My annual thanksgiving meal at Luby's to enjoy Turkey and Stuffing LuAnn Platter. They are extremely consistent in their cooking and love their food. Once again the turkey was tasty and the stuffing delightful. In the past year have dined here several times and recommend the square fried fish and fried chicken. I noticed the pork chops and will give it a try on my next visit. The service and atmosphere is always excellent, and the cafeteria is always perfectly clean. It's great place to bring your elderly parents or grandparents to.

$19!

Not much to complain about since this is really a bang for your buck type meal! You get what you see and pay fore. I grew up eating southern food in cafeteria Styled restaurants just like Luby's and it really brought me nostalgia and comfort. For a first timer here, it's a lot to take in. I wish the food bar had more labels cause there were none. The food on the hot bar looks fresh and hot lol. My partner and I Were interested in many things but settled for a steak and fried chicken. Sides looked delicious as well but we weren't going to grab everything as we knew we weren't going to finish it all. I got a buttered corn side and cabbage side plus a wheat roll with my entree. And my Husband grabbed mac and cheese and cornbread for his steak. Most items were rather on the salty side but that's okay. The dining area was clean, has high chairs, and very nice patrons who kept my daughter entertained while we ate, Our total was $19 for food items which you pay before sitting down and we left a cash tip after our meal! Would definitely return!

Pork chop dinner

Luby's...well...it's for a particular crowd. It's got homey vibes with an older clientele. I got the blackened tilapia and my daughter got the pork chop. It comes with 2 sides and bread, I think? No one really explained how it worked and since we were new customers, we just went with the flow. My kid wanted a dessert, but the plastic boxes were too hard to peruse with a line behind us. The price was fine for what we got, but with a run down atmosphere and buffet style table service, I don't know if it was all worth it. I'll be frank. This is the type of place you end up at when you're hangry, not close enough to something you really want, nor can everyone decide on what they want. It's a place holder. But, I must say the older crowd seemed to love it. They sat around like it was their dining room. Fish was cooked well, but the sadly pork chop was dry. The sides were fine, nothing notable. I won't be back, but I wish the place well for the sake of their die hard frequent customers.

Fresh made pies and cakes displayed perfectly.

A great memory of Luby's that I hope is available for years for all those who grew up eating in cafeterias like Luby's, Piccadilly, Furr's, Wyatt's and Morrisons along with the many other mom and pop cafeterias that were and still are mainstays in their communities with generational customers. The Luby's on W Slaughter at the time of these photos was at the top of their game and I always enjoying dining there every opportunity I could. There's something for everyone which is why Luby's has been a choice for families in Texas for many decades.

Error on order, and long holds. When a manager finally got on the call hard to understand, hear, and was really no help.

Four tvs on one side with various slots on and captions were in two of the four. Lots of beer on tap and I got the Cuban mojito. Very tasty however the mint didn't looked to be muddled as it was still full leaves. I ordered the chicken fried chicken with a loaded baked potato and the dressed Brussels sprouts. This also comes with a cheddar biscuit. Everything for food was delicious and I wished there were more Brussels sprouts. The chicken friend chicken had a crispy breading and the gravy went well. Music was questionable when I walked in and the variety was there. Love Come down - Evelyn King to Magic Carpet Ride - Steppenwolf (thank goodness for Shazam). Service was good, got greeted right away upon entering and then again once seated at the bar.

The $6 frozen margarita is HUGE. Well drinks for $3!? Awesome. I love the crab cakes and also enjoyed the veggie burger. The tater kegs are good, but HUGE lol. My fiance also enjoyed the burger and nachos. We live nearby now, so we will definitely be back. When you join the rewards club you get coupons right away. Nice service from our waitresses both times we went. The world cup was playing during our first visit, so I'm curious to see what football games they'll be playing. Good new to us spot when we just want to sit somewhere inside and relax.

Their fried chicken sandwich was audibly crisp with fresh tomato and lettuce that I made two meals out of. To end the perfect meal... my husband actually coordinated with staff to create "Gender Reveal" pancakes! I didn't realize what they were until I got to the yummy surprise! Their cream is delicious! The pancakes were soft and sweet! The experience, unforgettable. It brought happy tears to my eyes and we really appreciate the thought and care put into our day. I couldn't decide what I wanted so I went with the eggs Benedict which came with hash brown casserole. I also got a lemonade. My traveling partner got the Bacon Basil Tomato omelet with smoked cheddar and garlic aioli. We also got an order of ricotta pancakes with strawberries. My eggs Benedict was served on a unique bread - not a traditional English muffin - that kind of fell apart as I ate it. The flavor was great though. I should have gotten regular home fries, because the hashbrown casserole was cheesy and I wanted something to soak up the hollandaise and egg. The pancakes were so light they fell right apart when we began cutting into them. The flavor was great though. I would definitely recommend Phoebes.

This location is great - the inside is very vibe-y and I loved the decor and old school lighting by our 2 person booth. Our server was friendly and prompt, easily able to speak about questions on the menu. We tried a few things: -My friend ordered a "shrub" drink and I guess we didn't realize that meant with vinegar so, she didn't like it. It was good - just bitter. -We ordered the -Poblano and Cheddar biscuits to start which were DELICIOUS -Avocado Toastada - my friend didn't love this but I did -Migas - very good and not something I can order usually in VA -Ricotta Toast - fresh and filling with tons of berries I liked the outdoor patio (when not 110 degrees in August) and the walk-up window to order pastries and drinks quickly. All in all - love this spot and would and will likely come back again on another visit to Austin.

Favorites: Lil Remi (used to be the Lil Billy I think?) - one of my favorite coffees ever. Their pastries - we usually try one or two each time and love all, especially the poptart. I wish they would bring back the guava croissant one! The empanada is also so good. Maple sausage - you may think how good can sausage be, but it's amazing. Chocolate chip pancake - their pancake is huge, fluffy, but crisp on the outside. It's delicious, but so filling. My husband loves their BEC, the chicken biscuit, and he used to love the chopped cheese.
