Our first visit, we ordered in person and waited about 15 minutes for our food. The second time, we called ahead and our order was ready when we arrived! Service was fast and easy. We tried the Szechuan chicken and shrimp combo order on our first visit, which came with an egg roll, wonton chips, and white rice. I added a side of sauce not realizing there would already be plenty with the main dish. On our second visit, we went with the regular Szechuan chicken, which also comes with white rice (brown rice is available for an upcharge) -- and it was easily enough for two to share. The food is flavorful without being too oily or overdressed, and the spice level is solid. I personally like a little more heat, so I topped mine off with red pepper flakes at home, but it is good as-is. Veggies were cooked well and everything was served hot and fresh. I felt like a lunch special today and I couldn't get the website to work so I use the telephone. 10 minutes later I went to Bamboo Wok and my lunch was ready to pick up. Lunch was abundant for $15. Four spareribs, an eggroll and fried rice were included. I filled the bag with a fortune cookie and some duck sauce on my way out. Lunch was hot and the plastic container did not leak. The ribs on top were perfect with the meat falling off the bones. The two ribs hidden on the bottom were overcooked gritty and garbage. Very disappointing experience last week. The pork chow mein was very greasy. Pan fried dumplings weren't prepared properly, which made them inedible. Overall the krab rangoons were ok, just much different than what they previously served. They changed the shape as well as the cream cheese mixture that they are stuffed with. These were not good. Much to our surprise, they didn't include any of the traditional sauces; mustard, duck or soy sauce. They also didn't include any fortune cookies. I had read about this small family-owned chain of three Chinese takeout restaurants. So, I thought I would try it since I am disappointed with the majority of Chinese restaurants in the area. Food is very good for Chinese takeout in Florida. I second that it reminds me of takeout places in New York. Though we are not in New York and this place could use a serious makeover on the inside. I got the sesame chicken and substituted lo main for the rice that came with the dinner special. That was $3 extra charge. The meals are really big and you can split them. But they don't heat up well the next day. I liked how the chicken was all white meat. The noodles were cooked perfectly and the pork egg roll was crispy and had a great flavor. I learned you must put your order in on the phone before you come. And also like all other reviews you end up waiting 20min once you get there. It's a long line and one woman at the counter. You can take as many fortune cookies as you want but the humidity makes them super stale and they are not good. The flavor of my dish was really on the sweet side. The noodles were even sweet. I had horrible indigestion the next morning. When I'm in Florida and my family want Chinese this is the place to go to though, I tried some others and no place in the area has better American Chinese takeout. Just look at the chart of accumulated reviews. There are as many 5 stars as there are 1 star. That's because this mini chain of Chinese take out is inconsistent with its staffing. Every time I go there it seems that different people are manning the work stations. The result is the dishes are hit or miss. One day the Orange Chicken is perfectly acceptable. The next day it should have been thrown away before packing it up and put into a bag for a hopeful customer. You could think of it as the Forrest Gump of take outs... you never know what to expect. read more

Needed a local Chinese restaurant for my 30 min lunch break and Google maps found me this place. So glad I didn't see the reviews beforehand, as I likely would have not tried it. But I am so glad I came here. The food was delicious, made quickly and properly and I was able to enjoy about half of it before having to return to work (it was a large lunch special portion size). I decided to write this review to let others know that you can't always go by the low rated reviews. Sometimes the ones writing the horrible reviews are probably the nasty people that you run into while out and about around town, that you yourself find obnoxious. And then there are the people like us who see the good, are less uptight and give credit where credit is due. The food was bland, not very flavorful. They also didn't give us all the dishes we ordered. They didn't offer to credit us for the mistake. Food quality and prices are ok for a "fast food" to go restaurant. I usually only order from here on the way back home after picking my son up from school. Pretty much only order the chicken lo mein, orange chicken and steamed white rice and although far from cuisine quality never had a problem with it. I always have fun placing the order with the lady I believe who owns the place with her unmistakable voice saying..."Bamboo Wok may I help you" Rattle off my order...... We have been getting dinner at Bamboo Wok for years. We generally order moo shi shrimp and hot and sour soup. Tonight's dinner was a disappointment. The hot and sour soup was room temperature. There were no pancakes with the moo shi shrimp. The usual Hoisin sauce was also missing. It's just too much trouble to go back and try to get it straightened out so we ate it and wrote this review. Food for dinner is way more greasy and way less flavorful than it is for lunch, when you do finally get it. Delays are long for orders at dinner, but it does not end with a ready in 25 minutes. There are multiple people waiting, quasi socially distanced, which MIT showed does NOT work. Everyone is in masks, which also don't work, never did, and multiple studies show it. It's first come and a long line. People ahead of you have food not ready. They get to the front, and then the whole line waits longer. Maybe they get to the next in line 3-5 minutes later. There is no system or organization for people whose food is ready and waiting. I waited 15 minutes from my lining up, and my food, was ready the whole time, with 5 crazy masked people in front of me. Being a take out only place one would think the service would be better. Orders take upwards of 40 minutes after ordering upon arrival. The food is average or a little better. Vegetables are fresh, portions are generous, and the prices are very fair. The wait for your food brings us the most negative part, the clientele is probably the worst I've ever witnessed. I had no idea it was possible to get Chinese food so wrong. Let's start with the "hot and sour" soup, which is completely wrong: no bamboo shoots, not enough vinegar (not sour), not enough chilli (not hot), and not enough corn starch (too thin). The fried rice was very bland, needs a lot of sesame oil at minimum, and maybe a little Liquid Smoke. The boneless pork ribs were super tough; should have tenderized them with baking soda, and the sauce was all wrong; just buy char siu sauce from the Asian store and use that. The broccoli beef was okay, but needed more corn starch. The duck sauce packets were tasteless, not sweet but salty...wrong. The owners really should subscribe to the "Cooking with Lau" YouTube channel, and actually learn how to cook Chinese food. This place is a complete failure. read more

Wonton soup was bland, with minimal wontons (1, to be exact). Broccoli was greasy. General Tso chicken is supposed to be sweet AND spicy; if there were any peppers in it, I didn't see or taste them. I had to check the order to make sure it was General Tso, and not Orange Chicken or Honey Garlic Chicken, by mistake, because the only flavor was "sweet." The only Chinese takeout place worth a damn in the Boynton / Delray area. Consistent. Fresh. Tasty. Every single time. White meat chicken in all the chicken-based dishes, and they will happily adjust not only the heat but sodium levels upon request. There may be a wait if you walk up and order, but if you just call ahead, your food will almost always be ready in 30 minutes at the most. There's a huge well-lit parking lot as well. It may take a little bit to pay if there's a line, but that's because they are focused on producing fresh food.
