I had coffee and egg and bagel sandwich... so so so good. We will be back next time we are in town.

They have a good amount of seats and it wasn't too packed when I was here, there were still a lot of open seats, maybe because it was in the morning. I had the breakfast bagel with sausage and it was pretty good, simple with two sausage patties, freshly fried egg and within the everything bagel it was simply awesome. I also ordered the chocolate muffin which was also pretty good. It was different from other muffins I've had before because it tasted fresh and had a good amount of chocolate chips and some of the chocolate was liquidy too. It's a bit confusing, but to order you walk all the way to the back and then turn right and go up the stairs to order. They have a large option of items to choose from like muffins, fruits, bagels, and almost anything you'd want for breakfast on the go. read more

I just recently transitioned to a plant based diet and was looking for some breakfast options in my neighborhood. I saw this place with "vegan cream cheese" and decided to take my pups for walk and give it a go. Nice interior and feels like a true quaint cafe! The menus has tons of options. I ordered the bagel with vegan cream cheese and the chef accidentally made me the veggie bagel so I got upgraded and I was not disappointed. This is a quaint little cafe that serves up some delicious bagel sandwiches! Santos (the cafe owner) was extremely friendly from the moment we stepped through the doors. He helped us select some delicious bites and also threw in 2 iced coffees! The ice is made with cubes of iced coffee so it doesn't become too diluted. That's a win in my book! This place has a weird floor plan. You have to walk all the way to the back and up a few stairs and turn left before you can see the menu board. IMO the prices are too high and the portions too small. The bagel sandwich my friend had looked OK and she liked it well enough but she was almost entirely finished with it before they even brought my soup and sandwich out. My sandwich was dry and tiny. My soup was bland and there was no pepper to be found; I didn't go back to the counter to ask for some because it had already taken them so long to get it to me I didn't want my lunch guest to have to sit there and watch me slurp after she was done eating. Progresso makes a better clam chowder IMO. The decor had a good look to it but I found those long thin wavy tables awkward to navigate around. If I ever go back I'm getting a bagel sandwich. read more

Entering the front door of L's exposes one to a cafe environment that deviates significantly from the San Francisco norm. While the vast majority of local coffee houses shoot for an atmosphere of gender-neutrality, L's has taken a different tack and created a space where the artwork, decor, and furniture have a distinctively feminine feel to them. Absent is the usual earth-tone paint scheme that's de-rigor for surrounding coffee shops, replaced by a soothing hue of yellow that blends pleasantly with sunlight coming in through the windows facing 24th Street. Lighting is tastefully subdued and LCD friendly, but still bright enough so that it isn't printed-material hostile, and though wall decor is sparse, it's skillful placement manages to fill out it's surroundings. I found the coffee to be very soft, subtle, and without a hint of acidity. Kudos for placing the sugar and creme station in a position that doesn't create a bottleneck during rush hour. Natural sugar is available in packets :-) Brown sugar wasn't :-( A wide range of goodies including Truck-stop sized sandwiches (what I had for lunch) are available for $5.95 along with an assortment of breads (including dutch crunch....yeah!) from which to build them. A small bar sits in the back, while a visible wine rack and three beer taps (Anchor, Heineken, and Pyramid) sit behind the counter. The ever-so-pleasant customer area has a collection of 4 and 2 person tables, all flanked with rather comfortable chairs equipped with cast-metal frames and padded seats. An earthy floor comprised of adobe-hued tiles rounds out a mission-esqe ambiance, While two love-seat style couches have their backs to the windows in front. An outdoor bench sits on the sidewalk, but it's southerly exposure prevents morning sunshine from hitting it. Other welcoming nuances include an exceptionally pleasant staff and a sign attached to a small but fully-stocked bookshelf sitting against the West wall. It offers a warm but simple invitation...."Bring a book....Take a book". Laptop friendly power outlets are copious along the West wall, though somewhat sparse on the East....and though a wifi signal is present, it's locked down, and I didn't feel like badgering the staff for a WEP key. The crowd? Largely quiet and solitary. It's broad in it's age range and isn't dominated by any particular group or scene. Still, the somewhat feminine accent on decor seems to have appealed to the fairer of our species, as evidenced by a customer base that's noticeably heavier on women. L's is free from dominant-crowd exclusivity that makes first-time visitors wonder if they've stumbled into the wrong scene. It's tranquil vibe and soft music contribute to an atmosphere that's devoid of mating-dance tension and youthful angst. Furthermore, it manages to blend with it's working class surroundings instead of coming off as part of a pre-invasion task force from Noe Valley. And though it lacks the musty charm of many coffee shops I frequent, it makes amends by coming off as mildly artsy while not in the least bit pretentious. All in all? It's a spot to consider making your regular hang if you're in the hood, into light snacks, and not big on morning chitchat. read more

A sweet little place. Loungy organic spend the afternoon coffee house with homemade tasties from local start up food providers, free wifi, all in tune with the neighborhood. Deserves two awards, the Nobel Prize for earnestness and best iced tea ever. A vast menu of other things -- ten or more wines by the glass for $4.50, licuados, Mexican wedding cookies, meat pies, shrimp salad....listing them would take forever. The owner, who is always there, loves children. In fact, she is always warm and caring, will take extra time to explain and prepare just right. If there were any justice she would be Mayor. Lucky for us cafe lovers, she isn't. read more

This is my new favorite neighborhood spot. I probably say that more than I should, but I really mean it this time. The owners are warm and the atmosphere mirrors their personalities. I love that the tables are spacious enough to fit your laptop, books, drinks without feeling like you'll spill and make a mess of things. The tea selection is good, my tea of the moment is the green tea/pear from David Rio. The veggie empanadas, like the coffee are good too. Everything is organic, and the pastries are actually fresh and not stale. There are two couches in the front and a few book selections. The entire concept is well thought out, and considerate. For example, the bathroom light switch isn't your standard on/off fixture. No, this is one of those timer light switches. You simply set the dial for the amount of time the lights are to be left ON, and the lights will go OFF automatically when that time expires. Lights aren't needlessly left on. Genius. There is even a recycling bin, and signs posted by the napkins about not taking more of them than you need. It's always good to remind people about that. Overall this is the type of neighborhood business that you root for, and reward with return trips. read more

This is my go to spot for breakfast, coffee and shared space. I have a pretty serious desire for their BLT on a jalapeño bagel several times a week. They have a chipotle cream cheese that just makes it heaven and it's totally affordable. And speaking of doing it right, the people who work here are perfect. They are friendly, easy to talk to and generally make me feel like a neighbor. I live one block away, but some of the spots right outside my door don't always do that. A posh "laptop and headphone" coffee shop sits directly across the street but I do my work and writing here because it's a community rather than a collection of silent strangers, and I actually do work in tech just like everyone inside "The Lump." I guess I'm the kind of tech guy who wants less tech and more people in this life. I don't want to harsh the Lumpers, but it's nice to have a homey spot I can call my own. Interestingly, with both locations seemingly thriving, this spot on 24th street might be one small example of the integrated coexistence of both the corporate, worked to the bone newcomers and the Mission's valuable cultural essence. I know I'm putting my patronage behind L's, and I encourage everyone to give them a try. read more

L's Cafe was great! After much online searching, we found this on Yelp and made our way over. It was great to find a cozy, home-like coffee shop in a new city. The staff we really friendly and the line and service to the table were top speed. My friend and I had probably one of the best vegan veggie-hummus sandwiches I've had in a long, long time. They had some really nice art on the walls, the decor was simple and clean, and there were bookshelves crammed with books. There is also outdoor seating and wi-fi. A nice stop before you get your day of running around the town started. read more

Finally a coffee shop in the hood that is comfortable and welcoming and has great coffee. The two sister who run this place are the warmest and most welcoming people on this street. Even when they are busy, they always make you feel like you are the only customer that matters. They serve only organic and fair trade coffee which is a hug plus! Their pastries, sandwiches, and salads are all very yummy. They occasionally have live music, so check in to find out what's on the calendar. An additional plus is that they have a super fast wireless connection for free! read more

One of the last Cafes with outlets so you can plug your laptop in. It seems like all the other cafes in the city are getting rid of their outlets so we don't hog their juice. The seats are highly uncomfortable, it looks run-down, and the prices are a bit higher than other coffee shops. I wouldn't consider this a great cafe; this is an okay cafe. Awesome coffee shop in one of my favorite parts of the Mission (even though I don't get down here nearly enough). Much to love: - Massive yogurt parfaits, with generous portions of fruit and non-fat vanilla yogurt. At $3.75, not a massive price. - Free wifi, with outlets near the couches. A very rare find. - Delicious coffee, perfect for an afternoon kick after a somewhat late night - Good eats. A bunch of stuff on the menu looked good, and I went with the tofu and almond salad. It was about twice the size as I was expecting, and no dressing as requested. All for $5.50. - Very friendly service. This is definitely one of my favorite cafes in the city. read more

Good things come in small sizes. The cozy atmosphere seems like a great place to relax solo, or gather with friends like the last time I was there. I especially like the tables for 4, big enough to play board games on. L's is a great compliment shoppe to the Sugarlump across the street. For example, you can actually get Torini here. Actually, the staff went out of their way create the drink I was craving which wasn't exactly on the menu (Vanilla French Soda), and I've never had a coffee shoppe drink in a glass that big! BLT Bagel was delicious too! I'm looking forward to going back again for some quality time with me and my laptop. read more

It's a nice cafe in this neighbor hood. Not many people on Saturday lunch time. You do see some people just drinking coffee and stay long in the cafe. The food we ordered all really good. Especially, I like my egg Benedict with Lux (smoked salmon). It's good combination not too cheesy and still be able to have my favorite poached egg. read more

So, I saw that L's Caffe was hot on Yelp for a while and since I'm currently OBSESSED with 24th Street in the Mission (or the Motrero, as I like to call it--and you should too!), I was anxious to try it out. I passed by it many a lazy Sunday but their menu never really tempted me enough to pass up a torta or brunch at St. Francis, for example. Just seemed like a boring sandwich/salad place. And in the end, I suppose it is a "boring" sandwich/salad place but when I finally got around to trying it out I have to admit, "boring" ended up being quite delicious. The woman who took my order was lovely and the place has a nice, local feel to it with the eclectic furniture and chalk menu. My ham and swiss sandwich, which was delivered to me at my table with a smile, was served on perfect warm crunchy-but-not-too-crunchy french bread. The sandwich was well-balanced and the ingredients were high quality. My half-salad (Spinach and avocado) was also excellent-- nicely accented with crispy bacon and crumbly cheese. I ate every bite and since it was a salad, I could even feel good about myself after (although I'm pretty sure the addition of bacon immediately takes any salad out of the healthy food column). So yea, it took me a while to commit but I gotta say, I'm a fan of L's. Will definitely come back with a book for a quiet, homey, "boring" lunch. read more

What's up with the amazing Chai in this place? Cinnamon-y and delicious. Though you may want to ask for it extra hot if you want it served hot. Unlike its sterile and hipster-ish neighbors (think Haus Coffee) this feels like your sitting in a comfy living room. I'm loving the soft rock playing in the background and the atmosphere is perfect for studying and people watching The chairs are super comfortable and if you can turn the strange S-shaped tables length wise, it is plenty of room for a laptop and books. Also, there is a whole wall with plugs and what seems like unusually high speed public internet. The folks that come to this place are from the neighborhood and its always to great to support Latino owned businesses. read more

If you love someone and they've just dumped you like a bag of turds -- and you're simultaneously really craving a meal bagel -- L's Caffe would be the best place to go cry while you choked on breakfast. This sleepy cafe is like an instant tranquilizer. A muffled radio plays in the distance with songs right out of a WB teen drama while young people act as quiet extras in your drama landscape around you, reading books and doing their computer things. It's melancholy. I was kind of sad. Then I got over it and ate. What to get here: Coffee!!! The more-cinamonny-than-Starbucks Chai Latte is heavenly here. There's also a Grab n go deli, sweets, bagels, salads, sandwiches, and soups all reasonably priced ... but the fresh OJ at 3.50 is a little steep. The decor seems mundane at first, but there's one of a kind quirky political paintings all around and a bizarre selection of books to grab and borrow. You can also get hammered here with your mom with a (limited) beer on tap, and wines by the glass as well. The happy hour knocks a buck off drinks from Mon-fri 4:7pm. I came in for brunch and had a soup and salad combo and my friends had bagel sandwiches. We dug it. I'd eat here every day if this was near my house. read more

A friend of mines showed me this place. I was a bit unsure walking up, but then I saw it and I knew it was going to be a place I will frequent. The atmosphere is great. Lots of seating and Wi-Fi. The food is good. PB&J Wheat Bagels are my favorite. The service here is great. I love their attitude and the way the talk and treat customers. I come here pretty much weekly at this point. Convenient location (it takes me 5 min to get here from work) and a cozy atmosphere - it doesn't get any better than this! Admittedly, the menu was on the sparse side, limited to sandwiches, salads and bagels and maybe some side items like soups, etc. For some reason, I was expecting a wider range of items. Eventually, I settled on the roast beef sandwich on a dutch crunch roll and it was awesome. The size doesn't compare to what you get from a real deli but if it did, they would be putting a lot of places out of business! The roll itself was very crunchy, like it'd been toasted. I'm not used to it this way and to be honest I didn't really like it to begin with. But the more of it I ate, the more I liked the texture. I just wish they could've packed it with more meat/condiments. With it, I ordered a glass of regular iced tea and the slight peachy-lemon flavor was a nice surprise. They've got tables that can accomodate 2-4 if you're in a "personal, do not disturb" mood (most folks were on laptops so apparently there is wi-fi present). On the flipside, they have a "booth" of sorts, made up of a couple sofas facing each other with a coffee table in between. I can see how that could be real fun with a bunch of co-workers. I'm always on the hunt for new spots near work and this place has just been added to my list of favorites. read more

Came here to try their banana caramel french toast, chai tea. Ol'man ol'man, I was pleased. Everything is freshly made to order, salads are made the day of and the ladies are so nice, pleasant. I must say I will be back to try their cobb salad and some more of their french toast! read more

L's gets 4 stars for drinks, I've gotten a Mexican hot chocolate and a mocha there and they've been great. It's a great place to study and read. I'd only give them about 2-3 stars for food though. I mean, serves me right for eating dinner at a coffee shop. My best friend got the crepe which was disappointing and I got a half sandwich and half salad. eh. The coffee here is so good I want to bathe in it, I think. The bagels are also super delicious -- the hummus and veggie one especially, and I've heard good things about the ones with eggs. Friendly staff, nice atmosphere, and they didn't even care that we sat here for three hours and played board games (ahem, Settlers, nerds!). :) They have wine and beer, too, so I'll be back for later-in-the-day libations soon. read more

Very cute. I've walked by this place several times on the way home from work and always think "free wi-fi, well, I should check it out sometime." Sometime finally came today as I needed a distraction- (read: TV-) free environment to get some work done. The organic food was tasty... I had a vegetarian sandwich on foccasia, a mocha and a chocolate chip cookie. The lady working the counter today was super friendly, moreso than anyone I've ever ordered food from in San Francisco (and that includes the French waiter at Levende Lounge who went on and on about e. coli in spinach and on the skin of watermelons) before now. Since today was Sunday, it was pretty slow in there through the afternoon, but I appreciated that it was quiet and laid back. Now, if only they had a patio or sidewalk seating where I could smoke, eat nummy food, sip latte drinks, and work on my laptop at the same time... then it would be perfect. At least the trade off is a two minute walk home. read more

First let me say that I don't understand the number of cafe's in this city, there are two on this same block. This place definately deserves my business so I am very loyal to it, even though the hired help isn't that great. I love the artistic decor especially the stained glass windows. The white chocolate mochas are excellent here so I look forward to demanding one from my bed everymorning. One of my favorite spots along 24th to just chill, do some paperwork or just people-watch. There's your choice of sofa or booth and a pretty good menu if you decide to have something with a cup of their terrific coffee. Five stars for friendliness and sister-iness, but only three or four for decor and vibe. The interior is bright and clean -- no major problems -- just not a beacon of sophistication, artiness, and good design (yes, I'm qualified to make this judgment; my mom is a licensed home stager...). Reasonable prices. And I DO love the fact that there is a mini-wine bar. Ever cafe should have this feature. On the weekday that I chose to visit L's, it was pretty darn unpopulated. The music was set to a reasonable decibel level (thanks, ladies), though -- as a friend pointed out -- it was strongly reminiscent of elementary school roller skating parties. I'm not going to state whether I consider this to be good or bad, but I will note that Sir Elton John is a real champ, musically and otherwise. read more

I ate here twice during my stay in the Mission District in San Francisco. Everything I had was good, freshly made and well presented. The chai latte was hot and frothy and good. First day I had the veggie bagel and added egg and spinach (in the pic) since I knew I had a long day ahead. Mostly I wanted all those good veggies: cucumber, sprouts, tomato and it came with hummus.
