Butterfly Shrimp
Steve G.

3.5 stars. The people here are very nice, attentive service. The food is slightly better than average. Butterfly Shrimp appetizer weak, like what you'd see in the freezer section of Publix... sauce was good. Garlic Fried Rice was pretty good. Mainly came for a duck dish... we had the Southern Duck with Noodles described as Crispy Duck with yellow noodles, oriental greens, bean sprouts, garlic, peanut, scallions and cilantro. The noodles were good, duck is not crispy in any sense... was ok but can't compare to the excellent duck dishes I've reviewed over the past 2 months.

Our boat for 2 with a twist

Very disappointed, we've been coming here for years and years. But last night will be the last! The Quality has gone downhill, prices have gone up and the help has gone by the waist side. What a shame!!!

After trying to find a Disney princess dress at nearby Walmart for our daughter's "Dress Up Day" at summer camp, we were HANGRY! Yelp directed us to this sushi spot in a strip mall and it hit the spot! My wife ordered the sushi boat for one and my eight-year-old daughter and I ordered the Mexican roll, shrimp tempura, and California roll. Everything was fresh tasting and delicious! To drink, we both got the red sangria. It comes in a large glass with berries. It tasted like blueberries or pomegranate, but it was good. Unique, but also refreshing. Service was quick and good!

have been meaning to try this place for a long time people said it's good and they were right. We did it tonight cause we got home late and they were open till 930 which is unusual. The food was very good. The waitresses was very good. the place was empty probably because it was like 8 o'clock, and those people in this area are done by then so we could talk and had a fresh hot food served us. I would highly recommend this restaurant no tablecloth nice pictures of Thai looks like Tibet to me. easy parking

My GPS was super misleading because it almost turned me into an office building center. The restaurant itself is quite beautiful, simple and zen. Waitresses work in synced with one another which I love. Popped in for lunch on a Tuesday and have to say I was shocked by how busy they are. The lunch specials are phenomenal for what you get, quality of what is served and the price. For about $15 a person, you get entree, soup, salad and gyozas. It's a steal! Portion was massive and packed with flavors in every last bite!

Delicious food, AMAZING HH deals, and hardworking staff. Their HH memo is amazing! There's a variety of different options that come with salad, soup, dumplings, AND either sake/wine/beer for around $20!!! The food was very good, and the portions were huge. There was only one person working and the place got busy, but he continued to work extremely hard. All the customers and workers were very friendly. It was a cool place, and I'll definitely be returning.

Another great find thanks to Yelp! Although I did have to call them as I wasn't sure they had inside dining. They are only open for lunch 4 days a week, but if you're in the area then, this restaurant has a lot of options for a good value. All the lunch specials include a salad, miso soup, and 2 fried gyoza (dumplings). And I don't mean a choice of one of these...but all three of them! We came in and they were very busy. All the booths were occupied so we got a table in the middle of the room. We were immediately given menus, and a carafe of ice water. After we ordered, it seemed like in no time we received a piping hot bowl of miso soup, the two gyoza in a small dish with a sweet sauce, and a ginger dressing salad. All were delivered at once. My husband got their sushi set. This had a California roll and 4 pieces of sushi chosen by the chef. I remember tuna and salmon and there were two other types of fish. I had their cashew nuts with chili sauce. I chose shrimp for my protein. It was slightly spicy. Veggies included mushrooms, snow peas, carrots, squash, and scallions. A mound of white rice was on the side of the plate. It was good. So put together organized efficient service, a fast kitchen, tasty, well prepared food, a filling combo of value added extras, and you've got a winner. I'm sure we will be back as there are lots more items on their menu that I'd like to try.

Everything tasted fresh and we enjoyed every bite (even when I was feeling so full). Chef Vincent was great. We really enjoyed talking with him and he was super kind and knowledgeable. We loved watching him work and he put a lot of care into every dish. He explained what everything served was and answered any questions we had. Honestly, I don't remember half of the things he said about what was what, but I greatly enjoyed eating it. The waitress was extremely attentive and sweet as well! Location itself is nice and parking isn't stressful. I loved the inside of the restaurant itself. It's a fairly small place so even if it's full, it would still feel intimate. My favorite was the Miso cod and Wagyu steak. There's nigiri pieces, a hand roll and a nice sorbet to end the night. Besides uni, my highlights were the sea bream and mackerel. I also requested hot water with lemon and it came in a pot with a tea candle, very well presented! I was impressed. Our dining sets were cleared very efficiently. Wish the servers would be more friendly and smiled more though. What left a bad impression was the server was in such a rush to check out our group, she ran my card twice and then said she refunded and ran my husband's card once but upon checking my CC statement, nothing was refunded so we were charged 3 times for 2 people. When I called to clarify, she said there's nothing she could do as everything on their end was correct and I needed to contact my bank. After much turmoil back and forth, she was able to find the mistake (she refunded the wrong guest) and finally corrected it. Frustrating experience.

The space itself is really nice--spacious, high ceilings, lots of natural light, and (important to me) plenty of bar seating. The staff has always been friendly and attentive, though yes... I tend to make friends with staff at places I frequent. It just happens. Location-wise, it's just around the corner from E Atlantic Ave, which makes it easy to get to without being overrun by the tourist crowds that stick strictly to the Ave. This most recent visit was just for drinks and, surprisingly, dessert (rare sweet tooth moment). I asked what they had and immediately went with the mochi ice cream--no regrets. Four flavors that tasted like green tea, vanilla, strawberry, and mango, all drizzled with rich chocolate and topped with whipped cream. Definitely hit the spot. So yeah--recommend.

You'll have no problem finding parking as it has street parking all around and a garage that's $1.50 an hour (could be worse). The restaurant was clean and has a nice, calm vibe to it. The happy hour menu has a good selection of drinks and food. I like that it's offered everyday and at convenient times. We ordered: 1) Red Dragon and Triole Sexy ($13 per roll)- we liked it! Good presentation, simple, did not fall apart, tastes good. Price and portion was a plus 2) Salmon Carpaccio ($12)- comes with 5 pieces, topped with fried garlic and yuzu/truffle oil. I barely tasted truffle and I would think it would have came with more pieces, at least 6-8. Overall, tasted good 3) Beef short rib skewer ($9)- comes with 2 skewers of bite size pieces was underwhelming, a bit pricey. It was dry and def needed some oil and salt to make it juicy and some flavor Service was great! Sushi chefs did a great job with the rolls and apps. Do recommend for happy hour!

This review is strictly based upon our lunch delivery via Uber Eats…read more I ordered the Beef Bulgogi Bento Box. The Korean style beef was okay, but I needed to add eel sauce for some extra flavor. The 1/2 California Roll, gyoza and side salad with ginger dressing were fresh and delicious. I enjoyed the sushi roll the most. My two coworkers both ordered different types of sushi rolls. One had fish and the other was a sweet potato roll. The restaurant packed both of the rolls in the same box, which resulted in a mess, as the sauce on one roll got mixed in with the other roll. Again, this was take-out, so I am sure we would have had a different experience if we ate in the restaurant. I would like to try this restaurant again. Next time will be a dine-in meal instead of take-out.

This was my first time visiting Yama and three things popped up on my mind as to how they were able to stay in business for so many years. 1) The warm hospitality of the owner chef who was Korean, still tending to his sushi bar and his customers after working behind the sushi bar himself for decades in his younger years. 2) The beautifully and intricately designed interior that reminded me of upscale looking Izakaya dining space that was still affordable. 3) The fresh quality ingredients that they use and in house made salad dressing was a nice touch. The sushi was decent. There was too much rice used and too much going on top of the sushi pieces for my liking, but I still managed to finish them. The servers were welcoming and the manager was very hospitable checking up on me to make sure I had everything that I needed. Will definitely recommend this place to others. The parking spaces were limited and it was crowded on a Friday night around 830pm.

So imagine my disappointment when my husband and I came in and found out it was no longer on the menu. :( I feel like once restaurants expand to multiple locations, they often try to make the menu too generic to please everyone -- and it's those signature specialty items that make a place unique instead of just another run-of-the-mill spot serving the same dishes as everyone else. I miss restaurants that hold on to their uniqueness and don't need to cater to the mainstream palettes. Service was just okay. We waited a while before our waitress even came over to bring water.
