Went in looking for tile and we were assisted by the awesome, Meadow, who not only brought us to the tile section, she was able to locate the exact match to the piece we brought in (she didn't abandon us at the aisle, she searched through a pile of tiles that were in the wrong place and eventually opened a new pallet for us). I appreciate the convince of being able to find most things I need at Lowes. They have however really lost focus on the customer these last few years. They have almost completely gone to nothing but self checkout now, and finding lumber that isn't twisted or warped seems to be mission impossible. Ordering cabinets from Lowe's was a nightmare. First I had to order three times as the order was placed incorrectly, cabinet delivery time was within a week when it was realized one cabinet was not ordered which delayed delivery by a month, then delivery was set-up to driveway rather than inside home. If this was not enough installation left nail and screw marks in the cabinets, I couldn't get appliances back in to what was supposed to be their location and the design was improper preventing a proper kitchen sink or installation of the counters I ordered. I will now have to hire someone to fix all their errors and in the meantime I have no functioning kitchen to cook or wash dishes for a family of 6. I would never use Lowes again for cabinets and recommend to everyone to go elsewhere even if it costs more! read more

Would never shop here again. Paid $6500 to have hardwood installed in my living room. They sent a kid with no experience who did such a terrible job they had to rip all the flooring up. They destroyed parts of my house. Now I have no floors, damaged sub floors, damaged parts of my wall (the kid actually hammered the flooring into my dry wall), and the two week project started almost 1.5 years ago. Lowes felt they were in the wrong and offered me $1080 to settle... again I have no floors, damaged subfloors, a bad damage to my house. So if I took their offered settlement i essentially paid $5500 for people to come into my house over the last 1.5 years to trash it.... Yeah don't ever do business with lowes. The building materials section had no spare carts, but 5 employees standing behind the counter. No one said they'd help us find one, just pointed to the other side of the giant store. When asked where the ladders were located we heard row 15 twice, they where located in row 50. Nobody asked if this 66 year old needed help moving this 10 ft ladder. Check out was long and very slow. I am painting my house and it's always quite a process to find a paint provider as there are many to choose from and the prices and quality vary wildly. After a few disappointing trips I decided to give the Bellingham Lowe's a try and was pleasantly surprised by both their variety of available paints and by the amazingly helpful staff people I encountered. Lowe's was running a sale that was a little complicated to understand and the staff were just amazingly patient and supportive, helping us to better understand how the sale worked and answering every question we had with patience and understanding. It dramatically reduced our anxiety and made us feel better about the whole piant buying experience. A woman named 'Payton" was exceptionally awesome and they are luck to have her. I would highly recommend buying your paint at Lowes. read more

I purchased a toilet and installation from Lowe's. The installers described a significant amount of plumbing needed and gave me a quote for the work, which I accepted. The work involved cutting the sheet rock and going into the pipes inside the wall. A minimal amount of work was done, and the sheet rock wasn't cut, nothing done inside the wall. The toilet was installed, then I was informed it was faulty and leaked. Lowe's reimbursed me the cost of the toilet and some of the installation fee. After talking with them for a month, corporate decided not to reimburse me any more of the extra fee for the work that was not done. I do not have a description of the work in writing so I can't pursue this is court. I ended up having to pay a reputable plumber to fix everything. I am out several hundred dollars I should not have had to pay, was without a working toilet for a month, and have spent way too much of my life explaining to yet another customer "service" person what the problem was, and waiting for a fair resolution. read more

Went to Lowe's today to attempt to buy a washer and dryer set. Spent about 25 minutes trying to find someone to write us up, as we knew exactly what we wanted, but no joy. Lowe's has people to stock shelves, but no one to staff the skill positions. This is on a Sunday, mind you, when big box stores are busy. I can see that as a strategy for warehouse sales, and that would work for a lot of things that you could find at Lowe's, but purchasing appliances isn't really a great application of the self-service model. The store itself is very pleasant and well lit, and the one staff member I encountered who spoke to me was helpful in an "aisle 15" kind of way. I suppose if you know exactly what you want to buy, and know exactly where it is, Lowe's could work for you. If not...yes, there's Home Depot, which is exactly where we went from our Lowe's adventure, and the contrast couldn't be more stark. HD is well staffed, and from the greeting at the door to the well informed staff, it's a much better experience than Lowe's. read more

Awful service. Every. Single. Time. I always go to Home Depot because of their knowledgeable and helpful staff. Lowe's is actually conveniently located near my home so every now and then I come in and without fail the staff looks at you like you're inconveniencing them with a question. It's actually quite comical watching them look at a hose quick connect like it's a foreign object, then be bothered that you asked them a question. Or can't point you in the right direction of reflective tape. Or answer a few simple questions regarding deck stain, let alone have someone available to prepare paint. Then you go to checkout and the person checking out is taking a long time to scan a filter and half the self checkout stations are out of service. Lowe's needs to focus on training their staff, hiring costumer service oriented people, and training staff to be available to answer questions, even to be present, feels like I need to seek out someone who's usually busy doing who knows what... perhaps returning items as Ive had to purchase items unknowing whether it's the right product. read more

Stephanie in hardware and tools actually knows what customer service is! Bought a Craftsman garage cabinet and AFTER I unboxed it and began putting it together, I found it was missing several button head screws and matching nuts. It had a dent in the side as well, but nothing terrible. I get it, there should be NO dents and scratches, but after loading the 120 pound thing home and unboxing it, I had to ask myself, "how badly do I want to take this whole thing back for a small dent?" So I opted to just go in and pick up matching screws and bolts. Contacted the very unkempt young man at customer service, who told me there was nothing they could do for me and suggested I call Craftsman to have them send me the missing screws and nuts. GREAT customer service there buddy! I suggested MAYBE he help me find replacement parts because I hoped that a place like Lowe's would carry something like screws and nuts. He told me I could try looking in the aisle with screws. I commented that it might be hard to find them and he said he would call someone over. I went and began perusing the screw aisle just across the row from customer service and easily in view of the customer service counter. No one came and I had not found the replacements for over 10 minutes. Not one person had approached the customer service counter while I waited, yet the rep made only the initial call! I finally decided just to walk out, when I walked past a Craftsman tool display. There was an employee working with some of the tools, so I asked her for help. Stephanie was super kind and helped me find the screws and nuts in a few minutes and gave me suggestions for dealing with the dent. Super kind and super helpful. Stephanie is a superstar and the only reason I'm giving 4 stars! Without her, Lowe's just expects me to call up the company and wait two weeks or whatever with a half-built cabinet in my garage-booooo! read more

We went in looking for a BBQ, and Carl was amazing!!! First--and as of late, foremost--he was masked up and super sensitive about social distancing, which was great. Second, he was super knowledgeable about their products as well as giving us a bunch of very helpful grilling tips! He did not try to oversell us at all, even though there was a big range in prices. They have a lot of decent stuff. You need to do your own research and know what you need and if they carry it before going. Do not go to look at items and ask questions. The employees have no idea what they carry, how it works or where in the store it is. The employees will ignore you if they do not know what something is or how it works. We asked 2 times for help in a section about fireplaces. Waited a half hour and still no one came over. After wasting that time standing around, some employee was like 'yeah, no one knows anything about them. ' We left very frustrated, without any help. read more

I went in to return some defective Christmas lights today and was told they don't take any returns on Christmas items after the 24th. Since I work in the retail industry, I am quite busy up to the 24th. It's one thing if I just didn't need them anymore but they were defective. From time of purchase I got 6 weeks use out of them. Either stand behind your product or don't sell it and they should definitely post signs in the holiday section warning about their selective return policy. Came here to grab Round Up for my lawn project. Well for a spray bottle its $5. Pretty good deal. I came here couple times for a few things. However, I do find Lowe's is similar to Home Depot but I prefer Home Depot because Home Depot has better prices. Well overall this place is not bad. I do like shopping here. Its big and is great for grabbing your project material needs. Its like a one stop place. Staff are friendly here and helpful. I ordered online an LG refrigerator for installation and delivery. Before I ordered it I spoke with an associate to determine I had the correct item number. I have no way of hooking up a waterline and did not want a refrigerator with an icemaker because I also needed the extra space in the freezer. Well, when it was installed, it had an icemaker. The installers were excellent NOT the management. I was told even if you order from your Bellingham store or local Lowes you are actually ordering from corporate, and any problems are not dealt with by the local agency. I was told I could contact corporate, and they could possibly swap out the refrigerator, not sure of the timeline. It is 2 days before Thanksgiving. I am also partially an invalid temporarily. Double hip replacement and healing a broken femur on top of that. They told me I would have to unload and reload all the food items AGAIN. I could hardly do it the first time. Im renovating my kitchen for my mom who is dealing with a major cancer related illness. She lives with me and I ordered a countertop from Lowe's to go with my new cabinets. I was promised it would be six weeks from time of order for delivery so I ordered the counter. Would it interest you to know that a big box store known for major home repair projects can also handle minor ones? I had two small tasks that I needed done. First, I needed a new battery for my smoke detector that began chirping at regular intervals. I thought about driving across town to head to Radio Shack which is known to carry every battery type at a decent price, but I wanted to handle both of my repair tasks in the same place. Second, I needed a short, fat, light bulb for my bathroom vanity. I was fairly certain that Lowes had a light department, so I was optimistic that I might find what I was looking for at a reasonable price. I brought my old bulb so I could match it exactly. I was delighted to walk into the store, find both of the items I needed without even asking for help, check out for $12, and complete everything within a 10 minute period. Not only did they have my battery and bulb, but I didn't have to buy a package of 20 of each. They both came in packs of 2, but I was fine with having one extra on hand for replacement purposes. Furthermore, Lowes took my old, burnt, light bulb and dead battery and recycled them for me. This big box store is not just for home builders and contractors. You too can complete you minor maintenance needs here. Get'r done! read more

I had to run in here for a very obscure item (screws to hold the toilet seat in place, I had no idea those even existed but when you don't have them you notice pretty quickly!). Our visit had a pretty bumpy start. The special carts that are created to hold an infant seat were all the way at the back of the row. There was a garage door on the other end where the carts were held, and when we asked an employee to help us retrieve the cart we needed, he said the door was broken. There is a bit of irony in the fact that a home improvement store has broken doors... We needed two carts now, one to hold the baby and one to hold our purchases. Thank goodness I was not alone! I couldn't walk into a store like this and only grab what I was looking for, plus my husband had some other things for work he needed to purchase. I meandered up and down aisles, drooled over their succulent selection, and had a wonderful conversation with an employee about cleaning supplies. There weren't a ton of sales people around, and only one person asked if I needed anything, but I wasn't exactly looking for help either. My husband had an interesting interaction at the paint counter. The head guy running things was very knowledgeable/ helpful. However, when we returned to pick up the paint he had mixed we were helped by a different young man. He had no clue what he was doing, and couldn't answer any of the questions my husband asked, such as what kind of paintbrush to use with this particular paint. I love the selection of items at this store, and could spend way too much money here. Next time I will go without the baby. read more

Our cashier Noah was incredibly disrespectful. He yelled at us for putting our items on the counter to be scanned, then barked at us to bring our cart around to the side so he could scan items. I understand people have bad days, but this behavior went beyond any kind of disrespect I've ever experienced in customer service. He had an incredibly angry and aggressive verbal tone and physical mannerisms. I sincerely hope this is unusual behavior for this employee because he should be fired if this is his regular persona. Be very careful when dealing with the delivery department at Lowe's. I ordered a Kitchen appliance package on Black Friday it took 6 delivery attempts, 50 days and an additional $600 to get my appliances. This is my nightmare encounter. It's worth the read. Delivery Attempt #1 Lowe's set up delivery for my appliances on the 18th Of December. On the 18th (during the delivery window), Lowe's called me and said they only had the microwave in stock. They didn't have my refrigerator, my dishwasher, or my oven. They said it would be weeks before I could get them.  Delivery Attempt #2 They rescheduled me for early January. On the second delivery day, Lowe's neglected to call me again. So I called Lowe's to see what time they would arrive. The person on the phone told me they would be there by 5 PM. Again no one arrived. Delivery Attempt #3 After two failed deliveries I decided to drive to Lowes and speak manager. I spoke to Mitch. He apologized for the TWO failed attempted and rescheduled me an emergency delivery for the following morning. I told him that I would reschedule my plans to be home for the emergency delivery. SHOCKINGLY THEY NO SHOWED, AGAIN. I went down to Lowes again, ask why they no-showed for the 3rd time. Mitch the manager informed me that they neglected to order my fridge AGAIN and it would be another few weeks before it would arrive. At this point I'm so fed up I told them I would take any other Samsung fridge that would match my appliances. The only other fridge they had was twice the price as the one I originally ordered. So Mitch gave me a 'discount' on the new fridge, but it was still $600 MORE than the fridge I had ordered over 5 weeks again that was still weeks away!!  So at this point, I'm out an additional $600 and still don't have any of my appliances. Mitch schedules me for delivery. I honestly felt bad for Mitch, it seems like he has to deal with a lot of problems with the people that work in the delivery dept. He was the only person that seemed to have any sympathy or care at all.  Delivery Attempt #4 NO CALL/NO SHOW, AGAIN!!! - I called and said WTF?! They said they didn't go out today because it was snowing. I asked why no one called me. They didn't have an answer.  i speak to a manager by the name of AJ. I tell him everything I've been through and he said, "Let me check with the delivery department and I'll get right back to you. He never called me back.  Delivery Attempt #5  2 delivery guys show up at my house Saturday morning without anyone making an appointment with me. I tried to explain the nightmare that I had been through so far and they rolled their eye's at me and one of them said, ''I was on vacation last week, so it's not my fault. They had zero sympathy for my situation. They unloaded the fridge and hooked it up. Then they told me, you don't have your stove disconnected so we'll leave and come back tonight. I said it will take me 2 minutes to disconnect the old stove and I've already paid you to take it. Just unload the new stove and microwave while I disconnect it. They refused. So they left, they came back 4 hours later and picked up my old stove and drove off. THEY FORGOT TO LEAVE MY NEW STOVE AND MICROWAVE.  Delivery Attempt #6 - Final Delivery I called Lowes and threatened to cancel my complete order if I didn't get my stove and microwave that day. Two hours later, 2 drivers dropped off my stove and microwave.  The moral of the story is NEVER-EVER TRUST THE LOWES DELIVERY DEPARTMENT. THEY DON'T CARE ABOUT THEIR COSTUMERS. read more

I'd be delighted to give this establishment less than one star, but Yelp won't let me. The place has customer service that is straight out of a Monty Python skit. From the phones that ring and ring and ring in the various departments, and then go back to the operators when no one picks up, to the employees who enter your phone number incorrectly and refuse to correct the mistake, to installers who act miffed when I ask why they haven't called me back and don't have their schedules with them, this place is a joke. Do not do business with these folks. When they refused to deliver my appliance after taking my delivery money, I insisted upon a full refund. This is not the sort of customer service that should exist anywhere, let alone a large chain store. Frighteningly bad. read more
