Lucky Corner reigns supreme and no other place in the same category even comes close in the Capital Region. What do we love about it? First and foremost, consistency. In the almost five years we've been coming here, the food here has been incredibly consistent, which means they have the best, most delicious braised mixed pork. No other place, including ones in North Carolina, DC, Georgia, and elsewhere in NYS, has matched the juicy minced pork, refreshingly sweet and savory greens, and the tender marinated soft boiled egg. The owner has always been quick and efficient yet friendly and courteous, and... did I mention he makes an amazing cream of corn soup as well? Other food highlights at Lucky Corner include the curry chicken with rice and gua bao. Prices have gradually crept up over time just like at other foods joints, and Lucky Corner still offers impressive value. I kinda wish the dining room reopened, but as of early November 2025, it's still not open. Last but not last, Lucky Corner gets extra love from me for being a local business. Long live Lucky Corner.

Legit Taiwanese place that is currently carry-out only. When you come, do try the items on the "Taiwanese Style" section on the menu - fried roasted pork (as an appetizer or over rice), sautéed cabbage, curry chicken over rice. Several items on the Taiwanese style section reminded me of the corner eatery near my childhood home in Taipei.

Authentic Taiwanese cuisine, enjoyable experience here. It's never easy to find a proper Taiwanese restaurant that serves the real Taiwanese flavor. It's exactly the hometown taste here in Troy and every dish we ordered was yummy. Definitely a go to pl

Lucky Corner is right. The citizens of Troy who get this corner Taiwanese comfort food spot in their neighborhood are the lucky ones. On my first visit, I got a giant bowl full of soup, and that was all fine and good. But on my second trip, the fried chicken cutlet over rice had risen the ranks of Yelp as the dish to get. Even though it was definitely soup weather, I had to try the local favorite. But it wasn't easy, since there were so many other Taiwanese specialties I wanted to try. Man, that chicken cutlet plate was delicious. That said, I might not get it again. it's just a ton of food. And for about half the price, you can get a bowl of the minced pork over rice, which is pretty much the same thing but without the chicken. Plus, by getting a smaller dish, I might have room for one of the tempting appetizers or the tofu pudding dessert. Tofu pudding is one of my favorites, and it's been a long time since I've had it. I am curious to taste how this Troy version stacks up with those I've enjoyed in the past.

My favorite, Taiwanese style fried chicken cutlet over rice.

The flavor is alright. For $22, it's absolutely not worth it for the very little meat and bones. The rice wasn't bad actually. It wasn't dry and soaks up the seasoning from the pork chops well. By 12:30, every table was occupied. What? Great reputation! We were seated at a small but nice window table right away. Immediately, we received a pot of tea. We placed our order since I had to be home by 1:30. Turned out we were served quickly considering how busy the kitchen must have been. Our Hot and Sour Soups came within 7-10 min. followed by our lunch choices. Hot and Sour Soup was outstanding. My go to anytime it is on menu, so I compliment from experience. It had a flavorful base that was perfectly sweet and sour. The tofu was sliced small, and the mushrooms had a pleasant texture and taste. Delicious! Sesame Chicken was with a sweet and tangy sauce that hit all the right notes. It was made with nice size chunks of white meat. Broccoli was not over cooked. Pork with Garlic Sauce was a great choice. Tender strips of pork covered in a good sauce that was perfect on the rice. We each took a portion of our lunch home so we would have "room" for ice cream. Homemade Ice Cream! Two scoops for each of us: Too delicious to share plus a real treat! *Green Tea/Matcha was deep in color and the flavor--superb. *Red Bean was sweeter, and my taste buds enjoyed every spoonful. Enjoyable lunch at a restaurant where you can count on food being well prepared plus get experienced service. A true GEM.

Additionally I also enjoyed their General Tso's shrimp and Peking Duck. Service here is on point and the waitstaff is attentive. I would like to return to try other dishes. I ordered Jasmine Green Tea, a cup of Hot and Sour Soup, and Singapore Noodles. A pot of tea arrived quickly which pleased me. I often judge a Chinese restaurant by the quality and taste of its Hot and Sour Soup. This soup was excellent in comparison. The broth was a good balance of flavors. It was just spicy enough. It had fresh mushrooms and tofu. Five Stars for the soup. When I saw the check later, I realized it was included free with my lunch. The Singapore Noodles was a large portion, but disappointing in that I could barely detect the yellow curry. The rice noodles needed more sauce or spice! The chicken strips were tender. There were onion pieces as well as scallions in it. Three Stars. But I will return. There are many booths in the restaurant as well as a long row of connected tables in the center for large groups. Calling it a meal would be an insult to actual food. The sweet tea? A sad, watered-down mess that clearly gave up on life halfway through being poured. Let's talk about the black mold--yes, black mold--on the ceilings and in the women's restroom. That's not just gross, it's a full-blown health hazard. The entire building feels like it hasn't seen a cleaning crew--or basic maintenance--since the early 2000s. The windows are caked in filth, and the air has that special "what died in here?" aroma. We were charged $140 for six people to sit in what felt like a biohazard zone and nibble on food so repulsive it should be illegal to serve. We left after 10 minutes because honestly, it felt like our immune systems were under attack just being there. My sister started having stomach pains within five minutes of leaving. I'm not saying the food caused it--but I'm also not not saying that. This place needs to be shut down, fumigated, and bulldozed.
