This salon is unprofessional and ill mannered when it comes to customer service. The man who did my nails, Richard, was rude and kept having me adjust my seat while simultaneously making scoffing noises under his breath. He rushed my nails and one of them is shorter than its counterpart on my left hand. I got them painted a mint chip color and one hand is slightly lighter than the other signifying that he didn't dip it enough times in the ANC powder. All in all terrible job, terrible service. I am a college student who wanted to treat herself. I am not from this area and use public transportation everywhere. The walk from the bus stop is not terrible, when I arrived it was around 12pm a busy time. Yet the moment I got in there they took me right away! I came here on a whim. I really needed a pedicure and my normal place was booked. The other Yelp reviews outshined all the other nail salons in the area so I took a chance. This may be my new place. It is modern and clean with an impressive selection of color choices. I like that everyone's Department of State license was displayed as was the business license and the Nail Worker's Bill of Rights. The employees wear name tags which is nice because you know who you are talking to and can schedule with them in the future without having to ask for their name. I didn't have an appointment but was was greeted at the door immediately and they were able to do a pedicure. I did come in the middle of the day on a Thursday so I didn't expect a wait. They were busy enough that I will schedule an appointment next time. I was presented with a full menu of pedicure options. I chose a green tea spa pedicure which included a 15 minute leg and foot massage. They are serious - she set a timer. The pedicures are 5 stars. They are luxurious and fantastic - I highly recommend the splurge ($45) every once in a while. Unlike any pedicure I've had in the area and I've tried almost every place in the area. On the other hand, my gel manicure removal gets 2 stars. To remove my gel polish, the nail tech sanded off the existing gel to the point where she was sanding off my actual nail and it started to hurt. Do not let them go crazy sanding off the old gel! Best nail salon I've been to by far. Nice people, clean, they take their time. I was recommended by a coworker that always has beautiful nails and just got my second set of anc tips from them and am super happy. My last ones that were also beautiful lasted about 3 weeks and could've went longer but there was a lot of nail growth and one fell off from me hitting it. I have found my new pedicure spot! I decided to give them a try after a friend suggested them. I am SO glad I did! I went in to get a pedicure around 7pm, after a full and busy day. I was expecting a half-hearted leg and foot massage per the usual in this area. Was I wrong! Joy gave me the best leg and foot massage I have had in a LONG time. She took her time, tending to my sorest points, my ankles and arches. She did a wonderful job with my polish, cut my nails perfectly, and finished off with paraffin for my heels. The salon was empty except for 1 customer when I went in at 5:30 to check it out. I made an appointment for 7pm, and when I returned, there was still only one other patron there. GET there before word gets out how AWESOME they are! Serene music and relaxing pedi chairs make the experience all the better. I was given a complimentary water bottle. While my toes dried under the fan, Joy continued to impress me by giving me a short but effective neck and shoulder massage! JOY is GREAT!!! When I went to pay, I found the pedicure only cost $25! I found this place after a random Google/yelp search and decided to try it out. I had had not so great experiences at another place and the reviews for most places in this area weren't the greatest. This place is wonderful! It's easy to find, lots of parking, never super packed with people and it's calm and relaxing. I got a Lavender Spa Pedi, which was awesome. The older gentleman giving me my pedicure gave the most excellent leg massage ever (included in the spa pedi). He took his time and did a great job. Amazing nail salon! I've lived in the area for less than a year and have gone to about 4 other nail salons before finding this one. They were all hit or miss. LR Nail is the first place that I've been to where I was more than satisfied! I got a pedicure which included a 10 minute leg/foot massage. I then got my tips filled & it turned out awesome. Amy was careful, fixed them up from the last place I went to, & took her time. I got a hand massage & hot towel, which I love. She gave me a short shoulder massage too as my nails were drying! Clearly, from previous reviews, this is a hit or miss place. My daughter and I went in for an ANC mani and a regular pedi. Pedi 1st. We were seated at the pedicure station, handed a Menu of pedicure services and asked to make a quick decision. Prices started at $36 and went up (way up) from there. We chose the $36 and were given a nice pedi with a 10 minute massage. I later saw a list of services posted at the front desk with a basic pedicure for $25. That's what we had wanted, but this basic pedi was not listed on their "quick decision" menu. Then the ANC manicure. I had previous gel polish on that needed to be removed and the tech soaked my nails in foil wrapped cotton with acetone. One method of removing. That was fine. After sitting for about 20 minutes with the acetone, the tech had a difficult time removing the gel. She used a sharp metal tool to aggressively scrape off the gel. Digging pretty deep. As she applied the ANC, I noticed she forgot a nail here and there and got out of order with product application. Then came the filing. She CUT MY FINGER, I jumped. She apologized and went on. Then the drill. 2 BURNS. After she applied another potion, the cut and burns were on fire. The end result ...sub par. All different shaped nails and the cuticles are covered with product. I'm so amazed I did not have to wait , and my nail tech Anna was so patient. At first I was a little skeptical because a full set is 35 dollars but it all worth it. This is the first time all my nails are all even and no smears from hitting the dryer . My nails are so beautiful ! This was my first time at L R Nails to try someplace new. I arrived to my 2 o'clock appointment 15 minutes early and my appointment began at 2:05. So far my experience started great, by the time we got to my nails Jason who was my nail tech was really rough with the way he handled my hands. He would toss them when he was finished with one and moved on to the next. I asked him to repaint a nail due to the coat was wayyyy too thick for my liking, he replied that he didn't see anything wrong with it and brought over a co-worker who understood my complaint. Worst experience ever! The first few times I went, everything was great but then the last three times I went, I had to wait 30 minutes each time even though I had an appointment. I even called and asked when is a good time to go that I wouldn't have to wait and they said I would not have to wait which was a lie. They gave me coupons for the long wait I experienced and then would not let me use them the next time I returned, they guy was very rude to me and said everyone has to wait not just me. Went to this establishment 10 minutes after my scheduled appointment with my friend for two pedicures and two gel manicures. I called them ahead of time to let them know I'd be running a few minutes late due to traffic and was immediately hung up on. When speaking to her a second time the women on the phone rudely told me to "hurry up". As we walked in I explained to the front desk worker that we were there for our appointment and he quickly told us to pick our colors. Soon after a man from the back swiftly emerged to let us know we were no longer able to get both services done due to the fact we were late. I understand that their time is valuable however the way they approached both interactions was unprofessional and down right rude. I was told about LR Nail by my sister in law and in particular the powdered nail dipping ANC manicure. Visiting Albany and wanting to get a mani-pedi as a little me-time and to look nicer for a wedding next week I took a chance on LR Nail. A very busy salon, I was able to get a same day appointment for a mani-pedi. My hubs came with me and was able to get a pedicure too. We were seated promptly in very comfy massage chairs (that were clean and worked), had a place for my purse and the tub was filled with nice warm water. Both my hubs and I chose the Honey Pedicure which was $11 more than the regular one but so worth it! It included scrubs, massage, callous removal as well as your standard pedicure. My nail tech was Emily who was very sweet and gentle. My sister in law likes gel pedicures so I paid $20 more for it and glad that I did. Lots of gel and ANC color choices and the owner Richard was very helpful in showing me the options and picking colors. Emily did a great job. Then I was led to the manicure table and Richard the owner did my nails. He was very gentle too and my nails look so much better. I got a shoulder and hand massage as part of the service. All in all I am happy with the work- I used to go twice/month for 20+ years for acrylics and am very picky about them. Based on the other reviews I thought there would be a problem with tipping but not a problem. If I lived in Albany I would be a regular customer. read more

I went in on a Friday after work and only waited 10 minutes because I didn't have an appointment. The salon was extremely clean and updated. Camille did a wonderful job. Honestly, I got a manicure and it's not bad but not great. First the nail tech cut my finger and also during my appointment him and another nail tech and her customer kept looking over at me and laughing and laughed immediately after he cut my finger. I don't understand what was funny about my presence but I felt they were being very rude . Then they had also seated me right next to someone during a pandemic who I didn't know and people kept waking in without Masks and i have no clue if they were vaccinated. I have been looking for a new salon that does UV liquid gel and found this salon online. I made an appointment and was very pleased with no having to wait. I was impressed.with how long it took from start to finish of my uv gel fill, not to happy with the design since I tried to explain that I wanted something that had to do with breast cancer awareness month and Halloween. I feel they wanted me out of the shop quickly as I look back, they kept putting oils all around me and on the files and on the back of the chair. They seemed to have a problem and wanted me gone. I am a very large women I do not say otherwise and instead of saying something to me they were rude and unprofessional. I love the color, not the design, I love that they don't have a TV on and it is music, but I can say the rest of the experience was awful for almost 70 bucks it was not worth feeling unwanted and shamed for being. I left feeling awful and disappointed. I would not recommend them if you have health issues or are large I truly believe that they were putting these oils which I had a bad reaction to and had hives for over 48 hours because they thought I smelled. Those oils were awful and smelled awful, but hey that is what is so nice about Albany they have many salons and I am sure a different one will have no issues with making money odd or me for I will not go back and maybe will have a lawyer see what they can do about the oils and my reaction. My opinion find a place that treats the customer like they are important and mean something ,and if issues arise say something for you assume and it makes an ass out of it you and me. 2 stars for speed and wait time otherwise no stars. read more

The first nail salon in the capitol region that I've gone to more than once! For me, that's a breakthrough! After only being willing to try regular old manicures that hardly lasted one day, I finally caved in and tried ANC, or powder dip nail polish here for the first time, as regular manicures never seem to last me more than a day or two. I was a little nervous about the process, as some reviews have said the ANC manicures hurt. Perhaps the grinding down of the powder on the nails with the polishing tool is a tad uncomfortable, but not painful. I also had one pedicure done here, and it has not chipped after two weeks, even after being barefoot on the beach. Basic pedicure was $25. I liked that I saw the tub of the pedicure chair being cleaned with Lysol after it was used. As for cleanliness overall, it seems that the salon uses disposable scrubby pads and files -- a new one for each guest. Though that can't be good for our planet, I appreciate it for sanitary purposes. The tools used also appeared freshly sterilized...with a few exceptions. I did not like that the heads of grinding/polishing tool -- used to smooth out the nail/powder during an ANC manicure -- was not sterilized between each use. The grinding of the nail causes a lot of small particles of powder/nail to fly everywhere (picture a power saw with the sawdust), coating the grinder, your hands, etc. When each technician took out the head of the polishing/grinding tool, I noticed on both of my visits that the box the heads were stored in and the tool itself looked powdery, as in -- dusted with nail/anc debris. Similarly, after using the tool on me, it went back into its carrying case, rather than being sterilized before storage. The salon also had powder brushes -- big blush brushes -- they used to wipe off the powdery debris from your hands. That does not appear to be cleaned between guests. I'm also not sure I love the fact that your nail is dipped directly into the color pot...along with everyone else's nails. So, although, on grander scale, the salon seems to do a fine job with sterilization, the ANC process could definitely use improvement in that area! I was a little put off by previous reviews that noted issues with tipping, because if a customer is giving a truly fair tip for the service provider, I don't think it is appropriate for the owner/technician/manager to comment or ask for more, but I did tip each of my technicians at least 20%, so I can't say I had any issues with that. The location is not easy to get to for me. I won't likely come here again after work, as the traffic on both Western Ave and the highway was atrocious. The parking lot is a little small, and has several businesses, so I could see it filling up. I won't likely be here too frequently, as it is out of the way for me, but likely a convenient option for Guilderland/uptown Albany residents, as there were many UA students there. Overall, LR nail comes in for me at 4 stars. I'm definitely uneasy about the cleanliness of the ANC tools, but I will say that both of my technicians were nice, the ANC manicures came out very well and have not chipped at all, and I was not charged extra to remove the ANC polish. read more

The girl I had rushed through my pedicure and gel manicure, that when we were finished I was left with polish all over my skin. But I wish that was the worst of it. After I paid with my card, I handed the girl a cash tip, even with how terrible a job she did. She counted it in front of me, then looked at me, waving the money, with a nasty look, implying that she wanted more. She got a simple Manicure, it has been three days and every single finger nail has chipped. They never put a clear coat over the color she got. I got ANC and the lady made my fingers bleed she filed the sides so hard. I usually tip $5 when they are good. This time I tipped $3 because I was disappointed with my experience. When I gave the lady the $3 she told me it was a $5 minimum tip for ANC. I thought that was very rude and they cant tell me what to tip. I will never be going back there.
