My family of four dined here on a Friday evening around 5:30 p.m. The restaurant is big, and it quickly got busy and filled up, which is a good sign. It got very loud with everyone talking on top of the 70s/80s music that was playing. There were ample staff to keep up with the surge, and our waitress was attentive and pleasant, although toward the end a little scattered. The decor is fun, if not a bit dated. Bathrooms are clean. We ordered a garlic bread appetizer which provided 8 pieces of bread. We ordered the Chicken Marsala, chicken Parmesan sandwich, chicken Parmesan with pasta, and chicken Olympia. I had a bowl of flavorful minestrone before my dinner, my spouse had a house salad. Unfortunately my coffee was cold, but it was bold and tasted okay. They don't list non-alcoholic beverages on the menu or their prices. My spouse ordered just a plain iced tea, but we were shocked when the bill came and we were charged for each of the refills ($10.50!). My daughter ordered a lemonade, which came in a cute branded bottle. It was very good, not too tart or sweet. After dinner, we each ordered dessert: Choco cake which has a cute little mouse on top, the orange revani which was extremely sweet, and the limoncello cake which was by far the best of the three with a delicate flavor. The servings of food were generous and we were impressed with the quality, especially the chicken. We could easily cut through it with a fork. The sauces were pleasant and not acidic. For the four of our meals (with leftovers) and the tip (and the insane charges for the iced tea) we paid $197, which I felt was somewhat reasonable. I just wish they were more upfront about their beverage prices and refill policy. Most restaurants don't charge for tea and coffee refills. read more

We had my husband's retirement party at the banquet room. The room was set up beautifully, the waitresses helped us with the microphone and music, and were attentive to our needs as the party hosts. Then, the waitresses (Rechelle and Mary) took care of everything in such a professional way. They took everything off of our shoulders. They even commented about how nice the tributes were to my husband. There were 38 total guests in the lovely venue and it all went off swimmingly. We are here pretty regularly, wether with family, celebrating birthdays, date nights. It's a good restaurant and we know much of the staff. The food is good, and it's a nice atmosphere. The second Papa Parrot at the end of the meal was a little heavy on the Blue Curaçao, but was still very good. We ordered the Calamari Fritti to start our meal. Overall, the calamari was quite good. The coating wasn't too heavy or thick, and the calamari was cooked properly. However, it was a little greasier than it should have been. We both agreed that our entrees were fantastic. We had the Chicken Parmigiana & Chicken Marsala. The portions were spot on, the chicken with both meals was tender, and flavors of the sauces were excellent. The linguini was perfectly al dente. The Marsala wine sauce was some of the best I've had in a while. We opted to order a desert, which is not the norm for us. We chose the Baklava Sundae. The dish was plated beautifully and full of the flavor you'd expect. The bottom of the baklava was a bit hard, which made it difficult to cut and fork, but it was still good. Overall, it's worth making a trip to Papagallos for a great Italian meal. The atmosphere was nice, with interesting parrot-themed decor. Usually good any night of the week. Last night was the exception for the 4 ladies who dined with me. Chicken parm was soggy, pasta over done and sauce needed salt. Veal parm was soggy as well atheist pasta was good Al dente. Sauce needed salt. One of the girls didn't enjoy their steak. Over done at medium well when requested mid-rare. Service was ok. I was in town for work and craving chicken Parmesan. I did not want it with pasta so they offered grilled vegetables instead or for a small up charge doubling portion, which is really what I was looking for. It did not disappoint. Absolutely love the restaurant. The food is always fantastic and there's singing about eating around a bunch of parrot statues that just adds to the experience. My wife and I celebrated several birthdays here, as well as our rehearsal dinner the day before our wedding. The chicken Marsala and veal parm are some of the best I've event had. read more

Wife got the broiled haddock which was very good. I was looking for their steak options on the menu. Not a single one in sight. No steaks on the menu....but their sign outside says what again? I had to ask our server and she told us they had a steak special. Not several steak specials, but just one. NY strip marinated in olive oil. I was skeptical since NY strip is good on its own, but since I can't eat pasta, I opted to give it a try. It was fine. Tasted like steak, but nothing special. For The price of $36 it was not worth it. Would we go again?. Possibly. I was craving eggplant parm and I wasn't disappointed. I ended up pulling in and sitting up at the bar for a margarita, a cup of minestrone and my entrée and was so happy. I ended up only eating half of the meal but it was perfect. I brought the rest home and had that as a late night snack. I have visited Papagallos twice. I frequently travel to the area on business. The service is efficient, friendly and not rushed. I highly recommend the lobster ravioli. It is a frequent special that is offered here. My colleague ordered a NY Strip steak that was described as flavorful and cooked properly a just shy of medium rare - as requested. Pleasant, uniquely decorated atmosphere. I highly recommend this restaurant. Don't let the number of cars scare you off. Our service was prompt, attentive and very comforting. It was very close in style to the high end Italian restaurants in NY, in a rural city.Prices were reasonable and portions were large. The menu was short, but the traditional offerings were offset by specials that almost made me change my mind. The decor is full of plaster tropical birds, faux stone and was quirky, not tacky.
