Ordered a while back for take out and loved the dumplings and Biang Biang Noodles. Went in to explore the extensive menu a bit more. Found out that everything is made there including the dumplings and many of their noodle selections. Couldn't get the signature noodles because they were still making them. We did get there right after they opened. Not mad about that. Will go back later in the day next time. The pork burger was delicious - the roast pork was perfect and the bun offered nice texture. The dumplings were even better fresh (not take out)- thin wrapper and crispy fry, very tasty pork filling. The chili wontons were amazing. That sauce belongs on damn near everything! I was worried they'd be overly spicy, but they weren't, though I do like spicy things. So if you like spicy/flavorful they're bomb. If you like spicy for the sport of spice they won't blow your skirt up. The Biang Biang noodles were better than remembered - wide noodles with a nice chew coated in SO much garlic and enough spice at the end to keep things interesting. The waitress recommended the Dan Dan noodles as the signature noodles weren't ready yet. They were good, but I look forward to a less "safe" option next time. Not her fault, she didn't know us. It was a solid, tasty suggestion. The hot black tea was served in giant steins with loose black tea leaves steeping in the bottom. The good, the food was good and presented well. I should have taken a picture, it was Instagram worthy. The bad, the men's bathroom looked like it hasn't been cleaned in months. As other people have commented, the menu is not the same old Chinese-American in most places. The dry chicken with peppers and peanuts was great! I wrote "less hot" on the order form; not sure if that's what I got, but it was just right. It's going to be tough deciding whether to get that again or try something else. I also got sauteed bok choy that was perfectly cooked and had a nice light sauce on it. $12 is steep for that but there was quite a bit. The red chili wontons were great. The red chili oil adds a great amount of heat. The booths there are spacious and we noticed a number of people picking up food for takeout. As soon as the server walked over my partners Biang Biang noodles we could smell the spice and garlic. It's delicious. I tried multiple bites and got a pang of jealously that I didn't order them for myself. The misses- the steamed dumplings were a bit gummy and the bubble tea I got was too sweet. However, don't write off a A Taste of Xian, next time I want to try the burgers and get an order of the Biang Biang noodles for myself. read more

Food is typically bland, the gravys seem to be very watery, not just in texture but to be honest in flavor as well.

Had the flu for a few days and I was craving soup. This is by far the most AMAZING beef braised soup I've ever had. They allow you to pick your level of spice, and me being me, picked hot. I can tell you now, if you want to clear your sinuses, this is it! Ask for HOT and you'll def get it! The meat was so beyond tender, literally melts in your mouth, and the broth? Phenomenal! So rich, so hearty full of flavor! The noodles were cooked to perfection as well! But the best part was definitely the broth! Also it's not pictured, but I also got the mango bubble tea-- fantastic! Doesn't taste like the artificial mango flavor, in fact it tastes like they hand squeezed it into a cup! 15/10 would recommend! P.s the pork buns are out of this world! read more

I got delivery, so can't comment on dine-in experience, but my general impression is the best Chinese food always comes from a hole in the wall. Food was outstanding and authentic. If you are looking for standard american-chinese brown sauce experience, you will probably not like it. These guys are awesome - really nice, friendly people, fresh use of the space and very wholesome foods. I loved 'Xian Famous Foods' when I lived in NYC, and am happy to see these types of foods in Troy. Things I really enjoy from the Xian region which they have on the menu here: - Tea Egg - Signature Noodles (Cold Appetizer w/ Cucumber, Tofu and light sour-vinegary dressing) - Tiger Vegetable Salad (Spicy, Sour Cilantro Salad - must try for something light on the side!) - Braised Beef Noodle Soup - Spicy Lamb Cumin Burger - Dry Beef w/ Cumin They have tons of other stuff I have yet to have the chance to experience! Review is based on my Grubhub delivery. Food arrived promptly and the driver Muhammed was quite pleasant. Eggplant came apart easily when eaten with a fork but was still delicious; spice level was great (I got the medium spice level). I usually don't like to write reviews unless it's an extraordinarily great experience or extremely poor one. This review is the latter. We wanted to grab a quick bite on the way home after a long commute so I decided to try this new restaurant. It is located near a small intersection with mostly street parkings. There's a small parking lot with 4 cars slot next to it but I didn't get a chance to check if it belongs to the restaurant. Atmosphere: 3 Very limited decor and bare minimal table setting. Service :0 Their only waitress is serious lacking training and had very bad attitude. When we're arrived, it already passed lunch rush hour. They have 7 booths and 4 small tables. We were asked to be seated in one of the small tables which was extremely small and wobbly. The worst is that it was right in the middle of the hallway. There's one booth was vacant and I requested to sit there. The waitress was very reluctant and kept saying if there's a party of 4 coming, they have to merge tables. I told her it's late for lunch and there were couple of tables were finishing up. It shouldn't be a problem. Our nightmare started from there. After we were seated, she didn't come to clean the table. I was in rush so after 5 min of waiting I wiped it with napkins. I called her over after I saw she started to take orders from a table coming way after us. I told her we were in rush and I would appreciate that she could bring the food out quickly. I order one pork burger, one bowl of pork noodle soup and a bowl of Biang Biang noodle. All of them shouldn't take more than 10 min to make. The burger was brought up pretty quickly by another person. Then we started the long wait. After the next table after ours started to eat for a while, our first noodle soup came, with a SPOON. Then I realized that she didn't set up our table. I had to go to the counter to request for plates and chopsticks for the noodle. My child started to eat while I waited for mine. It took 25 min after we ordered and the next table after we came already finished their food, my dish was still not up. I end up going to the counter again.The cashier apologized and questioned the waitress. She immediately took a bowl out and ask if it's mine. Apparently, she just kept my dish there. Since I spent so much time waiting to be served, I asked about WiIFI password because there's no cellular signal in the restaurant. She quickly said it's our phones number and just left. None of the phone numbers on their brochure works. By then I already gave up on getting anything from this awful waitress and just can't wait to finish and get going. Food: 2 The pork burger was mushy inside and tasted bland. We each had one bite and that's it. The pork noodle soup was displayed to be none spicy on the menu and I double confirmed it with the waitress. It turned up with red chili peppers in it and the broth was mild spicy. I questioned about this later with the cashier who seems to be a little friendlier than this waitress. She told me the soup should not be spicy and the chili pepper was just used to make the broth. I don't know how this logic works. The noodle was way over cooked. The Long waited Biang Biang noodle was so-so with way too much garlic. It was also over cooked. Another thing I wanted to mention is that when we were ordering, I pointed to one of the pictures asking the waitress what the dish was . She responded, " don't look at the picture, it doesn't match the food ". I said, "I know there might be discrepancies between the menu pictures and the food, but I am curious to know what dish it is ". She responded "don't bother, it's irrelevant." So, make sure you don't use the menu literally if you still want to try this restaurant.Just use your imagination to order your food. read more

Tried this place for the first time two weeks ago and have now been there twice. Dandan noodles were excellent, a taste new to me. Very nice wonton soup as well. The second time there I had the Biang noodles which were good but didn't wow me like the dandan noodles did. Service was fast and friendly and price was reasonable. read more

Anyone who enjoys truly authentic Chinese food should check this place out. The chef is from Xian, so many of the dishes are in the general style of northwest China and everything is very, very tasty. It's similar to Xian Famous Foods in NYC, but with an even broader menu and plenty of space and a pleasant environment for dining in. read more

Lots of vegetarian options, decent levels of spicy if marked as such, milk tea and boba are good. I highly recommend their noodles but everything is pretty satisfying and the portions are appropriate. This place fills a taste niche that was totally missing from this area before.
