Two years ago, the dishes at Teriyaki Madness in Oakland Park were really enjoyable when the location suddenly closed. With that being said, I was delighted to come across a Teriyaki Madness while driving around the Boca Raton area. I was nicely greeted by a male employee who took my order of a regular chicken Teriyaki bowl served with my choice of white rice and veggies. Here's how the food measured up: * the rice was cooked to a soft consistency * the veggies was tasty...steamed with a bit of a crunch * the tender chicken was grilled nicely and sliced evenly. Covered in Teriyaki sauce which wasn't too salty There are a few Build Your Bowls which consists of your choice of protein, white or brown rice, and veggies (carrots, cabbage, zucchini, broccoli, and onions). I don't think this place gets enough credit; maybe the location? Not enough "word of mouth"? I find the variety of choices and the fact that the food is made to order, spot on! I like the curbside option where they bring to your car, the only issue is that where you park for the curbside, it tends to block cars or disrupt the flow of traffic both ways, due to facing the street. The food here is solid and definitely hits the spot for a teriyaki craving. My chicken bowl was flavorful with fresh, crisp veggies, no complaints on that front. I had just finished a workout at LA fitness and was eager to find a healthy lunch. I found Teriyaki Madness nearby and thought I'd give it a try. I ordered the spicy chicken teriyaki that was served over broccoli and cabbage and a small fountain drink. Immediately the tip screen was shoved in my face, 15%, 20%, or 25%. For what? I was given a plastic bowl, plastic fork and foam cup. No one served me, it was seat yourself. The chicken itself was tasty, but it sat on a bed of hard broccoli and cabbage swimming in oil. Husband ordered the Bowl which comes with rice and veggies. I was impressed they were able to accommodate Husband's request for zucchini only. 13 year old ordered a Plate which comes with a side salad as well. The salad, which came with poppyseed dressing looked unremarkable. I would not bother. I tasted the Chicken Teriyaki which was tasty and not too greasy. Yes, it did resemble mall food to some extent, but a much better version! I actually ordered a side of veggies for myself and was impressed. The veggies were fresh, crisp, and not saturated in oil or soy sauce. The one aspect at Teriyaki Madness that needs to be improved upon is the wait time. For a fast casual concept, it was not fast at all. We were there at about 3:30 pm, not even a busy meal time and we waited much longer than we should have for our meal. Franchised Quick-serve Asian-style bowl place originating from Seattle where this is a popular fast food dish, similar to Japanese Gyūdon/Katsudon. I wish I could say it was as good as a legit Gyūdon place, I've had the real item in Seattle and NYC and this is way more Americanized. The food quality honestly is about the same as a Panda Express. Only chicken, beef and tofu is offered as a protein, no shrimp (except for a fried appetizer) or pork. Waited about 10 minutes before girl up front who was packing up containers of food for takeout orders was able to take my order. Crab Rangoons were not bad, I should have just had those and not gone any further. The teriyaki sauce itself that I had on my beef bowl was cloyingly sweet, actually quite unappetizing. A real teriyaki or a Gyūdon marinade is soy with rice wine and only enough sugar to add a little sweetness to it. This tastes like it was made half or more out of canned pineapple juice, and honestly I only had a few bites of it. I had to empty the contents of my stomach immediately after walking out of this place. They have extra teriyaki sauce on the table if you're inclined to send yourself into diabetic shock. They also have sriracha there as well, which only marginally improves it according to my wife who picked at it after I said I was going to pail the entire thing. You'd be better off at a cheap Chinese takeout place, of which there are are many in the immediate area. You're going to pay the same amount of money and have more choices. read more

This was my second time back. My wife liked it the first time. Came back and I got the spicy chicken teriyaki that I had with the noodles and vegetables and a egg roll. Loved it. I think the spicy chicken was not that spicy. Still was delicious . I was talking to the employee and told him that I thought it would be spicier. He was nice enough to try the mad spicy chicken. Aside from feeling partially duped, the cashier complained a little bit about applying the offer and shared that they never work. Bad mall food, and this isn't even in a mall! Normally Asian cuisine is my favorite mall food; but Teriyaki Madness takes all the flavor out of what should be a great meal. I think the main thing to note is that the chicken is chicken breast. It comes in huge pieces, not bite size, which is a major turn off for me. For food of this quality; the price is not justified. I felt like I was being charged a lot for food that wasn't great. Now in terms of portion size, it is pretty decent; so if you like the food, you are getting a decent amount. The atmosphere inside is sterile. Yes, it is clean; but the look is almost industrial. The portions were very generous, in my opinion. The order was done in a short amount of time, and they give you a small cup of the thin sauce (I believe that is what I saw on the bottle). The vegetables were nice and fresh, and the chicken was nice and tender. However, I do wish the thicker sauce that was on the teriyaki chicken was given more than the thin sauce. At least next time, I know what to ask for! The fried rice was tasty too. A lot of Asian food places seem to have rather flavorless rice with the peas and carrots decorating it but this was good!
