My dryer quit working last week. I sought various reviews, starting first with Yelp. I saw in someone's comment that Appliance Service Solutions works on LG appliances (a lot of service people don't). I called and a very professional woman answered and set me up for an appointment between 9 and 11 on Monday morning (5/11/20). Monday morning, at 10:45, Mike called to say their previous job ran long and wondered if 11:15 would be okay. I said, "Of course!" They arrived at 11:10. They were wearing masks and gloves. I have a full-size stacked washer and dryer; heavy, to say the least. They checked out my dryer thoroughly and determined it was fine, but they were concerned that my old circuit breaker may be having issues and recommended I wait to use it until I have an electrician out. I was SO grateful to find out my dryer is fine (because I'm actually in the midst of seling my condo). Their price was very reasonable for as long as they were here. I had expressed my concern about a possible fire and they were so thorough. I would definitely use this company again and highly recommend! read more

In terms of response time, knowledge, and practical advice, I do believe Appliance Service Solutions is a knowledgeable and reputable company. The technician was professional, clearly experienced, and identified a legitimate issue with my refrigerator that I was not previously aware of. That said, I will not be moving forward with additional services because of my experience with pricing transparency. I originally scheduled service for a dishwasher diagnostic. Over the phone, I was quoted approximately $150-$165 for the dishwasher diagnostic, not including any additional parts or labor if repairs were needed. While the dishwasher diagnostic cycle was running, the technician began discussing Samsung appliances with me and mentioned that my refrigerator model may have a common issue. He asked if I minded him taking a quick look at it while he was waiting on the dishwasher cycle. My understanding from the conversation was that this was a quick courtesy look while time was already passing during the dishwasher diagnostic. I agreed. He briefly inspected the refrigerator, pointed out ice buildup, checked the temperature, and explained the likely issue and what the repair would cost. I appreciated the information, and I do believe he correctly identified a problem that may need attention. The issue came at the end of the visit when my final bill was just over $250. When I asked about the difference from the original dishwasher diagnostic quote, I was told the additional amount was because he looked at the refrigerator. My concern is not that the refrigerator inspection had value. It did. My concern is that I was not clearly told beforehand that looking at the refrigerator would be an additional diagnostic charge. Had I been told, "I can take a look at the refrigerator too, but it will be an additional charge," I likely would have approved it. The problem is that the way it was presented -- as something being done quickly while waiting on the dishwasher cycle -- made it feel like a courtesy or part of the same visit. Overall, I think this company knows appliances and appears capable. However, based on my experience, I would recommend confirming all charges in writing before agreeing to have them look at anything beyond the original appliance you scheduled service for. Clearer upfront communication about additional diagnostic fees would have made this a much better experience. For anyone wondering why I chose two stars: Yelp labels two stars as "could've been better," and that accurately reflects my opinion of this experience. The technician seemed knowledgeable, and I do think the company is capable, but the pricing communication could have been much clearer. That is ultimately why I feel two stars is warranted. read more

I was given a service charge of $130, which I agreed to. the service person only looked at my dishwasher and determined a need for a part replacement. he never took anything out. only pulled it from the wall. then I was charged an extra $85 for his time. I said: "I thought that's what the service charge was for. he said it doesn't include his time. hmmm. never again. read more

Over $160 to walk in the house, and walk right back out. But that wasn't their fault, I turned off the refrigerator to defrost it, then my wife closed the doors and we left. When I returned for the appointment and opened the doors, it was full of, what else, mold. Definitely not their fault. So why not 5 star? Well the diagnostic charge quote didn't include tax, nor a definition of plus tax (which is another 8.8%), so in addition having to pay almost $150 for 30 seconds, I got slapped with even more. Again, not their fault, but a heads up of "plus tax" would have made it hurt less when in the moment I got the total amount I owed. When unexpected stuff like this happens, having the cost be even more than what is already racing through your head hurts. read more

Called in for service,waited 2 weeks, then when Mike TRIED to arrive using Apple maps. It lead him to the wrong place, not my fault. Rescheduled for 2 days later, gave Mike the right directions, told him Apple maps is not accurate. He ignored the basic directions, still went with Apple maps, got lost, then called to tell us to get someone else. We are 1/4 mile off of the major highway. Not that hard to follow directions when they are explicitly given. How extremely rude. read more

Amazing service, great prices, terrific people. I have had them work on both our freezer and clothes washer. I was sure we were doomed to be replacing these appliances as they were older but had been good and faithful servants. In both cases we were on their service schedule right away. Paul and Mike worked on our freezer, explained in detail what was wrong and had it as good as new in no time. Paul worked on our Electrolux washer and had no problem with me looking over his shoulder while talking me through the whys and wherefores of the problems. This was a messy ordeal but when he left the area was spic and span, the washer still works great (as does the freezer) and I was entertained in the process. Great service, very informative. Prices are fair. Had a pump replaced in a front load washer (laundry), then a followup call. Ended up being a sock that worked its way to block, not the filter, but all the way up in it, between the drum, I think? He also found that one of the ground wires wasn't grounded! All fixed, quite quickly. Would definitely recommend. If possible, fix instead of replace. read more

Mike came out and fixed my cloth dryer (July 2019). Scheduling (5 Stars): It was extremely easy to schedule an appointment. I think they have a designated person who answers phone calls and schedule appointments. Service (5 Stars): Mike arrived within the time window. He also called me several minutes before his arrival. He was able to fix my dryer. He also replaced the duct because it was not even connected! Pricing (4 Stars): If I'm not mistaken, they charge $95 for a service call. Their hourly rate is somewhere around $85. I would not say it's unreasonable, but their rate is on the higher side. Recommendation I will definitely use them again, and I highly recommend them. When something breaks down, the last thing we need is a company that may or may not show up. It's easy to schedule appointments, and these guys are reliable. They do show up and they show up when they say they will. Calling around, I couldn't find anyone who would even look at a Samsung. I contacted Samsung and they don't even have a warranty person in the Seattle/Bellingham area.
