borderline rude bcuz she is at work, told me they had 1 driver and he sId he not taking nomore for now. Did not say how long or even bother to quote me a time or close to it. Lowmein had too much garlic. Ordered tonight and not only did the saMe female give me attitide but food was cold. Shrimp eggroll had not 1 shrimp, eggfooyung was cold and the grave is not gravy its onion dip, the very liquidy one and it had a whole in an already super small container. Sent no soysauce after specifically giving them a number of how many. Sent 2 with dinners and an eggroll. I am now no longer a customer because i do not trust to order again because she gave me attitufe for addressing a bad order. read more

Well...it's Chinese takeout, not fine dining. However, compared to the other local Chinese takeouts, I was presently surprised. The food is generally well prepared and the portions large enough for left overs. It's a little on the pricey side, but not really out of line compared to the other options available. The food is awesome . This is my new wing spot as my family can't have enough of the wings. I love the general Tao, sweet and sour and Singapore Mei Fun noodles Just to name a few. This restaurant quality has diminished to very poor. At the beginning of the summer I ordered food, picked up the order and it was totally wrong and one dish was so spicy it was inedible! I called they told me they would not in in my file and give me an entree at next order. I ordered Monday since I have been away, of course they had no record of it.
