Got dinner with our friends here so we could enjoy it at the park. All the options on the menu looked delicious and there is even candy to enjoy while you skim through. I got the salt and pepper popcorn chicken with taro bubble tea. My fiancé got the fried chicken cutlet over rice plate and our friends tried the omurice and a hot&sour noodle soup. For dessert, we tried the tea and tofu dessert (not sure if it's for me, but I enjoyed the plain tofu pudding and bubbles with syrup over the one with ginger). The service was fast to take our order and since it is made fresh, we have to wait about 20 minutes. Seriously the best noodles I have ever had. 12 out of 10 stars on everything from the steamed rice and broccoli to the kung pao lo mein and general Tso chicken. Came here for lunch take-out on a recent Friday. I would never write a review unless I felt strongly about it. I have always loved this place. The owner is very friendly, and it seems clean. Sorry, moo Shu Chicken was absolutely tasteless and the Egg Drop Soup had an odd taste that I can't explain. Could not eat either. Chinese takeout can be a hit or miss situation. While in Troy, we decided to try the Lucky Corner and the luck was with us. I ordered the Hunan Shrimp hoping for a little spice. Yes, it was spicy as you can only hope for. It had the aforementioned shrimp along with broccoli, baby corn, carrots and mushrooms. Mushrooms were carmelized to have that nice earthy flavor. For those who are faint of heart with heat, you may want to ask for less hot peppers or order something more tame. Personally, it was delish! SO had the pork chop over rice, one of the "specialities." Not being a pork chop fan, I went the traditional route. (I did try a slice of his chop and would give it a positive vote since it was not my mother's dried out pork chop.) Since this was a terrific meal, yes, I'll be putting this on our list of places to visit more often. Parking is on the street. Wasn't bad getting a spot tonight. A colleague recommended for us to try this place for takeout but we were not impressed. We gave it two chances, but we only chose menu items from our "standard" Chinese takeout order, so maybe that's on us for not going with something they specialize in. Maybe the taiwanese items are good. General Tso's chicken was okay but the chicken was dry. Beef lo mein didn't have much in the way of flavor or meat or veg - pretty much just noodles in a very thin coat of sauce. Staff was friendly enough during pickup - not much to comment on. Lucky Corner is right. The citizens of Troy who get this corner Taiwanese comfort food spot in their neighborhood are the lucky ones. On my first visit, I got a giant bowl full of soup, and that was all fine and good. But on my second trip, the fried chicken cutlet over rice had risen the ranks of Yelp as the dish to get. Even though it was definitely soup weather, I had to try the local favorite. But it wasn't easy, since there were so many other Taiwanese specialties I wanted to try. Man, that chicken cutlet plate was delicious. That said, I might not get it again. it's just a ton of food. And for about half the price, you can get a bowl of the minced pork over rice, which is pretty much the same thing but without the chicken. Plus, by getting a smaller dish, I might have room for one of the tempting appetizers or the tofu pudding dessert. Tofu pudding is one of my favorites, and it's been a long time since I've had it. This place is AWESOME. We have been there twice now and we have never been dissapointed. I love their fried chicken cutlet over rice. My husband ordered their chicken noodle soup with udon noodles and the perfect poached egg. It was perfect, especially during a cold frigid evening. We love their Taiwanese styled fried green-beans. One new item I tried was their tofu pudding in a ginger broth with bubble drink. It was ever so lightly sweetened with a lovely ginger flavor and delicate tofu peices. Perfect. I may have rated lucky corner in the past but I went there tonight and it was pretty lousy. I was distracted by the dining room furniture all piled together and covered with plastic. It looked closed. I didn't even notice the 5+ signs on the door that said to wear a mask or don't come in. I dont have masks on me anymore. By the look of the place you'd think the plague is spreading. Needless to say the person at the counter wasn't overly friendly when I walked in without a mask - again I didn't even notice the mask signs because it looked closed. Anyway. The food was not nearly as good as it used to be. Kind of flavorless. Lo mein was bland. Dumplings had little filling. Barely any meat in them and even the dumpling sauce was bland. When I went back to pick it up I noticed the signs about masks so I went to dig one out of my car. The neighborhood is also not great at night. I think it was my last trip there. read more

Stumbled upon this place on a New England road trip. The place is super tiny with very limited seating. You order up front and they bring the food to you. Service isn't super friendly, but I think it's because the place gets busy and is run by a husband/wife team? Onto the food. In short, it was delicious home comfort food. I liked it so much I came back the next day for lunch right when it opened (they were friendlier this time). As a fellow traveler who has had the luxury to settle down near Lucky Corner, I have to say that it offers one of the best Chinese/Taiwanese food in town. It is true, as other reviews might say, that the taste might differ from time to time, but that shows authenticity and natural taste, because ingredients are not harmful nor cheaply horrendous in our bodies. I can tell their soup does not offer a wretched amount of MSG. The flavors pop in ways that are not from chemicals. And their boba tea doesn't come prepackaged with 10 different types of food coloring and 60 grams of sugar. Yes, the taste might differ from time to time but as does one's own cooking when they're not mechanically prepackaged. Every single time I go here, I am never disappointed. Let me tell you about this place. After 2 years of living here in the Capitol District, I have finally found a place that serves great Taiwanese cuisine. It's a small little restaurant with a handful of tables for those who want to sit in, but I am told it's mainly take-out. I came here with a friend who recommended the classic Beef Noodle Soup. Served in a large bowl with a good amount of noodles and delicious tender beef, the soup definitely hit the spot and I finished the entire bowl without a drop of soup remaining. I also got the taiwanese salt+pepper fried chicken, which tasted AMAZING. Pieces of dark meat chicken deep fried and seasoned with aromatic spices in the perfect combination. Every bite was a taste of heaven. I was so excited by the two dishes I tried, I ordered the braised minced pork over rice and another salt+pepper fried chicken to-go. I was going to save it for lunch the next day, but ended up finishing it all that night. The braised minced pork over rice is served with minced pork, an egg, pickled cabbage, and a yellow radish. This eaten alongside the fried chicken is one of my top-5 food combinations. I wasn't even hungry anymore and I finished it all. Since they opened, they have expanded their menu to include familiar american chinese take-out dishes (i.e. general tso's chicken, orange chicken, beef and broccoli, lo mein, etc.) to cater to area, but I would highly recommend any of their taiwanese specialties. The price for some of these specialty dishes may be slightly higher than the typical chinese take-out place, which is probably driving away the general public, but let me tell you... the price difference is a difference you can taste. 5 Stars. This is pretty far from me since I don't own a car and reside in my Hobbit hole of Albany, but I really love this sweet little corner. I originally came here after a wonderful supper at The Brown Bag, and I was pleasantly surprised by the authentic and diverse drinks offered there. Unfortunately, I have yet to have their food, but their drinks are quite good (from the two times I have had the pleasure of having). I got the Citrus aiyu kumquat tea both times, and it's definitely a treat to get on a hot summer day! They make the tea delightfully sweet but not so much that it's sickening. The aiyu are pretty well made, and it adds a tangy zest to the texture. The staff are pretty friendly, and they were pretty responsive to me making personalizations to my order (i.e. half sugar, less ice, etc). I believe they do delivery, so it's a wonderful for peeps who live nearby. They also have a bowl of yummy Lychi candies, so make sure to grab a few as a desert later on! read more

Lucky Corner advertises itself as a (take-out restaurant) and as far as restaurants dedicated to take-out go, Lucky Corner is a great place. The menu is relatively small but focused, with a page for Taiwanese and American-Chinese classics, and a page for Teas, Bubble-Teas, and soda. Prices are on the low side ranging from $2.50 for a pint of Hot Sour Soup to $10.75 for Chef's Specialty General Tso's Chicken. There are no combos or lunch specials. I ordered a Milk Bubble-Tea and Beef Noodle Soup. It was ready in under 10 minutes. The Bubble-Tea was served in authentic Taiwanese style with a seal over the lid which you break with a straw. The the Beef Noodle Soup came in a large bowl, tasted great, and was filling. I opted to actually eat at the restaurant. I ate in what is clearly designed to be more of a waiting area than actual dining area. It only had 1 table, and a bar with chairs along one of the walls, but a lot of floor space, apparently for people to stand in. It was nothing special, but was clean and in good repair. Overall, if whether you're in the mood for Taiwanese food, or looking for a quick, efficient, and tasty place to get Chinese takeout I highly suggest Lucky Corner. The dough for the dumplings was very thick which is not my preference, however, that did not detract from the flavor, plus for around $5 you get 8 and they're extremely filling. So hubby and I had dinner in Troy and all of a sudden I decided I wanted some bubble tea, so went to my trusty Yelp to see what my nearby choices were. I ended up at Lucky Corner. Parking was difficult to find and hubby just waited while I ran inside because we couldnt find anything nearby. Now, the restaurant is small and it was busy. Only one party was seated but several people were waiting for take out. A gentleman took my order as soon as I arrived but it did take longer than normal to prepare the bubble tea as he was assembling food orders and making the bubble tea for several people waiting. Now, onto the tea...holy cow. We had the passion fruit green tea with Boba and I can honestly say this was one of the better bubble teas I've had (except in NYC and Philly Chinatowns) and for the Albany area, it probably doesn't get any better.
