Totally gem. Everything i have had here was amazing. I would recommend going here I personally could go here daily. Not a ton of veg or vegan options which is surprising because they have a salad deli feet. Also the deserts are to die for and the tea options are kind of like what you would find at Whole foods. This is a nice little restaurant in the heart of Keene. They serve a variety of Mediterranean dishes with plenty to choose from. I had the lamb gyro and really liked it. The other people at the table had burgers, roasted brussels sprouts, and lamb lettuce wraps. The food was really good. I'd give this restaurant five stars but the seats were uncomfortable (they bow out significantly which is difficult for bigger guys like myself) and the waiter was a bit of a jerk. read more

Stopped here for lunch outside after walking around for a bit. First time trying Mediterranean food. Family shared the mussels which were amazing and we had the lamb gyro, pork tacos, and tagine. The food is simply amazing!!! The kids had pizza, and it was nothing like the pizzas we are use to, here in the us. The sauce was tangy and the cheese so bubbly and perfect. The dough just delicious! Mine was Salmon with candied apricots and a little salad and rice beads underneath. I just wish they had more apricots, because it complimented the Salmon very well! For desert, my kids shared the Creme Brûlée. We got the Tiramisu. Kids weren't a fan (we liked it) and the Tiramisu was so different and so beautiful!!!! Delicious! It pains me having known Luca and being a Keene native to only give his restaurant 4 stars, but at the end of the day, no matter how great the food, it all comes down to experience. My husband and I were in town visiting and decided to head here for a "date night". While I'm not an expert on customer service, having worked with the worst customers in both the food and healthcare industries, I've learned how to genuinely engage people no matter how short the interaction. The waitstaff at Luca's exude a snobbiness and overall fake-ness that is so incredibly disheartening and disappointing when served with an excellent tasting entree. Bottom line, food, ambiance, drinks, cleanliness...all fabulous, waitstaff could use a little coaching and polishing. read more

Due to the unique circumstances of catering Luca's food for a July 6th wedding in Walpole and having a lunch work meeting arranged here two days ago, I've been able to sample their chicken francaise, frutta di mare, green bean almandine, and other solidly cooked side dishes and main courses. What struck me about Luca's from the first bite was how fresh the ingredients tasted! I could savor the cream sauce in the chicken francaise which shifted to subtle lemon flavor, and I could just feel the sheer tenderness of the mussels, shrimp, and salmon in their frutta di mare. Whether it be the New York experience of their owner, or professional standards of their wait staff, or some other X factor, Luca's to date has delivered on some rich dining experiences. Also, for those wanting voluminous flavor without steep spending, I'd highly recommend visiting by for their weekday lunches. read more

My husband and I had an amazing dinner at Luca's Cafe. Our waiter was Erik. The food was delicious! My husband had the savory Pork Medallions and I had the Salmon. I believe that the Salmon was the best that I have ever tasted, and I usually order Salmon every time we eat out. It was cooked perfectly, crispy on the outside, and tender, flaky and juicy on the inside. The cous cous and wilted greens were also delicious. We had the lamb lettuce wraps as an appetizer and loved them. The service was excellent! It was charming to sit outside as the sun was setting. Thank you, Luca's for a memorable meal. We came here on a whim tonight and nearly got turned away ON A MONDAY so you know this place rocks. We had the red pepper tomato soup and Brussels sprouts for apps with the autumn sangria which was delicious. For dinner we had the maple salmon and the lamb tagine. The former was amazing, the tagine was only okay. For dessert we had the dark chocolate mousse which I guess our otherwise very knowledgeable waitress forgot had gluten in it. Luckily one baby dessert bite didn't send me into any complications with my allergies... yet anyway. My boyfriend ate the rest of the cake portion and we lovedddd our dessert. We loved the ambiance and vibe of this place from our outside seats. Indoors, it does tend to look a bit confused of its heritage similar to the menu (I was informed the chef and owner is Italian and the menu and decor were Italian, French and Moroccan inspired. Perhaps I haven't stumbled upon restaurants that claim to be Mediterranean that have this broad influence, though I've never been to one with a creme brûlée or escargot on the menu before. Another nitpicky thing is that their website is rather dull for a wix template and it's a free website so it's dot wixwebsite.com and advertising wix when you look at it. It's possible that I am not small-town enough to consider paying for a website pointless, but for the prices they are charging, it was unusual to see them cutting back on a nominal yearly fee. The meal from start to finish was fantastic. The bruschetta was delicious, as well as the escargots. My main meal was the fettuccine with red pepper, grilled corn, and pancetta in a cream sauce. It was truly amazing and probably one of the best meals I've ever experienced. I highly recommend it!!! My husband got the beef medallions and ate every bit. It was cooked to perfection, just the way he likes it. The service was excellent as well. The waitress was very attentive. We are from the Boston area and were extremely happy to have such a wonderful meal on our vacation. This will now be a tradition of ours to come here every summer. Everything we ordered was delish. The sauce on the clams and chorizo was so good we ordered bread to sop up the sauce. The grilled artichokes were prepared to perfection and the sauce and roasted tomatoes were fabulous together. Luca's hosted my son's rehersal dinner. We all were very pleased with the food and the atmosphere. We had different dietary requirements, vegetarian, eastern, and mediteranean. Very disappointing experience. Inattentive wait staff. I ordered a PBR 16oz and was given a 12oz non-alc PBR. No water was offered. No bread with our pasta dish or cheese. We asked for an outside table. We were told none were available even though there was one when we arrived and it remained vacant until we left. read more

My husband and I went here to celebrate our first anniversary (on 03/26/12... I'm slow lol). It was a wonderful experience! My husband loves seafood and said his mussels and the other thing he got (I don't remember what it was because I hate seafood and was trying not to pay attention lol) was some of the best he's ever had. I love their portion size. Most restaurants give you way too much to eat and I found the chicken and potatoes I ordered were just the perfect size. I also tried the chocolate martini. I NEVER get things like that. Oh my god, it was amazing! Our waiter, upon finding out it was our anniversary, brought us the check with a plate from the kitchen that had a Happy Anniversary written in chocolate and raspberry on it. It was so nice of them to do that without even being asked or prompted. We were just out sharing a special night and they made it one to remember. Thank you for the wonderful experience! read more

Recently I decided to go back and give it another shot. I'm glad that I did. The Chicken Française was very, very good. My companion also liked their meal. The server was very attentive without being in the way. Clearly they were having an off night when we were there for Valentine's Day. I'd wholeheartedly recommend this as an option for folks to try. .................. Original 1-star review on 2/15/17: I was here about a year or so ago and was very pleased to find out that my husband had made reservations there for Valentine's Day. I know it's Valentines and to not judge too harshly. And, that as the night rolls on it gets...crazy. To avoid that he made a 6:30 reservation. My happiness was short lived. First, my Cosmo was only so-so. It was weak and too sugary. The wine pour, a very tasty shiraz, was a decent size. Points for that. I ordered a pork shoulder dish with winter vegetables. For $24 I expect two things: to look at it not think "That's it? Ripoff." and that it tastes more spectacular than I could do at home. I was very disappointed on both counts. The winter vegetables? The few that were served were dry, underdone, and fairly tasteless with absolutely no caramelization. The 4 or 5 very thin slices of pork continued the theme of dry and tasteless--but one-upped the veggies by being dry AND tough. They should/could have added green beans or something else as the portion size was extremely small. I took four or five bites, put my utensils down and pushed my meal aside. For $24 I expect to be knocked off my feet. I wasn't. My darling husband offered to swap his meal for mine (he had the cannelloni). I had just a couple bites of that meal and pushed that away as well. The sauce needed something, more stove time for sure plus more spices, like garlic and perhaps (more?) basil to keep a light fresh taste that the chef seemed to be going for (and failed). The filling was only okay. Honestly, I could make better sauce and cheesy fillings at home. Disappointed again. As to this fabled service? She was very pleasant but that's where it falls apart. When she asked if the meal was to our liking she failed to notice and address the fact that the meals had been switched (and that I had pushed the pasta dish aside). Good waitstaff should notice these things, inquire why and address any problems. She didn't. I left hungry and very unhappy. Not exactly a romantic Valentine's Day dinner is that? read more

Very good restaurant. One of two 'fine dining' options in Keene (or as close to 'fine dining' as you will find in town). Prices are decent - people perceive it as a very expensive place, but if you had the pasta special it's about $15 and comes with salad. Of course you CAN spend a ton if you want to, and you will probably want to - especially when you hear the specials which are always incredible. Good wine selection, especially by the bottle. I have recently moved to Keene and I was looking for a nice place to eat with my folks who had helped with my move. Basically, I owed them big-time. My parents are New Yorkers, and therefore by breed, food snobs. Luca was perfect! We sat at the lovely cafe tables on the street and enjoyed the weather while eating a variety of Mediterranean treats. To start, we shared the large Greek salad and the roasted hearts of palm with beets. The Greek salad was good, but not outstanding. It had grilled tomatoes, which I thought was an interesting choice. Interesting is not necessarily good. However, the artichokes made up for the tomato issue. These were not out of a jar or can, my friends. So yummy! The hearts of palm were delicious and the nutty flavor was perfectly off-set by the sweetness of the beets. For dinner, we had the Lamb Skewers with Tzatziki, Chicken Francese, and Tagliatelle Bolognese (which is listed as Orecchiette, but the waitress informed us it had been changed). The lamb was delicious and was served with julienned vegetables and Israeli couscous. As for the Francese, the large piece of chicken could have been pounded thinner, but that is a preference thing. The balance between the lemon and wine in the sauce was impecable. It was served with the same veggies and mashed potatoes. However, the all-star of the meal was the pasta. The noodles were clearly homemade, and were deliciously light. The sauce had a rich tomato flavor which accompanied the flavor of the beef perfectly. There was also an undertone of red-wine which really highlighted the depth of the sauce. The waitress let us know that they are also serving this dish with spinach in it. Mom doesn't like spinach, so we went without. We didn't suffer a bit. Overall, Luca is a jewel for the region...but would put up some serious competition outside of Keene as well. We will definitely be back. Mom and dad have been convinced that you don't have to starve outside of New York. read more

Luca's is absolutely fabulous! I love the atmosphere, (inside and outside) the staff is usually very polite and attentive. Luca definitely strives, and succeeds, to continuously provide his customers with wonderful Mediterranean cuisine and lovely wine in a very classy setting. The price is of course a little higher than what you would typically find in Keene, but it is very well worth it!
